However- when we left without staying because we called the police- it's hard to not go there. I've stayed at Marriott properties countless times over the past 25 years. This Residence Inn has to be the most run down, poorly managed, rarely cleaned Marriott hotel I have ever stayed in. First impressions were that the property was old; pool was cloudy, floors dirty, every door down our hallway was filthy with grime. Our room was not stocked with bedding for the pullout couch bed. The gentleman working the front desk stated he would bring a blanket up to us. The blanket he brought was torn and covered in someone else's hair (see pics). He was apologetic when I returned the blanket and said it was the only one he could find. He went back to the 2nd floor with me and looked in the laundry closet. He came out empty handed and said the only blanket in there was stained, so he wasn't going to give that one to me. He then went to another floor and shortly after, delivered us a clean looking and clean smelling blanket. Side note: in the morning I overheard someone speaking with the woman at the front desk about this man working the previous evening and she was apologizing saying it was either his first or second night working and that she'd review those training items with him. He was the ONLY employee in the building that evening. Why in the world would you do that to a brand new employee? The bathroom had a deep soon-to-be hole worn into the toilet seat, and a big crack in the plastic all around the tub faucet. The floor looked as if someone swept the hair and debris into a corner when the room was previously "cleaned". The central air conditioning appears to be broken. Our room had two portable AC units attached to the windows in the living space and bedroom. Breakfast was very disappointing. Soggy on the outside and hard/chewy on the inside sausage pancake on a stick, very pale watery eggs, luke warm coffee...and in the 15 minutes we were in the breakfast area, everything had to be restocked; guests were constantly going to the kitchen pantry door to ask the woman working for something else that had run out. There was no fresh fruit or hard boiled eggs, nothing that appeared to be or tasted fresh at all. Even my 12 year old commented that he felt like he was going to "get food poisoning from this place", and he usually really enjoys hotel breakfast. It's unfortunate that corporate or state level for Marriott obviously doesn't tour every property frequently. This one needs a LOT of attention. read more

Would not recommend anyone stay here. It is is need of a lot of repair. Paint peeing on the walls. They are cheap AF on the air conditioning. I have the thermostat set to 64. My thermometer says it's 74. Forget about a hot shower. Luke warm at best. Apparently saving money on a/c and hot water but not reinvesting back. It's conveniently located from the interstate. It's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working. I was greeted at the front desk by a young person who was so very positive and that did their best to make sure I got the room I wanted. There are several nearby chain type restaurants that can accommodate a family and some have bars so if you're a single person you can sit and eat. Many have reasonable good tasting take out. Of course the nearby suburbs have lots of really good individually and family-owned restaurants with different types of food. They also have returned to serving a hot breakfast. It was typical fare and was hot and plentiful. They had the usual good stuff where you make your own waffles and have sausage scrambled egg and fresh fruit, juice, muffins, bagels and stuff like that. I have to say I was very pleased that the attention the staff made to making sure breakfast food was hot plentiful. I always tip the breakfast person and housekeeping, it's an old school way of thinking and I hope people consider adopting it in these times. They suggested a local restaurant for a reasonable good tasting take out. The rooms were clean and well appointed as well as modern and quiet. I would stay there again. It's fairly close some good breakfast places should you not want to eat breakfast at the hotel. When I registered I registered directly with the hotel by phone. I find I get better results with the type of room I want. read more

Hotel is outdated and does not compare to other Residence Inn's we've stayed at. We always try to find a hotel with a hot tub. Theirs was out of service. Breakfast was supposed to be till 10:00. I have stayed here a couple of times on the past year. The hotel is generally clean, but it is in need of an update. The carpet in my room had dozens of stains and was badly frayed in places. There were also stains on some of the furniture, such as the couch. The breakfast bar was also bad on this last visit. Marriotts usually have a standard breakfast that is boring but meets the need when traveling. I've never seen a warmer of scrambled eggs that looked as bad as the one at this hotel. This last trip the place was also not restful as it had multiple guests with barking dogs. Why do pet owners feel free to leave their dogs in a room and head off to an early breakfast? It's not so much a bad dog, as it is a bad owner. read more

We stayed there on the evening of the 26 June, 2023. The air conditioning was horrible. We had a King Suite (w/ 2 king beds, 1 sofa bed). I went down to tell them and the staff was very friendly and gave us 2 separate king rooms. Both King rooms had good air conditioning. One of the king rooms had dead bugs all around the room. We had to go back down to get a different room. They were able to provide us with a different room. Will not be staying there again. Facilities need updated and the pool is not working. read more

Joni at the front desk was a joy. She was so pleasant to talk to and very attentive and helpful the few times I had to call down to ask questions. She is a great asset to Redidence Inn and Marriott. As for the property, the air conditioning works, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. For once in my life I had to turn it up because I was cold. The bed was comfortable and there are plenty of outlets and lights. The only downside is that walking down the hall, it smelled like dog pretty bad. We stayed here this past weekend during a family weekend getaway in Amarillo. My in-laws, being avid Marriott supporters, always stay at the Fairfield Inn right next door. When they adopted their two pups, they switched to the Residence Inn across the street because they allow pets. This made it nice for us because we have a pup, too! The total fee for the pet deposit was $100 for all three dogs. My in-laws booked a suite. The suite had two separate rooms, each with a private bath, and a shared family room in the center. There was a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and a fully stocked kitchen (utensils). The breakfast was truly standout. The eggs tasted fresh and not like a powdered mixture. They had two waffle makers that made four tiny waffles. It was delicious and we ate waffles, eggs and sausage each morning. The coffee was fresh and actually pretty decent for a hotel. It saved us so much money to have breakfast at the hotel each morning. The breakfast staff made our experience even more enjoyable. While our stay was very comfortable, there are a few things that I need to mention. First, the pool was swarming with children even after the time when it was "adults only" and the rooms were not adequately cleaned. My dog, Bailey, found a nylabone underneath the bedskirt. When I lifted the bedskirt, I saw popcorn kernels and dirt -- showing that it had not been cleaned in a long time. If you are going to charge for a pet deep clean, please deep clean the room. The carpet in the family area was also pretty grungy. I have noticed that numerous people have shared this same complaint (to which management has even acknowledge on Yelp) and still we are having the same problem. This is something that housekeeping should be keeping up with on a daily basis and makes me nervous about what else is not properly cleaned. I would love to stay here again. And next time, I hope that management has stepped up their game and finally acknowledged a cleanliness issue that continues to be a problem. read more

We were extremely underwhelmed with this location. As Platinum Members of Marriott, we have stayed at quite a few of their hotels, of course. Never before have we seen a category 3 hotel in such disarray. Every cart we found available for use (to bring our bags up to the room) were broken as if someone had swung from the top rung and they just never bothered to replace it. A/C was not working at all. Turned off when we arrived and showing a temp of 81 degrees (IN TEXAS) we quickly turned the "Cool" setting on and never saw it dip below 79 all evening. Stains all over the carpet and on the spare bedding, red stains near the nightstands look to be some type of liquid and dark greasy stains near the kitchenette area. All kitchen appliances and utensils were dirty and covered in burnt on food. No soap anywhere to clean dishes or to wash your hands at the kitchen sink. Shower was clogged so we were standing in 2-3 inches of water while showering. Front door to the entire hotel was broken, literally had to pry it open this morning to leave with our stuff. Only positives: Receptionist was nice, ice machine worked. read more

Just returned from a week with the family there and below are the Pros and Cons: Pros: * 2 King bedrooms with doors * 2 bathrooms, 1 full / 1 HC * 3 TVs * Full size refrigerator, stove top, MW, dishwasher Cons: * Breakfast, pool and fitness rooms were closed due to CV19 * We found dirty dishes that were put back in the cabinet with the clean dishes * Milk had spilled in the back of the fridge and spoiled, and there was a strange odor coming from the garbage disposal * Room service did not clean the room during our stay. We'd leave early in the morning and return around 2:30 in the afternoon RS never made it to our room. Even after we asked them if they could clean the room by 1:30, they never did. Would we stay there again? I think so. The 2 full rooms for a mom, dad and a teenager really worked out well. We would just be more aggressive about having the room cleaned and hopefully, next time, the CV19 canceled amenities will be available. read more

Broken ice machines, inoperable light over kitchen area, small number of luggage carts to move luggage and an overall tired, smelly, dirty facility. Wonderful Stay! Great customer service that informed me on everything they had to offer as I checked in. I arrived late in the evening and that wasn't a problem to them at all. Actually when I called to inform them I would be arriving late the sweet lady on the phone was more concerned about me driving safely. She also told me to not worry about the time & they would be there whenever I arrived. Anytime I'm in Amarillo this place is my first pick. Rooms (king): Wonderful size and very clean. Great large living area and wonderful size kitchen. It had everything you could need- including a ice maker and all dish-ware. Plus large refrigerator. The bed was so comfortable. If I could give this hotel negative stars I would. You are risking your health staying here. Apparently, only the lobby has working a/c. The hotel's solution to this is to use portable air cooling units. The first room they gave me was a "cool" 78 degrees. No thank you. The second room was cooler but smelled like cat piss because the cooling unit was spitting water all over and never drying. There was pooled water on the top of the unit with mold floating in the water. I've stayed in Marriotts all over the US and never walked out of one until today. I can't get a refund "because I checked in" but would rather lose money than get legionnaires disease. The whole situation is appalling and shameful. I guess Hilton will now be my hotel of choice. read more

We made reservations here for our recent out-of-state move during the whole COVID19 thing. I was hesitate to stay in a hotel during this scary time, but they assured us that they were taking extra precautions with cleaning and so forth. The room we stayed in was nice and big. A small kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom with a separate vanity area. Everything seemed adequately clean except the bathtub! They really need to clean the bathtubs a little better with good old Clorox or Comet - or something that will get the "dingy" brown out of the tub! There were also body hairs from the previous guest all inside the tub. If it wasn't for the bathroom issue, I would've given them a 5! read more

2 stars because the woman who checked me in last night was awesome and should get 5 stars. Sweet as pie, and that's the highlight of the stay. The Marriott App says it's pet friendly, and it is. No where on the app could I find where it says there is a $50 non-refundable deposit though. Apparently that is a cleaning fee which I'm guessing they just go ahead and pocket because if the extra bag of linens was any indication of their cleaning policy, I'm guessing they don't use that $59 for additional cleaning. The extra linens were filthy and incomplete, I had to go to the front desk to ask for more and still didn't get a pillow case. There's a good chance I'll never be in Amarillo again, but if I am, I won't be staying here. read more

I don't know where to start because I have stayed at Residence Inns all over the place and this one is not feel like a typical Marriott property. It's old and it feels old. I had to change rooms because my AC was not working. The room I got had an annoying noise. Sounded like a dryer bumping or something but all.night.long! I asked the young lady what it could be and she said prob the HVAC system.. alrighty then. Carpet stains in bathroom area. Also the toilet barely flushed and then finally it clogged. Had to have maintenance clear it. Breakfast was ok...but just seemed sparse. It was hard to get in and out of it because it's right on I-40. Everyone was friendly..that was a plus. It was clean. This was a pretty nice hotel! I stayed here in the middle of my drive from Denver to Dallas as a stopping point and it was perfect for the occasion. We got a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchenette and a living room area that even had a little fire place. It was nice to have such a nice comfortable place to come in and relax at after hours of driving. The beds were pretty comfortable and the showers were fine. The woman at the front desk was very friendly as well. They also offered a complimentary breakfast that was pretty good. It included eggs, make your own waffles, coffee, yogurt with different toppings and some other things. I plan to come back on my return drive! read more

I stayed at Residence Inns a lot in the past 15 years because the old company I worked for put us up in R.I. for about 8 weeks during training. I liked the feel of a small apartment with a little kitchen, a couch, and the free HOT breakfast in the morning. First, I would like to acknowledge all the COVIDiots out there calling out the staff for not being "Covid-Safe": Get a life! If you're so worried about getting sick (Californians, New Mexicans, New York,other liberals) stay home and leave the rest of us alone! They had signs everywhere about wearing masks and the staff wore their stupid slave muzzles, so SHUT IT. The difference is, they don't enforce the masks on people who choose not to live in fear, because they shouldn't have to enforce it, it's not their job. Again, go take your COVIDiot crap back to the West/East Coast and STFU. Two stars for this stupid corporate conglomerate allowing this COVID scare to ruin their business. I've stayed at this hotel a couple times without incident. On this occasion I arrived with my elderly father in a wheelchair. When booking I had called requesting a mobility accessible 2 bdrm room...so he can get his chair in, bath and I can have a 2nd room to assist. I was told, not a problem. When I arrived, they don't have such a thing. After fuming a bit, I asked that I at least get a room where I can get him in easily. No problem, she said, we have a room on the north side, near the north entrance just park on that side and go in, second room on the left...sounds easy right? She seemed to forget there were 6 stairs to get from the north entrance into the hallway. Easy for most, not so much for a wheelchair. We had to push him back to the front entrance, through hallways and to our room...I was not happy. If we didn't have someone with special needs the place is great, clean, large, great breakfast but, in this day and age, you'd think they'd understand ADA laws, needs and accommodations. read more

Love this place, The lady at the front named Tabatha was very helpful and always there when we needed her to extend our stay. Our suite was very nice and had a lot of good qualities that you would just don't find in other hotels. The three TVs was also an added bonus. The free breakfast and dinner was very helpful so we didn't have to go out and find anything to eatjust the usual at calico County and buns over Texas both of which are amazing lunch places the pool even though it's an indoor pool is good and has fresh water. It holds up to the Marriott standard and I am so happy that we got our extra night here will definitely be staying here every time we go to Amarillo read more

Was driving through Amarillo, Tx and needed a room for the night. Hotel looked a little dingy and not sure if the room was totally cleaned. There was food left in the fridge and trash in the trash cans when I checked it out. Sheets already on the sofa bed with crumbs all over it. We were traveling from California and we were so exhausted, we just dealt with it. In the morning, my husband specifically asked the front desk what time check out was and she told him 12 noon. We loaded up our car with our belongings except for our food and we went to run some errands. We got back to the hotel around 11:30am to get the rest of our things before we headed back in the road and they had already cleaned our room and threw out our food!! Totally unacceptable. We always stay at Marriott hotels and this was the worst, thus far. If I could give zero stars, I would. read more

Now working on a project in downtown Amarillo, the Residence Inn was "home" last week, and will be for the coming weeks. I'm managing a team who has stayed here weekly for several months, and the front desk couldn't be nicer. However, a bit of eavesdropping indicates that being nice extends to all guests. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and equipped with most of the requirements needed by extended-stay guests; a luggage stand would be a nice addition. My first experience here found me on the second floor, and the single elevator is fast. The water pressure is, however, abysmal, and the hot water supply seems to be inadequate. Breakfast is bare-bones, and with limited selection. These gripes aside, everything else regarding the Residence Inn property appears-- after my first week-- to be spot-on. Note that this motel is 15+ minutes from the airport, and 10 minutes from downtown. There are a few dining spots within walking distance, but you're likely to need a car. In summary, after my first visit, "pretty good." read more

The hotel itself is typical Res Inn. Nothing special about the amenities or room from a design perspective. But the staff...the staff were great! From the moment walked in to the day I left the staff was courteous, professional, and very friendly. Not that it pertained to me, but it is a pet friendly hotel.
