Aggressive birds was told I was "in their home"... nothing done to deter them

More like "Bird Sanctuary"... :( .. Spa service great, nice gym, but when I went to the pool I had to find a staff member to help me raise a heavy umbrella, then was told I would be brought a menu, waited 15 minutes got up to get one myself, waited another 15 minutes and got up to order myself, (while watching them help everyone in the row in front of me not acknowledging me), fought off aggressive birds by the pool vying for the food I ordered and when I mentioned the birds to a staff member I was told "we are in their home...they're little menaces they are like children and I have a son" to which I replied "I'm sure your son is fine but I don't want anything menascing me at a resort spa day". Was then told that the computers are being reset and could not complete the transaction and they would find me and bring the card later. It shouldn't matter if you are a hotel guest or a Resort Pass guest... This showed me 1. Don't return here with Resort Pass 2. Don't book a staycation here and 3. Sadly, discourage others from going...

GORGEOUS views, amazing spa & fabulous amenities! We had such a great time staying here at the Sanctuary. Scheduled for massages, incredible ambiance, massage therapist were amazing. We had breakfast at the restaurant at the resort and swim and used the wonderful amenities. You will be planning your next trip upon your departure from the Sanctuary!

We will never go back to this place ever. If I could give them a zero, I would. Valet RUNS THIS PLACE and if you try to park here, they'll make you park down at the bottom of the hill and walk back up in the heat. Make sure you're not "rude" or they'll throw you off the property!!!!! "Manager" says they were "at capacity". Really? the parking lot was not even half full? Hey Sanctuary, not everyone likes their car beat up and riffled through by valet who here literally park cars 50 feet away! Mother-in-law's 90th birthday RUINED! "Manager" couldn't give it a rest and went for vengeance forcing me to get up from an ongoing meal at a table of ten to throw me out over PARKING even after I asked to just get a valet ticket (they refused), moved my car to the lower parking lot, walked back up the hill, ordered food, and was drinking my coffee! I've never been treated so badly at any establishment. Manager was well aware there was a multi-generational family gathering and a birthday, with balloons and all. "Manager" refused to stop and even decided to come out and harass me sitting in my car ON THE STREET!!! Whoever is writing responses to reviews is misinformed as there was NO "profanity"-based decision to remove a customer, only a discussion the "manager" solely decided and repeatedly claimed was "rude"! Third picture, yeah, that's the "manager" standing in the middle of the street continuing to harass me in my car parked ACROSS THE STREET waiting for my family!!

My husband and I LOVED our stay at Sanctuary! From the moment we arrived the customer service was impeccable! All of the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The only reason I'm giving Sanctuary 4 stars is because of the safety concerns I had. Since all of the beautiful aspects of Sanctuary can be seen online, I chose to post photos of the concerns I had with our room. Paying the amount we paid for 2 nights I would've expected to have more privacy than we did. The outdoor bathtub of room 221 (because I can't speak for other rooms) was easily accessible to those staying next to us or anyone else who may have chosen to walk through. Because of this I wasn't able to fully enjoy it. There also wasn't a privacy curtain by our front door for us to close therefore we had to be sure not to "freely" walk around our room because at night anyone walking by can see into the entire living room. There was a pretty big gap under our door for bugs, small snakes, or even a small camera could slide under. This was unsettling for me. The last thing that I would address is the wiring of the lights. All of the lights were seemed to be on a dimmer and would flicker if they were turned too low without being turned off. It's not a major concern but again, for the amount of money that's being paid, small things such as I've mentioned can really alter one's experience. Fortunately, nothing happened and our safety was never jeopardized. We would stay here again because the customer service of the staff was OUTSTANDING but we would want to try a different room with the tub indoors instead to see if my safety concerns is an isolated issue for room 221. Overall it was a great stay!

Thank you for your care and consideration--especially how there are no smells, like detergents or perfumes. Hallelujah! What a beautiful resort and lovely stay. Your staff are all so sweet and supportive. Next time we'll stay longer!

The staff was constantly around and friendly, and the service was quicker than expected. The fruit platter that came with the daybed was much better than we have received at other resorts with the add in, and the meal and drink cost was on par. What we really enjoyed was that the music was at a relaxing volume, we were given free drinks as the resort wanted all guests to get into the holiday. Having the day bed from 10-6 was more than enough...we used 5 or 6 of the hours. Will definitely come back! Two knocks/challenges - figuring out where the pool actually was posed a challenge. We ended up walking around the massive property for a bit as the front desk was busy when we walked in and there wasn't good signage. This was our fourth consecutive year, and we were eagerly anticipating this trip with high hopes for the Omni Scottsdale experience. While the property itself was beautiful and the restaurants were excellent, the spa was an enormous disappointment. The setting had all the makings of a luxurious retreat, but the spa experience fell far short of expectations. Both the interior jacuzzi and the rooftop spa pool had a visible ring of grime made up of oils and skin residue. When I ran my finger along the edge, a chunk of sticky buildup came off--it encircled the entire tub. What made this especially concerning was that I was the very first spa guest to use the jacuzzi on a Saturday morning at 9 a.m. This clearly wasn't buildup from a busy day; it appeared to be the result of weeks or even months of inadequate cleaning and maintenance. There is simply no excuse for that level of neglect at a resort and spa of this caliber. I reported the issue immediately. To her credit, the general manager was gracious and responsive, ultimately comping two nights of our stay, which I genuinely appreciated. Unfortunately, the spa manager did not seem to fully grasp how unacceptable and unsanitary the situation was. I was offered 10% off spa services, but after spending more than $600 specifically to enjoy the spa amenities, I found it impossible to relax or enjoy the experience afterward. Overall, it was deeply disappointing and honestly upsetting, especially given how much we look forward to this annual tradition each year.

The property is beautiful to walk around, with all the landscaping, flowers and trees; some of them are marked with what kind of plant they are. There are century plants and aloe and various cacti. The fitness center is located at the spa. It has windows which open up onto the pool, which is a more private pool than the main pool. The staff is outstanding. Savannah, who ran the front desk on my most recent visit, is absolutely amazing and really helped with any questions or small issues with my stay. The restaurant is wonderful for the hotel breakfast. I recommend having cocktails there too. You can see a beautiful sunset from the bar. I love the open design of this hotel resort because it makes you feel like you're in the countryside and you can admire the beautiful views of Camelback as you walk around the grounds and hear birds chirping. It's so relaxing. Parking is easy and you can usually find a spot right outside your casita room as the parking circles the hotel. Toiletries in the room smell so good! Lavender with sea salt. I invited four girlfriends to join me, and each of them booked their own rooms. Unfortunately, after spending four days at the property, I can confidently say this was one of the most disappointing luxury hotel experiences I've ever had. The problems started at check-in. The front desk associate barely engaged with me, offered no overview of the property, amenities, or resort experience, and didn't ask whether it was my first visit. When I mentioned I was celebrating my birthday, there wasn't even a simple "Happy Birthday." I was handed a key and what turned out to be a property map, with no explanation whatsoever. My next stop was the concierge desk to inquire about pool cabanas. I was simply told they were sold out. No alternatives were offered, no waitlist was mentioned, and no effort was made to assist. Instead, I was told to look at an outside website myself. At a luxury resort, isn't the concierge's role to help guests find solutions and make arrangements? When I later asked if the resort did anything special for birthday guests, the concierge emailed me a list of items I could purchase. That response perfectly summarized the level of hospitality we experienced. The room itself was another disappointment. It felt outdated and in need of renovation, hardly what one would expect from a luxury property. Ironically, when I later visited the pool and asked an attendant about cabanas, she immediately offered to place me on a waitlist in case of cancellations--an option the concierge never bothered to mention. The following morning, I spoke with a manager, Alley, about my experience. She apologized and offered a $100 food and beverage credit, which I appreciated. However, when I returned to my room, I discovered something far more concerning: one of the pillows had visible mold on it. Since I don't sleep with pillows, I hadn't noticed it the first night. As I looked closer, I found stains on the bedding, pillows, lampshade, and even areas of the room that clearly had not been properly cleaned. Housekeeping came and changed the sheets and pillowcases, but shockingly left behind the actual moldy pillow. At that point, this had moved far beyond a service issue and into a cleanliness and health concern. I reported everything again to management. The additional response was a $50 credit. At this point, the property had failed in virtually every area that defines a luxury hotel: guest service, concierge support, cleanliness, attention to detail, and problem resolution. My friends who booked rooms experienced similar frustrations with both customer service and housekeeping. We ultimately spent much of our time dining at restaurants off property and even rented a cabana at another resort because our experience at The Phoenician was so disappointing. For a stay that cost me over $2,000, offering a total of $150 in credits felt completely out of touch with the severity of the issues. The amount wasn't the problem, it was the lack of accountability and genuine concern. I rarely leave negative reviews, but travelers should know that this property did not deliver anything close to the luxury experience it advertises. Between the poor service, moldy pillow, cleanliness concerns, and overall lack of hospitality, I cannot recommend The Phoenician. I will also be filing a complaint through Marriott Bonvoy regarding my experience. Luxury hotels are defined by service, attention to detail, and how they handle problems when they arise. Unfortunately, The Phoenician failed on all three.

I don't care for a stocked fridge and snacks. It's useless nowadays. We had to ask for a fridge to be brought in. The room is very clean, however there were a few moths flying around the room, which was odd. Pool: the pool is wonderful! We are here on spring break (a very popular travel week) and always found spots at the pool. The servers are the pool are awesome 5/5 stars! Attentive and professional. The food at the pool was great (the burger was the restaurant burger and the whipped ricotta and fruit was yummy). The location is great! We did rent a car but never had to drive far! The valet team is speedy but it's an odd service as the parking spaces are super close. (I was ready to give this place 4 stars but this last night is a stinky way to end the trip.)

While the villas do not have a kitchen, they are spacious, comfortable, and make for a relaxing stay. The pools are also very nice and, during our last few visits, were never overly crowded, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The only issue we encountered was that we lit candles in our room, which triggered the resort's smoke detection system. A fee was initially charged to our account, but once we explained what happened, the staff was understanding and promptly refunded the charge. Overall, we've had great experiences here and would definitely recommend the resort to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing getaway in Scottsdale.

The property is beautiful, with modern Southwest-inspired design, stunning views of Camelback and Mummy Mountains, clean and comfortable rooms, and excellent food. The staff was consistently warm and attentive, especially Colin (who I believe is a manager--and if he isn't, he should be), our Hecho Libre server Sandra, and the food and beverage manager, whose name we unfortunately didn't catch. The nightly social hour and thoughtful text messages checking whether we needed anything were also wonderful touches that made us feel genuinely cared for. There are also a few easy improvements that could make an already attractive resort even better: covered parking would be a huge benefit during Arizona summers, moving the Canyon Vista daybeds next to the pool instead of the hot tub would make far more sense, and dressing up the large wall at Canyon Ridge with paint, trees, or climbing vines would greatly improve the atmosphere. Unfortunately, all of those positives were overshadowed by one major issue: the pool experience. We rented a daybed at Canyon Ridge because the website describes it as a place to "settle in with a cocktail at the boulder-surrounded Canyon Ridge Pool," which led us to believe it was geared toward adults seeking a relaxing atmosphere. Instead, we discovered every pool is family friendly. As a middle-aged, childfree couple, we book resorts to spend the day relaxing by the pool with good food and cocktails, not surrounded by chaos. Instead, we were treated to wannabe influencers blasting their own speakers over the DJ while filming social media videos, and herds of children screaming, crying, splashing, having Super Soaker fights, and even playing baseball in the pool. Their waterlogged ball flew toward us and other guests several times, creating a safety issue while the parents appeared far more interested in socializing than supervising their children. The biggest surprise wasn't the behavior itself, it was the complete lack of management. There was no pool manager, no one enforcing basic etiquette, and no effort to preserve the experience for everyone sharing the space. A luxury resort shouldn't feel like an unsupervised community water park. The pool also appeared understaffed. We weren't greeted by our server until a server from the neighboring pool noticed we'd been sitting there unattended and tracked her down. When she finally arrived, she acted as though serving us was an inconvenience. On Fourth of July weekend, that's a significant missed opportunity, not only for guest satisfaction but for revenue. Guests who are being ignored aren't spending money on food or drinks. Normally we'd spend the entire day by the pool ordering lunch, cocktails, and snacks. Instead, we left for lunch because we simply couldn't enjoy ourselves in the midst of all that chaos. In fact, when we book a staycation, we rarely leave the property. We intentionally spend money on meals, drinks, and other amenities all weekend, but we found ourselves leaving multiple times because we wanted a quieter, more relaxing atmosphere. That's revenue walking off your property. The most frustrating part is that this problem seems entirely fixable. There is no reason a resort of this size can't designate at least one pool as adults only. Plenty of luxury resorts successfully balance families with adults seeking relaxation. Instead, the atmosphere felt more like a spring break party at a community pool than a luxury Scottsdale resort, with little regard for guests looking to unwind. It's a shame, because beneath those issues is a beautiful resort with excellent food, wonderful employees, comfortable accommodations, and tremendous potential. If management made guest experience a priority by actively overseeing the pool environment and creating at least one adults-only pool, we'd happily give the Miralina another chance. Until then, while we enjoyed many aspects of our stay, we wouldn't return or recommend it to friends looking for a relaxing luxury getaway. The resort has all the ingredients to be exceptional...it simply needs to decide what kind of experience it wants to offer, and what kind of clientele it wants to attract.

I just wanted to send a quick note about my recent visit to Canal Club this past Saturday…read more I arrived around 11:00 a.m. for a little staycation day and had a wonderful experience. I was first helped by Mary, one of the bartenders, and she was fantastic. She recommended a drink called the Sin & Society, which was amazing, and she also suggested the Cubano, which was a 10/10. I spent some time enjoying the atmosphere at the bar before heading out to the pool. The pool area was great, but shortly after arriving, I was informed it would be closing at 3:00 p.m. for a private event. While I was a little disappointed, I completely understood and headed back inside to the bar. When I returned, the bar was much busier than before. I learned that all pool orders were now being directed inside, and it quickly became apparent just how much additional work that created. I noticed receipts constantly printing, orders piling up, and a significant increase in guests all at once. What stood out to me was how quickly Mary jumped into action. Not only was she handling the bar, but she was also managing the influx of pool orders. It seemed incredibly overwhelming, and I didn't see anyone step in to assist her. Despite that, she handled everything with professionalism, efficiency, and grace. Even though it was obvious she had a tremendous amount on her plate, she never let it show in her interactions with guests. I even overheard other guests commenting on how bad they felt seeing so many orders come in at once and how impressed they were with how she was managing it all. I simply wanted to give credit where credit is due. Mary provided exceptional service, and she played a huge role in making my day enjoyable. Employees like her deserve recognition, and I hope her hard work does not go unnoticed.

Before heading out to get food, my sisters (who are 17) and I stopped to take a few pictures by the Fourth of July sign at the front of the casino. A tall, skinny white security guard with a ponytail approached us even though we weren't causing any problems. We were simply taking photos and walking toward the exit. He asked for my ID, examined it closely, and even bent it as if he didn't know what a legitimate ID looked like. He then asked if we were staying at the hotel. I told him yes and asked what the issue was. The only explanation he gave was that I "looked underage." My ID is real, and I was treated like I had done something wrong when I hadn't. The situation became even more uncomfortable when he and about six other security guards followed us all the way to the elevator. We were doing nothing more than taking pictures and leaving to get food, which we ended up not doing because of how uncomfortable the encounter made us feel. I've stayed at many casinos, and I've never been treated this way. Meanwhile, there were actual children running around the casino floor, yet security chose to single us out instead. I would recommend better training for your security staff, especially on how to verify IDs professionally and how to approach guests with respect. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I won't be returning.
