After having gone to another Physical Therapy Clinic for several MONTHS and having applied myself as diligently as possible, my condition (very serious foot problems) regressed back to almost square one/ zero progress. This happened within just a few days of me concluding therapy. I was completely demoralized and so I prayed. I needed to get well; I needed to be able to WALK. Not long after, I met Chris McDougall who runs Renew Physical Therapy in Covington, LA. Without knowing he was a physical therapist we got to talking and I told him I need to find a TOP QUALITY physical therapist who could and would think OUTSIDE OF THE BOX. He stated, "You are looking at him." One thing led to the next and in spite of my military medical insurance's complete lack of cooperation, Renew worked with me, got me seen, and got me fixed. The Army had seriously botched double major foot reconstruction surgery and I was left literally limping/ a functional cripple. The bottom line is this: Chris McDougall and Renew DO think outside of the box. They are innovative, smart, cutting edge, professional, caring, AND they have a great sense of humor. Chris is as smart as it gets, and for that reason I fought hard to get to see him. It was well worth it. If it hadn't been for Chris McDougall and Renew, I might still be basically crippled. I've been working in the world of therapy for the past 15 years and I must say, that this clinic gives top notch care to their clients. If you want to see faster than average results to your recovery time, than you need to meet this group of excellent therapists at Renew Physical Therapy. Why fast results? Because they dedicate their time and take pride in their very own hands on approach. This is my second rodeo with Renew. In 2010, I had frozen shoulder in my left arm. I was back at work within 8 weeks. 2013, three years later, I developed frozen shoulder due to rotator cuff and biceps tendon tear. I had surgery and was in a sling for 4 weeks. I am back at work within 12 weeks with just 8 weeks of therapy. That's a pretty quick recovery time for frozen shoulder/rotator cuff/biceps repair. I want to give kudos to my treating therapist, Chris Mcdougall. I give him the most credit for cutting my recovery time in half. He's very knowledgable, focused and tuned into the dysfunction. He is the BEST hands on therapist I know. When I lie on the mat table in prep for subscapular stretch, I am totally relaxed because of the trust I have developed in his most popular, grip technique. It is strong, stable and comfortable like a glove. He takes a firm hold on my joints and stabilizes it in the right position. Once it's stabilized, the pain becomes more forgiving and the end result is pure range! It's just that simple. He has mastered it. Thank you Chris. Oh,I just couldn't wait to write a review on Renew! When I finally realized how old I was going to be, 70 this March, I had a moment!! I had been putting off knee replacement surgery for years-- and realized I didn't have much time for the bucket list and was tired of waddling when I walked which wasn't very far!. I had bilateral knee replacement surgery in October---yes,two at the same time. Needless to say, this was not for the faint of heart-- it was hard beyond hard. When I walked into Renew Rehab I thought omg,I can't do this. Well after Todd my therapist started working with me my pain level was a 10 and as of now FEB 17,2014 I no longer waddle and the pain--- very little. Only when I over do and think I'm able to do everything I haven't been able to do in 35 years and I need to be told to take it easy. They are wonderful at Renew--I love everyone on the staff--always willing to help you with smiles and encouragement. I will cry when I have to leave them--hmm, maybe I won't --I feel so good when I'm there... Mentally and physically! It starts with a great atmosphere, then you realize how knowledgeable your therapist is. Chris is my therapist and treats me very professionally but also adds a comfortable tone while teaching me which muscle groups I am working and why. As I exercise, he and the others continually watch me and correct my form as necessary, and they do it in a positive manner which is not intimidating. The results I have had at Renew are second to none. Karlie is my Physical Therapist and she has rehabbed me through a very tight, painful and hard to move shoulder situation, after my surgery, to a very flexible, painless and stronger shoulder several months later.
