I have had the hardest time finding a good stylist since moving to Michigan, but here we are! Aimee was so great. At one point I went a year without a haircut because I didn't want to have another bad experience. Well, I finally broke down and got a cut (somewhere else). It did not go well. Thank goodness for Aimee! She fixed the butcher job I had from another place and gave me a cute style. She had great advice about using product, including a new product I had never used before (texturizing powder). She really knows what she is doing. One of my problems is that I struggle verbalized what I want. She was able to give me exactly what I wanted, and she has a bit of a freestyle way about fixing hair. I felt like no one else is walking the streets with my exact haircut. read more

If you want to read about scheduling problems at Renew S&S, please refer to my previous review. As promised, here is my updated review status post visit. As you see, no change in star rating. Renew S&S is housed in an office building, but the spa/salon space is a cutely decorated and welcome surprise in a place you might not expect it! I ultimately scheduled a pedicure for 4:30pm. I was not called back for my service until 4:59. I always find this incredibly rude. The client is always to call if running late, but your time is deemed not as valuable when the spa/salon does not extend you the same courtesy. Honestly, I wanted to leave and give them a piece of my mind out the door, but since I had such difficulty making an appointment and had a gift card to use (knowing that I would never return if I left now), I stayed. The pedicure was below average and I certainly have had better at walk-in nail salons. The facility did seem very clean, though. At the end of the appointment, I was given a discount for the long wait, which was a welcome surprise. Overall, I think Renew greatly suffers from lack of professional with very so-so service. I have no intention of returning. read more

This is my local salon of choice, and I tried a few when I moved here. Heather just recently dyed my hair back to its natural color and killed it. I'm really happy. Heather always makes me feel at home and the owner seems nice too. Side note: I'm really sensitive to chemicals and smells and it does not smell bad to me in there for a salon at all. read more

Terrible service. 415 appointment, showed up 5 minutes early & checked in, decided to leave at 445 when I still had not been called back, no explanation as to what was going on or when I would get my hair cut. Yesterday I saw Katrina for a hot stone massage- oh my goodness it was probably one of the best massages I've ever had. She actually FIXES things- doesn't just give you a generic rub-down! It is definitely worth it when you feel a million times better afterward! The salon and spa was very nice as well! It's clear that lots of detail and personal touches went into this place. I booked 3 appointments for my daughters at the same time for hair cuts. I was quoted $25 per child for my 9,11 and 14 year old. My 2 daughters were taken on time. My third daughter was taken 35 minutes late and that was after I went to the front desk 3 times to ask what the delay was. I also got quite the surprise when I went to pay and found out I was charged $50, $50 and $35 for their hair cuts. The useless receptionist said it was "maybe because they had a lot of hair?" I would expect to be notified before the hair cut if I was going to be charged double read more

Heather M really knows hair color! I have a short pixie with long bangs and didn't like my current dark sides and back with a light highlights on top. After a consultation with Heather, she recommended an Aveda product that would bring my highlights closer to my base color but with a wonderful coppery tone. I am really happy with this Salon. I have been going here since summer 2012 and love it. I have thick, slick hair and Catie Hum does a great job on color and cuts. As for price, they are average for a salon. You are looking at $100+ for a cut and color. They are a little harder to find since their building faces away from the rest of the shopping center but they are helpful with giving you directions. read more

Best. Pedicure. Ever!!! I waited a week to write my review to make sure I really was satisfied...I am!!!! I took my bestie to the salon for birthday Pedis and from the friendly welcome and eager staff, I knew she had chosen the right spa! Renew is a full service salon and they pamper their clients!! Ours was a private room with two awesome and professional technicians; Sharon and Pam. The room was well appointed and complete with complimentary wine! There's nothing better than a massage chair and top of the line pedi! We were both excited about the care and friendliness of the ladies and staff in general. I have never had such a fantastic pedicure. I have always left a salon with rough feet that were dried out as soon as the lotion soaked in (why I generally don't get a pedi). For the first time ever, my feet are as soft and smooth as a baby's butt!!! A week later, I am still rubbing them in disbelief!!! Who would have thought tha in the middle of winter I would have such an awesome experience. Although the $40 pedi is a little pricey, it was worth the extra to have such a great, lasting experience! *If anyone is thinking about what to buy me for my next birthday... ;) read more

A close family member has been raving about Jeffrey and his Renew team. I had horrible Covid Box-Dye color issues. Horrible as in my last three home root touch-ups were three different colors by three different companies. Yes. That horrible. So I requested an appointment and crossed my fingers Jeffrey wouldn't run screaming. I was VERY insecure and self-conscious before my appointment. But the moment I stepped into Renew I felt welcomed, safe, and (did not see this coming after 2020) RELAXED! Jeffrey, and every team member I interacted with was warm, genuinely concerned about my well-being, crazy talented, and certifiably gifted in spades, (I'm looking at you Nicole, Amber, Heather, and of course, Jeffrey). The Covid protocols I experienced were above and beyond-which helped me feel safe, and able to actually relax and enjoy the experience. And what an experience it was! The hype is real! Jeffrey is a treasure! His Team is top-notch, and the space he has created made me feel like I was worthy and deserved to feel good about myself again. It's been a tough pandemic for everyone. And my hair looks so amazing! When Jeffrey turned the chair around I honestly cried. Such total happiness and feeling good about ME-it's been a while. I drive 45-minutes to get to Renew Salon & Spa! Kat always gives me a superior cut with NO surprises! I have had facials, pedicures and eyebrow waxing at Renew and always have had a great experience. I have to say this is the friendliest salon I have been to, and they bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable. Clean and bright atmosphere, easy parking. For the past 2 months I have been buying their Aveda hair and face products and have been really pleased with the results. I won't be going back to "store brands"! read more

Where to begin... Booking was easy enough or so I thought I spoke with Amber who notified me that I would need to have my bridesmaids in at 10:30 am and myself in at 11:30 am the day of my wedding in order to have everyone done by 1 pm and that I would be working with Jeffery. I also booked a trial for hair and makeup for the weekend before my wedding for 1:45 pm. A few days later I received a called asking if I could change my trial appointment to earlier in the day which I had no problem with and agreed to change. However, the receptionist notified me that my appointment was with Nikkie not mentioning the switch at all. So the trial went well enough, leaving very pleased with my hair and identifying some very necessary changes to my makeup. So three days before my wedding my MOH contacted to see if she could request the other makeup artist since she found out that my makeup artist is primarily an esthetician while the other makeup artist does that full time. She was notified that our appointment was at 9 am Saturday morning. After multiple calls back and forth they agreed to take us at the original time scheduled. Out of habit for my job, I take notes each time I speak with someone and while the receptionist, Amber, said she had no idea who booked it to my MOH it was her who had given me the times. That brings us to the wedding day...We arrived to muffins and mimosas which was very nice, but when booking, I was very clear that we needed to be done by 1 pm which I was ensured that we would be able to do in that time frame. We were done an hour late, my lashes were literally glued together and had to be fixed, I had makeup caked under my eyes, and I had to go back and forth to a dimly lit mirror (there is no natural light in the room they do makeup) to see even get anywhere near what I requested from the makeup artist. To give credit where it is due, the makeup artist was very kind and encouraging but was clearly distracted by her other appointments coming in, nor is make up her primary role. The only saving grace in this was Taryn who detached my lashes from one another and quickly fixed my cakiness. I do have to note that the other hair stylist did a great job on my bridesmaid's hair and they were both really pleased with the outcome. My hair was given far less attention than at the trial and at this point, I just wanted to leave. Come to find out, the hair stylist had to redo one of my girls because she didn't listen to what she wanted. Oh, they also had absolutely no idea how to ring anything up and had to spend more time waiting around. So I ended up missing an hour of our pictures and overall so incredibly stressed and dissatisfied with this place. There is no communication with their clients, staff, or anyone. Had anyone there told me I was switching stylists, needed to change the time, or anything else I would have been fine with the change but they didn't. There were more little things but these were the biggest that impacted my wedding. Moral of the story is don't go here, especially for a wedding. You will leave in tears and not the happy kind. read more

I enjoyed Jeffery as a person and he gave me a good enough haircut (with one exception), BUT it was NOT the haircut I asked for, which set me back 6 months. The first thing out of my mouth before the cut was "I love the sides and back exactly as they are, just trim them." Sides and back - not preserved at all, very different from when I entered the shop. The second important thing to me was "NOT wispy", which I said loud and clear- guess what? EXTREMELY wispy. The last strike was my hair was a 1/2 inch longer on one side than the other. I had to spend the gas money to go back to the salon & get the sides evened up. Jeffrey wasn't in yet, but a very pleasant young woman evened it up for me quite willingly and asked out of curiosity, "Did you want it this wispy?" I hadn't mentioned my discontent except for the length difference, so you know it had to be extremely wispy for her to ask. So, if you treasure a hair stylist who will LISTEN to you and give you want you want, Jeffrey is not for you. If you want to be surprised (and possibly lopsided) you might be very happy. Last week it was 2 months since the cut, two months of hair tucked behind my ears (liked the top). I risked trying out a new stylist in another town. She was wonderful - really listened, gave me a GREAT haircut in the direction I want to go (and charged $10 less for the cut than Jeffery). She said it will be another 4 months to get past all the wispy Jeffery put into the previous cut. This is the hard part about a cut that is not a disaster, but totally ignores what you're going for. read more

I used to go here for facials and sometimes waxing. Ashley was GREAT!!! The reason for my one star is that some of the staff are unprofessional - on a couple of occasions I heard one of the hairdressers (I think he was an owner?) speaking very rudely about some of their employees and clients and gossiping about their hair and laughing at some customer's appearances. I was disgusted that this was happening right in front of other customers! I was really sad to hear that the girl I used to go see (Ashley) was no longer there, but then I found out she just moved to Luminosity down the street! I highly recommend Ashley (at luminosity now), but can't recommend Renew anymore. read more

I just got back from a haircut and eyebrow wax today and I had a really great experience! I had Kat as my stylist and she did exactly what I had envisioned for both my eyebrows and my hair cut. She is friendly, personable, and very talented. I have about the most unshapely eyebrows a person could have yet she was able to shape them into lovely high arches. For my hair, I brought in a picture of how I wanted it but also said that I did not want to lose too much of the length. She totally nailed it and I am thrilled! read more

I recently had an appt for a cut and color with Tara H. I had recently had a bad haircut and color...my hair had super choppy layers and the highlights I got elsewhere were practically orange. So, I was hopeful Tara could work a miracle, and she delivered! I left with a great haircut, my layers were blended without losing a lot of length, and she did an all over color with natural looking highlights. I was so happy with what she did and had a great experience! The salon is clean, everyone was very friendly. Pricing was reasonable. I will definitely be going back and will suggest this salon to my friends. read more

This is only my second time to the salon. Yesterday I went to have a shellac manicure and also a pedicure. I saw Pam. LOVE HER!!!! I had the best experience. She was great from personality to skill. I also didn't mind paying a little more than other places. Why? I felt like it was clean and she was very helpful on how to keep my nails best. I will definitely be back. Thanks Pam, love my nails! I bought a Groupon for a Brazilian wax. I went in for my first one last week and it was extremely painful and it did take a long time. Luckily, the pain only lasted as long as the waxing process. I was very happy with the results and the woman who did the wax (Brittany) was awesome and made me very comfortable. I'm going back for my second one next month. :) read more
