THE SALESMAN ARRIVED TWO HOURS LATE, that was a bad sign. I just bought this place and found that the galvanized plumbing was sprinkled with holes in the basement, so I called RePipe, the property has two 3 bdrm units with one bath and one kitchen in each. The estimate to completely change over from galvanize to copper was $25,000.00. Not wanting to take a loan I asked what was the cost to just do the basement and was quoted 10k to 12k. I told the salesman that I could afford the 10k and asked when could he start, to which he answered February and this was the first week of December (Damn)! Not giving up on them I asked for a written estimate and was told that it would be in my email, week later no estimate, still waiting. I was just looking for estimates to figure out how much we'd need to save to go from galvanized to copper and turn our horrible trickle of a shower into a nice strong flow. Repipe Specialists called quickly and showed up a half hour early (despite flying in from Texas that morning) to give an estimate that was surprisingly within our price range to get the work done right now. So we pulled the trigger. The local team was flexible with our schedule, got everything done right on time in the window that was promised, and we never had any nights or mornings without water. Day 1 - lay of the land and open up the walls (working nicely around our wallpaper to make minimal impact). Day 2 - the big repipe. Day 3 - patching and done. The job is clean and professional, the patches are expertly done, and our water pressure is fantastic. What an improvement. This was a great experience and I'd recommend them to anyone. read more

Unfortunately, we had a bad experience with this company. Wanted an estimate, so we did a walk-through of my home to see what the project would entail. Unfortunately, the salesman became incredibly more aggressive, and even manipulative, during the pitch. So even though the final quote (he came down in price 2x during the conversation) was fair, we ultimately decided not to use this business. read more

Okay. My husband hired this company to repipe our daughter's 1100 sf duplex. DO NOT BELIEVE THE 1-2 DAY SALES PITCH. This "small job" started on May 30 and was not completed until June 20 due to no fault of the customer who is paying a pretty penny for it. Here's the timeline: May 30 -- two guys show up, cut 17 access holes. May 31 -- SUBCONTRACTORS show up, one of their vans is vandalized, everyone immediately leaves (NO WORK). (One of the subs shared this was the 2nd or 3rd time their truck had been hit within a few weeks' time, weird huh?) June 3 -- workers return (same subcontractors), get piping done, tell daughter she can run water but DON'T USE IT FOR COOKING, DRINKING, BRUSHING TEETH?!? Salesman says city inspection cannot be scheduled until JUNE 13! (Remember, there are 17 wall openings that are still wide open.) Job passes inspection, but now drywallers are "booked" until JUNE 20!!! So much for a COMPLETE REPIPE IN 1-2 DAYS. Once the dust settled (there was A LOT OF IT), husband gets notice from finance company that Repipe Specialists is ADDING $400+ to the bill?! WE WERE NEVER ADVISED OF ANY UPCHARGE FOR ANYTHING. There was never a change order, just a bunch of MISSTEPS, POOR COMMUNICATION and it took A HECK OF A LOT LONGER THAN PROMISED TO COMPLETE JOB. If you don't mind your house being ripped apart for close to a month and a bunch of subcontractors that you don't know -- Repipe Specialists Chicago might be for you. Just don't buy the hype on timing and ask them if there's going to be a surprise ADD ON to the final bill just for fun. I believe they double book and, since they subcontract, the salespeople aren't in control of the schedule. Still haven't figured out how they randomly increase the price of something called a "contract" without informing the customer. Not cool. read more

We used Repipe Specialists when a pipe burst over the winter and we realized many of the pipes in our 1913 home were almost rusted out and could burst at any time. Our contact, Dave, was really great; he came out quickly to do an evaluation, gave us a quick, all inclusive quote and scheduled the job in a timely manner. The crews that replaced the pipes and repatched the walls were quick and polite. The crews also actually showed up when they said they would, which does not always happen with repair companies, so that was great. If I could, I would give the company 4.5 stars instead of 5 stars for a couple of reasons (but they aren't strong enough for me to rate the company only 4 stars, so I went with a 5). The first is the price; it's an expensive project regardless of who does it, but Repipe Specialists was higher than our other quotes. Plus I keep seeing 20% off discounts now and feel a bit like we overpaid since I hadn't seen those before we booked. However, they were able to get the job done earlier and quicker, so at the time we thought it was worth the extra money compared to hiring another company. The guys also broke a couple of things in our basement (like a mop bucket, which I assume they used as a stepping stool), which wasn't a big deal, but they should have told us instead of just leaving it. All in all, though, I would work with this company again. So far, the work seems solid, the service was professional and the job was done quickly and up to our expectations. read more

"We can't live like this anymore!" Our water pressure in the kitchen was a trickle. I would use water bottles to capture the trickle to fill up my coffee maker. We knew it was going to be a big project to re-pipe the house so we hesitated for a long time. But, it had to be done. We finally made the call. Ross came out and did the estimate which was reasonable. We said "let's do this". We could not be happier with the results. I highly recommend Repipe specialists. They have the most experience from what I could research and they had good references. Tim and Kim, the excellent husband and wife team, ran the project and did a terrific job. The hardest part was clearing away decades of "stuff" in our house to get to the pipes. We got it done so that the repiping could go forward. Now I go to my kitchen sink and literally have to turn the faucet down a bit because the water gushes out of the nice new faucet with full pressure. I am still amazed and wish I had called sooner. Repipe Specialists recently did the repipe on our home and we could not be happier with the results. We reached out to more than 12 local plumbing companies and only 2 responded and were able to give us quotes. Neither of which included the wall cutting or patching and neither would do PEX in our house, saying that it wasn't to code even though we had confirmed with our village that it was. From the very beginning Repipe Specialists were responsive and thorough with the quoting process. Jason, our salesperson, arrived right on time and did a thorough job of quoting and explaining there processes. Once we chose them, we worked with their team who arrived exactly when they said they would, were very hard working, organized, and very conscious of keeping things clean. The piping was done in less than a day and performed flawlessly and when the patching crew returned after our village inspection, they did just as good a job as the piping crew. I will say they were quick with responding to my online inquiry and scheduling our estimate. From there though, it was pretty much all downhill. Their contractor for Illinois was awful. He started off asking my husband to call the main office and cancel their appointment. Odd but my husband did as instructed. He then walked around our small 1280 square foot home and tell my husband they would need to remove cabinets, make all these holes, etc... when that made no sense. Our pipes can be easily accessed without removing our cabinets! My husband isn't a plumber but he has knowledge in other home repairs and my father-in-law is a home inspector. We're not clueless. He then quoted my husband a ridiculous number for re-piping our lower level. Once again, we're only 1280 square feet and had only 4 fixtures. When my husband questioned the number, he started making excuses and giving very sketchy reasons for the number. He then asked me husband how much we were willing to spend! Really? When my husband said he wouldn't share that information, shrugged and gave him the quote. He then wrote his personal cell at the top and told us to call that number if we wanted to move forward- not the main office. Weird. My husband was unhappy with the whole experience. I then called the main office to ask if his odd behavior matched their protocol and see if they had another plumber in our area. She said no and confirmed that, according to their records, he never even came and gave us an estimate, since he had my husband cancel. That, along with giving us his personal cell, can only lead me to believe he was trying to bypass Repipe and pocket the money. The person I spoke to at the office was very kind and helpful, so I do appreciate that. But, a manager was supposed to follow up with us and we had to call back before anyone returned out call. My husband spoke to a manager and she asked for us to send his estimate and a map of our house so they could confirm his number. No mention of the salesperson underhanded practices though. Finally, my husband spoke to a regional manager who confirmed the price the salesperson was actually correct, due to the fact they require at least 8 fixtures for their projects. They were going to charge us for an extra 4 fixtures! No one told us this was a requirement. In fact, my husband was told we had to have a 4 fixture minimum. Then, to find out we were being quoted and would have to pay for fixtures we don't even have to satisfy their "requirement" is ridiculous and awful customer service. What a waste of time and energy! if you work with them, be careful! Look at your quote and questions their pricing. Don't let them fool you and charge you for things you don't have or need! If you're in Illinois, be extra careful because their only contractor has extremely questionable work ethics. read more

First, note that Repipe Specialists are not going to be doing the actual work, just the sales, evaluation, and customer service. They subcontract the work to local companies around the country. In my case, I worked with All Affordable Plumbing in Chicago. That said, it seems that Repipe run a tight a ship and work hard to ensure that their subcontractors are of the best quality. My experience was very good. The cost was high, but I appreciated the option to use 0% funding after a reasonable down payment Horatio and the whole team of plumbers and patchers at All Affordable were courteous and professional and did terrific work. It took less time than estimated and disruption was minimal. I'm a bit disappointed that water pressure hasn't improved as much as I had hoped, but I don't fault the team or their work for this. The good thing is that water pressure is now very stable, and we can run four baths at the same time in the building! One snafu was that though there were several visits to the house by sales as well as the work team before the work was signed and begun, nobody cared to check if the b-box was functioning, which I have since learned is a common problem in Chicago. When we finally did check it, we found it was indeed broken. This required me to get the city's water division to fix it, which took almost 2 months, delaying the whole work into the holiday season and winter months. We could have saved everybody a lot of trouble if this was checked ahead of time. Repipe Specialists should add this to their sales procedure. read more

I had my entire 1962 townhouse repiped by repipe specialists due to low water pressure in the shower. I have been here since 1995 and things were great up until about two years ago. Having heard their commercials over and over on the radio, I gave them a call. They came out, gave me an estimate and talked straight about what needed to be done and done correctly. Needing financing, they had several options and I picked the one my pocketbook could handle in order to do the entire townhouse. They were true to their word -- all done in one day with minimal wall openings. The next day the drywallers came and whola you would never have known that all this work was done. The drywaller even made an access door and provided it so that I could access the main water shut off valve without having to take paneling trimwork and 3 sheets of panelling. They are the best and the greatest. I highly recommend them to anyone needing this important work done! read more

I was extremely unhappy with this company. I scheduled an appointment to get a quote to have my small house Repiped. Then on the day of my appointment a manager called and quoted me a huge price without even seeing the house!! He said "he's done enough houses that he doesn't need to come out...it's a waste of his time " I asked why it would be so much and he responded "I don't make any money on small houses" "so I prefer to do larger houses" "I have to charge you that amount because it's small" The company simply doesn't wish to work on small homes . We just had our entire plumbing repiped. We had really bad water pressure in the shower. No hot water on the laundry faucet due to rust and calcium buildup. For years we couldn't run any water if someone was showering. Ross came out to see us and give us a quote. He's a great guy. He knows his stuff. He explained what needed to be done. He got us 0% financing since we qualified. A few days prior, two pipe specialists came to see the layout of the house. Tim, Kim and crew did an outstanding job! After getting several quotes for changing the basement pipes in our 3bd, 2bt home (all of which were above $8000), I called Repipe Specialists. They quoted me $6400 to do the whole house! They were very personable, did good work, finished on schedule, cleaned up well, and followed the quote to the penny. I would've given 5 stars, but somehow the work caused our old, concrete tub to start leaking. I was told that would be a separate job (and more $$$). So aside from the incidental tub leak, I had a very positive experience. I'd use them again, if I didn't have a house full of new, shiny pipes :) read more

If I could have chosen less than one star for this company I would have. We called for an estimate to have our hot water line replaced from the house out to the street and that is not exactly a small job. However when they finally returned the call we were told that the job was too small for them that they only did whole houses. Very different attitude than their commercials portray. I had a rep come by to give me an estimate. There were two types of piping PEX and Copper. The Rep was on time, knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything to me. What made me suspicious was the pricing. PEX is known to be much cheaper than Copper since PEX is not as labor extensive. PEX was only maybe $1,500 cheaper than copper and that was only a partial repipe. What made me nervous is the salesperson being extremely pushy. If I signed up right away the price went down but again it was still high. I kept asking about access panels (which I could put in myself) but I was told "no you don't need them we patch everything". He didn't like it when I told him I wanted other estimates. read more

They were knowledgeable, professional and very polite and friendly from the sales rep to the plumbers and the quality of the work and the materials used were excellent. I wish I had done this sooner. The thought just sounded so intense we just keep patching leaks. From the initial quote to the actual process of repiping my home, this was the easiest thing I have ever done. Six men arrived on time. Each one introduced themselves to me with a handshake, and they went to work. 5 1/2 hours later they were done, cleaned up, and gone. Once the contract was signed Alex and crew from Asap plumping came ( on appointment date) and gave us information about how they are going to Repipe the whole house . Techs Juan and his partner did nice job . After 1 day the patching crew came and they did nice job patching all the holes . Overall the job from starting to finish was done professionally . Bought a new SFH in July 2016 and not all of the pipes have been updated with a remodel in 2005. Left most of the galvanized pipes that were causing moderate water pressure loss. Got a few quotes, but knew that Repipe specialized in this work and also that they had some good financing options too as we were looking at a limited budget with al the other updates we wanted to do in our 100+ year home. Crew was great, got in and out in a day on our 2 bath / kitchen / main project. Also were in and out in a day when they cam back to seal it all up. No more water pressure issues. read more

Salesperson didn't show up for the appointment twice. Third time scheduled and he calls a day before stating that he is in the neighborhood and could see us. He shows up in cargo shorts and a motorcycle rally t-shirt. He says he is not 'high pressure'. He states he will let us discuss and then come down and sign the paperwork. I went down and advised him that I was not going to sign anything that night. He said 'just sign it and you have 3 days to cancel. I'm not high pressure. I know you will sign it because I am such a wonderful salesman. Other companies want to steal me away.' I advised him again I was not going to sign because on the amount I am paying out, I research. He gave us a folder of items to read. I did read the paperwork in the folder and had follow up questions which he would not answer. I felt he was extremely condescending and wanted me to just shut up and sign the paperwork. No business card or business email. Ended up going with a wonderful, professional plumbing company that was not contracted out, professional looking and courteous. read more

From the sales call with David to the patching and cleanup, I felt very comfortable with my choice of Repipe Specialists. I had 3 estimates, and even though it wasn't a true apples to apples comparison, Repipe offered a more thorough and complete job. Horatio did a great job assessing my needs and planning the steps to complete it, making helpful suggestions during this time. The pipe crew (4-5 men) worked very efficiently and were finished by 2pm. The patching crew did a fantastic job the next day and left the patches super smooth and ready to prime. I didn't experience the huge change in water pressure, that everyone says they get when they re pipe, not that it's any fault of repipe specialists. Repipe Specialist came to my house in October of 2014, did an excellent job in and out in two days and have three floors of living. I was informed that their work was a Guaranteed for a Lifetime as long as I owned the house. This morning the bathroom shower faucet would not shut off, I called Repipe Specialist at 7:05 am; with my issues. My call was not returned until 11:22 am. Once my call was returned I was informed that the faucet was not under the Warranty and that I needed to get in contact with the manufacture Moen and request a fixture from them. When I asked the person I spoke why wasn't I given a copy of the warrantee for that fixture he had no answer. He made a feeble attempt to give me a phone number to call Moen, but without a receipt for the purchase it would be a moot point. Make sure that you receive an invoice for the purchase of all of the fixture that are installed in your home. They were of no assistant in trying to help me find a solution for this serious problem. read more
