What followed was not the provision of medical care consistent with Nevada law or accepted standards of practice, but a sequence of dismissals, misrepresentations, and dangerous prescribing decisions (AGAIN) that placed me, the patient, at risk and violated my rights. 1. Clinical Analysis of the Discharge Record Even though the staff verbally "scoffed" and suggested it was just a 'kidney stone', the After Visit Summary tells a different story: Official Diagnosis: They have officially documented Ureteropelvic junction (UPJ) obstruction as a primary diagnosis. This is not a "simple kidney stone"; it is the exact pathology identified at the first ER. Abnormal Lab Results: My urinalysis showed Trace Protein and 1+ Ketones, which indicates my kidneys are under stress. Medication: They administered Ketorolac (Toradol) at 6:32 PM. Toradol is an NSAID that can be hard on the kidneys; given my history of kidney failure, this needs to be monitored closely. Breach of the Standard of Care: This occurs when a provider fails to provide the level of care a competent professional would. (e.g., dismissing an acute UPJ obstruction as "chronic pain" without new imaging). Failure to Diagnose / Delay in Diagnosis: The refusal by SMRMC to perform a new CT or MRI despite worsening lab markers (Protein/Ketones) and a 1.9 cm lesion. Patient Abandonment/Violation of Rights: Repeated requests for a Patient Advocate were denied, and call buttons were ignored. I WILL ADD THIS TO MY ON-GOING CASE, PICTURED BELOW AND THE COMPARISONS OF BOTH EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT FALIURES.

After a few minutes, the doctor's assistant, Maria, called me to follow her to the exam room. She prepped me for my appointment by taking my vitals: blood pressure, tested my blood sugar, took my weight and noted any changes with medications. A few more minutes passed before my doctor stepped into the room; usual clinical talks, we discussed my lab results, changed to my diet and medication, exercise routine and schedule other tests plus referrals to other medical care I may need (like an eye exam). Overall, this visit was very routine; everyone was polite and professional.

My experience with Dr. Saba Mohammed proved that statement to be entirely false. It was a complete failure of medical ethics. Instead of investigating peer reviewed literature or acknowledging my documented history, Dr. Saba Mohammed defaulted to a "delusional disorder" diagnosis. This is blatant medical gaslighting. It is an attempt to pathologize a patient who is well-educated on their own condition because the provider is unable to keep up with modern research. If you have a complex illness and you are smarter than your average physician, stay away. This office would rather label you as mentally ill than do the work to understand a multi-system physiological issue. Dr. Saba Mohammed is not the most competent doctor they have. He is not competent at all. This is a provider who retreats into psychiatric labels when they are out of their depth and incapable of doing their actual job or using any level of critical thinking whatsoever.

I myself a little cocktail of ADHD, GAD, CPTSD, MDD, and ~OCD. I won't lie to you, exposure therapy is the hardest thing I've ever done. However, the differences between when I started and when I graduated? Freaking astounding. I was not even leaving my house anymore. The pressure of conforming to society and worrying and force masking myself to please whoever I was around wore me paper thin. OCD was making my life smaller and smaller every year. But now, after showing up and continuing to try things that specifically made my skin crawl and learned how to sit with it, I am back to living a relatively normal life. I leave my home whenever I have to (sometimes I even WANT TO ) and I'm back to handling whatever life throws at me without compulsing and avoiding for hours every day. Even rehearsing, masking, and people pleasing are at an all time low for me. I'm so much more comfortable being authentic. I presented myself to the Renown South Meadows ER at 5:15 AM on a Sunday morning. I was promptly admitted and was quickly seen by an ER doctor who talked to me about my symptoms and did a thorough exam. After the exam, he ordered a CT scan and some labs. The results came quickly and the ER doctor soon let me know that he had spoken to the on-call surgeon who was coming in to personally look at the test results and examine me. The surgeon arrived in short order. She was amazing. She was smart, caring, and had a wonderful bedside manner. I followed her recommendation and agreed to an urgent surgery. She had everything scheduled within a short period of time. She also did an excellent job communicating my condition and surgery results to my husband. After surgery, I was transported to the telemetry unit. I couldn't have had better care from my RN's and CNA's. They were all caring, smart, and compassionate. They listened to me and did their best to help me get better. As a matter of fact, everyone from Renown who came into my room to do anything (the phlebotomists, housekeeping, the kitchen staff) were amazing. I attribute my quick recovery to the excellent care I received from my medical team of doctors, nurses, and the rest of the Renown staff.

The initial appointment is almost impossible to get but I'm not sure they have a fair way to make…read moreit any better. The need just GREATLY outweighs the supply. If they were keeping a waiting list I'd most likely still be waiting. We need national health care for real. I will say the doctors are often rushed off their feet so when somebody like me comes in with an A1c of 7 after 2 unmedicated years, they don't really have a lot of time for me. They have a lot sicker patients with a lot fewer resources who need their time more. I'm on disability so coming here for me is mostly a question of "who will take my medicaid without charging me extra". I will note that the dispensary on the first floor has ONE employee on the desk who always seems to be there when I go in, and he ROUTINELY hides my meds. I'm not kidding. He won't put my name on the monitor and he won't tell me when my meds are ready for pickup. Other people come and go and he ALWAYS leaves me sitting there. I have NEVER had any sort of argument with this guy, he just targets me for reasons that are unclear and doubtless totally random. Once I sat there for 2 hours, he went away and someone else came on and the FIRST THING the new person did was notice my medication and call my name. It had apparently been sitting there for over an hour. Last time he dispensed only ONE MONTH'S worth of my medication when it was written for 3 months, then he refused to correct it and told me I would just have to pay extra to get the other 2 months. It costs more to get it one month at a time. He told me it would take an hour or two to correct the way he had dispensed it. It was 5 PM and I had already been sitting there for over an hour so I just took it and left. So because there is this one weirdo who always seems to be on duty whenever I need to pick up my meds, I don't get them there any more. He gets zero stars, but since EVERYBODY ELSE there seems normal, I'm excluding him from my rating. In general my experience here has been that they are overburdened, but the doctor I have dealt with, while rushed, at least gets me the meds I need (thyroid and diabetes) without arguing with me (last doc I went to for thyroid meds tried to force me to change them). There is a review here from a mother who was just shit on by her kid's doctor. 105 is a dangerously high fever and any doc who suggests otherwise is a dangerously stupid doctor. So you might want to avoid that guy assuming he's still there. Personally I just need somebody to give me prescriptions for the totally non-recreational meds I need without charging me $200 for the office visit. As for "ethnic" issues, y'all need to stop being freakin' bigots. I guess a lot of the people there may be Hispanic, I didn't count and barely notice that kind of thing anyway. I am DEFINITELY NOT Hispanic, I have a clearly non-Hispanic name, and being or not being Hispanic has never ever even remotely been an issue. The one jackass there in the pharmacy seems like an average chubby white guy to me. He could be Hispanic, who knows. Whatever ethnic background anybody there might hail from, it's never been an issue or even noticeable - unless you're a bigot who assumes all brown people MUST be HIspanic or Latino or A Dirty Mexican or some other stupidity. Nobody's being discriminated against there because they're not Hispanic/Latino/a. There's a big difference between being discriminated AGAINST and not getting the preferential treatment you think you deserve for being born a paleskin. Get over it.
