I went with my broken Logitech Streamcam in hopes that he can resolder the connector for usb-c. I honestly am suprised at the lengths he went to to fix my camera. Once we realized the parts I ordered weren't good, he searched for possible part replacements he could order. Not only that, he literally cut his own usb-c cable to see the format and see if it could possibly fix my cable. At that point I've already given up on the camera but he kept trying and I really really appreciated that. If you want a a repair shop who won't give up even w/ the most stubborn problems AND shows great care in fixing things, this is the place. Run from this place. I recently brought in my brand new Galaxy A51 after dropping it, mildly cracking the OLED panel. It still booted, and there were only minor scratches and dings to the rest of the phone. I used the voice assistant to dial the nearby cell phone repair store. The man was eager to help, I paid for the work and he ordered the new part right then. Things looked optimistic, until I dropped it off. Walking into the store, I handed the man my phone and satisfied my confidence by chatting a bit about the ups and downs of working in IT, then I left for grocery shopping. When I was presented with my "repaired" device, several hours later, enclamped and traumatized, I was absolutely shocked. Not only was it outfitted with an obviously cheap knockoff LCD panel with no fingerprint reader, horrible resolution, ratio, brightness, and abysmal touch response, the entire back panel was damaged irreparably, with chewed up edges and scraped paint on the underside. The device was literally coming apart at the seams as I held it. After being informed that some 'superficial' damage was inevitable in these kinds of repairs, I was simply instructed to "keep it clamped for a half hour; it will seal." First off, I didn't think I paid for a cheap knock off. I was expecting a genuine replacement oled panel based on the single price I was given, and nobody communicated to me that he didn't order a proper Samsung part. I received an email on Friday from their ticketing system with a vague description "lcd replacement for a51" and I should have caught it there. Naturally, it was later in the evening, and I understand that jargon like OLED and AMOLED and LCD can get confusing and are often misused, but to my greatest fear, a cheap lcd knockoff is exactly what he ordered and installed. It gets worse. Livid, I instructed it to navigate me home, which it did quite painfully, but successfully. During the drive, the entire back panel quickly separated even further, and I was able to take a wide peak at the skilled handiwork of this petaQ. I took plenty of photos, it felt like chalk, smelled like paint, and looked exactly like he smeared the internals with whiteout. It was on the sub board, it was on the sub ribbon cable, and it had torn part of the shielding off the battery!! I couldn't even see the upper half of the device. The whole internal was dripping with white goop! Naturally, this gooey caulk-like substance is NOT an industry standard adhesive, and likely has chemical properties that are extremely harmful to the delicate circuitry inside the device! I even tried writing this review on the device, but after painstakingly typing one paragraph, correcting every single word, the device slowed to a halt and restarted without warning. This "repair" permanently damaged my device, externally AND internally! This is not OK! When I called the store again, and had my boyfriend explain to the man that this is indeed not the correct panel, we were quickly reassured that "this is the correct part!" It's like he had never seen or researched my device. Within 15 seconds, he reported that he found the actual correct part and ordered it on the spot. I told him I'd bring it back for the proper replacement. In lieu of the new part, the damage was done, and I have a bad feeling if I bring it back to this store I'm not going to see my device boot again. I paid over a third of the price of this brand new A51 for a "technician" to physically destroy it, inside and out, and I'm not sure it'll live by the time the new panel ships. TLDR; Went in for a Galaxy A51 screen replacement, came out with a fake lcd, damaged back panel, and white goo all over the inside of my phone. PS: You put goo, in my phone. Sorry about the monitor, but you put goo in my phone. Doesn't that sound odd? You condemned this phone to death. It cannot be fixed any further, as it is now cemented shut, and the most essential part of any device was replaced with absolute rubbish! Poor service, brought in my MSI gaming laptop for overheating issues because fan wasn't working. They told me my motherboard was the issue so I paid 750$ for a new motherboard + labor. It didn't even fix my issue, I fixed it with a 7$ of compressed air to clean the fans, no more overheating issues. Don't trust this shop, the owner is shady and comes in whenever he wants or will close his shop randomly. He'll also charge for whatever he wants. (Edit) Read a few other reviewers that had the same issue with this business. In response below, to be clear I came in specifically for a laptop overheating issue. I explained to josh that the issue was overheating because one of the fans were not working. So how is it that after a full diagnose, you guys could not figure out that the fans were just clogged from dust after I explained that might be the issue? Instead you suggest I replace my motherboard for 750$. You say the parts did not pass a function test, yes this will happen if they are running over 95 degrees. It is a shame that I have to write this because I had high hopes and trusted Chad at Rescuetronics. I brought my phone in with a cracked screen and paid for him to repair it and when I received my phone back I thought the saturation/contrast was off so I took it back and explained that the colors were different and I just wanted to make sure everything was OK. He dismissed me and made me feel crazy, but I trusted him. He insisted my phone was OK and when I asked if he could just check the connections he again dismissed the problem. So, I went home and a few nights after my phone screen started glitching overnight and entered incorrect passwords while I was asleep, I woke up to a completely disabled phone with no back up (not having a backup is my fault). So now, I have lost everything on my phone. I contacted him and told him what happened and he just said how this has never happened and if I want a refund, he wants his screen back. So OK, I took it back to him and he put my cracked screen back on and I left with a full refund (which is why I give 2 stars and not 1). He did not say sorry or apologize to me in any way, he showed no sympathy to the fact that I lost all of my data and just brushed me off which was super disappointing. Honestly, It is not worth it to take it to these guys. Just take it to Best Buy or Apple, it may be more expensive but I wish I would have just done that. read more

In a nutshell, I'm visiting my parents from New York City - found out that my parents iPhone/iPad screens were shattered after they dropped it a few weeks ago. I wanted to get the screens replaced before going back home. Staff: I met Chad (the owner), super friendly guy, who I called ahead of time before heading over to ask for the price of replacing the screen. Unlike all other places who try to bait you by saying "we'll give you a quote in person" - Chad was really transparent about prices and what services were offered. Walked into the store, was greeted immediately, and screen replacement was on its way within minutes. Location: Great location, right off of I-35 in one of the strip malls next to Smash Burger. Small location but is expected for such business. The inside was very clean and chairs were available in the waiting room to wait while iPhone was being repaired. Close enough to a lot of other shops near by where you can go grab a bite or walk around to kill time. Value: This place, of 5 other places I called and visited, was the cheapest in the Carrollton/Lewisville/Coppell area. Charged me $99 + tax for iPhone 6S Plus screen replacement. Most other places wanted AT LEAST $129 + tax. He also offers via Yelp, a complimentary tempered glass with check-in. Timing: So I have to admit, I hate waiting; maybe it's because I'm from NYC and I'm extremely impatient but then again, who likes to wait? Well, Chad quoted me over the phone that it'd be a 30-45 minute wait, but I was in and out in about 15-20 minutes. Dropped off my phone, went to my car, made a phone call and in no time, phone was ready to go. Screen replaced, tempered glass installed. Overall: Extremely nice owner, wants the best for his customers to earn your business. They also do iPads, computers, etc... essentially any electronic gadgets! I would definitely recommend RescueTronics to anybody who is in need of screen replacements. If I recall correctly, I believe Apple charges $150-175 last time I checked in the city. My experience with Rescue Tronics was the best advertisement for Otter Boxes they could have ever asked for. I accidentally broke the glass on my Samsung Galaxy S5 a week after moving to Lewisville. I shopped around for a repair place before finding Rescue Tronics, who offered me the lowest price and was the closest to home. What a deal, right? I drop my phone off on Saturday morning, and Chad tells me he'd have it done by 7 p.m. No problem, I can go an afternoon without my phone. Fast forward to 7 p.m. I go to his store and he gives me this story about the LAPD (no, I'm not kidding) needing to look through his surveillance videos and he wasn't able to get it done. Said he'd finish it by noon Sunday. OK. Got an email from him Sunday afternoon, says after he got the glass off the LCD broke, and he had to get another LCD from "the warehouse." Despite mention of a discount to make up for not having my phone for three times as long as was quoted, I still ended up paying full price for the repair. If a glass replacement was beyond the scope of his shop's technical acumen, I would have appreciated him telling me that before I began this process, and I'd have just paid the extra money to get it repaired by T-Mobile through the mail. What was supposed to be a brief inconvenience quickly became a several days long ordeal. The moral of this story? Get a case for your phone. Get insurance through your carrier. Really disappointed with the service done on my computer here. I brought it in to have it diagnosed and paid the $45 diagnosis fee. I told Chris that I thought it needed a new motherboard installed (that I was providing) but wasn't positive that was the issue. Chris told me he would check it out and call me the next day. Two days after dropping it off I received a text letting me know that the work was done, how much I owed and that it was ready for pickup. The work was done without calling and asking for approval first! I likely would have approved it regardless but that is HIGHLY unethical to do hundreds of dollars worth of work without even contacting the customer first. (Also some of the below issues may have been avoided with an over the phone discussion about the diagnosis) When I went in to pick it up I asked him if he was able to recover the data that was on the hard drives and his response was "No it was corrupt" (Which I partially expected, so no big deal) Then I asked if BOTH hard drives were corrupt. (I have a 256 SSD drive and a 2TB HDD in the computer) and he said "There was only one drive in there" Right there on the counter I had him open up the computer and I pointed out to him the two hard drives... So as it stands now Windows is installed on my 2TB HDD (which I usually only use for media storage) because he somehow did not see the other hard drive while tearing the computer apart and replacing the motherboard. He then handed me three of the four 8GB RAM sticks that were originally in my computer and said he "took them out so that it would perform better" and that each one was 32GB so I only needed one in the computer and that I should "sell the extras" Anybody with even basic computer knowledge knows that less RAM does not mean better performance and I knew that my computer had originally only had 32GB of RAM, not the 128 GB that he said he had taken out. After I got home I booted it up and went to system properties to verify the installed RAM. and as I suspected it was only registering 8GB. So I put them back in one at a time and discovered that one of them did not allow the computer to boot (when I took out the one faulty one and left in the other three it was fine) I called him back (with the intent of trying to understand his logic more) and he said "Oh yeah, I took them out because they were not working" (A completely different story than he had originally told me) So rather than tell me that one stick was faulty/damaged he instead took them all out and told me that I did not need them and to sell them (clearly knowing that I would have been selling a RAM stick that did not work) Bottom line really sloppy work all around. read more

Maybe this place is great for broken phone screens, but I'm not bringing my laptop here again. I brought in my Lenovo P51 for an error about a fan being out. I picked it up after they did their diagnosis and had them order the replacement fan, which required at least half payment down. I got home and the keyboard doesn't work, and there's a screw missing from the back. I call and explain the issues, and ask if they give refunds. All he says is no refunds (which was pretty much expected), but the guy on the phone couldn't care less that I'm describing a new issue with my laptop, and am clearly stating that my keyboard was working before. I have to open up the laptop myself (thanks, YouTube), and it turns out to be a cable that was halfway loose and causing a connection issue - a very easy fix causing a major issue. After I get it back the second time (yeah I gave them the benefit of the doubt and let them put in the fans they ordered, since I'd already paid), the keyboard is a little off in one spot, and the guy tried to push it back in and said it now looks fine (it's definitely still off). At least the keys work this time and there are no other visible issues. Just pretty lousy customer service, and I really wouldn't trust them with my electronics again. Update two weeks later: They had given me the original fan back, and I was looking at closer, trying to move the blades, when a small plastic piece fell out of the fan area. The fan is spinning just fine now. Did they check for this? Seems to me like they should have tinkered with the current fan a bit more before declaring it broken and ordering a new one. read more

I took a computer for repair and rescuetronics told me that it requires a new motherboard and charged me $265 for it + $37 diagnostics(Ticket#-4927). When i paid I was told that rescuetronics will return me the old motherboard. I had to constantly follow with them and every time they told me that they are waiting for the new motherboard to come from china and finally after 2 months when i picked up the computer they did not give me the old motherboard as promised and the service person told me that the owner disposed it in thrash.I called the owner immediately and the owner said he knew nothing about it.At that moment itself I knew there was something fishy. I came home and verified the serial number of the motherboard and it was same and i could see all the dust on it which means rescuetronics did not even touch the motherboard of my computer. When i presented these details rescuetronics came back and said they repaired the motherboard instead of replacement which sounded a lie to me since the sales person at the store told me that they replaced the MB when i picked up the computer. They charged my credit card in advance and if it was a repair they should have charged for repair and not replacement. I called the owner few times after they agreed that they did not replace the motherboard and never got a response back. So be careful with these guys and try to avoid them so that you don't get cheated. To owners comment below - I disputed the charge because you guys said i needed a motherboard replacement to fix the issue and you guys did not replace it as per the invoice that i paid in advance.You guys won the dispute only because i was late in submitting the documents to the credit card company. I inspected the computer and the only thing that was repaired is the fan and motherboard was not even touched. You guys were just charging me for the services that my computer did not require. If you have a water damaged phone, then taking your phone there is a gamble. My initial visit was told that there will be a standard diagnostic fee which I accepted. Then I was told the phone needed to be shipped for further diagnosis. I asked how much? I was told that I would be provided an estimate. Weeks later I had not heard anything from them; even though I was told I would be contacted once it's done. Finally I called them, they said yes the phone is here and it works, cost $200! I paid it, I did not argue as to why I was not given an estimate. I was given a 60 day warranty. About a week later my phone died and never worked again. Took it to the place, and a month later (after calling many times) I was told they can not fix it. I got the phone back and was told I would get a $75 refund ( which was never received). Came across Rescue Tronics via a groupon offer. They were cheap and stayed open late enough for me to swing by after I got off work during the week, so I went with them. The place is a bit sketchy, kind of in the middle of no where, in what seemed to be a now abandoned mini shopping center. Didn't really bother me though I wasn't there for luxury, just needed my cracked iPhone screen fixed. Got there and was greeted by a kid who was nice enough, clearly very new, and said it would be 15-20 minutes. He went behind the curtain separating the back room and the tiny waiting area they have, chatted with the manager (who also happens to be the owners girlfriend) and fixed my phone. He came back out about 10 minutes later for me to test it and make sure everything was working properly. When I made a phone call, the speaker was muffled and the censor that blacks out the screen when on a phone call wasn't working. No biggie, I was in no rush and he said he'd make the adjustments to fix it. Comes back out 5 minutes later, speaker fixed but censor still not operating correctly, so he takes it back again. About this time the owner arrives at the store, says hey, and heads back behind the curtain. He himself made some adjustments to the phone and sent the new employee out to test it with me again. Still no dice. This time as the employee heads back he confirms with me that the part wasn't having this issue before I brought the phone in, which it wasn't. I then hear the owner direct him to go grab the part from their inventory and replace it. Here I was assuming he was taking responsibility for his employees mistake and replacing the piece they broke. Rather, he was taking it upon himself to make the decision for me that I wanted them to replace the part they broke, without speaking to me about the situation or letting me know the price of the part that was being replaced. So the kid comes back out a final time, phone finally works the way it did before I gave it to them, and he says it will be an extra $16 to replace the censor. At that point, I was just ready to get out of there with my phone in tact so I paid the added expense and left. With the unnecessary $16 based on their mistake on top of the original cost, the price out of pocket was equal to the nicer shops that will drive out to fix it or won't break parts behind the curtain and go ahead and replace them without speaking to you, explaining what happened, maybe apologizing, or tell you the price of the part you never agreed to buy, then bring you back a surprise charge when they return the phone to you. I'm sure he will respond with an apology now and offer a refund or to change the part back out for me, but regardless, it's bad business and I don't recommend you risk something similar happening to you just to save a few bucks. read more
