5 January 2021 In…read moresearch of a chest of drawers, I Googled 'furniture stores' and found ABC Furniture. When I looked at it's location on the map I was a bit puzzled. I was puzzled because I go to a gym in the area an never noticed a furniture store. I was wrong. It is right next to the gym I go and I noticed the building ever time except, based on the sign, I always thought it was a mattress warehouse only. The parking lot is shared with the other businesses. It looks like it would be challenging to navigate if it were full, especially since there were two large delivery trucks parked outside. There is also street parking available too. The exterior of the building isn't too appealing. It is a warehouse style building crammed between a church and what looks like a woodworking shop (maybe that's where they repair furniture?). That made it a bit confusing to find the entrance. Once we found a door, we poked our heads inside to verify we were in the right place. An employee at the desk (she looked like the owner/manager by he demeanor) was on the phone but welcomed us in. After walking past the desk, we noticed all the furniture. It is a big facility but all the furniture was packed in there. The showroom had furniture for ever room in the house. I even noticed a sleeper (I have been thinking of getting one) but it was a floral colour and I want something plain with a solid colour. We saw three chest of drawers that we liked. They were simple and each was a different shade of brown. Each were approximately $900. I think the price is on par for Hawaii. Delivery to Ewa Beach would be $95. Another female employee was helpful with showing us all the different pieces and answering any questions we had. We were not committed yet so we took a business card and left. The warehouse was easy to find it is right off Farrington Hwy between Leokane and Pupukahi streets. When you pull off Farrington Hwy, you will be in the warehouse's parking lot, which has about 6 slots (1 handicap accessible) from what I remember. The lot looks like it is shared with another business but I don't remember the name however, I believe they are affiliated because the man that was standing in that doorway walked into the furniture store behind us. Once we walked in, a male employee greeted us and asked what were we looking for. I informed him that we were in search of a chest of drawers so he walked me to the back corner. Maybe my understanding of a chest of drawers is different? From what I've been taught, it is typically a bedroom furniture (you know, the one that goes in the bedroom where you store clothes?). In any case, he showed me something that looked more like a display cabinet typically for the living room. It was a beautiful case but, not practical for what I was looking for. Price - oh boy! The display case I was shown was $900+ The employee stated it was solid wood so I suppose that justified the price. Other items in the store were also pricey. I looked at a beautiful, solid wood again according to the employee, queen-size bed. When I asked for the price, he stated "approximately $11,000 for the set" which must be bought together. If I wanted just the bed, I would not be able to get it; set only. Delivery to Ewa Beach area would be about $150 (I am not sure the cost to deliver elsewhere). The store was packed with all sorts of "oriental" furniture. Their Facebook page states that the furniture is manufactured in their own factories but I'm not sure where those factories are located. When I asked where the furniture is from, the employee stated that they are from Japan, South Korea, and other Asian countries. He even showed me a display cabinet called Korean cabinet; only named so but not made in Korea. The store has some beautiful furniture with unique designs but it was not what I was looking for. Even if I loved something there, like the bed for example, the price was much too high for what I would spend.

Picked it up to save on delivery. Easy to assemble. A couple days after purchasing, we heard a crack while sleeping. The wood holding the bed cracked and we completely dipped in the middle. Called the next day to see if there was warranty on the part and they said there is no warranty since we already picked up the furniture. Why would there be warranty while being stored but once we drive off the lot the warranty disappears? Made a complaint and they said even if there was warranty there's nothing they can do because the piece isn't in the warehouse and not being restocked in the near future. So my fiance went out to Home Depot and bought a wood piece to try and fix self. It worked thanks to him. Last night, there was another crack and the other piece broke! Okay, time to buy a washer and dryer, as major appliances these days have a short life and not worth repairing. My stress level rises, as there are limited stores that stock major appliances and need to order from the Mainland, which will take days. Until we found the Costco Wholesale Home Showroom in Pearl City, which opened on 10/11/24. It's a brick-and-mortar store that took the place of the Sears Distribution Store where you can browse in person of large furniture and equipment items. Hubby knew what he was looking for, as he tried to do his research in knowing which brands to look for because of various reasons (hard to find parts, product problems, etc.). He was looking for the Maytag brand. Costco has some special rules in selling its furniture and large appliances: * Costco Wholesale membership is required to make purchases. As soon as you enter the Showroom, you must scan your membership card against a machine. * The showroom allows for a number of large items (TVs, furniture, appliances, exercise equipment, outdoor furniture, couches, dining tables, bedroom furniture, beds, washers/dryers, refrigerators, massage chairs, credenzas, etc.) to be placed in one area to be sold. The regular Costco stores lack the space to store large furniture and equipment for its members to view them all at one time. The showroom interior is spacious, clean, and air-conditioned. * The showroom requires you to order items that are delivered with an estimated delivery date to the member's address, installed as needed, and the initial item hauled away. There may be shipping, delivery and hall-away fees. (For a washer, I was quoted a shipping fee of $29, which was nominal.) Prices appear reasonable. This contrasts with the regular Costco stores in that if you purchase a large item such as this, you haul it away on your own and dispose the initial item on your own. We often wish we could purchase large items this way; however, because we don't own a truck and are elderly, we would have to bother family members for assistance. Delivery occurred without any hitch. Costco provided the Board of Water Supply's Water Sensible Rebate Program application for completion. * The Showroom acts as an online shopping account. One could make purchases and place orders at home using a computer. The Showroom has staff to assist if needed. As hubby and I are technology challenged, we welcome the assistance of staff to ensure that we ordered correctly. Our experience with the Costco staff, Leanne and Maddy, was extremely friendly, patient and helpful. * Hours of operation differ from regular Costco Wholesale stores. The Showroom hours of operation are: Mon closed, Tues to Sat 10a to i6p, and Sun 10a to 5p. There are no Executive Member hours from 9a to 10a daily. Living on an island has its drawbacks, as there are limited stores where you can purchase furniture and major appliances. Glad that Costco has established a Showroom on Oahu that has reasonable prices and is convenient for its members to purchase these items without having to haul it away on your own and dispose of the non-working items.

The delivery team arrived approximately 40 minutes late without any notice or communication…read more Immediately upon arrival, the driver stated he was "not happy" and began arguing with me about the delivery before even making any meaningful attempt to move the refrigerator. The refrigerator was supposed to be delivered upstairs into my home, and the stairs were clearly disclosed in the delivery instructions ahead of time. One of the delivery workers stated that the refrigerator could potentially be brought upstairs, but the driver refused to even attempt the delivery. The refrigerator was never removed from the dolly, lifted, repositioned, or properly assessed for delivery. The driver repeatedly stated he was not going to move it at all and left the refrigerator sitting in my garage. During the delivery, I contacted Island Movers customer service and spoke with an employee named Cece. I found her behavior extremely disrespectful and unprofessional, as she laughed during the phone call while I was trying to resolve the situation. I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and concern shown throughout the entire ordeal. In an effort to help complete the delivery and eliminate liability concerns, I even offered to sign a waiver accepting responsibility for any possible damage to the refrigerator, floors, or property. Despite this, the driver still refused to make any attempt whatsoever to complete the delivery. I had to take time off work for this appointment, only for the delivery crew to essentially refuse service after arriving. The refrigerator is still sitting unusable in my garage due to their refusal to complete the delivery. I am extremely disappointed that Costco contracts with a company that operates in this manner.

A mind blowing 40K sf shop in a former military bunker, not only did it show me a piece of Hawaiian history I didn't know about but the inventory is mind boggling . Impulsive retail therapy eventually does have some consequences and though I do still have difficulty parting with many items that bring me joy it doesn't mean that it will give others joy as well. Savers is here for one of the reasons and knowing that it's going to a good cause does makes me feel better especially as many do shop here for various reasons finding that items does makes it all worth while. They also give you a discount coupon for your donation to which you can shop and find items at an even greater deal with that coupon so it's a win win situation...and yes I do shop and have found items here as well so don't think that you won't it just takes a bit of search and you never know what you'll find.
