I had an unusual problem I had to deal with. A 400lb metal fountain was delivered to my house. The driver helped me push it into the back of my pickup. Now I needed to get it out. I work alone so I didn't have anyone to help me. I was thinking of renting an engine hoist to remove it. When I got to Rent Equip and talked with David, we realized the shell on my truck wouldn't allow it to work. David got on the forklift and removed the fountain and loaded it onto a small tilting trailer. I got to my Jobsite and was able to tilt the trailer to get it off. Job done!! Can't thank David and Francisco enough for taking the time to think through different ways to help solve my problem. I went to another top rated rental yard and they had little interest in helping me so I'm very happy I found Rent Equip. read more

Poor management bobcat got stuck on my property manager called and said he was going to charge me to it out and told him that they should explain what type of materials ypiece of equipment on he told me that it's not his problem and that they don't have time to do that. This place rented me a bad tool. The advertised tool online wasn't the same tool as in the store. It took time out of my day to return the tool that wasn't worth the rental price. They probably threw it away after I returned it and laughed at me. read more

I couldn't be happier! I've lived in Drip for just over a year now and have always rented from the other place in town, but when I called them up 2 weeks ago to reserve a stump grinder, they told me that theirs was broke and referred me to Rent Equip here on 290. So I called them up and asked them for one and they told me I could have it that Saturday. Since they're not open on Sundays, I basically go two days (Sat and Sun) for the price of one, as I couldn't return it until Monday. So I have maybe 100 or so relatively small (most were maybe 3-5") cedar stumps to grind out and I hired a day laborer to do the job for me. Well, the machine worked great until the knucklehead apparently let it run out of gas. After that, we couldn't get it restarted, even though we filled it back with gas (I didn't realize that knucklehead had run it out of gas at that time). I emailed Rent Equip that Sunday and explained the problem (that we couldn't get it started, despite having a battery and electric starter). They came by and picked it up on Monday (I had already flown out of town on business earlier that morning) and diagnosed that there was air in the fuel line and had to bleed it (that's when they asked me if it had been run dry--so I'm guessing that's what happened). In any event, I explained that I had no idea if it had been run down without gas or not, all I knew was that I didn't get the usage out of it that I was expecting. They very graciously apologized for my inconvenience and suggested that I rent it again for another day at no additional charge to me--how's that for excellent customer service in this day and age! I picked up a grinder that following Sat, hired another day laborer who was able to complete the job, and returned the grinder. I couldn't be happier and from now on my first call for any additional equipment rentals is to Rent Equip on Hwy 290 in Dripping Springs!! read more

After doing years of business with Rent Equip both at their Burnet RD. Location, and satellite locations Marshall has proven that the company does not stand by their equipment, and has horrible customer service. In this case we rented a roller compactor, which was not in mechanical shape to run. First the machine was leaking fuel steadily, and once we fixed their rigged fuel supply hose splice at our own expense it turned out that the machine was also pulling in air from another unknown location causing the machine not to run, and putting us out of over $200. It was a saturday rental, and we called as soon as the issue occurred, but they close early on saturdays, and do not have a message machine. We tried to work with Marshall to resolve the issue by requesting only a partial refund, or even partial credit to use on our next rental at their business, but it was sharply declined with no effort to make things right. They lost a loyal customer of which that have made thousands of dollars on simply over a partial rental credit and not standing by their equipment. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS! We will take our business back to Cattrax. read more

Just rented a power washer from these guys to remove some loose paint from my deck. They recommended the more powerful (and more expensive) unit. I asked if it would damage the deck at all. They confidently told me it would not. So I fire the unit up, and in a few minutes I realize it's tearing my deck up. It dug up lines along the grain and tore off the edges of the floorboards. Now, sure, my deck isn't brand new with perfectly strong wood, but I wouldn't need to be removing loose paint if it was brand new. I took the unit back and complained, and they responded that they can't know everything. But if you don't know, then you should not confidently respond as if you do. It's not that hard to say you don't know, particularly when you are recommending the stronger unit for the job. These guys should know the basics about their tools and at least be able to give warnings about possible damage in very common usage. And to make it worse, the first unit I took home had such a bad leak at the pump that the spray could barely sweep dirt off the deck. I picked the unit up at lunch, and started setting it up at 5PM. At about 5:20 I realized it was bad, so I rushed back to the store for help. They reluctantly agreed to give me another unit. They complained that I didn't bring the other one back with me, but I knew they closed at 5:30 and I didn't think I could get the unit packed up, lifted onto my truck and get back to the store in time. When I returned them both the next morning and complained about the damage to my deck, they showed no interest in customer satisfaction. Instead, they continued to complain that I didn't phone them earlier the day before when my unit went bad. The problem was their bad equipment, and they wanted to rag on me about it. I'm done with these guys. They should have acknowledged their mistakes and tried to get me to be a returning customer. No way. They're plenty nice until you have an issue, then they just want you out of the store. I can help them with that. Permanently read more

Marshall and the guys over at Rent Equip are always helpful and on point with us. They hold our gear till we can get up there, which is rare. When we have problems with the equipment they make it right (as long as they can tell its normal wear and not you tearing it up!!) Don't come in this place asking a million questions. Do your research and know what tool to ask for and how to use it before you come in. If you come in acting a little 'green' they may be weary of renting you their expensive gear for such a reasonable price, as I would definitely be myself. I LOVE THIS PLACE! 1. They have a large and varied inventory of rental equipment. 2. All the equipment is either new or in near new condition 3. They maintain the equipment extremely well. 4. Their rates are cheaper than the large DIY stores rentals. 5. They are really easy to rent from. Going to tool rental places is like reverting to childhood and being a kid in a candy store for me. I want everything I see. And at Rent Equip that's not a bad thing. I needed a chipper to complete the assault on the cedars on our property. We like them (shut up. We can like them if we want), but they were too thick and overgrown. So I spent a week cedar chopping and because I refuse to wear long pants while doing it, my legs looked like I had been attacked by tiny angry ninjas when I was done. But the yard looked seriously better except that I now had a huge pile of cedar branches to get rid of. Seriously. Like 12 feet across and 8 feet high. Animals and neighbor children were beginning to nest in it. I tried to scare off the animals and live trap the children but it became a chore so I needed to get rid of Cedar Mountain. I called the DIY stores and asked about a chipper rental. Yeow! They evidently love their chippers so much they couldn't bear to part with them and so they priced them so high nobody would want to rent them. So I called around and found out that Rent Equip rents a bigger, badder chipper for much less! After baiting the live traps with some peanut butter and video games I was off to Rent Equip. The guys there were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure I had no problems. They gave me the whole rundown on how to start and operate the chipper safely of course, then they gave me a couple of tips for the most efficient use that showed they had used this bad boy themselves. The tips were great and their quick paperwork and checkout made it a fast turnaround. I got the chipper home quickly and went to work and in less than 2 hours Cedar Mountain became Mulch Hill. It was great! I brought Chipzilla back and raved about how well it worked and found out they sharpen the chipper blades after every use and recondition it fully before putting it back on the rental line. And while I was there I saw several other tools I want to rent to finish a couple of projects. And one I just really want to rent because it's big and noisy and I want it. Stopped in Saturday morning to rent a Bluebird gas powered aerator to aerate our lawn. Got there a 7:30 and they had 3 employees working. All of them were very nice and friendly. After signing our paperwork, we were shown how to use the equipment and they took care of loading it into our vehicle. The cost for renting the aerator from 7:30-5:30 was about $68 dollars. About an hour into using the aerator, the chain fell off the drive gear. I called Rent Equip and they said to bring it back and they would fix it. Sure enough, it took them about 10 minutes to fix it. They apologized and reloaded it back into our vehicle. When I returned it later that day, I was given $9 in coupons to use off my next rental. These guys are easy to work with and have good attitutudes. They offer a ton of equipment to rent. I'd recommend them for any power equipment rentals you may need. read more

Don't go to this place, they treat customers like crap. I rented an expensive piece of equipment from them, it didn't work right, they tried to tell me it was my fault and that I lied about it. I can't believe they are still in business if they treat people like this. I'll never go back. read more

If I could give this place one star, I would. This business will try to cheat you. They actually have the time on their system set back one hour (daylight savings didn't just happen). Which means there's a good chance you can be late when returning a 24 hour rental. I became aware of this after returning my rental and was chastised by the guy at the counter for being late. He said he'd let it slide this time, but next time I would have to pay. Since I paid with a credit card, I had the actual time on my credit card receipt, not an hour off like the store receipt. There's no doubt that this company is robbing cash paying customers. I called him out on it, and he said, "oh yeah, I just noticed that." Right. This store has three locations. Burnet Rd., Hwy 71, and Hwy 290. My experience was with the Burnet Rd. store. I can't speak for the other two, but certainly stay away from the Burnet location. read more

What happened to Alan? I've been going there for 15 years. From time to time I've had equipment issues but have always brought it back and had it made right by the owner, Alan. I haven't been there in six months and today I go back and the 'manager' is there - not Alan. He's (manager) recommending a piece of equipment that I don't think will work for the job. I start asking him detailed questions and he starts getting belligerant. So, I ask the final, magic question, if it doesn't do what you say will you give me a credit? Answer - he gets red in the face then tells me (sarcastically) thanks for coming in as he walks away back towards his office. It's sad to move on but things change. I'm in the market for a new equipment rental shop. It really is too bad. read more

This was a year ago, but memorable enough to remember. I reserved a dump trailer well in advance. Took the day off work to do the job. When I showed up the guy at the desk said they didn't have it. The regular customer who had it rented the day before wanted it for an extra day "what was I supposed to do?" he asked. Call me and give me a heads-up maybe? No apology and a real unconcerned attitude. He did call around and find me a replacement across town, and pricking it up took about an hour an a half out of my work time. I had been here before and been a happy customer, not dealing with that guy again though. read more

Real great rental place if you're just looking for basic stuff for a day. I just needed a Shop Vac to clean some water damage out of my car, and they were very accommodating in helping me out. They even gave me a discount since I was only using it for under an hour. I'll be back! read more

Terrible customer service! Cody acts like he's mad you're there. I rented a chain saw. I was clearly told to put the hand brake forward, which Stihl shows in its directions on line. When I couldn't operate the saw I took it back and he said I had moved the clutch forward and that they had to take the saw apart to make it work. I tried to ask him what I had done wrong but he immediately walked away from me. I followed his and the internet's directions. He didn't want to talk to me or explain or help. His instructions in the beginning were hurried and cursory. I guess everyone that rents from them is supposed to be an expert. I WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN and I am going to warn my HOA. read more

I call to book a stock trailer on Thursday, the guy on the phone tells me to call if I am not planning to pick up the next day at 5pm. I show up at 5pm the next day and no trailer, the owner of Rent-Equip needed the trailer on Thursday night. I asked the guy at the desk why I didn't receive a call and his comment was he isn't perfect. I asked him to make it right, and give me a call. I was obviously upset and when I called again to get satisfaction( since they didn't call me back), they told me they did not want to do business with me. Of course all of the rental companies close at 5pm, so I was out for Friday night. I called the rental company in Dripping on Mercer Street on Saturday morning and he was so helpful to the point he was calling friends of his to see if I could use their trailer. The Rent-Equip guys cost me a lot of time and money, and if you run a rental place and the equipment isn't on-site they aren't worth much. read more
