Stained bathtub as I did a walkthrough of my hotel room. Disgusting!!!
    Rashanda J.

I love all things Marriott but this Residence Inn is a hot mess! I will never, ever, I mean ever... stay here again. This experience has been awful. I am on business travel and was expecting a nice and pleasant stay but this hotel needs to close and go through some significant renovations. First, when you walk into the hotel and inside your room, it has the most awful mildew smell. It's sickening. There are stains in the bathtub that staff claim they can't clean. Rooms are dusty, and I found a cockroach underneath the sink. Disgusting! Light switches didn't work, dresser drawers in bedroom and closet door were broken and the shower gel dispenser fell off the wall. Highly disappointed and would recommend you stay elsewhere.

I love Marriott, but this hotel is as though nobody cares. Front desk staff was nice, but this room was so gross. See the attached picture collage. 1) Blood stains on the bed comforter 2) They haven't cleaned the vents...ever! 3) The shelf was falling off the bathroom wall. Easy fix for them - but again, it's as though nobody cares. 4) Moldy shower. Recaulking would take a half hour. Again - nobody seems to care. 5) The rack for soap and shampoo in the shower was riddled with rust. We wouldn't go near it! How is this not noticed or replaced??? There were no other decent rooms available in the area, so we had to stay. When I reached out to Marriott, they didn't seem to care either. They basically said "sorry, here's a few points" that wouldn't be enough to even stay one night in that garbage property. So disappointed...

Mattress in 2 bedroom suite... stains, crumbs and hair

I would give one star however the staff did attempt to rectify the issue. Looks can be deceiving but look a little closer... under the fitted sheets the mattress was stained, debris and hair. Clearly the mattresses were not cleaned for awhile. This hotel should at least have zipped mattress covers to help these issues. I do appreciate the staff trying to resolve.

Roach hotel This room seemed clean and new at first glance but then we found a roach hanging out in the kitchen garbage disposal. Then found a dead one stuck in the time display on the oven which when opened was definitely not cleaned with crusty burnt black goop on the bottom. After eating and leaving two cups on the counter, coming back to kitchen we found two baby roaches investigating the area. At this point it was time to get out of there and while I was figuring it out, yet another baby roach came out from the dishwasher to investigate. After letting the front desk know what was going on she didn't even act concerned or surprised. No sorry or anything. This is the last time I'll be staying in Williamsburg, VA at the Residence Inn. It had only been 3 hours during the day and we've already found 5 roaches. That's unacceptable to me, and downright disgusting. We were in a two bedroom suite and requested another room on another floor. They didn't have another 2 bedroom suite, but only offered to give us a smaller room at the military rate again. What about offering to add some reward points or something else for my troubles? We did spend 15-20 mins of our time and products to disinfect the high traffic areas in the room. We politely declined and found another Marriott Hotel in the area to stay for the weekend. In this day and time travelers are much more concious of what is acceptable in a hotel room, and cleanliness and bug free are one of them I expect when staying at a Marriott.

    Breakfast tacos...free

I always love when I can get into a Residence Inn, and was excited to stay here. But when we got to our room...which was a mile away at least...I noticed window air conditioners. "This place must be old" I think to myself. After we went to bed I thought crickets were hosting a convention in our bedroom. Finally located the noise in a locked closet that was the original air conditioner. I turned the thermostat off, and the window air on. Quiet, but didn't really keep our unit cool enough. It's a warm fall in case you didn't know. While outside we look around, and we're the ONLY unit with window units. How did we get so lucky? Yes, I'm a smart aleck. I mentioned this to the front desk when checking out and they said "I'll report that" and not "I'll give you extra points or a discount." That would have made me happy happy. Also the fire alarm went off at 230 in the morning. Brief but still it brought me right up out of my bed. I called downstairs and it took a while for them to answer but they said it was a malfunction. I only mention this because I see it's happened here before from other reviews. You need to get that fixed. NOW. Other than that, this is a really nice place to stay and they do a bang up job on the free breakfast. If you get the unit with window air, just go back that mile to the front desk and tell them I said to move you to another unit.

Great hotel in a great location!

We arrived around 6:30 PM to check in on a Friday and were promptly greeted. Desk attendant acknowledged my Platinum Status and was very friendly. We were given a room on the 1st floor. Room was a two queen bedroom suite with a sofa. Room was a fair size, one tv, bed was comfortable and everything appeared clean. Breakfast each morning was good. Eggs, hash browns, a meat or apples, waffles. A very good selection. Sunday there was a large group of students. Everything was pretty good. They have a game room present with an arcade. My youngest son spent almost an hour in here on 10.00. We used the pool which had a tepid temperature and the hot tub was so so. Location is outstanding. Short drive to Colonial Williamsburg or Busch Gardens. Plenty of restaurants and other businesses nearby. Only question is the color scheme, otherwise this is a perfect option in the area. I'd definitely consider staying here again.

The in-room customer amenities are especially disappointing. The colors and quality feel dated, and the toothbrushes are extremely poor--bristles came loose while brushing, which raises both quality and hygiene concerns. The bathrobes were rough, overly dried, and clearly shrunken, making them uncomfortable to use. The restaurant also misses the mark. Several dishes felt inexpensive in both ingredients and execution: over-salted hams, cheap syrups, and overall weak preparation. The service team is lovely--and trying--but the food simply isn't at the level expected for this price point. Concierge and front desk interactions were fine, but at this rate, I expect a more thoughtful, elevated experience across the board. With some investment in better amenities, higher-quality guest products, and improved culinary standards, this could be a truly special stay. My room was large, comfortable, and in a great location with easy walking access to town. I especially enjoyed dinner at Fat Canary--excellent food and service.

There may be a family that benefits from housekeeping that swings a door into your feet at 9am, because they are hanging off of a creaky bed, but it certainly wasn't mine. Not that one would want a cigar after eating chocolate pudding that tastes like it was infused with Trix cereal or any of the other dishes who sacrifice taste for novelty. First of all, there was an instruction card that came with the reservation however while it did indicate that there is a backdoor, it did not inform that this was the 'main' entrance. There is very limited parking and if you want to park across at the church on or the street, you are at risk of towing. They have no passes for parking in these locations. The beds are their own issue. If you are vertically challenged, you will have great difficulty getting into the main beds. We stayed in a 'suite' (I use this term laughingly as it was just two connecting rooms) that had another room with twin beds. While the main bed seemed to have a mattress from the last century, the twin beds were ancient. The "pillows" that they give you are quite literally flatter than a pancake they would serve you for breakfast. The suite we stayed in was in the front of the house and there is no insulation to cancel ANY of the traffic noises from outside. It was very very stuffy inside and I wasn't able to open a window. We asked for a step stool and were given one that wasn't even as high as a normal step on a staircase. It was still very difficult to get in to the bed. At no time while I was there did I see, hear or meet the host/hostess of the B&B. The only time we met any employee was in the morning during breakfast. These ladies were AMAZING. They almost made up for the lack of any other service or greeting in their friendliness. The breakfast was late the day I was there. There are signs everywhere stating that it would be served at 8:30 but it was closer to 9:30. I'm an early riser so this was a bit of an inconvenience. At least the coffee was available. They had eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, cereal etc. It was set up as a buffet style in a very stylish area of the serving area. The dining room table is gorgeous but there are no placemats to put your plates on, I felt very worried about scratching this gorgeous table. The non guest rooms were fit with comfy areas to just relax and chill after a day of being a tourist. The furniture may not have been the most comfortable, but given how cozy each area was this was easily forgiven. I really enjoyed that each room had a Christmas tree already set up. This is not very handicapped friendly as no matter which way you enter, there are very old steps. The front steps were especially bad. To sum up; Parking; F Comfort; B Room Comfort: C+ Breakfast: A Location: A- Price: C (for our experience it was really really pricey)

The courtyard doesn't provide free coffee or breakfast. This particular courtyard I was shocked they didn't even offer coffee when it was 20 degrees outside, instead they had ice water with lemons and limes cut up in the lobby... this location should really rethink that. No one wants ice water when it's 20 outside. The place did have a conjoined indoor outdoor heated pool, we did not use it but there were kids using it. The place and room was very clean, staff were ok, not super nice and welcoming like some please.
