We stayed at the Kimpton Miralina Resort and we are already planning to come back in the near future. When we first booked our flight and hotel package, we wanted the King Villa with Patio, but found out the Villas were being renovated. Amanda who was wonderful, spoke with me on the phone and throught text message explained we would be moving to a Casita instead. She also helped send over info since it was my partner's birthday and a lovely chips, salsa, guac, augua fresco and water were delivered in our Casita. The Casita was already renovated with a spacious living room, dining room, washroom and bedroom. The only thing I would comment on not being perfect was the air conditioner is on the louder side and the water pressure of the shower can be stronger. The Casitas have a private smaller pool you can use close by if you want something more private and less walking. The bigger pool with the Cima bar was more our vibes. It was spacious, lots of greenery, places to sit or walk around, has cabanas you can rent and you can order food or drinks while you sun bathe. Victoria was the main server during our 3 night stay and she was friendly and helpful. Get be nachos (huge and amazing portions) and the margaritas. Our stay was absolutely memorable with every staff member we encountered along with the beautiful scenery and facilities which made the minor things not a big deal.

All of the food we had here at Miralina was absolutely delicious!!

We really wanted to love the Kimpton Miralina Resort because, in many ways, it gets the important things right. The property is beautiful, with modern Southwest-inspired design, stunning views of Camelback and Mummy Mountains, clean and comfortable rooms, and excellent food. The staff was consistently warm and attentive, especially Colin (who I believe is a manager--and if he isn't, he should be), our Hecho Libre server Sandra, and the food and beverage manager, whose name we unfortunately didn't catch. The nightly social hour and thoughtful text messages checking whether we needed anything were also wonderful touches that made us feel genuinely cared for. There are also a few easy improvements that could make an already attractive resort even better: covered parking would be a huge benefit during Arizona summers, moving the Canyon Vista daybeds next to the pool instead of the hot tub would make far more sense, and dressing up the large wall at Canyon Ridge with paint, trees, or climbing vines would greatly improve the atmosphere. Unfortunately, all of those positives were overshadowed by one major issue: the pool experience. We rented a daybed at Canyon Ridge because the website describes it as a place to "settle in with a cocktail at the boulder-surrounded Canyon Ridge Pool," which led us to believe it was geared toward adults seeking a relaxing atmosphere. Instead, we discovered every pool is family friendly. As a middle-aged, childfree couple, we book resorts to spend the day relaxing by the pool with good food and cocktails, not surrounded by chaos. Instead, we were treated to wannabe influencers blasting their own speakers over the DJ while filming social media videos, and herds of children screaming, crying, splashing, having Super Soaker fights, and even playing baseball in the pool. Their waterlogged ball flew toward us and other guests several times, creating a safety issue while the parents appeared far more interested in socializing than supervising their children. The biggest surprise wasn't the behavior itself, it was the complete lack of management. There was no pool manager, no one enforcing basic etiquette, and no effort to preserve the experience for everyone sharing the space. A luxury resort shouldn't feel like an unsupervised community water park. The pool also appeared understaffed. We weren't greeted by our server until a server from the neighboring pool noticed we'd been sitting there unattended and tracked her down. When she finally arrived, she acted as though serving us was an inconvenience. On Fourth of July weekend, that's a significant missed opportunity, not only for guest satisfaction but for revenue. Guests who are being ignored aren't spending money on food or drinks. Normally we'd spend the entire day by the pool ordering lunch, cocktails, and snacks. Instead, we left for lunch because we simply couldn't enjoy ourselves in the midst of all that chaos. In fact, when we book a staycation, we rarely leave the property. We intentionally spend money on meals, drinks, and other amenities all weekend, but we found ourselves leaving multiple times because we wanted a quieter, more relaxing atmosphere. That's revenue walking off your property. The most frustrating part is that this problem seems entirely fixable. There is no reason a resort of this size can't designate at least one pool as adults only. Plenty of luxury resorts successfully balance families with adults seeking relaxation. Instead, the atmosphere felt more like a spring break party at a community pool than a luxury Scottsdale resort, with little regard for guests looking to unwind. It's a shame, because beneath those issues is a beautiful resort with excellent food, wonderful employees, comfortable accommodations, and tremendous potential. If management made guest experience a priority by actively overseeing the pool environment and creating at least one adults-only pool, we'd happily give the Miralina another chance. Until then, while we enjoyed many aspects of our stay, we wouldn't return or recommend it to friends looking for a relaxing luxury getaway. The resort has all the ingredients to be exceptional...it simply needs to decide what kind of experience it wants to offer, and what kind of clientele it wants to attract.

So the resort itself is beautiful that is why the 3 stars. Customer service is awful!!! My room was upgraded which was nice but they do not tell you that there are no elevators so we had to heave luggage up a flight of stairs that were way too dark. Major trip hazard. Also told the front desk she could have cared less. Not sure what changed from 6 years ago but wouldn't stay here again.

Comfortable stay in Scottsdale. I really enjoyed our townhouse room. I wasn't aware about the active construction going on so, many areas were closed off, and unavailable. We didn't pay much for our room so, we paid for I guess the price of this place being under construction. Our room was fairly clean, and the beds were super comfortable. There's a lot of good food options and shopping nearby, and we had a positive stay.

Spacious room

Staying at the Scottsdale Plaza Resort has been such a warm and positive experience, entirely thanks to the amazing staff. Desiree and her manager, Stacy, are superstars. Stacy welcomed us with a drink and a smile that instantly made us feel at home. They were incredibly helpful with my logistics--managing to keep us in the same upgraded room despite my separate nightly reservations. They responded to every request with positivity and grace. Even with the current construction, the service filled in all the gaps. From the front desk to the barista who served us delicious lattes with a smile, everyone made us feel special. We can't wait to come back.

Arrived at 4 pm, we were very impressed greeted by the valet and bellmen were all amazing. The front desk staff especially Meghan was very friendly, knowledgeable, and treated us like VIP guests! She apologized then explained that the main hotel was under renovation right now. Then check-in was smooth and easy. She stated you can come to desk or call after you check-out. The Two-Story King Villa the room was outstanding. A king bed modern comfortable, large TVs in both the living and bedroom with apps. There was a mini fridge, microwave oven and a coffee maker. The upstairs room had a private sunset balcony, downstairs small patio, plenty of room space, 2 bathroom (up/downstairs), a short away from 2 nice country pools/spa area. Celebrating my friend birthday, they brought a bottle of champagne and gave free espresso vouchers. Really appreciate the service and all the amenities, however the main hotel was going thru a renovations, but it didn't impact my stay. Great location with many restaurants within walking distance, including several in the shopping center and nightlife. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the resort & villas for families and anyone that seeking a true scottsdale experience else once.

Beautiful 2 story villas ours didn't have a kitchen however I loved the cozy feel. Hotel seemed run down no flowers in the pots or beds looked in kept pool was green and not maintended. Construction was going on and wasn't pleasant to here on your vacation due for a renovation. We typically bring our firestick when we travel and their cable system didn't allow it to connect which was very disappointing.

Beautiful interior area with tennis and pickleball courts. This was probably the highlight of the space. The room itself was average and the cleaning service only did half of their job somehow (half of the trash was gone and the other half still there). Nothing too special about the hotel bar. I recommend coming here for the beautiful night bonfires and light setup.

We made reservations for a staycation and the online presence is not exactly what you get when you arrive. First, half of the resort is closed which just happened a few days ago - this means no restaurants, limited pools, no spa, etc. This was not conveyed to us when booking but does explain the lower rate for rooms. When we got there, we were told we could ask for a refund or receive a 30% discount, upgraded room, and a waived resort fee. We had driven around and determined the pools had enough space for us to get chairs so we opted to stay. Still not 100% sure that was the best option...the pool was definitely lackluster - I can see why they are renovating. It doesn't appear there have been any modifications since the mid-90s. They were crowded and trash was everywhere - likely due to the large drunken group of 20somethings blasting their music. When got to our upgraded room (the two level queen villa), everything was...outdated at best. There were veggie straws behind the large wooden entertainment center. The dust on the shutters and air vents was months thick. The patio furniture was essentially ruined likely due to years of direct AZ sunlight. The decor was really out of date, dark, and just felt like we had stopped in to stay at someone's very lived in apartment. The service was good, we had plates and silverware delivered to the room for our food delivery (given the closed restaurants), and the front desk staff was accommodating. The Ritz is coming in next door so I can definitely understand why they're renovating! Will try once that's completed!

Was probably nice 20 years ago....very outdated and run down with sky high prices. Paying $1057 for 2 nights. Never again.

6 out of 8 lights not working. Not even showing the cabana cover that's ripped and falling apart.

Brennan was also really helpful at breakfast and bringing us water all the way to the retreat pool. The hotel's bio says he was the main source of inspiration for the design of the Andaz Scottsdale. The property is beautiful to walk around, with all the landscaping, flowers and trees; some of them are marked with what kind of plant they are. There are century plants and aloe and various cacti. The fitness center is located at the spa. It has windows which open up onto the pool, which is a more private pool than the main pool. The staff is outstanding. Savannah, who ran the front desk on my most recent visit, is absolutely amazing and really helped with any questions or small issues with my stay. The restaurant is wonderful for the hotel breakfast. I recommend having cocktails there too. You can see a beautiful sunset from the bar. I love the open design of this hotel resort because it makes you feel like you're in the countryside and you can admire the beautiful views of Camelback as you walk around the grounds and hear birds chirping. It's so relaxing. Parking is easy and you can usually find a spot right outside your casita room as the parking circles the hotel. Toiletries in the room smell so good! Lavender with sea salt. It's really like staying in a spa! One of my favorite experiences at this hotel was taking a late afternoon outdoor class at the spa/gym on the large lawn where we did stretching/light resistance training with the the sunset behind Camelback Mountain as the backdrop. It was glorious. I definitely recommend trying one of the classes or "experiences" if you stay here. Some of them you have to pay extra for, but a few of them are included with your room rate. At first glance the hotel interiors and architecture seem extremely simple and minimal, but then you realize it's actually all a piece of mid-century modern inspired art. It's really fun to walk around and admire all the understated design details at this hotel.

My bed itself was like sleeping on a pillow because it was so soft. I thought it would be too soft but it was one of the best nights of sleep I've had in a long time! So so comfy! The hotel has a ton of amenities, with a roof top pool, restaurant and seating area too. I did use the fitness center while I was there, although the A/C wasn't working in that part of the building so it was definitely a "hot" workout session. I happened to be there during a full moon, so that was a beautiful added touch. My only dissatisfaction was with the early check-in request. When I called customer service, they informed me about the $75 fee and the possibility they might waive it. "It's up to the clerk's discretion." We arrived around 10am (check-in is 4pm); they told us our room was ready but insisted on the charge. I declined, and she told me to check back after noon and they might waive it. We checked in around 3 and they still charged us (I've since got it removed). Long story short... if the room is ready, why not accommodate guests? The fruit platter that came with the daybed was much better than we have received at other resorts with the add in, and the meal and drink cost was on par. What we really enjoyed was that the music was at a relaxing volume, we were given free drinks as the resort wanted all guests to get into the holiday. Having the day bed from 10-6 was more than enough...we used 5 or 6 of the hours. Will definitely come back! Two knocks/challenges - figuring out where the pool actually was posed a challenge. We ended up walking around the massive property for a bit as the front desk was busy when we walked in and there wasn't good signage. When we found the pool all the entrances are locked and need a key card. Fortunately a staff memeber had walked near the gate and let us in.

From my experiences, I would not say that this hotel meets the JW Marriott standards. First of all, the rooms: As an ambassador we do not feel that we were upgraded during our stay. Mind you the hotel was not too busy, as still summertime, so we felt there was an opportunity. We were informed that we were provided a recently updated hotel room when we checked in. From my perspective the hotel room is due for another update or perhaps some touch ups-- when you review my picture, you will see behind the toilet paper roll, a piece of wallpaper was cut out in square and replaced with another square. Furniture is scratched or ruff in the bathroom as well as the living quarters. The sofa has seen better days. The quality of this room is more at a Marriott level. Given the quality of the room for a JW hotel, I knocked some stars off. Plus, the room does not give off high-quality comfort-- the bathroom had a very small shower. The shower door opening inwards, makes it feel even smaller. The bathtub in the bathroom, is a stand tub-- and perhaps even smaller that standard. I would expect a luxurious tub for this hotel. The patio furniture is basic and not comfortable to enjoy the views. Also, some better pillows would be nice. As for amenities-- the hotel only has one pool open for all guests. If you attend the SPA, there is an additional pool. As we were at the hotel during an off-season period the pool was not too busy. Given the number of chairs at the pool, I can imagine the pool being very busy during high season. The hotel's main gym is connected with the SPA. The gym offers a great amount of equipment. There is also a small gym at the pool. There is also a hiking trail at the back of the property which is a great feature to enjoy the mountains. Near the mountains, there is an event space. It looks like a wild west scene which could be great for parties and bbq. To get around the property- you can call a golf cart. Plan ahead as you may have to wait for service. During cooler times, you can definitely walk around the property. If in the back of the property, you do have to walk up hill from the lobby. You can also drive around the property- parking is included in your resort fee. As for restaurants- there are several restaurants on the property. During the summertime, the higher end restaurant, The Lincoln, was closed. Given the closure this restaurant we ate at their more causal restaurant-- the food was good and the service was excellent. This restaurant provides an excellent breakfast buffet- where the food is fresh. This property is place you come to relax, not too work. The rooms don't even provide a desk. The hotel is nestled among the desert scene with view of the mountains and access to trails. You could easily unwind here. Overall, the service was great at the hotel. The staff at check-in, around the pool and at the restaurants. The level of service we experience does match the JW quality.

I invited four girlfriends to join me, and each of them booked their own rooms. Unfortunately, after spending four days at the property, I can confidently say this was one of the most disappointing luxury hotel experiences I've ever had. The problems started at check-in. The front desk associate barely engaged with me, offered no overview of the property, amenities, or resort experience, and didn't ask whether it was my first visit. When I mentioned I was celebrating my birthday, there wasn't even a simple "Happy Birthday." I was handed a key and what turned out to be a property map, with no explanation whatsoever. My next stop was the concierge desk to inquire about pool cabanas. I was simply told they were sold out. No alternatives were offered, no waitlist was mentioned, and no effort was made to assist. Instead, I was told to look at an outside website myself. At a luxury resort, isn't the concierge's role to help guests find solutions and make arrangements? When I later asked if the resort did anything special for birthday guests, the concierge emailed me a list of items I could purchase. That response perfectly summarized the level of hospitality we experienced. The room itself was another disappointment. It felt outdated and in need of renovation, hardly what one would expect from a luxury property. Ironically, when I later visited the pool and asked an attendant about cabanas, she immediately offered to place me on a waitlist in case of cancellations--an option the concierge never bothered to mention. The following morning, I spoke with a manager, Alley, about my experience. She apologized and offered a $100 food and beverage credit, which I appreciated. However, when I returned to my room, I discovered something far more concerning: one of the pillows had visible mold on it. Since I don't sleep with pillows, I hadn't noticed it the first night. As I looked closer, I found stains on the bedding, pillows, lampshade, and even areas of the room that clearly had not been properly cleaned. Housekeeping came and changed the sheets and pillowcases, but shockingly left behind the actual moldy pillow. At that point, this had moved far beyond a service issue and into a cleanliness and health concern. I reported everything again to management. The additional response was a $50 credit. At this point, the property had failed in virtually every area that defines a luxury hotel: guest service, concierge support, cleanliness, attention to detail, and problem resolution. My friends who booked rooms experienced similar frustrations with both customer service and housekeeping. We ultimately spent much of our time dining at restaurants off property and even rented a cabana at another resort because our experience at The Phoenician was so disappointing. For a stay that cost me over $2,000, offering a total of $150 in credits felt completely out of touch with the severity of the issues. The amount wasn't the problem, it was the lack of accountability and genuine concern. I rarely leave negative reviews, but travelers should know that this property did not deliver anything close to the luxury experience it advertises. Between the poor service, moldy pillow, cleanliness concerns, and overall lack of hospitality, I cannot recommend The Phoenician. I will also be filing a complaint through Marriott Bonvoy regarding my experience. Luxury hotels are defined by service, attention to detail, and how they handle problems when they arise. Unfortunately, The Phoenician failed on all three.

We chose self-parking, which ended up being $30/day and a $.50 fee for processing via the QR code on the receipt. I find this easier than the hassle of someone grabbing items, then bringing up. Though, you will have to wheel them through the parking lot so chose which works best for you. Our Room: - King Bed + sofa - 4th Floor (highest) - Pool view + balcony (very spacious and would book a pool view in the future again) - Balmain Paris shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion which were fabulous! Dining Options (separate reviews if dined there): - Two pool bars (H2Oasis and Sandbar) - Canyon Market - Mesa Centrale - Grand Vista Lounge - La Zazonna - Tiki Taka - Room Service: I believe this is serviced by Canyon Marketplace or Mesa Centrale. A bit pricey, but enjoyed a burger to our room one night. Actually ended up preferring that one to the one served at H2Oasis. 4th of July Fireworks: - Our room had a balcony on the fourth level, and ended up being perfect for fireworks as they shoot off from behind the pool. If your room is not situated to see, there is reserved spot for hotel guests, but we chose to view from our balcony. 4th of July Festivities: DJs, live music, games, curated menus, a bald eagle in the lobby, resort specific fireworks, and more! If you are looking for a destination for your next 4th of July, I'd highly recommend this! Pools: - Adults Only (our preferred as less busy and enjoyed H2Oasis) - Family Pool Over our two night stay, we had plenty of dining and activities that we didn't leave the property. We both throughly enjoyed, and it was hard to return home even though nothing beats cat snuggles. Love to return for another staycation and will be on the lookout for other events and activities that will draw me back.

Nice enough hotel. Rooms are a fairly good size for the single person stay…read more There is seemingly a lot offered but nothing is knock your socks off exciting. The fitness area is eh. The tennis, pickleball and basketball courts are enough. The little shop on premise is okay but prices are wild. $50 for hat.... Bit much. The coffee shop is interesting to say the least. They offer some of the sizes listed on the menu but not all. The cold brew coffee has a different flavor everyday. And finally, they do not accept cash as payment. Overall it's an okay place. Not a place I would frequent back to but not a place I would complain on staying at either.
