Al's of Sutton has gone above and beyond what you could imagine from your local sanitation business. Do you often consider the kindness of those brave enough to "take out the trash?" Here's a story for you, then: Al's went out of the way for me as a customer's client and merit being a part of the community they service. If you have trash, you might have considered old furniture for the dumpster. Throwing them out is such a hassle for everybody involved, which is why Al's provides a fee-based pickup service for larger trash that can't be easily disposed in a bag. But by coincidence, I was in need of specifically antique furniture and was lucky to have Al's for my apartment's container service. They missed my recycling bin the day prior, and so I called them up pick it up. With mirth, they let me know they'd be by later that day. And as fate would have it, I was relaxing in the summer shade on my porch when they arrived. And that's when I saw it: a mirror. So maybe you don't buy anything used or antique. But me? I needed a fairly large mirror for many reasons, and most experts on furniture know that mirrors are best bought secondhand. I had a concern that I couldn't find a mirror without spending hundreds of dollars at bargain furniture stores as part of vanities. The same goes for affordable mirrors at department stores that only are in long rectangles. But Al's Container had picked up a vanity somewhere that had a mirror with my name on it. Do you think they'd be willing to take minutes out of their day to heave this vanity out of the back of their truck for me? If you knew Al's, you wouldn't need to guess. The answer was yes. The employee spotted the vanity and its mirror, and was kind and generous enough to team up with his coworker to get it out for me. I didn't want to hassle them further, even as we all knew I only wanted the mirror, and I gladly took the vanity back to my house. It was heavy, and the duo needed to drop the dumpster for a moment to get it out. But they did it within minutes and made me incredibly happy even though I've never paid them a cent. You can't get that kind of generosity to the community unless a business sees themselves as part of that community. I contacted them thru Yelp around 10AM, I choose the same day, and picked a time, they responded within 10 minutes, and arrived with two trucks at my house at 12:30! We just had a dumpster delivered from Al's, I just called yesterday and as promised, it was here today, bright and early. The driver who delivered it was kind, courteous, and very professional. He actually took the time to talk to me to find out where to put it, and since I would be satisfied with it's placement anywhere, he asked me questions about where we were emptying and put it in the most advantageous spot to make it easier for us! I have not experienced this level of customer service with other companies-last year another company placed it so close to the house we could not open the door and had to call them to come back-not so with Al's. If I could put 0 stars I would. I moved in September. I ordered Al's as my trash provider (paid a year in advance). For weeks I didn't get a barrel, I was bringing my garbage in my trunk to my old home. In November my neighbors moved. Al's came and took MY barrel (I have it on video) the barrel was clearly marked with my street #. I was left once again with no trash barrel for another week +. Al's said that my BRAND NEW barrel was broken and they took it without telling me for "customer service" - the barrel was fine. They were lying because they took my barrel. I politely called them out on this and asked them to return my barrel that I JUST labeled- zero response. Today, I get an email that I'm going to get charged additional for NINE trash bags, because I've frequently left additional bags near my trash can. I live in a condo association. We all put out barrels in the same area. Then I look at my security footage and hear the trash guys complaining about me ! Talk about award winning customer service! I attempted to rectify the situation with Marnie, kindly ask what my credit is on my account so that I may go elsewhere - twice with zero response. read more

The most unprofessional people I have ever met! Especially Al him self! Had the for 10 months. When first signed up was told they are all out of bins and to use our own well for 10 months we never got a bin and because we used our own trash bins they never picked up either or was never on time, drive by and all. When I brought this up to them they made it my fault that we had our own bins. "You should tell us your plans" - Al. Al then continued to yell at my over the phone and treat a woman like a piece of trash horrible. My folks have used them for years getting a dumpster for yearly clean outs and has to call to remind them to pick up the dumpster or they will charge you for the extra days. Why should we remind to pick up? It's your job not ours! I put up with it thinking small town small business but After the way he talked to me over the phone after I recommended him to thousands of people never again! I emailed Al's on a Friday and received response during the weekend. By sending a few pictures of what was to be removed, Al's was able to give an estimate of the cost.
