I've stayed at Marriott properties countless times over the past 25 years. This Residence Inn has to be the most run down, poorly managed, rarely cleaned Marriott hotel I have ever stayed in. First impressions were that the property was old; pool was cloudy, floors dirty, every door down our hallway was filthy with grime. Our room was not stocked with bedding for the pullout couch bed. The gentleman working the front desk stated he would bring a blanket up to us. The blanket he brought was torn and covered in someone else's hair (see pics). He was apologetic when I returned the blanket and said it was the only one he could find. He went back to the 2nd floor with me and looked in the laundry closet. He came out empty handed and said the only blanket in there was stained, so he wasn't going to give that one to me. He then went to another floor and shortly after, delivered us a clean looking and clean smelling blanket. Side note: in the morning I overheard someone speaking with the woman at the front desk about this man working the previous evening and she was apologizing saying it was either his first or second night working and that she'd review those training items with him. He was the ONLY employee in the building that evening. Why in the world would you do that to a brand new employee? The bathroom had a deep soon-to-be hole worn into the toilet seat, and a big crack in the plastic all around the tub faucet. The floor looked as if someone swept the hair and debris into a corner when the room was previously "cleaned". The central air conditioning appears to be broken. Our room had two portable AC units attached to the windows in the living space and bedroom. Breakfast was very disappointing. Soggy on the outside and hard/chewy on the inside sausage pancake on a stick, very pale watery eggs, luke warm coffee...and in the 15 minutes we were in the breakfast area, everything had to be restocked; guests were constantly going to the kitchen pantry door to ask the woman working for something else that had run out. There was no fresh fruit or hard boiled eggs, nothing that appeared to be or tasted fresh at all. Even my 12 year old commented that he felt like he was going to "get food poisoning from this place", and he usually really enjoys hotel breakfast. It's unfortunate that corporate or state level for Marriott obviously doesn't tour every property frequently. This one needs a LOT of attention.

This is the air you'll be breathing. DISGUSTING!!

Well apparently most folks who've stayed here are very generous or not very seasoned travelers. Not proud I'm the later but folks, I've stayed in aloooot of places and this one is abit run down. They greeted me with "what you want?" Only in North Texas do I get this hospitality. Oh well. Steer clear. The place needs updated. Curtains torn and old nasty smells. As a diamond Marriott member I usually don't stay at this old hole. I stayed 1 night then went next door to Fairfield.

We stayed here this past weekend during a family weekend getaway in Amarillo. My in-laws, being avid Marriott supporters, always stay at the Fairfield Inn right next door. When they adopted their two pups, they switched to the Residence Inn across the street because they allow pets. This made it nice for us because we have a pup, too! The total fee for the pet deposit was $100 for all three dogs. My in-laws booked a suite. The suite had two separate rooms, each with a private bath, and a shared family room in the center. There was a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and a fully stocked kitchen (utensils). The breakfast was truly standout. The eggs tasted fresh and not like a powdered mixture. They had two waffle makers that made four tiny waffles. It was delicious and we ate waffles, eggs and sausage each morning. The coffee was fresh and actually pretty decent for a hotel. It saved us so much money to have breakfast at the hotel each morning. The breakfast staff made our experience even more enjoyable. While our stay was very comfortable, there are a few things that I need to mention. First, the pool was swarming with children even after the time when it was "adults only" and the rooms were not adequately cleaned. My dog, Bailey, found a nylabone underneath the bedskirt. When I lifted the bedskirt, I saw popcorn kernels and dirt -- showing that it had not been cleaned in a long time. If you are going to charge for a pet deep clean, please deep clean the room. The carpet in the family area was also pretty grungy. I have noticed that numerous people have shared this same complaint (to which management has even acknowledge on Yelp) and still we are having the same problem. This is something that housekeeping should be keeping up with on a daily basis and makes me nervous about what else is not properly cleaned. I would love to stay here again. And next time, I hope that management has stepped up their game and finally acknowledged a cleanliness issue that continues to be a problem.

Clean room and very comfortable. It is my top choice now when staying in Amarillo!

Aside from the hospitality, I am guessing the kickback hour is a big draw as well. They are also pet friendly. We were on a roadtrip to Colorado and decided to spend the night on our way back. There were 2 tour buses when we arrived and it looked like we just missed the crowd at check-in. The front desk folks were an epitome of Texas hospitality. Friendly, laid back and the ladies just made us feel so welcome. We were given 3 drink coupons each for kickback hour. Our 2 queen room on the 2nd floor didn't have much of a view but it was homey and quiet. Kickback hour was busy but staff were surprisingly very accommodating. Their margaritas will give you a buzz. They have hot food items, soup and a salad for the complimentary light dinner. For those that have not stayed at a Drury Inn before, the kickback hour is similar to Embassy Suites' evening reception, but WAY better. We slept surprisingly well, considering the hotel's proximity to the highway. We had no problems with the ac either. Breakfast was better than your typical hotel breakfast with a bunch of options. We did not get to use the other facilities because we had to head out early. This was our first time staying at a Drury property. I'm normally a Hilton and Marriott girl but I'll definitely choose Drury if there is one available in my future destinations. We also appreciate the military discount they offer. One of the biggest issues was the lack of consistent air conditioning throughout the building, which made common areas feel uncomfortable at times. I also found the terrace layout inconvenient since there are no stairs providing direct access, making it less practical than expected. Unfortunately, the room had a funky odor when I arrived that never completely went away during my stay. While the staff was courteous and the location was convenient, the overall experience didn't match the quality I expected. With some renovations and improved upkeep, this hotel could be a much better place to stay.

I am the single mom who brought her kids here to share the Mesquite room on October 9-10, 2022. This bed and breakfast is located in a somewhat remote area of Amarillo, Texas. The surrounding landscape is a bit reminiscent of Palo Duro Canyon - which is just a short drive away - but not in an extreme way that the Lone Star state park yields. The view from the hot tub at 7:30PM was amazing with a glorious display of sunset colors. Robes were provided behind the bathroom door. Near the pond on the old red, white, and blue amusement park ride chair, we found a walking stick. A friendly orange Tabby cat kept returning to our front door. My 8 and 9-year-old couldn't resist petting the stray feline. We weren't crazy about the continental breakfast which comprised of a cherry turnover, Yoplait yogurt, and Tropicana apple juice so we'll pass on that if we don't stay on a morning when they offer a hot meal. Just a couple of other cons: I leave to pick up pizza in town and someone takes my spot in front of our door. Lol. Also, my stupid Sprint/T-mobile coverage was terrible here. The other accomodations definitely overrode the somewhat lacking Monday morning breakfast: quiet neighborhood, calm weather, microwave, mini fridge, iron & board, lots of programs on the TV, free Wi-Fi, walk-in shower, and private gated area with code access.

We stayed in the Pinion. The positives. It's remote and really close to Palo Duro Canyon (18 minutes) That was nice. It's about 12 minutes from the Big Texan. It's in a pretty setting. The bed was comfy. We stay at B&B's because there is a level of expectation where hospitality takes over and you feel like you were being treated like royalty. This is not that place. It almost felt like our stay was a little bit of an inconvenience. The room is small and very dated, but covered in wood plank and not very clean. A lot of dust. This particular room did not have a shower and only a bath tub with the hot water trickles out. I'm not joking. It took about 30 minutes to fill the bathtub. Tip 1. Make sure to ask if the room you are booking has a shower if you're needing a shower for medical reasons or handicap accessibility. According to one of the reviews, and in their pictures, there appeared to be a nice shower in the mesquite, but we weren't given the chance to stay there. Once you get in the room, you're given two towels for the bath and two towels for the hot tub. I uncovered the hot tub to see that the water was very cloudy and it wasn't a result of the bubbles. So I put the cover right back on. They don't give you anything with respect to toiletries when it comes to soap or shampoo or lotions or bath bomb. So it really does feel like you're not being pampered. Bed And Breakfast should always feel like you're being pampered. And inside the room, you're not giving any type of bottled water, filtered water and so you rely on the bathroom sink in the bathroom tub. Which I thought was really bad. The outside of the room was covered in Pineneedles on the walkway, and so we tracked some into a room. When we were trying to get into the door, some even to get into the wheels of our suitcase. It was kind of annoying. The area is just really dated and not well kept. However, that does give it a very rustic feel and so if you're into that kind of thing that it may suit your fancy. It does have a really cute cat that keeps you company in the random deer that you will see from time to time. Overall, I'm sure it meets the needs of a specific clientele that would enjoy that atmosphere but when I go to a bed-and-breakfast, I consider myself to be high maintenance. So they certainly could meet the need a specific individuals however, it's not a place that I would really return to .
