After seeing their truck around, we decided to call Rescue Rooter when the drain line of our garbage disposal was plugged beyond reach. Zach showed up within 2 hours although the dispatcher had initially said more like 4. Zach gave us a fare estimate pretty fast and was able to fix the problem under 2 hours. We were impressed how such a young kid could be so knowledgeable and work so hard. Although it is never fun to deal with that kind of issue, we will definitely call Rescue Rooter again if needed. My partner and i had a job repairing a broken sewer line about 9 feet deep, so i told the owner we would have to get a camera down the line to find the break so it was 200$ at the rental place or 200$ at rescue rooter, so why not have them do it, right. I should have read the reviews prior to setting my appointment. Please learn from my mistake that this is not a company worth dealing with regardless of if you have a coupon or not. I make an appointment for Friday 5-8 and made sure to leave work in time for Friday rush hour. Well I waited and waited and Chelsea called me on the hour to let me know they did not have a technician ready but would update me as soon as possible. Finally at 8 I said that I only wanted service if someone could come to my place in the next 2 hours feeling that was a fair request as that is 2 hours additional added to their already generous 3 hour window. With no luck with even the extended time frame I asked to speak to the manager. Andrew called me the next day and gave me the most half asked excuse, when i explained the situation he offer little in terms of problem solving. Getting a little frustrated he explained that this isn't hair cutting and that they aren't always on time, EXACTLY why you provide a 3 hour window I thought. He belittled my concerns about being a women and having a strange man come to my home past hours I was comfortable with. When I finally proposed a time that would work for me 7pm the next day Andrew assured me that they would be right on time and offered to provide a discount on the service, as I told him I had no time for a 3 + hour window. 7pm came and went no technician not until some time past 9 the technician came - with no mention of discount, when I brought it up he was unaware and could not provide the discount I requested. I kindly asked the technician to have Andrew call me as there were some things I would like to discuss.. still waiting on that call and thus yelp gets this feedback. read more

After discovering that our basement was flooding caused by a clogged drain outside the basement door at 2 AM my boyfriend called around to find someone to help. It was a very busy night as expected because of our downpour. One company quoted $400 just to come and look not including any labor. We were lucky enough to find Ryan who called us less than an hour after our initial call to Rescue Rooter and discussed the problem at length with my boyfriend so that he was prepared when he arrived around 4am. He worked really hard and was able to unclog the drain and resolve our problem. THANK YOU!!! They came out to snake our drain to the sewer. It was still clogged so they charged us to put a camera down there and they couldn't see anything because it was plugged. They then gave us an estimate for $12,000 to dig up the line where it was plugged because "maybe" the pipe was broken. FloHawks came out with a ROOT CUTTER and snaked the line. Rescue Rooter did not even offer to use a ROOT CUTTER. I feel like they didn't really try to fix the problem because they wanted to upsell us on a VERY EXPENSIVE procedure! Thanks to FloHawks, everything is working great! Watch out for these people as they may try to sell you something you don't really need! read more

After cabling my clogged sewer line, Rescue Rooter refused to jet it. They gave me a song-and-dance about how it wasn't safe to remove a 20-foot clog through an indoor cleanout. Wanted me to spend $3500 to dig up my yard. I called Roto Rooter and that line was jetted, cleared, and camera-inspected 90 minutes later for $600. I'm not saying these Rescue Rooter guys were dis-honest, but they were wrong. The Roto Rooter guy said "Once they dig up your yard, that $3500 becomes $10K." read more

Our sewer line got plugged early morning, Saturday, so we called Rescue Rooter of Seattle. They sent out Robert to rotor root our drain. He was not successful, so he said that we needed to replace a section of our drain and put in a clean out in our yard for $6000. We asked him about using a water jet. He informed us that that was not possible because our basement would flood. We told him that we would think about it. We got a recommendation from another plumber to call Action Jackson. They came out a used a water jet and found the same brake. No flooding. They installed the cleanout as Robert suggested than spent quite a bit of time with water jetting the rest of the sewer line to finish cleaning the line for $3200. $6000 - $3200 = $2800 savings read more

I was surprised to find that plumbers now have the dreaded 4-hour window in which they make service calls, but I also have a new inside to my toilet tank that I didn't have to put together myself. We had a completely clogged double sink and I called Rescue Rooter since they had an $88.00 special posted on their website. Lance came out and used a snake device to clear out the pipes which turned out to be a pretty big job. He had to run it down and back several times which took over and hour. However, he stuck to the $88 deal which seemed very reasonable to us considering the amount of work he did. I've seen other reviews where people say they were sold things they didn't need but Lance was very professional and mentioned some things we need to watch but didn't try to sell us anything additional. I called them to fix a clog in my kitchen sink and Tim M the plumber came over about an hour later and did a fine job fixing the problem for me, He charged me just what they told me he would on the phone and was very nice about it. These guys were fantastic. We had a collapsed, shared line in our neighbor's yard during horrible weather and over a weekend. Big shout out to Cody Shadle for his excellent communication and hard work. While they are not the cheapest for most projects, they don't charge a weekend or holiday premium. Cody stayed until about 11PM on a Sunday evening digging in the pouring down rain and was back first thing in the morning. He had to communicate with both us and our neighbor, while also dealing with some interested neighbors. We would absolutely use them again in a pinch. We found another issue in the street and I'll forewarn that they were at the upper end of the range of bids. read more

Had a drain clog Feb 10, the day of big snow in Seattle. The first of two technicians came out to my house. I told him I would like to try the snaking first before the second guy came with his camera. I had to pick up my wife and was gone for about 10 minutes. When i got back home the first tech is hurrying back to his truck. I said, That didn't take long. He replied i didn't find anything. The second guy shows up with his camera and immediately gets to putting the camera in. Here's the KEY to all of this. When the clean out was opened a lot of water came out. Washed lots of snow away. How could the sewer be snaked by the first guy? He never opened the clean out otherwise he would have washed this snow away. I didn't realize this ploy till after they left. They wanted to show me how much I needed to buy a sewer lining. Their plan all along.The camera going in freed the blockage. Lies and deception. I was charged $347 for nothing. July 7th we closed on our house. Around the last day of July we had sewage in the basement. Yes, we learned the hard way that we shouldn't have skipped the sewer inspection, hindsight is 20/20. We had a quote from roto rooter of about $14k. Chris came out and did his inspection and quoted us just shy of $10k to reline our pipe. We waited a few months because it was devastating to us as new homeowners. We called back at the end of October and Chris was still as helpful as ever. He helped us secure the financing we needed and had a team out here within days. They dug up a large area of our yard and got to work. When they put the hole back together you almost can't even tell that it was torn apart just a week ago. Thank you to Chris Gemmer and the team he sent out to help us with this problem. read more

My review is specifically for Robert Gine and his regional supervisor Chris. I'm the owner of several rental homes in the Kirkland Washington area, and discovered late at night that the main lines of one of my rentals sewers was clogged and needed clearing. I called Rescue Rooter and Roto Rooter and both were essentially priced the same. Roto Rooter said they could have a technician there in an hour. I called Rescue rooter and and they said they might be able to get a technician there in three hours but called back shortly to let me know they were too busy and I could be put first on the list the next day at 8:00. Their operator was knowledgeable, friendly, kind, and real. Roto Rooter called back later and indicated they couldn't perform the service until later the following day. Rather than delay the issue, I scheduled Rescue Rooter for the next morning. Robert Gine was on time, friendly, and he even whistled while he was working which made him seem happy while he was doing a crappy job. He was clean, applied booties to enter the house, and took every means to keep my renters happy and their things safe. Though I knew the situation was difficult and needed outside repair beyond my capabilities or time limitations I felt comfortable and trusted Robert in my absence with my renters possessions. Quickly he figured out where the blockage was and had Chris on site with his camera. Because the line was so impacted and filled with water, it was undetermined but suspected that roots were the cause at a join that failed. Robert gave it his all, a good ole southern boy try, and because the compaction was so severe, the cable failed. The pipe was over 6 feet down would require excavation. Within hours the locators were on doing their job and found the gas line crossed right where the clog was. The excavator showed up, and did his job with perfection. Though there were issues with the City permitting and cost of additional couplers, my price didn't change. The job progressed in a timely fashion and because roots are an issue I had the line the rest of the pipe. The job was expensive. I attempted to use their credit company because of the 12 month no interest/no finance charge that they offered but was rejected. I have more net worth than I care to admit but they rejected me. I hate their credit company. They denied me credit based off too little information. Robert continued throughout the day, left the job site clean and tidy, and I'm sure will finish the job with outstanding results. I've only left my review as 4 stars because the job isn't finished yet and the final results are what will matter to me and my renters. Though I'm confident that things will be exceptionally taken care of, I'm waiting to give my 5 stars for a job thoroughly well done and will report back when finished. I feel Robert's work was honest, clean, and on target. Life costs money, and though this more than I wanted to spend Rescue Rooter was able to cut me some slack and give me a break. read more

First off I would like to say the people have been pleasant and professional and response is quick. RR replaced our septic tank pump in March of 2016. It was about 18 years old and needed it. RR did not pump the tank though I guess they do not perform that service. Fast Forward to December 2018 I noticed downstairs toilet "acting up" which is usually a sign something is going on with septic. I checked the clean out myself and it appeared to filled with solids so something was not functioning correctly. I called RR who had previously worked on system before. The tech cleaned checked clean out as well and performed service. We take top off septic and it was full. He asked basic questions like how many people in house etc. (Basic family of four with occasional extra use like anyone else). Basically tech recommended to pump it out. Since they do not perform that service we had another company pump it out. Once pumped out the second company asked who put in the last pump-(RR did). Come to find out the electrical was not hooked up correctly so it burnt itself out and therefore did not function properly for some time. The second company thought they had done they work and were embarrassed of the installation. We informed them it was not them- it was RR. I called RR not expecting any money refunded since it was past it's 1 year warranty. However, did want them to know that they installed the pump incorrectly which created my current issue which I was charged for the $344 amount for them to come out. They could have cut me some slack and perhaps rebated 50% or something like that on the current charge. I got the new pump in by another company who stated that RR overcharged us originally. The new company was able to provide the service for about 30 per cent less and made sure that all electrical components were installed properly. So, I have used RR on occasion over the years and won't be using them again since it appears they take advantage of your situation and do not install important components properly. I feel that their operations department could have reacted better at least to the current scenario instead just got "oh sorry" read more

After waiting for two weeks to receive a written estimate from a supposed highly rated plumbing company I asked a neighbor for a recommendation. I called Rescue Rooter which he recommended and they came out that day and gave me the written estimate right there and discussed the several jobs that needed doing. They came back and did the job in a very professional way and at the given and fair price. I've recommended and handed out their cards to several neighbors and family. Will call again when needed. Had cause to call RR regarding a faucet they installed which was under warranty. They sent a technician and as I was clearing access for him realized where the interference was coming from. At 8:05AM Thanksgiving morning our guests phoned to say the pipes had burst in the basement of our guest cottage. We turned off the water and I immediately called Rescue Rooter. I thought we would all be out of water, but the dispatcher said he would have someone there and 60 minutes later a plumber arrived! Richard Marsden assessed the situation and it wasn't pretty, but by 11:00am all the repairs were completed and we all had water again! Rescue Rooter provided excellent customer service, excellent workmanship, handled distraut guests with diplomacy and a smile and did not rob us with an exhorbitant bill. Our toilet was plugged and we had troubles unplugging it. We called South West Plumbing, no show and said it would cost $195 to snake the toilet. We called Rescue Rooter and they had quoted to come out minimal charge (if it was just what we thought it was) $95. The dispatcher said that the technicians would be here within two hours. She called not too much later saying they would be here in 45 minutes and he was on time. He was courteous, respectful, and agreed with my father that it just needed to be snaked. After he was done, he cleaned up, walked around and checked all the other faucets, tubs, and the other bathroom too. He said it was all in good working order and gave us the deal of $95 (add tax and it came to $108) they stuck to their agreement and didn't up the price. It was a pleasure for my dad to deal with someone who was honest and thought of the customer first. That's how America was built. read more

Rescue Rooter is an organized scam. I recently called them to clear a clog under the house. The worker claimed his cable machine could not clear it fully and the only fix was an expensive plumbing repair for $2,400 or $3,600. The sink and shower drained just fine - but he warned not to use toilet. I declined and called a plumber who I trusted. He said the cable machine either clears a "soft" clog or doesn't. If it drains, it's clear, and there is no need to repair the existing drain pipe. This company lies to and extorts homeowners in an emergency situation. They turn a simple clog condition into a big and expensive repair job. Do not use this company. read more

I give my 5 star rating to Dave H not necessarily for RR. We called RR on a Monday night for a severely clogged drain in our driveway causing major standing water. RR sent Dave over at 9PM on a cold night. He diagnosed the situation and was determined to solve the problem, he tried several different methods from snaking different drains to scoping the drain with a camera. Although we weren't able to resolve the situation that night, Dave was courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. He took the time to explain what could be the cause of the situation and offered his recommendation for a situation that will require extensive work. He eventually left at 11:30PM. read more

If you want your $ "rescued" from your wallet, Rescue Rooter (ReR) is the firm for you. Techniques used during my interactions with them: Good cop, bad cop. Bait & switch. Dangle the "carrot". Out right lies. The "players". Cody (Technician 1): Good cop Bryan (Technician 2): Too honest "new guy" Andrew (Manager): Bad cop. First, while an internet search will list various phone numbers/cities with different ratings for ReR, they are all dispatched from the same location. I called the Renton number (good ratings) but the technicians dispatched to my house were from the Pacific, WA location. Initial issue: mid day on Saturday, my downstairs toilet was backing up. Cody (good cop) arrived late Saturday evening and gave me an estimate to figure out the problem & I agreed to pay the estimated amount. He then snaked & videoed my sewer line. Sewer main was blocked due to some work that another contractor had done (no surprise to me here). It was late Saturday evening by this time, so the good cop said that since he wanted to get home, they would credit me for the work that they had done so far (if his management (bad cop) agreed to do so) IF I hired them to do the rest of the work (dangle the carrot). I asked for an estimate for them to dig up the line, repair it and backfill and a separate estimate to repair the sewer line only. Since good cop would be off for his weekend, the technician who videoed my line (too honest new guy) provided me with the quote. The verbal quote that night was $3,100 for all the work. I paid good cop for "services rendered" and looked forward to getting things figured out on Monday when my other contractor would be available (and after I got ReR's written quote). The next morning (Sunday), ReR's quote had climbed to $3887. When I asked if that amount included the AAA discount, it was reduced to $3487. The separate quote to reroute the sewer line only was $400 to $600. I called & left a message for my original contractor. They responded on Monday and agreed to do the digging/filling for a VERY reasonable cost (compared to ReR). I asked them to be prepared to dig the hole and have it prepared for ReR by 11:00 AM Tuesday morning. I informed ReR that I had talked to my other contractor and ReR agreed to have the same technician (good cop) at my house by 11:00 AM Tuesday. I called good cops cell phone number after 11 AM Tuesday morning and he indicated that this was his "Monday" and he was completely unaware of any requirements for his time that day. My first contractor (as agreed) showed up early Tuesday morning and began digging the hole. Good cop from ReR showed up at around 1145, looked at the now exposed sewer line and immediately informed me that the original quote for the Sewer Line work was "wrong". The individual (too honest new guy) that quoted me the $400-600 price was new, and should not have quoted me that price. After some discussion good cop got bad cop (manager) on the phone. Bad cop indicated that the lowest they could complete the work for was $1500 (still 3-4 times more than I was originally quoted). He stated that the permit alone would cost $400 plus the cost of his technician waiting for the permit (outright lie, permit cost was $100). I initially agreed to pay the $1500 as I felt bringing in another plumber at this point would be counter productive. Before work could begin, I was told I had to do a quality assurance interview with someone from another ReR office. The QA representative asked me if I was satisfied with the options presented to solve my problem. I said no because of the cost increase. The QA call was terminated and good cop told me that he had to go back to the office to discuss options. He called me about an hour later to inform me that the only way the work could proceed was if I answered the question posed by the QA rep by stating that I was satisfied. Not only was I being asked to pay an excessive amount for the work, I was being told that I had to lie and state that I was satisfied with a significant cost increase. I told bad cop I would sleep on it and get back to them. The next morning, I called several other contractors and ended up with another contractor completing the work for $650; very close to "too honest new guys" estimate. The other contractor got the permit for $100 and completed the very simple repair in under an hour. If you want to just throw your $ away, use Rescue Rooter. read more

Rich was amazing. We had a macerating toilet that has been giving us issues. We spent quite a bit of money back in January to get it repaired. There was a hiccup in regards to the time they arrived on the first time they came out, but Rich and his manager were understanding and quick to make the situation right. They offered to give us a new toilet and we only had to pay for the install due to their guarantee and the manufacturer selling a faulty one. We had to wait a week for it to come, but Rich communicated throughout the week with me about it, which is I really appreciated. On the day of the install, Rich called me and informed me what time he will be there and how long it will take. It was seamless and didn't affect any clients at the place where I work. Overall, Rich goes above and beyond. They did everything to make sure we were taken care of and receive exceptional service. read more

Rescue Rooter does not stand behind its work. A plumber came out to unplug the drain for a urinal. Although the urinal flushed after the work was done by the next morning it was plugged up again. That cost $700. Rescue Rooter said that they would jet flush the drain for another $450. No thanks. I ended up paying another company to do the work right the first time. read more

We had some one come out to clear a clog in the kitchen wall pipe out to the sewer and although the technician seemed to be a fine person he just opened a book for a rate. We used another company for the bathroom 6 months ago for the same problem and it was $175. This company charged $365! Shame on me for not calling myself and asking for the price.
