So when I received another call I did go ahead and scheduled an appointment and it was so fun, the people were super nice! And I got called back again - I have a lot to say about my SUV or the ones I didn't buy so I love doing these surveys because I can express my concerns/likes/ etc As long as they call me back I will def do these! 3.5-4 stars Truthfully, when I received a survey from RDS in the mail, I was a bit skeptical and even a bit when they called to schedule a survey. The only frustration for me was that multiple reps called me before I was to go in and each rep asked me the same questions. I don't know if it's to verify but asking the same questions 3 times doesn't really show professionalism. And also them not knowing when I was scheduled, calling to leave a voicemail about having me come in. When I called to let them know that I am scheduled, they had to take a look further into their system and see that I am. They do not allow you to bring your keys, cell phone, water, or use the restroom while taking the survey. I am a person who constantly needs to hydrate and I was feeling the effects of not hydrating for 3+ hours or being able to use the restroom. Be prepared to be on your feet the whole time as well. Difficult for those who are physically handicapped. I saw a few that had trouble staying on their feet that they found a chair in the corner and were using it. If you guys want thoughtful responses from people taking surveys: maybe allow them to stay hydrated, use the restrooms, and even let us know be on our feet for 3+ hours. For the time told to complete the survey, it really does take that much time. Allow the full time mentioned for the survey. You have been forewarned... Some of the workers were nice, as you had to constantly interact with them, while others were just talking amongst themselves and just physically helping you with the paperwork. You are handed a check once you complete your survey, before you leave. Overall, it was an interesting experience as I like to be able to provide feedback on the topic presented. I pretty much gave them about 15 minutes of my time answering all the questions they had at which point they said, "Let me check your spot. Oh sorry we don't have room for you". WTF! Appears that they were able to extract all the information they needed without having to pay me what they promised. If you get this offer. The whole experience was SUPER COOL. When I was contacted by them via mail, I was hesitant. I did my research on them to see if they were actually legitimate and found that they were. I completed the online survey and they followed up with me a few days later for confirmation and set me up with a date and time to stop in as a research participant. Upon arrival I was really scared it'd be a sketchy place (there's a lot to be cautious about lately with all that's happening in the world so call me paranoid). It was actually beautiful blue, glassy building. There's people everywhere. The location itself is right next to an open street ! Definitely a friendly and safe area. All employee are very polite and efficient in helping the process go by smoothly. I can see where people complain about the standing because for most of the 2-3 hrs you're standing with a clipboard going to certain stations, but hey you're getting paid quite a LOT. (I received $125 at the very end as promised). It just makes sense that people stand so I don't get what all the complaint is about. Hope to do something like this in the future again!! So I received a letter from them regarding possibly being selected to go to their office and participate in auto research for future vehicles and I would receive $150. I called answered a few questions and I was selected. There is a date range and time you select. I showed up checked in phone and watch. The process is time consuming almost the 3 hours advertised, you will fill out allot of forms lots of writing . I got to sit in multiple vehicles and provide some honest feedback like no future car should have usba ports they should all be USBC . Received a letter to participate and receive a $50 check or gift card. Went online and answered all the questions and then they asked for my preference of a check or gift card. selected a check. Talked to them 6 times over the next 3 months and each time I was told they would look into it and get back. They never did. on the 7 the call I was told that the survey I took was only to "pre-qualify" me to for participation. Just completed the Houston event and it was a great time. Professional and friendly staff running the show. They made it fun and stress free. Event was held at a very nice hotel. Was not sketchy at all. Went to three different stations If you will to give opinions and make suggestions. If you want to spend a few hours meeting new people and offering your insight and opinions (and get paid for it) - it is legit. I still have both kidneys, did not wake up in a tub of ice and had fun! Read the instructions ahead of time, so you're not surprised about putting your belongings in a locker. Cell phones, watches, handbags, etc. are not allowed in the research area. I registered with the company in 2008 (approximately) when I purchased my Altima. I would get calls to come over and do different market research for them.... it was very fun and exciting. Years later, the research that I did for them led me to purchase one of the cars from a research project-Ford Fusion Hybrid. Now, it seems that they have really scraped the bottom of the barrel as far as the employees that schedule the appointments. They called 3 times about getting me into a survey to have me answer all the questions and schedule the time and then say "that segment is full" one time the scheduler didn't even put my information in until she got off the phone with me and then had to call back and tell me. Finally, someone canceled and they scheduled me. A couple of days before the project they called my phone to confirm the appointment this weekend for SOMEONE ELSE. What is even worse is that they called and I answered and they asked for the person and I told them they had the wrong number. These incompetent people called back and left a message for that same person. Now I have had this phone number for 18 years and I have been registered with this company for almost 10 years now all of a sudden they get my profile mixed up with someone else??? Then when you call in, the people ask you the most inane questions because they do not listen. I hope the people at the actual site are not this bad. read more

I have done several of these vehicle opinion surveys over the years. You go in, you do the same process several times, but on varying aspects of vehicle features, and design aesthetics. I'm not sure why people would rank this so low... in most cases, you're being paid about $50/hr to do the same thing you'd do with your buddy during TV commercials or hanging outside somewhere. Also, for those people complaining about the process, and how they didn't know what to expect... I respectfully submit that they just weren't paying attention to the calls. Everything I saw in other posts (e.g. locking up cell phones, or being metal detected) are essentially outlined in the call. It's an industry version of "top secret" research, so they don't want so-called spying devices which can take pictures or video - since some of the stuff is not yet released. Not for nothing... but, because they tend to bring in people who own a particular car for a particular survey - I have actually seen things we suggested manifest in newer models. I won't share what (because I signed a paper saying I wouldn't), but several items and features were modified. So, at least for me, I'm very happy to have an opportunity to take an active hand in helping to create the vehicle(s) I would like to own, with the features I feel are often sorely missed in a car. If you get a call from these folks, I personally recommend you make the time - play a part in the future, and be paid rather well for the effort. read more

Pretty straightforward research company and experience. I have done three initiatives over the last four years. All were automotive and all were different in focus and evaluation. (Electric cars, new sedans, and recently a particular part of the interior) In each case, for me, real cars were used not just illustration boards. Some reviews seem perturbed by lockers for phones and metal detector body checks. This is sensible as the research and prototypes are top secret. This is explained in prep paperwork, but some don't read the bold print and walk in with their ubiquitous phone anyways. I have found the staff to be professional, the experience mostly interesting (I like cars) and the check worth the time. read more

I answered questions to see if I qualified for any upcoming surveys and later on I went to an in person survey. It took me longer than expected because I wasn't aware of their routine, but in the end I gave my opinion and got $150 in return. I look forward to doing more of these. read more

It started out well... I showed up early for my appointment. I got interrupted while filling out the paper work in order to start the process. I was told I would receive $250 dollars for drive testing and offering opinions on 4 vehicles, after which I would participate in a focus group discussion. They took far too long to complete my drive test and opinion surveys. As a result, I was denied the opportunity to participate in the focus group, and denied the additional $75 I was promised as they only paid me $175. It was there error/negligence, and I was not at fault for this in any way. So, in the end, I drove an hour to get there, spent 5 hours there, and an hour+ to get back home, not to mention the full day I took off work to be there. As a result, I actually suffered a gross loss, and would have been far better served to simply go to my regular job. It was a cheat and a fraud because they denied me by their error. If a company is that unethical, how reliable can their research really be? And the worst part was the attitude I got from them when confronted... they made it out to be my fault and said it was tough shit. As if I had any control over how they conducted the process. Everyone else who got paid $175 only had to be there for 3 hours. They held me up for nearly 5 hours and shorted my pay on their error. Jackass way to conduct business! read more

They asked me to come in to get my opinion on cars. The process was extremely cumbersome and tiring. Most of the questions were redundant. I was standing on my foot for most of the survey which took well over two hours. The process wasn't disclosed to me ahead of time ; otherwise, I would have never participated. If car makers want the opinion of their customers, there are much better, easier and more efficient ways of doing it than how this company is operating it. read more

They have you check in your phone and be metal detected and give you a packet to fill out. Lots of redundant questions about certain cars in a group. There is no actual on hand car research. First of all, they call constantly and I told them to stop calling. Their official number is now blocked on my phone. TODAY when they found their official phone number blocked, they immediately with 10 seconds called again using a spoofed number 608-371-6666, which just happens to be NOMOROBO's report phone number. NOMOROBO is a free call blocking service supported by the FTC and the FCC. To spoof a phone number is a violation of said agencies telephone policies. This shows a lack of business ethics and poor management oversight, unless of course management decided to do that. Am I angry? DAH! 2/19/2016 The company has replied that they did not spoof the number. The first call was blocked and then 15 seconds I got another call from the spoofed number and the spiel sounded like another one I had earlier for a survey about the Ford Focus, which we don't have and have never driven. I am willing to believe them if this never happens again. If it does, I will retract this statement of doubt as to the veracity of their denial. I have a different take on this firm. They have contacted me every year for the past few years and each time I am "deselected" because of my age (69 now). They know my age from the questionnaire but they call anyway and waste my time. Just happened again today. I suppose they think that my age group does not buy new cars, even though I just bought a 2016 Toyota Tacoma. My advice is that if you are over 65, you are wasting your time. read more
