There's street parking and some private parking lots nearby. Staff is super friendly and helpful and they have a good selection of reptiles as well as some invertebrates (tarantulas and jumping spiders). I got to see a large tegu there and based on the enclosure and pictures, it seems that the owner has a rhino iguana! Neat! Lots of bearded dragons of varying ages and morphs are available. They have leopard geckos, tortoises, and ball pythons, of course. Also in various ages and morphs. There was also a blue tongue skink that I was eyeing and considering...very fairly priced too! They also have some reptiles you don't commonly see either such as Tokay geckos, various chameleons, tree frogs and dart frogs, Giant Day geckos, and some beautiful melanistic jeweled lacerta lizards! Based on pictures on Yelp they've had uromastyx and fire belly skinks too. I believe I got a chance to speak to the owner and he's super friendly and knows his stuff. They've had crocodile skinks too! One of the few places nearby that sells silk worms as feeders ($1.50 each, great treat feeder) and have fair prices for their other feeders as well ($1 - 12-15 crickets depending on size, etc.). I got some silk worms, super worms, and crickets, but they also have mice/pinkie feeders, meal worms, dubias, wax worms, etc. I gotta say that their super worms are very SUPER. Huge and juicy, definitely more sizeable than the ones I get online. I can see that there's oats and corn in their food/substrate too so you know they're nicely gut loaded. They take Zelle here too and they do TikTok lives for their social media. My new go to spot for some treats for my beardie son, Sambal and I'm keeping an eye on their social media if some new cool herps come in!

Genuinely the best reptile spot you can find. He has everything from standard ball pythons to…read moreBarons Racers. He has also such a great selection of rare and sought after lizards. Some of the most beautiful tree monitors you've ever seen in your life. Brandon is the shop owner and truly loves reptiles and the hobby as a whole. Every time I have a question about one of the reptiles I bought from him I can call the shop and he'll help. I don't have high enough praise for this place. If you're looking for something simple or one of a kind, this is the place.

I visited here before, years ago, but this was before I kept lizards myself, and now coming back, I was delightfully surprised to see that they have upgraded immensely and modernized. Everything is super clean and sleek looking! Honestly very refreshing since, no offense, many other reptile stores are a bit more aged and cluttered. The set up of the enclosures are a delight to look at! Alright, I don't want to be a hater to the other reptile shops, but AT MOST, the fanciest thing you're going to see is MAYBE a uromastyx, but I was SO EXCITED to see the reptiles that they had here. Like, yes they have bearded dragons and geckos too, but it's not PILES of them and they have much fancier morphs. That black red monster beardie that they have is gorgeous. However, I got to see full grown, inquisitive ackie monitors, an Asian water monitor, Leachies that aren't over $1k, various tree monitors, a Baron's Racer, lovely fire skinks, Kimberly rock monitors, a Gidgee skink (NFS), etc. I have seen some of these ONLY at zoos, reptile shows, or the East Bay Vivarium in Berkeley (the oldest reptile store in the nation). So for the Basking Spot to have these species is a huge testament to the shop's dedication to the craft and hobby. I got my questions answered and I can see that the community loves shopping here. Proper husbandry and breeding practices (as you can see from the fire skinks they have, not the easiest to breed) and responsible ownership, we love to see it! ALSO, it is almost impossible for me to find wax worms, let alone silk worms in person as feeders for my lizards. Sometimes my local pet store has the wax worms and it's a hit and miss if I go to IE and can find silk worms. I GOT BOTH HERE! And the worker was nice enough to carefully pick them out so they weren't pupated yet, thank you! The shop is a bit farther for me, but I will come back 100%!!
