Buddha's Garage is the second one. Dave has the energy of a man who has looked directly into the screaming mechanical abyss of humanity and simply sighed, grabbed a wrench, and fixed it anyway. I swear half the vehicles in that shop arrive after being spiritually wounded somewhere else. Other mechanics will look at your engine like medieval doctors diagnosing ghosts. Dave looks at it once, tilts his head slightly like a jazz musician hearing a wrong note, and suddenly knows your alternator was installed backwards by somebody named Tyler in 2019. And here's the wild part: he's honest. Like deeply, suspiciously honest. The kind of honest that makes you uncomfortable because you forgot businesses could still operate without trying to sell you seventeen imaginary emergencies. Dave will straight up tell you cheaper alternatives, better options, things you can wait on, things you DON'T need. I almost wanted to ask him if he understood capitalism. The customer service feels less like a business and more like your truck wandered into a monastery where everyone took vows of kindness and diagnostic accuracy. Meanwhile other shops are out here playing roulette with socket sets: "Hmmm yes, perhaps your issue is... all of the parts." Then Buddha's Garage fixes it in an afternoon and somehow charges you like they still believe in human dignity. Also -- Dave knows an absolutely terrifying amount about vehicles. Not "guy who watches YouTube tutorials" knowledge. I mean ancient-library-hidden-under-the-desert knowledge. The kind where you start explaining the noise your car makes and he already knows the answer before you finish making the sound effect. At this point I'd trust Buddha's Garage with anything mechanical. My car. My lawn mower. A damaged submarine. If NASA called and said a shuttle was making a weird clicking noise, I'd probably hand them Dave's number. I'm going there no matter what. If I move across the state, I'll crawl back on flaming rims like a pilgrim returning to holy ground.

A warm and friendly greeting was my first impression by the office manager. Amazing service from start to finish. Thorough communication from the technician and owner about the processes and service rendered. Transparency on all prices quoted over the phone and during checkout. Location was easy to find and close to convenient stores or a coffee shop for waiting nearby. Honest, professional, competitively priced, I have no complaints. It's a locally owned family owned and run business that seems to always give to the community through other charitable endeavors. I feel pretty lucky to have found an ethical place to get my car repaired. They really are a breath of fresh air for the automotive repair industry.

I learned two things this week: Ford apparently believes…read moreimportant undercarriage components should be attached with hardware that eventually inspires creative solutions involving zip ties. The folks at Grease Monkey are exactly the kind of people you hope answer the phone when your car decides to create a new form of anxiety. My partner had recently taken my Ford Edge to Grease Monkey for an oil change. Everything went smoothly and life carried on. Until early this morning. I'm cruising down 183 at about 70 mph when suddenly there is a loud, horrifying noise coming from underneath my vehicle. The kind of noise that immediately makes you start calculating how much money you're about to spend. I pulled over, crawled underneath the car, and found what looked like a twisted, bent, angry piece of metal hanging beneath my vehicle. After a brief consultation with Google and a few moments of "what fresh automotive nonsense is this?" I realized my splash shield and oil pan cover had finally succumbed to the curse that apparently plagues many Ford Edge owners. My first call was to Grease Monkey. Not because I wanted someone to blame. I simply wanted someone knowledgeable to tell me what I was looking at and what to do next. They immediately told me to bring it in. The moment I arrived, I was greeted by some of the friendliest people I've encountered in the automotive world. They took a look, removed the damaged materials, explained exactly what needed to be replaced, told me what parts to order, and then said something that absolutely earned this review: "When the parts come in, bring it back and we'll make sure it's put on correctly." No arguing. No finger-pointing. No trying to sell me things I didn't need. No talking down to me because I'm a woman. And that last part matters. A lot. Women know exactly what I'm talking about. There are still far too many places where asking a vehicle question results in someone speaking to you like you've wandered into a physics lecture you weren't invited to. That was not the experience here. Instead, I was treated with respect, kindness, and genuine helpfulness. What impressed me most wasn't that they fixed the immediate issue. It was that they took ownership of helping me find the right solution, even when the problem wasn't necessarily their fault in the first place. That's customer service. Real customer service. The kind that's becoming harder and harder to find. So if you're looking for a place that employs knowledgeable people, treats customers like human beings, and understands that earning trust is just as important as changing oil, Grease Monkey has my vote. Five stars.

I bring up that brake issue because it eventually became a pattern of dropping the ball, and repeated issues 1. My car had to be towed because basic logic well known issue for GMC/Chevy 6.2 liter V8 engines have a lifter issue which requires engine replacement. The car wasn't in bad shape as you say. Cadillac dealership said I should have it towed due to the knocking sound. My car has always been kept immaculate. Yes you quoted a fair price, it was Lambs in Lakeway that was ridiculous and most people know they are. The engine took long because they sent the wrong engine and in regards to my finances it wasn't I couldn't pay . I was at the mercy of you and I was nothing but polite every single interaction with you. Your dropped the ball so many times and you actually asked me for advance payment at one point because you needed to pay your taxes . I didn't want to pay you UPFRONT Frank. You fix then pay, that's most every way it's done . You didn't have the money to cover costs which is a concern regarding running a business. I had also just spent money on another car repair and boat repairs . The car sat as I decided what I wanted to do. As far as stating you could have charged me storage you never once mentioned that and I have every phone call that proves that. Pretty shady of you to pull that out on your reply here. Again not on single time did you ever mention storage fees. So please don't act as if it was some favor you did. The car went in for an engine replacement. As you confirmed the day you put the engine in to test drive you call me telling me I need steering column replacement. Yes I have you on recording Frank stating that indeed the lift and big tires were the culprit. The steering was completely fine and it had not been driven once per you as we waited for the engine issue and replacement to be resolved. You now understand why I recorded you. You can't remember what you told me. I didn't struggle to pay you. I had a boat in repair and another car a Range Rover in repair. I communicated to you very professionally. By the way let's remember you had me pay up front on everything. It was the engine that was ordered that was delayed. 2. Regarding the transmission line. Let the public see this post. I pick up my car from Frank and I make it about a quarter to half a mile or so down road and what becomes the problem is the transmission line. Frank I have that call to you recorded as well and your claim that I accelerated or false and blew the line is total BS. It had nothing to do with big tires. I'm saving all my facts, statements from GM certified techs , and video of your guy coming over to "fix" it. Within a day or 2 it went out again and I made you tow it for free. It was your guy that you sent and had him do what he did and sent me on my way and that all was fine only to have it sent back to you. By the way on our recorded call you tried to lead me to believe with certainty it was one thing when in fact you were wrong and called me with another reason. Again grateful I recorded both those conversations. The reputable mechanics I discussed were my brothers out of Houston. My brother owns a professional garage and luxury and collector car biz for 22 years. The other reputable people was a connection I had out of A Cadillac dealer in Dallas. I mentioned this to you and so logically my car stayed locally with you. 3. The whole issue about you spending 200 for the detail I will just say to anyone reading this look at the pics of my Escalade left in his care. Never should have happened Frank. By the way I took a time stamp video of my car before it went back to you. I didn't spill the oil. That's a regular engine oil. Why would I need engine oil to leave in my backseat after you just repaired and did an engine replacement. Again shady of you to blame that on me. And by the way I had to waste 3 hours of my work day sitting there waiting on a detail. Completely unprofessional. 4. I asked you you fix my windshield wiper motor while you had it. You never did. I kept asking you very time you had the car and I have your texts alone that show you forgot several times. same thing Frank regarding the transmission thermostat. I asked you several times, you came out to fix my running board and forgot to get the transmission thermostat and windshield motor. Again pretty crazy you fixed my transmission yet our texts show you dropping the ball on the thermostat. I have lost count on the amount of texts I have that show you never show up on time. I'm done with my response. I'll update this post after claims court.
