The amount of money this dog costs and the amount of issues it has physically and behaviorally is absurd. Permanent ligament damage due to deformed bones. Can't even take this dog on a walk without him collapsing, then can't walk for a day or two after. He been to two trainers, one of which is a hound dog trainer, and both apologized to me due to the fact that he couldn't grasp anything and was mentally "different" than the others and had physical limitations even as a puppy that aren't normal. He has three testicles and the most respected vet in town said "I have been doing this for 30 years and this is the most amazing perplexing dog I've ever seen, I'm so sorry". Even other Basset Hound owners in a club I am apart of have said I have been sold an overbred dog. Not sure if that's the case however I've been skeptical since seeing him and a two vets opinions. Not to mention seeing other bassets which showed me how the Basset I have is not normal or healthy. Again, the breeder was very kind and I'm sure others who have gotten his dogs have got very good and healthy Bassets, but I have not. He does not even look like those put in these reviews. This has been a very rough experience, this being my third puppy, very disappointed.

I had a home visit on August 8th 2025 but hadn't heard back from PugHearts. I reached out to a…read morePugHearts adoption coordinator on August 15th and September 5th and she informed me that she would ask someone to reach out to me. Additionally, I reached out to another PugHearts volunteer (that completed my home visit on September 21st) and she said she'd ask someone to reach out to me but I have yet to hear back. I emailed the PugHearts adoption manager on October 23rd but have yet to hear back. It's very unnerving to have a stranger come to my residence, takes pictures of my home and yard, just to get 'ghosted' by the organization? I understand being denied but I have yet to hear from anyone and it's been three months! I made it to the home visit stage and followed all instructions from the organization to receive some sort of response but nothing.

Honest Experience…read more Unfortunately, our experience with Petland was extremely frustrating, especially considering how much we trusted them when we purchased Blossom. We purchased Blossom with a health guarantee, and shortly after bringing her home, we discovered that she was deaf. Our veterinarian also expressed concerns that she was hearing impaired. Instead of working with us to resolve the issue, Petland fought us on it for nearly a month and repeatedly told us that we needed to pay approximately $2,000 for additional testing to determine how much hearing she had, if any, even though our veterinarian was already telling us she was hearing impaired. After a long back-and-forth, Petland eventually offered us a puppy credit for the full amount we originally paid for Blossom. While we initially thought this was a fair resolution, there is another major issue: the credit doesn't actually allow us to get another puppy, even if we choose the same breed. Now that we have the credit, we are being told that there aren't puppies available at the price point we originally paid for Blossom. The puppies currently available are roughly twice what we paid. So although we technically have a credit for the full purchase price, we would still have to come up with thousands of dollars more just to use that credit toward another puppy even one of the same breed. We never wanted this situation to happen. We love Blossom and simply expected the health guarantee we purchased with her to provide meaningful protection if a serious health issue was discovered. What has been most disappointing is feeling like we have had to fight every step of the way. First, we had to fight for Petland to acknowledge the hearing issue, and now we're left with a credit that doesn't realistically allow us to get another puppy. The way a company handles a problem after the sale is just as important as how they treat you when they're making the sale. Unfortunately, based on our experience with Blossom, we cannot recommend Petland.

Thought we were purchasing an AKC certified puppy, however turns out she is inbred and ineligible…read morefor AKC certification. They're selling inbred puppy mill dogs. They also messed up our registration information and now we have to jump through hoops through customer service to fix their errors. Check the paperwork before you sign anything. The pet insurance was also falsely advertised and they signed us up for some things we didn't agree to. Upon further investigation, the breeder the dog came from was reported by the 2022 HSUS Horrible Hundreds list for terrible breeders and breeding practices. They had over 125 dogs in horrible conditions without healthcare. Petland does not care about where they source their dogs from, and is profiting off of and encouraging terrible breeders and breeding practices!!!!! There needs to be a serious investigation into this.
