Every once in a while, you come across a particular pool hall complete with a full bar that ends up…read moreholding a special place in your heart. A place where you can just shoot pool for hours, eat above average bar food, and chill. When we lived in El Paso, Clicks Billiards was that place. We weren't sure we'd ever find a place like that again after moving. Then....we found Maxamillians Billiards. And if first impressions mean anything, I believe we've just discovered our new favorite watering hole. One thing I did not expect a pool hall to serve was brick oven pizza. Right off the bat, that's a bonus star in my book! Oh, for those wondering, the pizza was excellent, btw! A thin crust perfectly toasted accompanied by a slightly sweet (but not too sweet) sauce which compliments the cheese brilliantly! Sharing some properties of traditional NY style pizza, I'd certainly give this one a 10 out of 10. The buffalo wings weren't too shabby either. Tangy sauce with just enough kick to be not too spicy. I couldn't find a single thing wrong with these ones; 10 out of 10, would recommend. Now then....when it comes to service, it's surprisingly good. For the most part. We *did* have a slight hiccup in the beginning when I ordered a Cab and the lady brings back what appears to be a Chardonnay. How in the hell you confuse Cabernet for Chardonnay, I'll never know. But I don't hold it against her entirely. Because, believe it or not, this isn't the first place to have done that to me. It's just that I'll never, EVER understand how anyone confuses the two. And I definitely spoke loud enough for her to hear me. Other than that though, service was great. I do wish she had came by a little more often so that I could reorder drinks. But to be honest, it seems as though the servers here are slightly overwhelmed. See, I believe there were maybe 3 attendants for the entire series of pool tables running that evening. You also have to keep in mind this place has a full bar to boot. As in...one you'd expect to see at a regular restaurant. In other words, these servers definitely have their work cut out for them. So naturally, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and exuded a zen-like patience. Plus, she was wicked sweet. So, we gave her a generous tip. Speaking of which, there's also an onsite ATM in the front by the entrance for anyone in need of cash. And a lotto machine to boot. How New England of them. XD For those wondering, this pool hall does have a private parking lot. I know that can be a concern for some when visiting Mass establishments. Though that tends to mostly depend on the city you're visiting. Though wifey and I will always miss Clicks Billiards back in El Paso, Maxamillians Billiards is a more than suitable replacement for us. And I am giving them 5 crispy cheese pizzas baked to perfection in a brick oven out of 5.

Either you have the ingredients or you don't. After a confusing back-and-forth, it became clear they couldn't make it at all, so I settled for a standard dirty martini. It was terrible. No olive oil-infused vodka. No prosciutto & Gorgonzola stuffed olives. Poorly balanced and badly mixed. If you're someone who actually enjoys martinis, you know immediately when the person behind the bar has no idea how to make one. This bartender may be handsome, but the lights were on and nobody was home. He lacked both the personality and the skill to be working behind a cocktail bar. We also ordered the wagyu dumplings. Calling the filling "wagyu" felt generous--it tasted like ordinary ground beef. Any flavor the meat might have had was completely buried under an overly sweet sauce. The wagyu certainly wasn't the star of the dish. Overall, I left more annoyed than impressed. The hosts were fantastic, but the bar experience completely overshadowed the evening. I'll probably give the place another chance because first impressions aren't always the whole story--but I'll absolutely make sure I'm sitting with a different bartender next time.

I wanted to play pool but the day I went the bar was a hosting a foos ball tournament so the pool table was closed. The foos ball tournament was cool but i was sad I couldn't play pool. If you cant stand the smell of cigarettes i don't recommend coming here. But if you dont mind it, its well worth it. I will return for some cheap drinks and hopefully pool!

First I get there and wait over 30 min for a drink and have to have someone else get it for me and then she goes on and calls me a bitch and that I talk shit even though it is only my third time going there. It was pretty obvious that she was a bit drunk. I for sure will never be going here again and will let everyone know how terrible the employees are. I was told by other people there that she regularly drinks on the job and not to take it personally because she likely had too much to drink that night. Don't know who runs such a terrible place but there needs to be an adult there to watch over the childish employees.

You insouciantly scroll through your Yelp feed, not particularly sure what you have an appetite for because making decisions is about as difficult as adulting. This, ladies and gentlemen, is my wife to a T. Although, she highlighted this place to me and I was instantly hooked - so, I can't complain too much. Now, it isn't clear to us how long this place has been in our midst. But judging from the lack of photos, I'm willing to bet that it's either not yet well known enough or it's a fairly new place. In any case, O'Brien's Sports Bar deserves far more recognition than it's getting at the time of me reviewing this. I've been to plenty of Irish pubs. Some good, some rather meh. I've only tried one meal so far. But based on that, plus the copious menu selection, I can already tell you O'Brien's is possibly the best Irish pub I've tried food from in a long while. I was quite disappointed when they permanently closed down Waxy O'Connor's in Lexington. But I believe O'Brien's will be a more than suitable replacement to satisfy my yearning for Irish cuisine. So, as the intro infers, we ordered take-away via DoorDash, of all things. Which implores me to bring up this caveat: there's a vast difference between ordering from DoorDash versus what's actually available on the O'Brien's menu via their website. Basically, DoorDash represents a severely gutted version of their menu, in my opinion. Certain items, you just can't order from DoorDash...for SOME reason. A few examples include: the seafood chowder, chicken marsala, and pretty much any burger that's more complex than your traditional cheese burger. Not really a ding against the restaurant itself. I'm just ranting here to state that I really hate DoorDash sometimes. They're as overpriced as they are underequipped. /endrant Anywho, I kept things simple this evening and tried the fish n' chips. Upfront, I gotta tell ya....they give you a shitload of fish! Like...at least 10 to 12 ounces (or 6 huge nuggets), if I had to guess. And whilst the fish itself was delicious and meaty, the batter could have benefited from some type of seasoning. Let's just say...this is the type of fish that requires tartar sauce. Oh, speaking of which.. I didn't get any tartar sauce with my order. No idea why. But it's a good thing we always keep some at the house (and it's the fancy kind, too). Now, their chips are like nothing I've ever seen. The best way I could describe them is....well seasoned boomerang fries. Hey, I don't care WHAT shape they are, so long as they're tasty as hell! Overall, the dish gets an 8 out of 10, despite them forgetting the tartar sauce. We've already decided we'll dine in at this place apropos for a date night. I mean, based on our DoorDash experience, it seems clear to us this will be the only way to experience their complete menu. And I've already got my eyes on the aforementioned chowder, chicken marsala, and/or one of their delicious looking burgers. The Brussels Sprouts and Lemon Caper Risotto that came with the salmon was just as exceptional as the salmon, and the street corn and real mashed potatoes that came with my wife's steak tips were also delicious, and of course the steak tips are always good! We have both been talking about our meals since we left the restaurant, both meals were excellent, and the best we have ever had, not that their other meals aren't good, but these 2 plates were top notch. We also enjoyed the Arronchini Balls, would recommend them as an appetizer as well. We love O'Brien's Sports Bar, it is one of our favorite places in downtown Nashua!
