Repeal is located inside the Hilton at the 2 Silos complex. It is down a short hallway on the right side of the lobby just before you get to the check in desk. It is an adults only venue (21+). You will be carded so bring your ID. A quick signal on the old fashioned wall phone and the secret door opens before you - revealing a dimly lit and quietly opulent 1920s speakeasy. We had made a reservation for when they opened at 4:00 pm and so were able to take some video. They have a no photography request on the menu - charmingly explained by the waiter as the need to preserve anonymity in case of a raid. Seating consists of a long bar at one side of the room, plus large semi-circular booths on the opposite side and a few 2 person tables in the middle of the room. There is also a semi private room at the back with banquette seating. We had the best waiter, Tippy, who explained the menu, described the drinks, answered all of our questions and made some very thoughtful suggestions. Repeal offers extremely well made classic cocktails as well as their own more modern creations. I began with the classic old fashioned - one of the best I've ever tasted. So smooth it's dangerous. The other standout for me was the No Name off the modern cocktails section - a potent combination that tasted like liquid tiramisu. The food menu is mostly small plates and meant to be shared. We began with the crispy potato wedges which come with 5 delicious dipping sauces, these are traditional British "chips" big fat wedges of potato with a creamy center and satisfying crunch on the outside. Other standouts were the trio of filet mignon and the Parmesan potatoes pave which are more tapas sized and absolutely delicious. I finished with the pineapple upside down cake served in a glass covered with crunchy rum caramel. There is live entertainment which was just beginning at 7:00 when we left. Had such a fantastic date night here! The vibe is SO cool, dark, and moody but also lively, and really loved that so many people dressed up in sequins and long strands of pearls to really elevate the vibe. And the live piano and singer were just perfect. My only complaint is that you can't hear or see them in the back room. Our server was also fantastic--on top of everything and super personable and fun. The food absolutely blew us away. For being a hotel restaurant, it was completely unexpected. The Korean cheese bread may have been one of the best things I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. The potato pave was crispy and creamy in all the right ways. The bone marrow tartare was the most elevated, interesting, flavorful way that I have experienced steak tartare in my life--the smokey marrow pulled the bright acidic steak back in an entirely different flavor direction. And the raclette burger was on point--the vinegar-y onions and pickles perfectly balanced the heavy raclette, slid from a steaming cast iron skillet onto your burger in front of you. The only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because the cocktails that I had were just....fine. [LATE POST] We went to Repeal for the first time to try their food and cocktails. We were able to get a last minute reservation which was great. We were seated as soon as we arrived. We shared the following dishes: Ahi Tuna Crudo, Crispy Potato Wedges, Black & Tan Bread, and Filet Mignon Trio. I personally loved the Crispy Potato Wedges and the Filet Mignon Trio. I thought the Ahi Tuna Crudo was pretty but too acidic for me while the Black and Tan Bread wasn't just impressive. For drinks, we had the Violet Dream and Bathtub Gin Fizz. The Violet Dream was good and the Bathtub Gin Fizz is pretty but tasted like bathtub water (no kidding), but I was able to finish it anyway. Overall, the food was great and the drinks are mostly good. The ambiance was beautiful! The service was a little slow during our visit but I hope it was just a bad day. Cozy spot to go with friends or a dinner date. You enter through the hotel, walk towards the back to be greeted by the hostess before you can enter. When you go through the doors, you are literally in the 1920's with the dim lights and decor. The lights are low to give a nice chill vibe. No live music when I was there so I definitely want to go back when there is. Our server, Martin, took really good care of us. The food and drinks were amazing. The drink menu has prohibition cocktails and new era cocktails. They have nice wine list and different spirits to choose from and beer too. We had the Repeal Hummus, the Velvet Wok and the Spicy tuna maki roll. For dessert we had the Repeal pineapple upside down cake. Everything was delicious and the dessert was the cherry on the top. Classy, sexy, professional. In the nicest nook of restaurants/hotels/good times, this speakeasy is well designed for professionals. Anytime there are velvet seats I feel at home. We decided to try Repeal on Valentine's day for post-dinner cocktails! I was so happy to see a place like this open in Prince William County. I think Repeal has great potential. The drinks were good but some were not great. The bathtub gin cocktail is one that I've ordered from multiple places over the years, but this one just didn't hit the spot for me. A tiny hint of sweetness was missing from it. Either some honey or some simple syrup would make the drink so much better. This drink just tasted very pineappley but without the sweetness. Overall, the drinks were good, they just didn't wow me this time; but I think they're 100% worth trying because you simply won't find cocktails like this in the area. I think the service was overall good but there were a few kinks that I think might have been due to a busy holiday. I also think if they added some rotating seasonal drinks, that would be really fun as well. The ambiance is moody and luxurious, perfect for date night or girls night. I would love to say that Repeal was terrible and service was awful. So that people will not make this the hottest spot in the area. However, it wasn't terrible, it was terrific, and the service wasn't awful, it was awesome. From the personal attention of the staff and bartenders, as well as the management making sure the experience was exceptional, we could not have enjoyed it more. Ben, one of our bartenders, took the time to ask about our personal tastes for drinks and prepared delicious cocktails. We ordered the Parmesan Potato Pave (just delicious), the jumbo shrimp prawns (huge worthy of pics) and the Filet trio. Everything was awesome. Amber the F&B manager made sure we had everything we needed and lent a personal attention that you don't find many places. It's a small very cozy venue with an old time vibe and upscale service. Will most definitely return to try more menu items and explore their drink options further. I just hope this speakeasy stays a hidden gem. read more

This was the first time my wife and I have visited Repeal Speakeasy and have a few thoughts. We ordered a few appetizers, some cocktails, some wine, and an entree. Now when it comes to the food. I have to say, I was pretty impressed. Everything we ordered was great and the cocktails were good. The place had an overall chill vibe and it appeared that everyone was having a great time. However, there is one issue that I am sure management may or may not be aware of. Now my wife and I are not speedy eaters and we are also mindful about not taking "too much time" as other patrons make their way in. Having said that, I am not sure that based on the size of the restaurant and the staff working that our experience should have been nearly three hours. When we were first approached, we were asked if our orders had been taken to which we responded "no one has taken our order yet" (thinking it was someone from management). We quickly realized that it was the individual waiting on our table. From there it seemed like we were forgotten. So much so that we saw customers come and go, saw that their wait staff was more attentive and explained the menu, and ultimately having to flag down another wait staff to get our check. In a world where real problems exist, this is no where near a serious issue, however, I can see this being an issue with other customers in the future. Will definitely return! read more

I really enjoyed Repeal. We got the black and tan bread, crispy potato wedges, and lobster rolls for food and the blackberry side car and cucumber poke a dot for drinks. Everything was great. Service was friendly but a little slow. Honestly we didn't mind because we weren't rushed at all. My favorite part was actually the volume level!
