Sanctuary is nestled in Paradise Valley and has a good view of the Camelback Mountain. They also have nice gardens, pools, and the venue space for events/weddings. We stopped by to check this place out for some food and drinks, and there happen to have a wedding taking place - The backdrop is great, and you'll get a better view by going to the balcony at the back of the elements restaurant. Beautiful resort the location and view are amazing. My daughter just had a wedding here this weekend. Chanel chain belt disappeared from preparing room 201. The antique cake cutter and server were set on the cake cutting table and soon its disappeared and swap to the normal one. Still missing. Chain belt was found..... I hope cake cutter and knife will be found. Very disappointing. The things disappeared while you are doing wedding. Be careful if you are doing wedding. I will update this review if they find my cake server. It's bride's mother my cake servers... I hope they will be careful replacing personal stuff without a permission. We will never go back to this place ever. If I could them zero, I would. Valet RUNS THIS PLACE and if you try to park here, they'll make you park down at the bottom of the hill and walk back up in the heat. Make sure you're not "rude" or they'll throw you off the property!!!!! Manager says they were "at capacity". Really? the parking lot was not even half full? Hey Sanctuary, not everyone likes their car beat up and riffled through by valet. Mother-in-law's 90th birthday RUINED! Manager couldn't give it a rest and went for vengeance forcing me to get up from an ongoing meal at a table of ten to throw me out over PARKING even after I asked to just valet the car, moved it to the lower parking lot, walked back up the hill, and ordered food! This place is old and tired. I get that it is an old time relic of a resort but there are so many better resort options to stay at and visit. Lunch was underwhelming. Burger was tasteless and undercooked. Service was ridiculously slow. I suggest trying some of the other resorts. read more

My husband and I LOVED our stay at Sanctuary! From the moment we arrived the customer service was impeccable! All of the staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The only reason I'm giving Sanctuary 4 stars is because of the safety concerns I had. Since all of the beautiful aspects of Sanctuary can be seen online, I chose to post photos of the concerns I had with our room. Paying the amount we paid for 2 nights I would've expected to have more privacy than we did. The outdoor bathtub of room 221 (because I can't speak for other rooms) was easily accessible to those staying next to us or anyone else who may have chosen to walk through. Because of this I wasn't able to fully enjoy it. There also wasn't a privacy curtain by our front door for us to close therefore we had to be sure not to "freely" walk around our room because at night anyone walking by can see into the entire living room. There was a pretty big gap under our door for bugs, small snakes, or even a small camera could slide under. This was unsettling for me. The last thing that I would address is the wiring of the lights. All of the lights were seemed to be on a dimmer and would flicker if they were turned too low without being turned off. It's not a major concern but again, for the amount of money that's being paid, small things such as I've mentioned can really alter one's experience. Fortunately, nothing happened and our safety was never jeopardized. We would stay here again because the customer service of the staff was OUTSTANDING but we would want to try a different room with the tub indoors instead to see if my safety concerns is an isolated issue for room 221. Water went out for the whole day while we were there and the management handled it so poorly. Bathrooms closed, food shut down, and no accommodations to help guests navigate. Where do I begin?! This resort is an easy 10/10 (or 5/5 for Yelpers ). But whatever rating scale you choose it is an A+. This experience has surely left me waiting for another visit. I arrived at Sanctuary from Houston to celebrate my 40th birthday. I had no expectations other than a relaxing solo getaway. However, expectations were exceeded. Any staff member I came in contact with was so pleasant (even the grounds workers were polite "Good morning" ). The amenities, especially the Spa, PERFECT! I chose two treatments- Deep Serenity (full body exfoliation and yes I was nearly asleep during the session ) and the Hydrafacial (couldn't fight the sleep any longer ). The offerings of wellness classes such as Sunrise Meditation, Meditative Stretch, Aerial Yoga with Sound Meditation, and Pilates added the perfect touch to my rejuvenation retreat (some were for a charge at a reasonable rate but most are free). Now, on to the beautiful room I stayed in. The Casita King Mountain View exceeded what I thought. The photos on the website were enough to draw me in but being there it was all that I needed and more. I didn't even want to leave my room. The captivating mountain view with an early morning rise and sunset, incredible! I set my own personal tranquil vibe and now this birthday trip has been the best birthday to date! I have already decided to visit this resort again! Life is so busy but when you visit a place like Sanctuary you will leave better than you came. read more

I stayed here in the summer, and the prices were a great deal. However, the AC had to run 24/7 to keep the room cool, and it was pretty loud. The sheets were also very warm, which made it hard to get a good night's sleep. Another thing to note: the double bed room doesn't have queen beds--they're smaller than a full-size bed, which would only be comfortable for two small people. Otherwise, only one larger person would comfortably fit in each bed. We ordered room service, and the mac and cheese was weirdly gloopy and sticky. They also don't have many good food options for kids or picky adults like me. The views were amazing, and since the property is quite hilly, the golf carts available 24/7 were always quick to pick me up. While there were small pools scattered around, the main saltwater lap pool and infinity pool were definitely the highlights. I've visited the spa several times before staying at the hotel, and the spa is truly amazing. Every masseuse I've had was great, and the spa building itself is beautiful. The showers are also very clean. Overall, while I think there are better hotel room options for the price in the area, the spa is one of the best around. read more

Absolutely stunning place to catch a meal! Wow, we made brunch reservations that followed our hike of nearby camel back mountain and it was insanely beautiful. With panoramic views of more mountains from the restaurant. We walked in for brunch through the property and it seemed like a gorgeous property with a lot of privacy. This resort has great views and a nice pool. The room and housekeeping was just fine, the bed was semi firm and they offer pregnancy pillows! I wish they served coffee in the lobby earlier - it starts at 7am. The brunch service at the elements restaurant was a little slow but the poolside service was great. The food is tasty but I wish they had healthier options and complimentary snacks like most other resorts. The fitness classes are great- we did two different yoga classes. My husband and I chose the Sanctuary for our anniversary vacation. My overall impression is meh. I thought from the descriptions it would be more luxury and hip, but it was a very ordinary location with not-so-luxury amenities. The good: The room is clean and the bed was comfy. The staff were friendly. I had a shiatsu massage by Paula which was very good. My hubby got a regular massage that he raved about. The meh: The pool was underwhelming. The infinity pool looks directly at another building with no view. The spa facilities are lacking. The women's side was crowded, having to share the small couches while waiting and was loud due to everyone talking. The jacuzzi looked dirty. And unfortunately, during my massage there were maintenance personnel having a loud conversation near the treatment area, making it difficult to relax. I mentioned it on my way out, and they gave me a small discount. Very annoying to pay more for a spa experience and leave stressed instead of relaxed. read more

I loved my stay at the Sanctuary! I was there for a wedding and despite the August heat it still was the most beautiful spot! The landscaping all around the resort is impressive, the staff are almost all super friendly, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The pool was my favorite spot! Those pool attendants are on their A game. Brittany was the best and really made our stay. One day my flip flop broke and one of the wonderful staff went to the spa to let me borrow a pair to get back to my room They were there when you needed them and were always keeping your water iced. Seriously the best service. I stayed in a double standard room and it was roomy. They bathroom was gorgeous and I loved that they included lemon bath salts as an amenity. Also, all the Molton Brown which I can appreciate. Our room was only about half way up the mountain and thank goodness for those golf carts. The staff was there 24 hours a day to drive you up to your room if you needed it. The beds were super comfortable. I appreciated the complimentary water bottles replenished daily at the mini bar. You really don't need to leave once you are there-- between the pool, spa, and restaurant the resort has you covered! read more

Not especially impressed with this spa. It's exceedingly expensive - my friend got a facial that was $320 and I had a 60-minute "customizable" massage for $250. Neither were anything special to write home about. They have the usual amenities you'd expect with a steam room, quiet room, showers, lockers, etc. I think, during non-COVID times and less hot days, they have the doors to the guest waiting area open and there is a zen/rock/water garden you can walk around in that probably adds to the ambiance. It was closed while we were there and it was very crowded with around 10-15 ladies all waiting who were called back at the same time. My massage didn't include any stones, oils, or aroma therapy and I wasn't offered any of those upgrades either. It was OK but it wasn't anywhere near the best massage I've had, nor was the service or friendliness of the spa techs. For the sort of money I paid - I'd go elsewhere. read more
