Was seen at Northern Nevada later in the evening that morning I had gone to Saint Mary's, which I was very unhappy with Dgave me an antibiotic for some pain in the stomach area and belly button which had some pus and a little fluid coming out. I also have a pain in my right groin area lower back, which could radiate from who knows where but St. Mary's just sent me out with an antibiotic no further test for MRI or CT so later that evening still does not feel good northern about it. I was very happy with the staff that night from the receptionist to the door watchmen was friendly and welcoming the doctor on call. She was very attentive and listened and addressed the problem right away order the CT and bloodwork thank you Jesus everything came out pretty normal other than there is an abdominal tear in the belly button area which I will further seek treatment with future doctors need it but the experience I had was great for the most part, they were fast was a slow night so that explains while I was in so fast, but they were very caring attentive and took the time to answer questions. Bring us some water bring us some towels and overall I give them a four star and I will follow up for further treatment with other doctors, I will not go back to St. Mary's again.! read more

This location of the Northern Nevada ER was an absolutely horrible experience. My husband Was having a very painful experience with a Kidney stone. His pain levels escalated to a level 10 immediately after arriving at the location at Maeann and Mccarren here in reno around 5pm. We were put in a room in the front part of this facility where we could clearly see people working. I kept asking when he would be seen, I told them he was in horrible pain. I watched the so called nurses ignore us Intentionally, they were eating, avoiding eye contact etc. Never once did they show compassion. The Doctor sat at his computer eating and apparently we had shown up at a very inconvenient time shift change, however, from what i could see all of the other cubicles were empty! They were not busy, but they were discustingly uninterested in helping Erik. They finally sent someone in 3 hours after we arrived to administer a pain med but, she forgot to hook the med up to his IV. When I went out saying what the heck, my husband is writhing in pain and you all are doing your best to ignore his situation. They sent a security guard to make tell me to go sit down and wait. We were there 6 hours. This was in February 2026, we just received a billing stating my husband had no insurance coverage for that visit. We provided them with all of the information for insurance Etc. This management sucks ass!! read more

It's nice to have a free-standing ER where you may be seen sooner than going to an ER at a larger hospital, however, in our case, it was not. We checked in around 9 pm and left around 5:30 am. I can't get into what brought us to this ER, I can say that it is not the staff's fault we were sitting there all night. Northern Nevada ER, if you are going to offer certain things like X-ray or Ultrasound, then you might want to actually have those things readily available and not leave patient waiting for hours to get them. Apparently getting a report from radiology was part of the problem. I went to lemmon valley ER about 6 AM having shortness of breath, dizziness. Nausea, and slight chest and back pain. Been getting progressively worse amd then the slight back and chest pain started. The nurse, was absolutely the rudest person I have ever met. If she walked any slower she would have been moving backward. No empathy or compassion, no concern. No sense of urgency. NOTHING!!! the way she treated me as if I were a bother. I asked if there was a problem. She said no. Then why are you being so rude to me This created a whole different level of attitude when I asked that. So I called her a rude bitch and I left. Drove to Renown. Got me right in to the ER. after about thirty minutes in the ER. I was admitted to the hospital Yes, it is serious. They were kind, sympathetic, and professional. They naturally collaborated as though this was their habit. The nurse today was plain flat rude. I went home Back a couple years, my doc sent me thrre for acct scan cause he thought I was having a heart attack. When I got there, they told me they couldn't see be because they had too many Covid patients When I went there today, I had web searched urgent cares and it said NNV ON McCarran. So the nurse had me stand on the scale and asks why I'm there. I showed her my Covid test - very positive. Her response " so what do you want us to do about it. This is an ER, NOT urgent care, and that's clearly marked on the building" I picked up my purse, showed her the phone and she said something to the effect "I'm a nurse. That's not my job." I came here the other day because I was having serious health issues & was hoping to get some answers & help. Upon arriving, I got into a room right away. That was the probably the only good that came from visiting this place. Everyone working there was super passive aggressive for no reason. I was not completely coherent, so my mom was there to advocate for me. She wasn't being rude or giving attitude. Anytime she asked them something, they responded with a lot of sass. They responded with things like "we know how to do our job". Mind you, she never once tried to tell them how to do their job. My mom was just concerned for my well-being. When the doctor came in to talk to us, he kept saying "I think" statements. I didn't feel like he was confident in what he was saying. Overall it felt like they didn't want to help me, and was just trying to rush us out. I feel like I barely got any help or answers here. Terrible, i have been here twice. the first time the front desk practically refused service i was to sick to argue and left but i still went back yesterday with my 4 year old who had been sick for running a feever for 3 days and vomiting and when i told them what was going on the assistant said 100 is not really a fever when he took her temp it was 103.4 they litterly did nothing untill i asked if they can give her some medicine they did not offer any type of test for strep/flu covid. On 12/23 I had the unfortunate need to go to the ER. My pulse was abnormally high and wasn't going down, even at rest. I checked my UHC "find a doctor" and was directed here. Initially, I was very impressed - I was in a bed and being assessed by a nurse within ten minutes of arrival. They performed an EKG, chest xray, drew blood, and gave me one liter of IV saline. I was discharged two hours after arrival. The diagnosis- dehydration after having strep throat a week prior. It ended up being a misdiagnosis, and my pulse was back up to 120bpm an hour after I got home, but that's besides the point. You may be wondering, what is the point? The bill for my two hours at this ER - $14,000. FOURTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS Yes, fourteen thousand dollars for an EKG, chest xray, blood work, and one liter of saline. After United Healthcare's coverage, I still owe nearly $1200. read more

we are traveling due to work and my husband's sugar was really high and we are our of his medicine.... we came to the er at mccarran nw and were treated with so much compassion and care. the staff here go over and beyond to help, they actually had me in tears from the kindness they showed my husband. money is really tight right now and they even did the research define clinics and other doctors that we could go to that wouldn't cost us more than we can afford. long story short.... out of all states we have been to this by far is the best medical facility emergency room we have ever been to. the er at mccarran nw is the best to come to if you need help. we highly recommend coming here for medical help. read more

I was seen today by Andrew Sheets and my nurse was Christina and I felt absolutely heard and was taken care of, my nurse ‍ Christina went above and beyond to make me feel so comfortable and didn't feel any judgment from anyone I'm thankful I can come here and I always bring my kiddos in too and were always treated kindly and getting out faster than a normal ER hospital. This has just become our go to ER for any family emergency medical issues. We got right in and Kristy, our ER Tech, was wonderful. We met Dr Gregory who listened ( I emphasize "listened", a rare quality in my experience of ER docs lately) and he ordered a CT scan and X-ray. Meanwhile Kristy started an IV, got him comfortable, and set for testing. The facility is new and state of the art with large comfortable patient rooms in the ER. You immediately feel calmer and certain that you will be taken care of based on the attitude and behavior of the staff. They are courteous, compassionate, and focused on finding answers to establish an individual plan of care. read more

Strictly an ER location that is a nice facility with a decent staff. They can do labs and many imaging options (except MRI). I went 2/5 with lower back pain & got through initial triage quickly and into a room where they took my vitals and sent in the Dr. The Dr did an initial exam and order a cat scan (done on site). After the Dr read the cat scan report I was told I had a bulging disc. I was given an injection, a Valium and anti inflammatory tablet. The Dr order 7 days methocarbomal and gave me a PT slip for 2x per week for 4 weeks. I was given discharge papers and sent home. After I got home I decided to contact a Pain Management Dr (Nairizi) who took care of me before and after my previous 3 back surgeries (2011-2016). The first thing after my initial information was "what did they give you or prescribe at the ER room"? Much to my surprise it was not in my discharge papers! I called the ER room back and asked for the information on what they administered (the care was adequate) and was told they don't put it on the discharge papers (and that no ER puts it on your paperwork) and if I wanted to know I had to fill out a medical form and go to their medical records department to get that information. I can't tell you how enraged I was at this unreasonable response. I eventually escalated within the ER room and a nurse contact was able to spell the name of the anti inflammatory injection I received, fully letting me know he could get into a lot of trouble for sharing this information. I call bullshit on their comment about other ERs not noting medications administered during your stay. They are not prepared for overnight admissions and have to send you to other hospitals if you require non immediate care. I'm sorry, I shared this information with Dr. Nairizi (Pain Management UC) and he was just as flabbergasted as I was at the lack of information I was given about my care. He said by law they are required to have it on your discharge papers. I did share with him that I had called the two locations for Physical Therapy on the slip that was given to me by Dr. Travis at the ER and the earliest they could get me in was the end of March. I also shared with Dr. Nairizi that I never attended PT for a bulging disc before but only attended PT after my surgeries. He agreed that the PT would probably only aggravate what was going on in my back. I have a follow up appointment with the pain management doctor and also contacted Dr. Song's office who is my previous neurosurgeon as a follow up as well. read more

Went in around 11:30pm to get assistance for vomiting after suffering chills for an hour or more. Paramedics suggested I get help at this ER. After waiting an hour in a brightly lit and very loud waiting room ( TV ) with no one else waiting we decided to leave. We never saw any medical personnel. I was never briefly assessed for my medical issues. We will never return. read more

Every worker there just plays games on there phone and the "doctors" if that's what they really are(I don't believe it) we're beyond rude and ignored me for 45 mins just to take a personal call when I was in extreme pain. *THIS IS FOR THE E.R ALONG PYRAMID HIGHWAY HEADED TOWARDS SPANISH SPRINGS AREA. NOT THE VISTA LOCATION* Had an awful experience at the ER back in November of 2024, writing this now as the issue has taken months of fighting back n forth to be dealt with. I showed up for migraine issues and the doc on duty provided with what is called a "migraine cocktail" essentially a combination of a few different medications to help relieve the migraine. Once given this cocktail via i.v I immediately started having an allergic reaction where I looked restless, body moving uncontrollably and seemed like I was on some heavy duty drugs. I knew right away this wasn't a normal feeling. My dad called in the nurse and she knew it wasn't okay right away so she called in the doc who ordered the 'migraine cocktail'. The doctor told us that two other patients of his had experienced the same issues as I was having from the same batch of medications so they probably were a bad batch of them. All the doctor said they'd do for me prior to waking up was note my chart of possible allergic reaction to a medication and apologized. You would think that after 2 previous patients having the same issue you'd do something about it and not continue to give it to patients until something disastrous finally happens to one of them. After about 20 minutes of dealing with this back and forth as what to do, they finally suggested adding Benadryl to the i.v to put me to sleep. I was borderline incoherent so they kept asking me for consent and I just told them to make the call as I couldn't rationalize thoughts. A few minutes after receiving the Benadryl I fell asleep and when I woke up around an hour later I didn't know where I was and could barely remember what happened. After this they tell me and my father we are good to leave etc. Fast forward throughout the next 2-3 weeks I am feeling like a zombie every single day and my thoughts are very clouded and I still have the same but a more mild case of the symptoms I was experiencing in the E.R. To this day I now struggle with the same restlessness and physical anxiety I experienced that day. I never had such feeling prior to being given that medication. Over the next 3-6 months I have the emergency billing department leaving me voicemails and sending me letters to pay for the bill on a weekly basis. I was harassed several times about paying this bill and was being threated every time to go to collections and have them ding my credit. During those months I tried several times to get ahold of somewhere who worked for Northern Nevada in that department to let them know of my terrible experience and I was not going to be paying for the $22.25 charge that they DESPERATELY needed me to pay. Finally after dozens of calls I finally got ahold of someone who runs the E.R of some sort and we had a conversation about the experience. He took the side of the doctor and said the doctor never reported the incident and that there were no records of such an experience. When I asked what they could do to help with my issue he was just silent on the phone. We then went back and forth about arguing as to why they would continue to give someone medications that other patients had issues with. He told me verbatim "those are normal symptoms of a migraine cocktail". NORMAL SYMPTOMS IS LOOKING AND FEELING LIKE A DOWNTOWN CRACKHEAD REALLY?! I said that exactly to him and again he went silent. It is really unfortunate to know that not only was my issue not taken seriously, but clearly the other two patients probably experienced the same thing. Not sure where either this doctor or manager earned their degrees and learned the manners from, but both could use another lesson for the negligence and appalling audacity that I received both times. You will never again under ANY circumstances with my own free will, find me going back to that E.R. Truly truly a disappointment. Thanks for reading. read more

Thrice we have been to this facility and thrice we were taken care of by great staff. The doctors were nice and friendly and were not rushing you out. They ordered the necessary tests and imaging needed to determine what was wrong. The staff were also very caring and knowledgeable. I really like the fact that it's closer to where I live and don't have that far to drive. There's no wait time at all and if there was, it was very minimal. read more

I have to agree with all the negative reviews unfortunately. I came in extremely sick, was not taken seriously by the one nurse in particular. Then they send my medicine to the wrong pharmacy even though the correct pharmacy was provided to them three times during the visit. On a side note they also screwed up where my son's medicine was sent a few days prior. I reached out to have the medicine sent to the right pharmacy and they refused it. My mom even went in person and they were very rude to her. If you're sick save yourself the time and headache and find an actual ER that fixes their screw ups and will take you seriously. read more

I had always thought this was just an urgent care, but a friend recently recommended it to me as an ER option. This is very close to where I live and is convenient to access. It is much less stressful going to a smaller freestanding ER than a busy ER located within a medical hospital. They got me right in with a minimal wait. Dr. Howell was a great listener and was very thorough in explaining things to me. They have several labs and imaging devices on site such as blood work, urine testing, xrays, EKGs, and CT scanning. The doctor ordered many tests to help find the cause of my symptoms which was very helpful for peace of mind. The only downside is how long you have to wait for the results of these tests. It was about 1 to 1.5 hours to obtain results each time a new test was ordered. However, the rooms offer a calm and comfortable place to wait. And I am quite certain the wait at a regular ER would've been much longer. This was a great place to come that felt more like an urgent care but has the capabilities of an ER. I will definitely come back if I need medical care in the future. read more

My wife dislocated her elbow and they said they could reset it. We sat in an empty ER for 6 hours while the inept doctor made phone calls trying to learn how to set a dislocated elbow. Two months later we got a $14,031 bill. Three months after that we got another $3603 bill and 4 months after that we got another $37 bill. Note: the last time she dislocated her elbow it took the doctor (at a different hospital) 15 minutes to evaluate at reset it. And they only charged $400! Northern Nevada ER, although state of the art, is staffed by unqualified personnel and they charge an astronomical amount... apparently trying to fully pay off their new building in 5 years. read more

I thought this ER would be great- amazing location, brand new facility but I was very wrong. The wait time is always 2-3 minutes which is suspicious but I figured I would give it a try. Dr. Navid Arandi was extremely rude, and wouldn't make eye contact. He barely spoke to me and I had a million questions. The instructions he gave were not clear leaving me extremely puzzled. He was so unprofessional and definitely doesn't have any personal or social skills. He acted as if he was in a crazy rush even though the ER was empty and he would just go sit back down at his desk. I would not recommend this ER. Go somewhere else!!!!! read more

It's definitely my #1 choice in Washoe County! I discovered this ER facility a little over 2 years ago. Since then, my daughter & myself have made 6 visits! While we have had varying experiences, I do highly recommend this extension of Northern Nevada Medical Center, the ER at McCarren NW. The Great: Intake has always been expeditious. The difference between this ER and two others I have experienced in town is incredible! * If no one is immediately available at the front counter, there is a bell available to use. The Good: All visits have been overall effective & efficient. I believe it was our second visit for my daughter, the Dr with a first name Brandon ( can't recall last name) was exceptional. He was kind, considerate, and most importantly, accurate! He asked my daughter precise questions and was hands-on in an appropriate & not awkward manner. He was able to relate her symptoms to his personal experience and recognized her diagnosis right away . This was especially impressive as her condition was not common for her age. My daughter ended up needing surgery for an ailment called umbilical granuloma, which is typically only found in infants. My daughter was 17 years old at the time. Also, the umbilical granuloma often does not require surgery. However, in her case, it did, and the Dr recognized & diagnosed that as well. He was considerate of her comfort and very polite to us both. That was an A+ experience! Multiple visits in-between our 1st and latest visits, all have been fair & effective experiences. We were educated & informed of our treatments almost every time. My latest visit, I requested not to run an IV ( due to personal medical reasoning). The Dr compromised the IV and explained he'd be willing to run the tests, although it might not be as effective. I highly appreciate being given options and explanations for my care. The less the good: After the granuloma diagnosis, my daughter received surgery ( through a different hospital) unfortunately the 1st surgery did not go as well as needed, thus a short time after she was experiencing further pains & symptoms and I brought her back to the ER. This Dr ( I do not recall his name) was far less familiar with her diagnosis and far less compassionate. He actually seemed rather put off by our visit ( the ER was nearly empty). He asked me repeatedly what I wanted to do and what I was expecting. Personally, I am not in the medical field. Therefore, I am not experienced with procedures or protocols in any way. Upon leaving both my daughter & I felt he thought I was seeking pain medication for my daughter. While that was one perception given to her during her 1st visit for the same issue, I did not know if that would be an effective solution at that time, post surgery. I did not ask for medication, I did not ask for anything other than for her surgical site to be assessed. I was confused that the Dr would repeatedly ask me what I wanted him to do. If I had that answer, I would of fixed the problem myself! In short, my daughter had to have a second surgery to eliminate the problem. That visit was most definitely my least preferred experience and not typical behaviors for the team at this establishment. I've decided that everyone has bad days and we'll leave it at that. My last visit was merely a follow-up from my previous visit that was due to a major car accident. Luckily, I sustained fewer injuries than would be expected and was able to heal quickly. I revisited the ER only to obtain a release form and was unprofessionally told they are not able to do that. In conclusion, although my experiences have not 100% every time, I do believe this ER facility provides the best overall care and consideration. If you factor in how absolutely time efficient they have consistently been, I believe this ER is far better than Renos other options. I have, and will continue to recommend this ER facility to my family & friends. I hope this ER is able to maintain all the benefits and superior staff they currently provide, as well as continue to grow and thrive for Reno's community. My Mom was very sick and needed emergency care and we took her to this phenomenal place. No waiting, got right in nurses and doctors were right there helping and doing all they could all the while telling us what they were doing and why and what to expect. Best hospital ER and I have been to many with other friends and family. Take your loved ones here, it's their best chance, these people are here to help. They could teach other hospitals about urgent and emergency care. So grateful to have found this little piece of heaven in Such a hellish and sometimes uncaring world. What a gem.
