I wanted a second opinion before spending that kind of money, so I called Nothing But Water Heaters and they got someone out pretty quickly. The technician, Manny, checked it out and realized the pilot light was just out. He spent a few minutes figuring out why, got it relit, and had everything working again in about 15 minutes. He also told us the water heater is from 2019 and doesn't need to be replaced anytime soon. What really got me was that he could have easily told us it needed replacing and we never would have known better. Instead he was straight with us, gave us a quote for whenever we do actually need a new one down the road, and wouldn't take payment for the visit even though I offered a few times. You don't run into that kind of honesty very often. I'll definitely be calling them when I do need a replacement, and I'm telling everyone I know to use them too.

Brian and Marco quickly diagnosed the problem, had the replacement part on hand, and got the AC up and running right away. How embarrassing! I had to call a strong friend to turn off the water at the street first and then I saw this plumber on Yelp and called. He said he could be over in about an hour and a half, and he did. It turns out that the super windy night had caused all this drama by blowing my empty trashcan against the pipe and snapping it! He had it fixed in about an hour and was so nice the whole time and the price was very reasonable!! The moral of the story is don't store you trash cans close to the piping outside Hahahah AND call this plumber if you need a remedy.
