Charlie & Jax enjoying the king bed!

Stayed overnight on our drive down to North Carolina. We love staying at the Hampton by Hilton as they are so dog friendly. The hotel was in a great location close to restaurants and Colonial Williamsburg. The breakfast was good and the hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms and common areas were clean and there was ample parking as well as a pet relief area.

Great hotel, perfect locations. It was very quiet for us the hotel was maybe 25% full. Breakfast was standard. Waffles, omelet, cereal, juice, toast, bagels, yogurt ect. The staff was extremely helpful, and knowledgeable. They were so kind. I loved that they acknowledged our gold status and provided us with the water and snacks. I always feel awkward asking for that. But, here they were on it! The garbage can in the indoor pool area could use some TLC. It was all rusted. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Our room had a faulty door. I did inform Them about the door. It did not shut properly and people could just walk in with a key. The outdoor pool was nice and pretty well maintained. I did notice a small hazard. But, no fault to them. It's just a design flaw. Entering the pool from the stairs there is a wall that someone could hit their head on swimming around especially children who generally gravitate towards the stairs. Plus people would walk on that small wall and slip on the tile by trying to jump off the wall. The hotel is a little lax on covid protocol in regards to cleaning. But, times are changing a little. There is still hand sanitizer around.

We booked a room here for a single night to use as a weekend getaway with our pup. The hotel is advertised as dog friendly, and I confirmed when booking by calling and speaking to someone at the front desk. We had no issues with checking in and staff was hospitable to our pup. This morning, we went out to the designated dog area for a potty break and walked back into the lobby where breakfast was being set up on the car side of the room. My dog and I stopped in the lobby briefly to determine if I wanted to her breakfast/coffee. As I was pondering (all of about 15-20 seconds) a staff member approaches me and states "unless your dog is a service dog, he can't be out of your room". We were not around anyone, and my dog is extremely well behaved. I returned my dog to the room with my husband before returning to the breakfast area where several other patrons asked me what the staff member whispered to me and expressed their disappointment in the staff. I have not seen a single other dog owner spoken to about having their dogs out of their room. In fact, there were 2-3 hanging out in the lobby last night with their owners while they drank coffee. I know it's a slight annoyance, but to be singled out by the staff when there have been at least 15-20 other dogs seen here since we checked in, it's enough to put a bad taste in my mouth about rebooking here in the future. Additionally, the entire hotel is hot and muggy. Walking outside, it felt like the outside air was cooler (78° mild moderate humidity). We thought it may just be the lobby due to the indoor pool, but it's all the hallways, lobby and elevators as well. Our room AC unit could barely keep up in the night to try and cool our room down. We also had some key issues several hours after we checked in, but that was fixed quickly at the front desk. Overall, the room served its purpose, but the lackluster staff and staff arm temps made the hotel less inviting for the future.

    sheets after unfolding bed

Hotel staff was nice but our room was disgusting. Blood colored stains on the fabric bed frame, sheets on the beds smelled like mildew and had stains on them. There was dirt and fingerprints EVERYWHERE!! I'm not picky about hotels but i barely wanted to sleep in the bed! The bathroom was dusty and had what looked like poop stains up the side of the wall by the toilet. Never again would i stay here i wouldn't pay $20 for this room!

I was not impressed by this Hampton Inn. I was only there for a meeting but there were gnats flying around everywhere. The staff also weren't that great. I am glad that I am not staying here.

Love this Hampton Inn & Suites location in Williamsburg! We've stayed here several times, in fact I am currently writing this review from our room after we checked in! Besides checking in via the front desk, they also offer online check in through the Hilton Honors app, and you can get a digital room key, which has been very convenient during our stays. Also love that they offer complimentary coffee, tea, & hot chocolate once you enter the lobby right in front of the front desk. There's also an indoor pool & outdoor pool, and a gym here. I've noticed that different rooms have different amenities, the last time we stayed here, there wasn't a microwave in the room, but this time, we reserved the King Studio suite w/ Sofa Bed and they have a microwave & a mini fridge here. If you get a room without a microwave, there is one located downstairs directly in back of the front desk, where they also sell microwaveable meals, snacks, drinks, and toiletries. I'm the morning they offer continental breakfast in the lobby area. They also have lots of parking & if you're a Diamond member, there are Diamond member parking located to the right of the front entrance. We love this place! We were in room #106 on the 1st Floor, highly recommend! It's near everything, the front desk, business center, gym, pool, hot drinks, & continental breakfast, all on the 1st floor.

I have a problem with tipping culture. If you don't, then move onto the next paragraph :-) there is a huge tip jar in the area where you have breakfast in the morning. I get the food myself, I throw away the plates etc myself, no one helps me with anything. I'm barely saw that the person who makes the breakfast, she probably makes at least minimum wage if not more. With the inflation prices and the cost of gas, I can't throw away money everywhere I go. Every store in this town asks if we want to round up for one thing or another. Literally every store we went to. There was no waitress to help me with breakfast, no chitchat, no waiting on us. Also, usually they have two metal buffet pans that each hold two breakfast items, for a total of four. One was empty and cold. Nothing offered. The room was comfortable enough, the beds are extremely firm which I love. The pillows start out great and then they go flat. The sheets are rather rough. One other thing I didn't care for was that the light switch to the bathroom was so far away from the doorway, and hidden kind of below the hairdryer cord, then in the middle of the night you had to search for it. There's no fan on the vent in the shower/bathroom area. The staff was nice. I would actually probably stay here again. It's very clean. We stayed at the room literally attached to the back of the elevators and slept fine. I cranked the air conditioning all the way down to 65. Very nice. Our room did not have a refrigerator but my son's did. Weird. Paid the same.

Room was very clean but hotel is old and showing it's age. Entire hotel felt too warm but when we turned on air conditioning, it was very cold. There was no comfortable setting. Requested a feather free room due to allergies and was told they were "never informed" despite it being on the reservation made several days in advance. They were able to change the pillows for us though. The breaking point was there was no fridge which is standard in most Hampton Inns. Would not stay again because of this and the discomfort with the temperature. Only 1 of the 2 elevators working made things very slow. Staff was very kind.

    Top of fridge

One star is too much. When we first entered our room, i said, "where's the furniture?" The room seemed more like a cell. Clearly this place is showing it's age. One small example, no USB ports, let alone usable electrical outlets. We were given a "standard" room, which had no fridge or microwave; apparently, only the "suite" rooms have them. We were able to beg for at least a fridge. This is totally different from every other Hampton Inn we have experienced. The manager said that's just how it was. So be it, we will never be back to this hole. Oh, and the front desk people were robots not displaying the slightest humanity.

We arrived around 6:30 PM to check in on a Friday and were promptly greeted. Desk attendant acknowledged my Platinum Status and was very friendly. We were given a room on the 1st floor. Room was a two queen bedroom suite with a sofa. Room was a fair size, one tv, bed was comfortable and everything appeared clean. Breakfast each morning was good. Eggs, hash browns, a meat or apples, waffles. A very good selection. Sunday there was a large group of students. Everything was pretty good. They have a game room present with an arcade. My youngest son spent almost an hour in here on 10.00. We used the pool which had a tepid temperature and the hot tub was so so. Location is outstanding. Short drive to Colonial Williamsburg or Busch Gardens. Plenty of restaurants and other businesses nearby. Only question is the color scheme, otherwise this is a perfect option in the area. The in-room customer amenities are especially disappointing. The colors and quality feel dated, and the toothbrushes are extremely poor--bristles came loose while brushing, which raises both quality and hygiene concerns. The bathrobes were rough, overly dried, and clearly shrunken, making them uncomfortable to use. The restaurant also misses the mark. Several dishes felt inexpensive in both ingredients and execution: over-salted hams, cheap syrups, and overall weak preparation. The service team is lovely--and trying--but the food simply isn't at the level expected for this price point. Concierge and front desk interactions were fine, but at this rate, I expect a more thoughtful, elevated experience across the board. With some investment in better amenities, higher-quality guest products, and improved culinary standards, this could be a truly special stay. My room was large, comfortable, and in a great location with easy walking access to town. I especially enjoyed dinner at Fat Canary--excellent food and service.

First of all, there was an instruction card that came with the reservation however while it did indicate that there is a backdoor, it did not inform that this was the 'main' entrance. There is very limited parking and if you want to park across at the church on or the street, you are at risk of towing. They have no passes for parking in these locations. The beds are their own issue. If you are vertically challenged, you will have great difficulty getting into the main beds. We stayed in a 'suite' (I use this term laughingly as it was just two connecting rooms) that had another room with twin beds. While the main bed seemed to have a mattress from the last century, the twin beds were ancient. The "pillows" that they give you are quite literally flatter than a pancake they would serve you for breakfast. The suite we stayed in was in the front of the house and there is no insulation to cancel ANY of the traffic noises from outside. It was very very stuffy inside and I wasn't able to open a window. We asked for a step stool and were given one that wasn't even as high as a normal step on a staircase. It was still very difficult to get in to the bed. At no time while I was there did I see, hear or meet the host/hostess of the B&B. The only time we met any employee was in the morning during breakfast. These ladies were AMAZING. They almost made up for the lack of any other service or greeting in their friendliness. The breakfast was late the day I was there. There are signs everywhere stating that it would be served at 8:30 but it was closer to 9:30. I'm an early riser so this was a bit of an inconvenience. At least the coffee was available. They had eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, cereal etc. It was set up as a buffet style in a very stylish area of the serving area. The dining room table is gorgeous but there are no placemats to put your plates on, I felt very worried about scratching this gorgeous table. The non guest rooms were fit with comfy areas to just relax and chill after a day of being a tourist. The furniture may not have been the most comfortable, but given how cozy each area was this was easily forgiven. I really enjoyed that each room had a Christmas tree already set up. This is not very handicapped friendly as no matter which way you enter, there are very old steps. The front steps were especially bad. The courtyard doesn't provide free coffee or breakfast. This particular courtyard I was shocked they didn't even offer coffee when it was 20 degrees outside, instead they had ice water with lemons and limes cut up in the lobby... this location should really rethink that.
