This is the worst trash hauler ever. Our office building switched to Casella 3-1/2 years ago and the republic dumpster is still there. Worst trash service I've ever used. Constantly failed to pick up trash. Literally their ONE job. I cancelled service over SIX WEEKS AGO and still they haven't picked up their own barrels. Clearly they can't be bothered to even pick up their own property. Every single week I call and tell them to get their junk off my property and every single week in given a "promise" that it'll be done by next week and how it's not their fault because they use a third party to collect the bins. Republic - Guess what? It's still your fault, you're the responsible party and if your vendor isn't doing their job then YOU need to do it. Where do I begin. The continuous price increases are rediculous. In the last few years our bill went from about $100/month to almost $150/month. Which in itself wouldn't be horrible if they would pick it up from time to time. But they would skip months repeatedly. I would call and they would say something was in the way. BULL!!! Sometimes there was no excuse, they simply didn't come until I called. Now bring us to present. I called on March 22 to cancel my services it is now May 10 and they still haven't picked up the dumpster. They continue to send me bills which I refuse to pay as I canceled my services 2 months ago!!And now they are saying my bills are overdue! I have called about 8 times since my initial call. Horrible service. Back in the day they had professional drivers and dispatched proper. Today I wouldn't rely on them to change the dish water They have created a health hazard and animal control issues at my address the route supervisor will not call back,all you get is promises that are broken. Multiple missed pick ups. Can totally understand this happening in winter...and they usually let us know the day before so we didn't lug anything out plus they would come the next day. However to be picked up 1x in 3 weeks in May (and not even on our pick up day) is ridiculous....as is letting us know at 5pm on our scheduled pick up day. I'm switching companies today. read more

They do not deserve a star! We just cancelled services because of many missed pick ups, and having to call them several times. Then today I was in shock watching one of the guys from republic pic through my trash throw a couple things in the truck and dump out a bag that had cat litter into the bin and left the rest trash in the bin!! I've been a customers for over four years and for the most part have been relatively satisfied with the service especially with the driver she's been excellent.. Over the last month however the service has been absolutely horrible to say the least.. My trash hasn't been picked up in over three weeks and the best answer they can muster up is unforeseen circumstances.. Get you act together Republic Services your not the only act in town.. I'll be looking for a new trash contractor tomorrow and will be looking at customer reviews and comments closely before choosing another company thank goodness for YELP.. We started with them in January 2012. 10% increase on 10/10/2013, 4.55% increase on 4/9/2014, 5.8% increase on 1/9/2015, 9.59% increase on 4/9/2016, 4.17% increase on 1/9/2017, 8% increase on 4/9/2017, and 20.1% increase planned for 10/10/2017. After finally deciding to switch to a new trash company (since they lied for about 3 weeks promising to place us under "priority") they made it a whole ordeal to even cancel the service. This is hands down the worst company I have ever come in contact with. Their employees are rude and disrespectful, that goes for their drives and especially the "relationship desk". I called for two months to try and cancel my account where I was given the run around. When my account was finally canceled in July, I then had to call for four more months and my dumpster was finally removed at the end of October. The gentleman at relationship desk laughed at me when I called for the fifth time extremely upset that this had not been resolved. The drivers took the wheels off our dumpster so it could not be moved without our consent. They also called the owner of our company an idiot and bad mouthed him to his face unknowing of who he was. They sent three price increases through to us last year amounting to over $100 without justification. Do not ever use this company. read more

UNBELIEVABLE - they raise their prices, they quote you to release their services - you have to pay them to take their bins....and then they charge you on top of the quoted price another $30 for fuel - are you kidding me? 4 Calls to customer service to have the bins removed and invoice corrected and the response was "we will send you to a collection agency" - WOW I am glad I am done with them! Well since they removed the possibility for reviews on Facebook (gee, wonder why), I guess I have no choice but to join the bandwagon on Yelp - terrible, terrible company. If they're going bankrupt, then admit it, give your customers the best possible communication and move on. After six months of constantly missing pick-ups (south central Mass), I canceled my service effective the end of June 2018. I was told my bin would be picked up 7 days later (by July 6) and my refund check of $105 would be sent within two weeks. It's August 21; no refund check in sight and the bin STILL sits at the top our driveway. At first, when I began calling, I was told they can't use their normal trucks for bin pick up and they pushed me out two different dates. Both fails. Then, by the third call and missed pick up, they told me they could no longer use their Republic trucks to use for this service and had to outsource the job and had no date to offer me for when the bin will be removed from my property. After two months my refund check request has "supposedly" reached the controller and "should" be sent within 7-14 days. I'll believe it when I see it. They told me I could bring the bin myself and drop it off at a facility in a neighboring town. Uh, no thanks. Not putting the smelly trash can in my car. Your job, not mine. I also tried to "escalate" out of frustration and asked to speak with a supervisor and was told the request was being handled through corporate and "There is no phone number for them." No one phones in, no one phones out, huh? No wonder a company is failing when they're still using Morse code for communication. read more

If you are looking for a trash removal company this is definitely not it. They are supposed to pick up on Mondays but usually Tuesday and rarely but it does happen, not at all. The following week after I received no trash pick up I put 2 weeks worth of trash out and days later received a bill for $114 for 7 extra bags outside the container ! After months of arguing I was told if I don't cancel my service they would waive the bill. That never happened and I was forced to pay and cancel service. They will quote you a nice price to get you in the door but it won't last long and you will get terrible service all around.. read more

Finally able to cancel with you! After all the missed pickups and run arounds with your company I realized that your company is is really that BAD. When I discontinued service it only took you over a month and 4 phone calls to get you to pickup your containers. Then to add insult to injury, you've charged me to pick the containers up! Terrible service. Constantly missing pickups. Expected 1 day delay due to holiday last week. Usually picked up on Friday. Trash out on Saturday, still sitting there. Been calling all day, can't get through. When you pay over $160 a quarter, which is double what it cost when you started, you expect better service. They, at times, leave messages but half the message doesn't get recorded and it's usually the first half. So, all you get is sorry for the inconvenience. Time to find a different company!! read more

Still waiting for my refund. I called a few times, last on 3/28. They said they put in a refund request for me for $132.84. Called today when I got a "bill" for -$82. Called to ask why I a) never got my refund and b) why the money they owed me decreased. I was told that no one ever put a refund in for me and that they forgot to remove the barrel container removal fee. If I wanted to get my full refund I had to wait for the new refund to process then call AGAIN to request a refund. Republic, you got quite the crazy, skeevy, business plan. read more

Wish I could give these clowns zero stars. They called me and sent me a letter to tell me my service date was changing to Wednesdays. On the effective date of the change, we put our barrels out Wednesday as instructed, and they did not pick up the trash. When I called back they said my trash day is Monday and I should have put them out then. They then rescheduled my pickup 3 times, and failed to pick up my trash each time. I finally got Waste Management to come out and get my trash and switched my account there, only to find out that Republic charges almost $100 to come pick up the empty trash cans. So after failing to pick up your trash for weeks on end, they will penalize you for closing your account. We had several years of no problems, and all of a sudden they have no clue what they're doing. Garbage company, indeed. read more

Very disappointed in this company. We spent hours trying to get them to stop leaving the trash bins in the on-street parking areas. Next they started missing pick up days. We had 6 weeks of recycling waiting. They gave us the runaround: scheduling and cancelling pick up so we were moving the bins daily in and out of the driveway. We finally cancelled in December, returned the full bins in person to avoid them charging us to pick them up and we're still getting bills and monthly statements almost three months later. Like many others below I am facing difficulties with consistent trash pick up as are all residents of Sutton. For the second time in a month Republic Services decided to "skip" a week of pick up after several notices of moving to the next day. Its not just an inconvenience is an environmental problem. Leaving trash out for days at a time animals tear at the bags and spread trash all over the area. Trash drifts into the streets and green area creating a mess. read more

Wish I could give them a lower rating than one star. I've been a customer for about two years and up until January 2019 they were excellent. Showed up weekly and emptied my trash containers faithfully. Then, mid January, they notified me my pickups would change from Wednesday mornings to Monday mornings. Since that time they have failed to make pickup three times, picked up once and on three more Mondays emptied one container and left the second unemptied. My bill is always paid in full and on time. This week was the straw that broke the camels back, though. I paid my bill in full on March 11, 2019. They missed pickup completely on that day. This week (March 18) they emptied one container and left the second (which was right beside the container they emptied) untouched. While checking my bank account later in the day, I found they had, somehow, managed to withdraw a second full payment from my account. I will be calling my bank in the morning to stop any future withdrawals by Republic and then will find another company. Would suggest any other customers do likewise. Any new customers should RUN LIKE THE WIND!!!! DO BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!! Republic Cannot be trusted! read more

Another 1 star review. We bought our home 1 year ago and have had nothing but problems. First of all we have an extra barrel that was left here by the previous owner that they never picked up at our request. That's fine. Then there was the "resource issue" over the simmer. Another company ended up picking up on our street to pick up the slack. Fine. They consistently skip weeks. I'll come home at the end of a pickup day and the barrels will still be full. Then they switched our pickup day from Friday to Tuesday which is much more inconvenient, but fine. But since the switch, they haven't taken our recycling. As usual, we put both barrels out, but now they're only emptying the trash, and they're leaving the recycling in the barrel. We've had a full recycling bin for 3 weeks now and have boxes piling up inside the house. I'll be cancelling today and by the sounds of it, I'll have 3 extra barrels for a while. Of the pickup service was a service provided free of charge by the town I wouldn't have as much to complain about, but we are paying for a service we're not receiving. This wouldn't be tolerated if it were any other kind of business, so why is it tolerated here? read more

What a terrible company. They did not pick up our trash for three weeks after saying they were going to. They did not initiate any contact saying they couldn't pick up, we had to call them multiple times and waste multiple hours. They didn't pick up because of "staffing shortages," probably because they treat their contractors like they treat their customers. I could not possibly recommend this company less. My husband and I have called repeatedly over the last five weeks. We have been told everything from "the driver is running late and we can't pay him overtime so he's not coming" to "the workers are on strike...haven't you been watching the news??" It is literally a joke at this point. Although not a funny one. My neighbors had to all be informed of what is going on as we had to explain why we have 5 weeks of rotting trash on our curb. There are new people moving in down the street. I will be sure to warn them not to use your company, as they will not have their trash taken, and will deal with very rude and inefficient customer service on the phone. Constantly miss pickups. Cannot get anyone on customer service line. Tried to cancel my service- was told I had to wait for a "consultant" to cancel and then put me on hold until I had to hang up because it had been over 30 min on hold. This business is a scam. They never seem to forget to send the bill, but they DO NOT provide the service. We have a community facebook page and numerous others have posted about missed pick-ups. By far the best company. I'm so glad I went with them. There were no hidden fees and Sandy E. in the office Sandy is a person of her word. When you factor in the cost of yellow bags, the money you no longer have to spend on City bags the price was just right. After about 10 months of service, I no longer needed it. They do ask for a year of service and for that will give you a great price. No worries because you can cancel with 30 day notice if you are moving. A perfect size dumpster 2 yards. We started with a bi-monthly service and was able to clear out basement and attic a little bit at a time. After a few months or when ever you want you can switch to once a month dump and save $20. You can request and extra dump if needed as well for small reasonable fee. They even provide the lock for the dumpster. Great customer service, what ever came up they took care of. I highly recommend Republic Services of Auburn for any dumpster need. I live in Worcester, MA read more

The local version of this company (located in Auburn, MA) totally sucks. I've now had to call three weeks in a row to complain about missed pick-ups, and even then it wasn't addressed correctly. They've suddenly gone from picking up the recycling from every week to every other week, without notification. I've had multiple missed pick-ups. This is a national company, so when you call to complain, you are never speaking with the people who are actually screwing up. When I spoke to the national rep, he was WELL aware of the problems in this area, and he noted that there have been multiple complaints and cancellations in the Auburn area due to the incredibly bad service. And the final straw? When I tried to cancel, they wouldn't cancel it because it's under my wife's name. I will NEVER use this service again, and I will make sure to let anyone I know to avoid them at ALL COSTS!! read more

I have not had my trash picked up since May 4th despite 21 phone calls and 3 emails as of this review. I have talked to no less than 26 people including supervisors all of whom have promised next day pick up,escalation of service,apologies for route delays,holidays,tsunami 's etc. I did however get advice on what chemicals to use on the 4 weeks of trash that have accumulated on my front lawn to keep the animals from shredding the overflow trash bags.I canceled my service today and they have scheduled a container pick up for June 8 .... hmm maybe they'll take the trash with them!
