I was…read moreinitially greeted by two respectful and helpful ladies, who directed me toward the area where the kittens were located. Since I am 19 and was informed that I needed to be 21+ to adopt, I planned to have my mother on FaceTime while I looked at the kittens and considered my options. Unfortunately, the experience changed once we were introduced to another staff member. Her attitude toward both me and my sister came across as extremely passive-aggressive and unwelcoming. We clearly explained that we were interested in adopting a single kitten, but she repeatedly insisted that the kittens could not be adopted individually because they had formed bonds with other cats. While I understand that some kittens may benefit from being adopted in pairs, I had done research beforehand and felt that the situation was presented to us as an absolute rule rather than being explained on a case-by-case basis. We were then directed toward a room with older cats that were described as being newer to the center. There was also confusion regarding one of the cats' names, which further contributed to the experience feeling unprofessional and disorganized. When we asked to see the kittens we had originally come to meet, we felt as though there was very little effort made to accommodate that request. Instead, the staff member seemed frustrated about having to go "back and forth" and ultimately escorted us out of the building. I completely understand that adoption centers have policies and that staff members have to make decisions based on the animals' well-being. However, there is a significant difference between enforcing a policy and making potential adopters feel unwelcome or dismissed. We came in with good intentions and a genuine interest in providing a kitten with a loving home, so I was disappointed by the way the situation was handled. The first two ladies we interacted with were kind and respectful, but unfortunately, the interaction with the other staff member overshadowed the rest of the experience. I hope management takes this feedback into consideration, because prospective adopters should feel informed, respected, and welcomed when visiting an adoption center.

12/4/2024 Hey Dana,…read more I'm making sure this comment is at the top. After reviewing ARF's 1 star reviews on google a lot of people have been discriminated by Dana Poore. I was discriminated for my roommate situation and others by their age or ethnicity. When I tried to adopt my kittens from Dana, I also had to use my "white female friend" and she easily passed the phone call interview she had with Dana. My friend also mentioned that she was her PE student at Carver Middle School in Delray. I can't believe we let this racist teach our kids back in the day. It's a small world, Dana. 7/28/2022. Hi Dana, I bought a house and my three cats that are living with me are very happy. The roommates didn't find the cats annoying. 11/10/2022. My three cats are still going strong. Just got them the Litter Robot 4 because i am a financially responsible cat owner. My cats go to a better bathroom than Dana. 10/02/2023 It has been a while, Dana. I want to let you know a stray cat has chosen me to be its owner. A few days later i found out the cat is pregnant! I am expecting the babies soon. I will be raising the kittens to about 14-16 weeks of age before I help them find their forever home. I have some potential adopters interested already and i will do a better job at screening these people than you did to me. Dana, if you need help with screening prospective adopters, let me know.

I was told this Thursday at 10:30 and immediately told my boss I had to take the next day off. I left Jacksonville, FL at 3:30 am to drive to the animal shelter 5 hours away and be there as soon as they opened at 9. Upon arriving I was told that our application had actually been denied, and they were slowing the adoption process for these dogs down. I never once received an email, phone call, text, carrier pigeon or even smoke signals saying that things had changed and we wouldn't be able to adopt a dog today. When asked why this information had not been relayed to me I was told they had received 20 applications yesterday and had to reassess all the applications. If you are looking to adopt a dog from this place I wouldn't hold your breath. They will throw you and your application to the wind at a moments notice and not tell you until you get there. They care more about their publicity and social media presence then they do about actually getting these animals into good homes.

When I kept calling to check on the dog. You could tell that she was part of the decision to take our dog away from us the dog waffles we were going to a dog, not only what they did was so unethical, but they involved a six-year-old who had just lost her dog to cancer at 13 and fell in love with waffles. I have emails that I put on other reviews to show them saying that they picked us to adopt the dog and then months later saying no after my daughter met the dog ( I told them I don't want her to meet her if she wasn't ours ) . Funny how Amanda, who is a foster with several dogs gets to keep the dog and not us who would be a one dog home with money and I'm home all day long as a stay at home mom does that sound like a rescue that cares about a dog no it sounds like they were greedy and spiteful all because I kept calling to see how the dog was doing because I had been waiting months with my six-year-old waiting. I don't care about these happy reviews you see because when you are our family and people like me, I'm not the only one that can get screwed by this agency you follow a path when you find out everything is not what it may seem. She gets millions and it's an outdated building looking like 1999 dogs in tiny cages not getting the proper care they need . I highly believe this woman is taking purebred/ backyard breeder, puppies, and doing some kind of deal to bring them into her rescue to sell for more money. They rarely take dogs from animal control and if they do, it is like the type of dogs that people want like Frenchies pugs, Pomeranians, etc.. anything with a story to ring up donations . She's not dumb with that scam . if you think that somebody is gonna allow a six-year-old around a dog, promise, her it and that a family that's financially able to take care of a dog cannot have a dog just because a dog has some minor ailments that is not a rescue that room could've put a spot for another dog that should be with Amanda in rescue. I hope this evil place is shut down . Even involving vendors like the guy who sells dog treats to get money and do free PR for her . She also seeks out young influencers to feel bad for her and bring money in . Worst part of this the dog is not in the best loving home her foster told me she eats the walls infront of my husband wtf why - too many dogs never home she works . Secondly the worst Involving a child is beyond sick ! She cried for months and still does she says this place is evil . They are and each of them will have karma don't support this evil place Ps check out waffle on the news wpb in Amanda the foster lap if it was so sick what is it on the news saying for adoption check olit YouTube they using the dog for $ they raised thousands off this dog . She hasn't had thousands in care yet at the time sick people

However, I visited this "rescue" today with my children, and I was absolutely appalled at what we saw! Wish I could give zero stars. Where do I begin.... For one- as soon as we stepped foot inside, we had to literally hold our breaths from the stench. The place is filthy-there is urine and fecal matter everywhere. And it only got worse as we walked around.. It's so overcrowded with way too many cats sharing small spaces. There is an obvious lack of necessary supplies like water and food -the cats are so skinny and clearly malnourished. The dogs don't appear healthy either and there are at least two sharing each cage, surrounded by urine and feces also. We felt so sorry for these poor animals and our hearts were breaking! :( One woman working there came to greet us. The other few staff/volunteers were either sitting down looking at their phones or in the back not helping. I wish these animals could all find loving homes, of course, but until then, it is the job of the shelter to properly care for them. The "United For Animals Rescue" is understaffed, under-equipped, and clearly do NOT genuinely care about the health and well-being of these needy animals! It's so very sad. I should have taken pictures, but the odor was so unbearable that we just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. All the positive reviews are from years ago. We have visited there in the past, and I remember it used to be great. I don't know why or how it got so bad there, but something needs to be done IMMEDIATELY PLEASE to prevent these and any more helpless animals from suffering any longer!!! **HOW DO I FILE A REPORT FOR SOMETHING LIKE THIS?!?**
