I've been training under Relson since 2000 at his Kaimuki location. When the main academy closed and Waterfront opened up, I immediately followed to continue my training. This is their third location and I totally enjoy everything about this place. Not too far from home, work or somewhere to eat after training. I only attend night classes, and there's great teachers and students of all body types for good diversity. They teach more self defense than sport jiu jitsu, but there's something for everybody! read more

Great place to learn Relson Gracie Jiu Jitsu. Instructors are direct Black Belts under the Grandmaster and this is one of the few places in Hawaii that the Grandmaster frequents whenever he is in the islands. I currently live in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.... but have been training at Waterfront since they were on Merchant St. The school is top notch with a wealth on knowledge. Sam, one of the daytime instructors is Relson's longest standing black belt in Hawaii. What's so great is that there's so much knowledge and they take time to break it down and examine all possibilities. The night classes are great too. There's different instructors with different styles.... you get the opportunity to learn to roll with small, fast, and flexible opponents. Also learn how to create opportunities if you're missing the athletic attributes of a younger person. Jiu jitsu is more then just a sport or for self defense... but a lifestyle of family. Like I said, I live out of state, but try to get to the gym whenever I'm back. I recommend trying it for more then any one reason. read more

My husband and I always planned to send our son to Jiu Jitsu the second he turned three years old. When I found out that there was a school about five minutes from where I live I was excited to take my son. Coach Kimo is the Coach for the kids class. And he is so patient. My son cried and didn't want to participate the first few classes. So Coach allowed my son to sit and watch. By the third class my son was excited to go to class and wanted to try. It's so much fun watching the kids learn all the moves. Coach Kimo is patient and explains all the moves step by step. And repeat till all the kids get it. I'm always amazed on how quick the kids pick up the lessons. And I enjoy seeing my son practicing the moves at home.
