Went to showroom and picked a door and options and thet came out to measure opening promptly. Personnel were polite and straightforward. I had a couple of other glass installers come out and give estimates but i didnt get a warm-fuzzy on the install process. I was concerned about possible penetration of the waterproof membrane curbing for the shower and Falmouth Glass gave me most thorough explanation of the process and assuring me the curbing waterproofing would not be compromised. The install went smoothly except i noticed the door hinge was slightly crooked. I called and a couple of (polite) guys returned promptly and straightened the hinge. Door looks great and operates smoothly.

He said that they don't sell that part but they always have them in with the discarded motors and he would look for me. I told him I liked to recycle, and he said they did too! Great!! He leaves and 15 minutes later calls me to say he can't find one and if that's the case I will have to replace the motor at $900. I found that suspicious since it had only been 15 minutes and he was probably still driving, but I said I was patient and to keep looking. He told me he would and would get back to me the next week. The very next morning I get a call from a different guy saying he will be coming out between 2-5. I excitedly said "you found the part!". He said they did not and the company does not sell that replacement part. So I asked what his purpose of coming out was and he said he had a motor loaded and was going to install. I then tell him that I feel like I am being scammed since the day before the guy said he would be looking for it. And now they've skipped straight to needing a motor replacement for an already working motor. I asked if I could buy the part online and he said I could try. I searched for all of 2 minutes and found it for $3 on preferred doors llc. Called back and spoke to a woman to tell her that I found the part for $3, so it would be crazy replace the motor for $900! She said she would cancel the appointment and told me to let them know when the part arrived. Yesterday the part came and I immediately called them to schedule. The same woman answered the phone and said she spoke to the manager/owner and he's not going to install anything that's not theirs. When I asked to speak to the owner, she told me he was gone for the weekend and wouldn't be back until Tuesday. As I was asking if I could leave a message for him, she cut me off to say "have a good day, buh bye" then hung up on me. Incredibly rude and dismissive. He came out and charged $975 for less than 5 minutes of work with a sledgehammer. If I wanted the section replaced, he wanted $1500. When I complained he said he was so expensive because he was a "professional". He also wanted $150 each for 10 new rollers. I declined and called Overhead Door who I trusted and used in the past. They came right out and replaced the section of track, placed all 10 rollers and programmed my two cars to open my garage door. All these services were $310.00! The guys they sent were polite and fast and a delight to work with. They were the real professionals. I love OVERHEAD DOOR and will not call anyone else in the future. As for Daniel Perets, I feel he took advantage of me in a crisis. I am 77 years old and this is shameful behavior on his part.

It is notoriously difficult to hire good contractors on the Outer Cape and with my own work going on I wanted to be able to rely on them in my absence. In my full time job on the west coast I project manage construction sites and have supervised more than 200 home renovations. I am taking my General Contractor-B test later this year. I am telling you these things so that you understand that I am not just some whiny homeowner; I work with contractors and handymen on a daily basis and I am well known and highly respected in my field. The treatment I have received from the unprofessional staff at Muto turned me into a raving lunatic sending all capital, bolded, highlighted emails as I tried to do something, ANYTHING, to get them to respond to me and fix the problem. Their communication is absolutely terrible on all aspects of their work. They did a roof for me in Wellfleet several years ago and failed to complete one portion; it took many, many emails and calls from me to finally get the unfinished portion that they just left with tar paper completed 9 months later. Then they did a partial roof at my mother's house in Truro, and when I called them to complete the second section of roof, they quoted me on a total roof replacement. It is reasonable to say that Dillon there quoting perhaps did not know they had just been hired about 18 months earlier, but what is NOT reasonable is that he couldn't look at the roof (since he was physically there) and be able to see half of it was brand new. I should have stopped hiring them at that point, but again I was hoping that a large general contractor firm would ultimately perform better than hiring small and sometimes unreliable individual contractors. I was wrong. Last summer I hired them to replace an exterior window, an exterior door, and build an outdoor shower. Their first installation of the exterior shower did not follow the plan at all and dangerously included a bathroom casement window (crank open) INSIDE the outdoor shower where naked people could hit their head, not to mention be viewed by anyone inside the bathroom. I was sorry to make them re-do it but I had to make them re-do the outdoor shower since the installation not only had no privacy, but was also dangerous. They were not happy about it but they did it. Again, that was not the original plan and their site supervisor should have been on top of it before the mistake ever happened. The final straw was this summer because the door they installed just last summer has a bent piston and is already corroding. I reached out to them more than a DOZEN times via email and telephone and was finally told to send a photo of the serial number on the door. I did that, and it has been months without a reply despite my repeated inquiries. They finally told me today that the very expensive Anderson door they THEY CHOSE is not suited for a coastal environment and I will just need to keep replacing it periodically. SO WHY DID THEY INSTALL IT IN A COASTAL ENVIRONMENT???? And why did they take months and months to respond? This is a general contractor firm. Employees should respond to emails within 1 business day, 2 at the most, even if all they say is that your message has been received and they will respond as soon as possible They don't even do that; they just ghost you like a teenager if something is wrong. I can't say enough bad things about Muto and I wish I had not given them over $30,000 of my money the past few years.
