Although Service Person Dennis Poznyur did an incredible job replacing my water heater in one day, it took 15 hours and cost almost double what would usually be expected. I also was promised a $2k rebate from PSE with documentation provided by Rescue Rooter. This was false. I spend so much time both on the phone with Rescue Rooter (who never returned calls, as they said they would) and PSE. Between the two - six calls, no response. PSE confirmed there was no rebate for a gas water heater replacement. Rescue Rooter simply never responded at all. In addition, it was just odd to have someone at my house for so long, as a single female homeowner. I called friends and neighbors after Dennis had been at my house for over 10 hours. Other neighbors stayed until he left at near 11 PM. The installation was great, but predominantly I'm upset about being lied to about the so-called 'rebate.' I hired this company to fix a slow leak in my bathtub spout, expecting professionalism and expertise. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. After all, that's what they're there for. It took three appointments to even get someone to start. The first two were canceled, leaving me to call for updates each time. Their tech was there in 25 minutes, 45 minutes to clear the clog and it only cost me $600+ That's right, 45 minutes for only $600 to clear a drain! Understandable that they are very busy mid winder after a freeze two weeks ago but it was still very unprofessional to give no notice until hours after not coming. On the 3rd day I even called to make sure they would be coming since we had to wait at the house for them to come the last two days and was told that they would definitely be coming that day before 2pm. I called ARS/Rescue Rooter on Friday 3/18/22 to figure out why there was a standing water underneath my sink. The plumber told me that it was due to the kitchen drain backing up and that he recommended running an electric snake to unclog the pipes. He did that and then said it would need to be hydrojetted since there was some black sludge. I said if he felt that hydrojetting would fix the leak, we should do it. He confirmed that would fix it. He told me the leak was fixed and charged me $1,043.40 for the HydroJet service. The next morning, there was still a serious leak under my sink so the problem was clearly diagnosed incorrectly and I paid for a service that wasn't needed. They sent the same plumber out the next day and he looked under the sink again and says, "Oh shoot I see where the leak is now. It is just a slow drip on your kitchen faucet hose!". I asked if there would be a refund for the services provided the day before since they were completely unnecessary and he said they couldn't do that. He suggested that I get a new faucet (my specific faucet is $250+) and that he would come out and install it for $530 in labor costs. Absolutely outrageous that Rescue Rooter would even think of charging more money after they had already misdiagnosed it once and charged me nearly $1,100 for a Hydrojet service that didn't fix the leak. I had a competitor come out the next day and he found the leak in 30 seconds and fixed it for next to nothing. A new faucet hose is only $50 and that was also something the Rescuer Rooter plumber didn't even suggest. I have been dealing with their Customer Relations Manager at their Memphis corporate office (901-259-7570) who has been dealing with their regional office in Pacific, WA. I have said multiple times that I need a 100% refund and that nothing else will be accepted. She continues to call and email constantly with no solutions. She has had 2 weeks to get this issue resolved and it looks as though they will not be crediting me my $1,043.40 after all. Would never use Rescue Rooter for anything ever again. read more

Ron was out in a couple hours, scoped my pipes, found a kink in my line, Cleared the blockage and was gone all within one hour. HE said he couldn't imagine why it was so hard for them to troubleshoot. The bill was under $300 including the scope. On my previous review I left out the fact that they flooded our downstairs bathroom 3 times and each time left a mess. The invoice for the first visit specifically said that the septic tank needed to be pumped. Chris the manager told me the high costs were all my fault. I got the tank pumped on my own. Bottom line - If you want to pay 3-4 times more for terrible service call Rescue rooter. For fast, reasonable and competent service call American Rooter. read more

My plumbing problem started June 14, 2020. They just finished yesterday, August 24, 2020. The cost was close to $55,000.00. My house was from 1928, it had old exterior plumbing. They restored water use right away. There was a utility pole in the way of repairs. They got city light to remove it. That's impressive. And a cause of much delay. Apparently the street connection was broken, so a hole was needed on the street and subsequent repair They got all the permits and had the right machines. Got it done. The plumbing looks good. But I lived with (3) 5x5x7 holes for months. Piles of dirt in my front yard. Please no drilling after 7:30 pm. Many days were skipped because of scheduling. I had a drainage block caused by a broken pipe underneath the concrete slab in my basement. I called ARS Rescue rooter and that was my biggest mistake. In their 1st visit, Andrew from ARS was able to unclog the drain pipe for $500 but submitted me a totally wrong diagnosis of the problem. He gave me a $6k estimate for fixing a root intrusion in the drain pipe in my front yard that was totally unrelated to the issue. The drain blockage returned immediately after 3 weeks. Then Chad from ARS did a good job of diagnosing the problem correctly. He submitted me an estimate of 6.5K to dig a 3x3 ft hole in the concrete slab in my basement to investigate the broken pipe and replace it. Ronnie and Robert from ARS did a good job and fixed the plumbing issue in a day. However, they left the 3x3 ft hole in my basement for 3 days. Later another guy, *Jeremiah* from ARS came to fill the concrete hole. He did a shady job of preparing the sub-grade without even compacting it. Knowing very well there is a bit of void under the concrete slab and more crushed stone should be needed. He was ready to pour concrete but when I stepped on the sub-grade, it just disintegrated. He then complained to his office that the customer caused an issue and charged me an extra $600 bucks for it. I just caught him leaving a sink hole under the concrete. Due to time crunch and not wanting a sink hole in the basement I agreed to pay for it. Robert from ARS bought extra bags of rocks to prepare the subgrade and then poured concrete on top. I am still doubtful if they poured the concrete correctly. Stay away from ARS Rescue rooter if you see *Jeremiah* come to work! He is dishonest and a liar. read more

I had an appointment for an estimate set for between 12 and 2. I called after 2 to see what the ETA would be and was told the plumber was running late and message would be sent to have the plumber call to give me an updated ETA. I called back an hour later to find out what the ETA was since I still had not gotten a call. Both times I called the person I spoke with was able to tell me my name, address, and time of my appointment from just having my number off caller ID. I was put through to "dispatch" to see if I could get an updated ETA. The person that I was connected with told me that there was a mistake and my appointment was never scheduled (keep in mind two prior people had already confirmed my appointment and were trying to connect me to the assigned plumber for an updated ETA). I pointed out that the prior people had already confirmed the appointment and I was told they must have read the schedule wrong. How you read my name, address, and appointment time wrong if I'm not actually on the schedule is beyond me. My garbage disposal leaked all over under my sink the day after Thanksgiving. I had just had surgery so I couldn't get under there to replace it. I ordered a new disposal from Amazon and it arrived the next day. I called around and couldn't get anyone to give me a quote for install only. Rescue Rooter said they were available 24/7 with no weekend surcharges and free quote. So I scheduled for them to come on Sunday. The technician arrived and took a look. He wrote a quote for $315.00 (after a $50.00 coupon) just to install (no electrical wiring needed). At this point I really needed my sink and just had him do it. Took less than 1 hour. I think the charge was extremely excessive but I was stuck! Don't call them... they just charge way too much...I think there is a weekend surcharge... it's just added into the quote! read more

Being over charged for a defective gas hot water tank that they purchased and installed, but now will not make good on. We bought a 2005 Manufactured Home in pierce county, Wa. in Nov 2020. This made all of the appliances 15 yrs old and ready to be replaced. We decided to start with replacing the gas hot water tank. I called a few companies in the area who provided this service and selected ARS Rescue Rooter, in Pacific, Wa. because they were the first company who could come out to the house and give us a cost. When they gave me the replacement cost of $3,800 dollars I was very shocked at this price and I still am, because as I found out later that this AO Smith 40 gal gas hot water tank is nothing special and is considered rather middle of the road for quality. Also, when the service tech gave me this cost, he did not offer a choice of good, better or best gas hot water tanks, to make a selection, he made the choice of AO Smith. It took the company about a week to find a gas hot water tank that would work in our home. They installed the new gas hot water tank and got ready to test it. Well, right away you knew something was wrong, because you could smell gas in the room, it was quickly shut off and the doors and windows opened to air out the house. I was told that our new gas hot water tank had a bad master gas valve that needed to be replaced. This took about a week to replace. Now, we fast forward about 3 months and we wake up one morning to no hot water. We call ARS Rescue Rooter and they send out a service tech, who tells us that the gas hot water thermostat was set to low and he turned it up. Another 3 months go by and we have no hot water again. We call ARS they send out a tech who tells us that the pilot light has gone out, so he relights it. We have this same problem a good 5 0r 6 times and the service tech tells me that they will probably have to replace the hot water tank. ARS Rescue Rooter likes to advertise that if you are not happy with a product from them, they will either replace it or give you a full refund on your purchase. The service tech came out to the house and gave me a new cost to replace this gas hot water tank for $4,000. I askedd him what had happened to the warranty and their advertisement about the customer being happy with a product. He then told me that I had to contact AO Smith to see about getting a replacement from their warranty, I told him this was not happening because they had supplied the hot water tank. I asked him to leave our house. I called the manager of this ARS Rescue Rooter (Eddie) and told him about my exchange with the service tech and he told me that he would make this situation right. He told me he would call me back on Monday, no call, i called and left a message for him, no reply. It seems that the magic go to number for a gas hot water tank is between $3,800 &$4,000 dollars. Ok, so Cody who helped me was totally fine. Hear that, Rescue Rooter, the problem is YOU, not him. The amount of paperwork this company requires turned what should have been a 15-minute stop into a 1 1/2- hour ordeal. All of this while the only toilet in my house was clogged and un-usable, by the way. I called because it was after-hours and my toilet was clogged beyond what plunging could remedy (not my doing, mind you, it was my small kid). Anyway, I just needed it to be snaked with the special toilet snake that "rooters" have. But the company required Cody to fill out pages upon pages of paperwork showing that he had offered me every ridiculous option that exists from using a camera to find the problem (I definitely definitely already knew what the problem was) to taking my toilet out just to look underneath it for fun. One thing that pissed me off too was that he told me that I should consider replacing my toilets because the life span of a toilet is 5-10 years which is patently ridiculous. Last I checked, porcelain does not "go bad." I mean, the inside parts might need help or replacement, but one does not need to REPLACE a TOILET because it is clogged. There are old houses with 150-year-old toilets in them. So I told him that there was no way in hell I was replacing my 20-year-old toilets which had never had any problems until my 2.5-year-old tried to flush an entire package of wipes down one of them. Even so, Cody had to spent a long time writing up a bid to replace my toilet and the one in my basement apartment (which had zero problems) with various options even though I told him there was no way I was going to do that. The company still required him to write it all out freehand so I could sign a thing saying I didn't want $2000 worth of completely unnecessary new toilets. So, after over an hour of paperwork and signing various things saying that I declined hundreds and hundreds of dollars worth of wholly ridiculous options, Cody easily un-clogged my toilet with his special toilet snake which was all I ever wanted him to do in the first place. It cost about $140, which is normal (or maybe slightly cheap) for this kind of thing in my experience. Even though Cody was great. I am DEFINITELY going to call someone else if this ever happens again because I just do not have time for this much bullshit. (Ok, honestly, I'm still annoyed at Cody for trying to convince me that I needed new toilets even if he was required to say that. That's just so clearly ridiculous. I am a Renter in a single family home, so I would submit any maintenance request to my Property Mangement company. On Friday, while I was taking a bath upstairs, my boyfriend notices water leaking from the kitchen ceiling (where I was upstairs, in the bathroom), onto the kitchen counter. After seeing this, I immediately called my prop mgmt. They, in turn, called for Rescue Rooter, who came right on time. Tyler was the Technician that came over. Tyler introduces himself, at a safe distance at my front door. He was polite and asked if he could come in and assess the damage. He had a face mask already on, and he put on shoe coverings over his work boots before coming in. FANTASTIC! He immediately looked at the damage and knew right away what the cause would be. But also provides his disclaimer that he won't know for sure until he opens up the sheet rock. I was confident in his "guess-timate". Unfortunately, the owner of the house (which Tyler spoke to directly, so that I wouldn't have to convey with this), at that time still needed to "think about how to get this fix." So I wasn't able to have the pipes fixed until their approval. While the owner was doing this, Tyler advises to me that he had spoken to the owners but the ball was in their court to move forward. He left for the day and I was in communication with the prop manager. A few hours later, we got the owners approval. Rescue Rooter very quickly communicate with my property managers and we set an appointment for repairs for Tuesday. Today is Tuesday, and Tyler was at my door. Pretty awesome to have the same Technician to finish the job. Tyler arrived on time again and knew what to do. He asked if I had any other questions after he had explained the job description, and got to work on the repairs. Tyler was so efficient, professional, put plastic covered my counters and floors to avoid any debris damages. The repairs took maybe an hour but I barely noticed any noise that he was making. He quickly cleaned up EVERYTHING that he brought in, and again, asked if I had any questions. I quickly gave him my praises and asked for his manager's contact info. After receiving, I called his manager and gave them my rave about Tyler, which they have also forwarded to the owners of the company. I was happy to give them my recommendation, which I very rarely rave about a company or person. Tyler, you were awesome! Thank you so much for making this process so easy! These guys Angelo and his co worker did a great job for us. Most pleased. Knowledgeable and polite. Thought I had a fairly simple job a clogged sewer line. It ended up being more complicated (of course). 2 technicians were here for 3 hours. They snaked the line and scoped it for over 100'. Cleared a clog and found a faulty fitting. In the end problem was fixed and they stayed with original quote a little over $300. I did check around this is very reasonable. Plumbers are not cheap. A lot of companies wanted to charge just to come out. Rescue Rooter came out gave a quote upfront i agreed and they started work immediately. First time I called i think a got a national call center. I would ask if they would furnish one of the local numbers. read more

The good news is, the guy who came out was really, really nice. He tried really hard to unclog our toilet. The bad news is, he must not have had the right tools for the job. We told him we thought our kitten had tossed an apple core down the toilet. He tried for over two hours to get it out. When that didn't work, he said he could either take the toilet itself out and try from the other end for another $295 but that really he thought that the problem was our toilet because it was 17 years old. But we knew that the problem was the apple core, not the toilet. So we had a bigger plumbing company come out the next morning. They were cheaper to begin with, and they had the apple core out and the toilet working in no time at all. Unfortunately, I would recommend not using this company at all. Integrity. So important these days. Before hiring a plumber, I did my due diligence and read through all reviews I could find. Many of the reviews I read on "Rescue Rooter" plumbing were from states other than mine and were negative. My wife and I rolled the dice and went with Rescue Rooter for a plumbing issue we had at our rental property. We were met by Dontae, the plumbing tech, at the time promised. Dontae immediately got to work assessing the problem; we thought it was slow draining drains creating a leak in the low spot of the house, Dontae showed us the drains were fine, and it was a corrupted wax ring on a toilet. I told him I could fix this myself, and to settle up with my wife for any service call charge owed for coming out so quick (within 2 hrs. of the call placed). Dontae smiled and said words I haven't heard ever by a subcontractor in this decade, " ... no charge today, ma'am ..." with smiling eyes (he had a mask on) ... WHAT?!! A company who had every right to charge a service call, yet they didn't. Wow... All I can say is, in the state of WA (where I reside), if you need a plumber, or plumbing service, you could do a lot worse by going with another company. That, to me, is integrity. I will give this company all of my business (and refer them to all my friends) because of their business practices. When he found out that my main issue was actually a blockage in the main drain line downstairs, he took care of it (even though that's a "crappy" part of the job). He also had a guy come and look at the lines with a camera to make sure there weren't anymore issues. He did a full inspection free of charge. He scoured and cleared all my lines that had issues. During the visit, a line that wasn't properly attached from the previous owner came undone. It started to flood the basement. He quickly called a company that could handle making sure further damage didn't occur. I was then able to work him Rescue Rooter and the water damage mitigation company to fix the issues. Since Rescue Rooter was there when it happened, they didn't charge us. The water damage mitigation company was able to make sure there was no issues. They were also able to diagnose some old issues that needed repair further down the road. And to top it off, I had other questions they were able to answer about the house. Where is my water shutoff? Can I convert to a tankless water heater someday? What type of pipes do I have? Great overall service! read more

I thought these guys were great so I disagree with quite a few of the reviews. Things were a lot worse then I thought and I believe the dude knew how bad it was as soon as he looked but he tried less expensive things first. In situations like mine, when you know nothing about any of it, it's easy for a business to take advantage of the customer. These guys explained everything AND helped me with my case in small claims court. They assured me that it was 100% my neighbor's fault and they were right. I won my lawsuit for the full amount. Could not be happier. I also had to deal with Rescue Rooter's administration office. I had just gone through a divorce and the money from the settlement was not available yet. Marianne, in the main office, was super nice and sympathetic and she helped me work it out. Mine was a bad situation all the way around but it could have been a lot worse except for these guys. The only reason I didn't add that last star is because I tried several times to get hold of the plumber that did the work on my sewer. He told me specifically to call him (he even gave me his personal cell number) prior to my court date and he would give me a statement. I talked to him on the phone and he said he would send it via email. He never did and he didn't respond to texts, etc. Turns out I didn't need it but I would have super bummed if I did need it in order to be rewarded the full amount. I had the post-work notesfrom the job but they were in triplicate and hard to read. I transcribed them for the judge so it worked but because I didn't have a clearly written statement from the plumber I was a little panicked going in to court. read more

Terrible. Scheduled an appointment with me about a week out, I specifically told them they would be unclogging a drain in my water feature. I described it quite clearly. Then, 12 hours before they were supposed to show up, I get a call that goes "looks like you want us to unclog a drain outside in a water feature?" Yes "we can't do that" They refused to come because they "wouldn't have anyone familiar with that type of drain" When I pointed out that I'd booked the service for exactly that a week before the response was "oh, well that's the national call center, they don't know what they're doing. My sewer line backed up and I had these guys come out to take a look on a Saturday. They scoped my line and got the major blockage out and recommended a scouring of the line for an additional $1,000 (though it could break the clay pipes in process they advised, which they are not responsible for). They charged me almost $400 for this and then gave me quotes to line the sewer line (which according to them was in bad shape) that were in the tens of thousands of dollars. I managed to track down the company that had been doing maintenance for my house in the past, and they said they would never recommend scouring the line because it could break the clay pipes and that they could do a manual cleaning for $350 which I went ahead and did. These guys (Ben and Andrew) were nice, but they didn't ultimately solve the problem that another company solved for less $$. So I pretty much wasted $$ and got upsold, though I did learn from watching them scope the line and they did get the major blockage out. Update: I called Customer Satisfaction and spoke with Eddie (per reply to my comment). He said he didn't feel they did anything wrong. Since this is the lowest review possible, I want to preface my opinion by stating I am uncertain about Rescue Rooter's location. Their website shows Rescue Rooter (RR) is a national company, with a local phone number, 206-285-1116, different than what is registered on Yelp.com. Not that anyone should absolutely require the number, anyway. Our condominium building has had a number of sewer pipe issues since I moved in about eight years ago, mostly due to tree root blockage. In mid-December 2008 our condo had sewage backup in an outside drain near our building. Ew. I tried a few places based on Yelp reviews but had little luck. Pfft. My neighbor scored on her first try, booking a visit with RR for later that day. The RR technician made it out to our place via the snow-covered roads, put a camera and snake down our pipe, and showed us the tree root ball blocking the snake's progress. He could not get his snake through the root mess. He told us the company who had done work for us before most certainly did not do a good job. Had it been RR, there would have been a 50-year warranty on the work. He mentioned that warranty at least twice. The technician rang RR HQ to schedule an estimate that would presumably include costs for cracking through our concrete sidewalk (which had just been replaced three months earlier), digging a hole and repairing/replacing the pipe. In the meantime, we found an old invoice and guess who had done the previous job for us? Yep, RESCUE ROOTER. Pointing this out to the technician, he began trying to take back his words about the 50-year warranty, stating he didn't know if the warranty was good 'at that time' in history. Uh-huh. Fast forward two days, a RR supervisor comes to our site, tries to snake the drain and is also unsuccessful. He said he would speak with his supervisor about the warranty and get back to us. Our condo board secretary did some more research and found that RR had not only done the previous job for us but also another major repair several years before that. All told, we paid RR approximately $24K in eight-nine years. After pointing that piece of information out to RR, I figured we would get that warranty on the work. Not so fast, Miss. Not only did we not get the warranty, but a RR supervisor said it would cost us $7K to come out and give us a mere assessment of the problem. After the assessment, we would further discuss the warranty. Um...I'm thinking RR is an appropriate acronym for this business. The story does have a happy ending. We rang Steve of Reel Rooter, who didn't need a camera and was able to unblock our drain...FOR $392!! I do expect an epilogue. We will contact RR again asking for a reduction in our last bill, since what was diagnosed (pipe blockage and broken pipe) was partially wrong, because a camera was unnecessarily used, and because someone else fixed our problem with much less technology and drama. BTW--our calling RR repeatedly over the course of eight years is the symptom of condo association and board membership turnover, not one of stupidity. We're all pretty smart cookies. read more
