This company is completely unethical. The charge you for service you don't receive. We haven't gotten our trash picked up in 3 weeks. When I called to ask about a discount on our next bill I was told they don't do that and it would never happen. So we are at their mercy. We need some competition in our area. When trash or recycle isn't picked up because of weather, we are assured that another truck will be sent. More often than not, you have to wait until the next scheduled pick up in two weeks. They are more than happy to cash your checks l, but when it's time to go the extra mile, it just won't happen. I personally saw a driver damage a gate where some trash cans were held with his truck, he picked up the pieces that he knocked off and left. It was not addressed by Republic until I inquired weeks later. That lack of integrity has shown itself time and time again. There are always excuses when it comes to why your trash didn't get picked up. I believe you pay for a service and you should get the service and not a bunch of runaround when you call customer service. read more

DO NOT use for roll-offs - I have been ignored and commitments ignored. My construction/roll off rep had the initials JR and has frequently not followed up on credits and corrections. The customer service rep had the initials DE. The billing was not as committed. NOW I'm getting collection calls. UPDATE - Josh went out of his way and Republic Services made things right. After Republic picked up our neighborhood contract in Renton, WA there's been a lot more trash in the neighborhood after trash day pickup, like containers are spilled and trash is all over. I am in the place where we had a snow storm and Replubic didn't come out for days although other delivery business are open. Trying to sign onto 'my resources' to get a simple updated schedule it tells me my email is already registered, but when trying to get a 'remember my pwd' email it says my email is NOT in the system. Now I'm on the hold going on 18 minutes with 'all agents busy' and I just want to know the schedule. read more

Started service on July 30, it is now August 25 - and still no trash/recycle/yard waste bins. Every time I have called (5 times now), I've been given nothing but "All I can do is email my management" and "It should be there by the end of next week". I've also been told I can come pick it up myself, which I have no way of doing. But I've also been told by the same person that the reason why it is taking so long is that they are out of the trash/yard waste bins in those sizes. Which makes zero sense. I can put food/yard waste in paper bags/cardboard boxes. But for 2 week intervals between pick ups mean that it is a breeding ground for undesirable critters. Lived in a few different places, never had so much trouble with something as simple as garbage pickup. Frustrating company to deal with. Garbage gets skipped, cans get the hinged lids ripped off and getting them fixed is impossible. Last time a can was damaged by their driver they picked it up but never brought back a replacement until several weeks later and after phone calls. Overbilled for once a week service Billed quarterly. Was told the increase was due to their purchasing new equipment and landfill fee increase. My neighbors are paying approx $50 less quarterly. No explanation for increase in fees. Changed to a local service which is $50 less for once a week service. Customer service? After calling to terminate services, then they attempted to negotiate a better price. Too little to late. A customer for 17 years. So much for loyalty. Today I Learned that Republic Services does not accept sod in their yard waste containers! I always thought they did so I pulled out my current 2019 home owners edition and checked! Sure enough, it says grass clippings and that means no sod. So I rented a pickup truck today from Uhaul, loaded all my sod and took it to the yard waste experts to recycle in Covington. So I deleted my previous complaint I lodged against Republic Services earlier today. When I am wrong about something I will admit it and make things right. I hope you learned like I did that grass clippings are ok for the yard waste container and sod is not ok. read more

Very expensive service for what you get. The actual drivers are as nice as can be, but the management is quite rude. I was late on a bill after 10+ years of paying on time and they wrote such a rude letter, I would choose another company if there were one...tempted to just take my own waste and recycling to the disposal center... So I got a letter in the mail that I was going to be charged for the containers that were not picked up. They picked up the trash can but left the recycle and compost bins. I called my ex landlord who has also been upset that they were not picked up still. I called republic again to schedule pick up . Mind you this is more than a month since I have closed my account and not lived at this address. They were quick with the letter telling me they were going to charge me for the bins though . Terrible terrible service. My ex landlord plans to be at the property on the 12th to physically flag down the truck if they don't take the bins. Rarely put a heavy can out, but today happened to be heavier than normal and found a nasty little note stating that if can is heavier than usual that it will not be picked up. Excuse me? I'm a 5'2" 60 year old woman who drags the damn can out to the curb WEEKLY and lift it up onto the gravel so as not to wear out the bottom. Want easy pick up via the truck fork, then provide lift friendly can at no cost seeing as we already pay for disposal. Most weeks we have little to no trash, so a heavy can be handled once in a while. read more

Republic needs a lot of help to do the basics of their service. The first time I reached out to set up service at my new home they: -Initially claimed they didn't service my address -Didn't verify I was the home owner, which I learned was required later on.. -Didn't make any recommendations or provide more info than the pricing of different bundles. Granted, I should have asked what most residences use (first time homeowner here :)), but in any event, the answer is not 20 gallon as it turns out. -Told me the WRONG trash pick up day, which, in a moving situation, is a literal sh - - storm given all the moving supplies and whatnot we then had to wait two more weeks to offload. The second time I reached out to request a different size the customer service rep was much more nice and helpful -- she actually sent the calendar of pickup for my area, and called me back after updating in the system the homeowner (they still had record of the previous owner). The last time I spoke to them today it was to check back in as it been about 4 weeks and still no new trash bin. They had a record that the old one had been replaced and the new one delivered, which is not the case. Fingers crossed this is the last time I have to reach out to customer service, but I don't hold out much hope given their online automatic payment setup was down yesterday.. read more

New customer and they blew off our first recycling pick up due to minor snow/ice on the roads. Funny, I still worked that day... as did UPS, FedEx, USPS drivers, etc as they're prepared with chains, etc for inclement weather. Now they're saying we have to wait 2 additional weeks to have our recycle picked up. 2 separate phone calls *(average wait time - 15 minutes each) only to have them tell us there's nothing they can do. Further, now we have to take our rain-soaked recycle/cardboard to the transfer station ourselves and pay an additional $35 to dump it. Good thing we have a suitable vehicle to allow for this! Your drivers are courteous but that is where the good service ends. I have been waiting since mid-July for larger yard waste and recycling bins. I was explicitly advised to set out 'extra' yard waste and recycling for pick up while I wait for my larger bins. I am now being charged for the extra, without my consent or knowledge, and all because we are STILL waiting for our carts. I can understand being behind. However two months on is ridiculous and unprofessional. Worst still is the fact that I have contacted Allied on at least 5 occasions to have this remedied but to no avail. Most recent was a message left for Manager Lisa Rall on Tuesday, September 18th at 11am. I received no call back from either Lisa or another service team member. I have truly tried to be as patient as possible but it appears that Allied is devoid of professionalism and customer service. Call me upon receipt of this message with a solution. I'm forced to give one star, it seems nothing has changed. I ordered service and no cans were delivered . It's been two weeks.

I had almost the exact experience as Lisa S. Allied Waste is changing its service, and so customers have to re-select their garbage, recycling, and yard/food waste service. AW mailed out multiple mail-in forms, and even offered the option of making your selections on their website. I made my selections online, but the website gives no confirmation of your order. I then filled out the mail-in form, just to be safe. That was in January. Cut to last weekend, where I get an automated call that I should have received a confirmation letter (I had not), and that my new cans would arrive Monday, and old cans removed Tuesday. A few days later, another message that there's been a delay, and now drop-off/pick-up will be Thursday/Saturday. Thursday comes and goes, and no new cans. Now Friday I actually do get a confirmation letter (post-marked three days after the first automated message), but the new can selections are all wrong. I moved to Kent just last year, and it was a hassle setting up service. The cans took almost a month to arrive, and customer service was very rude when I called in wondering why the cans were taking much longer than the 7-10 days they predicted. They also sent me a 90-gallon recycling can, and I actually had to fight them to get them to swap it out for the 32-gallon recycling can I had ordered in the first place. Getting the right recycling can took another 2-3 weeks. Needless to say I was really hoping I wouldn't have to call customer service again anytime soon, but I had no choice. The person I spoke to was the most incompetent rep I have ever dealt with. Actually, I don't think it's incompetence so much as it is complete indifference to doing a decent job. The person I spoke to didn't even attempt to help me. First she said I'd have to call back once I received the new cans because they can't change my service until then. ...What? The letter even says to call in if the sizes are wrong, why should I have to call back? She asked me to tell her what sizes were listed in my confirmation letter, and then tried to confirm *those* as my new choices! I kept saying "Wait, I haven't even told you what the right sizes are" only for her to insist "Yes you did, you said the sizes yourself, I wrote it down." Those were the wrong sizes that *she* asked for! I'll note also that they've actually removed the new can sizing/pricing info from their website. Why? I tried to look up the new options so that I could easily tell the rep what my choices were supposed to be, but they're gone. The rep said they took them down because the deadline passed to change the service. What about those of us have had our service choices messed up by their incompetence? What about new customers?? So I kind of needed a reminder of the new can options, as my choices were made months ago. Of course, she said she couldn't tell me, that she didn't have that info in front of her, etc. We went back and forth on that for awhile, and finally she admitted she did know the sizing options, she just thought I was asking about my heretofore unknown options. Honestly, the entire call was a mess, but every time I've called in I've gotten this kind of indifferent and misinformed attitude. This review is already far too long, so I won't bore you with the rest of the convo. Ultimately she said she'd "try" to get them to bring the right sized cans. I won't hold my breath. On a humorous note, as I was on hold with AW customer service, I got yet another automated message saying my new cans would be dropped off the following day. read more

I think the change to "better service" was not handled very well at all. I received the wrong size recycle container and they did not take my old yard waste container. I called customer service and was informed that they would take the yard waste container the day it was emptied. Again they failed to do as indicated. I do agree that they are not well set up to handle customer complaints. Normal pickup and delivery seems to be very good though. read more

I received an automated call on March 7 from Allied Waste telling me that I should have received confirmation of my new can selection in the mail and that new cans would be delivered to me on March 8. No confirmation, no cans delivered yesterday. The automated message also told me that I was supposed to put out my old cans today, March 9, which would be taken away by Allied Waste. Not having any new cans, I did not leave my old cans out. I call customer service today, tell the representative that I don't understand what they're doing and when will I get new cans. She tells me on March 22. I then ask her why I received the automated phone call telling me something very different and when are they going to address this problem, and the first thing she says to me is "why are you yelling at me." No apology, no explanation. My voice was stern and direct but I never raised it. She was much more interested in hurling insults than addressing the problem. I have called their customer service dept. another time and encountered equally poor communication skills. When I called to get a smaller recycling can I did receive courteous, competent, and prompt service. But I wasn't calling with a problem. I'm not convinced that they know how to deal with dissatisfied customers. So far, this transfer to "better service," is going poorly. When I signed up for my new cans as soon as I received the information in the mail, I used their web form. No indication on the screen that the information had been submitted so I sent an email via their contact us form asking if they received it. Response back was that my information was not received via their web form and yes, their form will not indicate that the information was received or not, or if there was an error. Then why didn't they fix it before they made it available to the public? Or not provide it as an option until it's fixed. read more

I write nothing but bad reviews because I never think about the people I deal with that I never have problems with. This is one thing that has always worked well for me. I realize there are clearly some reviews that talk about their competence, and we have also had issues with a garbage can no being picked up. But the thing is, they sent a truck the next day to empty it. I know they don't do our neighborhood on Tuesday, and we would have waited until next Monday, but they offered. As far as money, there have times where the bill has been paid a little behind, and these guys have been more than cool about it. Second week in a row I have been charged for an extra bag. When I call I'm on terminal hold till I hang up out of frustration.Funny thing is I have never had an extra bag and had to call them this week to come completely empty my bin.
