While my family and I visited Atlanta during Hurricane Irma we needed a shelter for Lady Bast (our…read morecat) fast. This place was located near my moms house, so I really ended up choosing them out of convenience. I was concerned because it was a new place, I had no idea about who they were, and anytime you have to board your pet it can be a gamble in a new place. All I could hope for was the best. It's not like our furry friends could tell us if they were mistreated. But, if you know them well enough, you could tell. Boarding fees vary by the weight of your pet. Any pet weighing zero to fifteen pounds costs fifteen dollars. We paid fifteen dollars to board Bast, she was there for five days. It was thee longest five days ever! I called them to check on her and each time they told me she was doing great. What else could they say, right? I had to trust their word and keep it moving. When we picked her up she looked a little shaken up but I could tell almost immediately, she was fine. Bast is a little aggressive with strangers and the worse thing would be for one of these centers associates to react to her aggression and do something hurtful to her. After a few days at home with us we could tell she was back to her normal self and probably forgotten all about us leaving her.

Funny thing, I had done all the rIght things but if I had gone to the vet it would've been less work for me and my grandma dog wouldn't have suffered so long with the itching. Dr. Nicole Aponte and every member of the staff at SMAH have proven over the years to be my greatest ally in the care of my pets. Dr. Aponte is thorough in her examinations and takes the time to explain everything to me. She knows each of my cats by name and remembers their history and frankly this is better than I manage on a daily basis. If I ever have questions or concerns she addresses them in terms I can understand. Over the years she and the whole staff have taught me to administer sub-Q fluids at home (saving tons of money for me and lots of stress for the feline who needed them). They have been a shoulder to cry on when it's time to let one go off to the Bridge. They are, quite simply, they people I trust completely with the pets I love. This place isn't fancy, and located down a drive off Memorial just eat of Hairston (just west of the entrance to the Wells Fargo) you might miss it. The much more fancy, state of the art hospital is located on Sugarloaf Parkway in Snellville and this is just a short drive if things like orthopaedic surgery is needed. My Phoebe had to have knee surgery when she was only 16 months and Dr. Brown did a great job out of Snellville. If you live within 15 miles and don't see this vet you are missing a great opportunity.

Critter Sitters

Janet from Critter Sitters really saved us!…read more If I had imagined the perfect kitty sitter, Janet Green of Critter Sitters surpassed it. She was everything I hoped for in a sitter and more, going above and beyond my most hopeful expectations. She was responsive, dependable, friendly, knowledgeable, flexible and all around wonderful. I can't begin to express what a relief it was to have Janet watching our cats when everything else seemed in chaos. My husband and I were trying to navigate a trip to help my elderly mom after knee replacement surgery (the day before elective surgeries were halted due to COVID-19) and had the trip extended unexpectedly when we realized she needed way more recovery time. When I had to change our first meet and greet due to my flight getting canceled five times (due to the pandemic) she was understanding and accommodating. When I finally got back (for just one day before returning to my mom) Janet listened attentively when I introduced her to our three kitties and when I showed her the medications for our elderly cat, asking great questions. When we were gone she visited our kitties twice a day, every day. She sent the most adorable pictures after every visit so we knew our cats were being looked after, along with detailed text updates and even occasional videos of them playing. Her messages were a ray of sunshine in what was otherwise chaos. If all that weren't enough, she found a better way to give our 19 year old IBD cat his twice daily medication AND she gave him his subcutaneous fluids. Having Janet as our guardian kitty angel was like having an old trusted family friend looking after our cats.

Recently our pet sitter through Critter Sitters retired and we met with our new sitter one time. Everything seemed fine and we were scheduled to go out of town and had confirmed with the new sitter employed by Critter Sitters that everything was in order. Yesterday I asked for clarification about the billing since it seemed substantially higher with the new sitter over what we had paid previously - in response, I have been told that the sitter's schedule has changed and that I should seek care for my animals elsewhere. With little more than a week's notice, this was very unprofessional and disappointing to say the least. I've tried to communicate my experience to the owner of the company but the line has been busy for some time; will update this review if new information becomes available but sadly, I can no longer recommend this business and would seek care for pets elsewhere. Update: the owner responded and while appreciated, I find the way this situation was handled by Critter Sitters very unprofessional. I can include the text conversation for reference as I did not negotiate: I asked a question about a price difference between two different sitters employed by the same company, a difference of over 300 dollars. The only "policy" I see enforced or followed here is poor customer service.

And realized I owe this fantastic person a review. A very long story short, in 2015 I found myself in temporary housing after a move back to Atlanta to start a new job. It was a very difficult situation with two rescue dogs that suffered from anxiety/separation issues. The day prior my daytime pet arrangements had fallen through. I also had work travel imminent. I was in a panic and massively stressed. The same day I called Karen, she showed up to meet me and the two pups. They took to her immediately, even my ultra scared/shy guy who shivered and shook around people. She confidentially handled them, kindly calmed my anxiety over the situation and had it under control. She could double as a therapist!!! The next day while I was at work all went totally fine with their walk. I even received text photos with details of how it went. The pups were happy, I was relieved of stress and life suddenly became simpler. For simplicity sake I've glossed over a very trying and rough time in life. But for Karen and her team it would not have turned out so well. With a world of gratitude and thanks, I HIGHLY recommend.

REF: DOG TRAINING…read more If I could give this place 1,000 stars, I would!! Darrell (the owner) is an excellent dog trainer, and 100% knows what he's talking about! I've been looking for dog trainers for over a year, but a lot of Atlanta dog trainers use e-collars--even for basic training of non-aggressive dogs--which I do not like. Luckily for me, on one of my many trips to Lenora Park, I saw Darrell traininAlarm clock for 130 g a dog. At first, I thought it was his dog because the dog was extremely attentive...and then I saw him give the dog to the owner "for practice"; and the dog wasn't as attentive. After a few words to help the owner realize what she was doing wrong, the dog was attentive and the owner had a huge smile on her face. This was all in a span of 5 minutes so it was amazing to watch!  The following week, I saw Darrell training two more dogs and the same thing happened... To me, it was like magic so I flagged him down to get more information / get his business card.  When I got home, I went to his website and thought his training prices were pretty high, so I didn't immediately reach out. Fast forward two months, my YouTube training videos weren't working (haha :) ) so I organized a group training session with Darrell and we definitely learned a lot. Like they say, "You get what you pay for!!"  Side-note: there was a slight miscommunication with scheduling but Darrell was more than gracious to make it up to us. He offered us a free, 1-hour training session so I was very impressed! But it also made me wonder why a few low ratings complained about Smith Farms' customer service?? Granted, it was only two reviews, so I'll just assume those reviewers had unrealistic demands. Lastly, I will definitely refer more friends to Darrell / Smith Farms dog training, and if I ever need to board my dog, I will definitely try their boarding. I'm also going to try them for grooming, too!

We had a great relationship with our previous daycare location, and I thought it would be a tough act to follow. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Pet's playhouse has been everything Simba and I could want and more! The biggest draw is the hours- 6am to 8pm is perfect when you work 7-7. I'll note that it is literally the only dog daycare in the city of Atlanta that offers these hours, and it's even significantly better priced than the places that have much shorter hours!!! While the location is a bit of a hike from where I live, it's totally worth it. They have plenty of space both indoors and out for the dogs to really run around. Then there's the staff. It's clear that they treat your baby like they treat their own pets. Simba loves going to daycare and gets overjoyed in the mornings when we hop in the car to go there. He often boards there when needed, and it's great to have a place for him to go where he's comfortable and gets all the attention and exercise he needs. Additionally, I have to comment on the training services they offer. Shaun did an awesome job training both dog and owner in the canine good citizen class we participated in. Although I am a bit lax from time to time, having that strong foundation has made a huge difference in simba's leash manners and overall behavior - a very big deal for a 100lb dog! I would STRONGLY recommend pets playhouse to anyone in need of a great place for boarding, doggy daycare, or training!

Told them to shut up, be quiet, "growled at them" . Even when I said something he continued. I am sure that it can get tiring to listen to dogs bark constantly all day, but if you can't handle it, you shouldn't be working with dogs. Those are people's family members, and they are trusting you with their care and this man is being verbally abusive. I can't see if he's doing anything physically to them, but he is verbally being abusive to these dogs. I can still hear him yelling and he knows I'm out here. I told him I wouldn't dare take my dog there and it didn't seem to deter him so if you take your dog here, you might want to pull in the back parking lot sometime and just listen because I guarantee you you don't know what's going on when you're not there. This guy should be fired. I have been here for 30 minutes now and he is still yelling at the dogs, screaming at them to go sit down in a very angry tone. He is obviously not a happy person and he does not need to be around other people's pets. I am posting this because I care about animals. I'm not trying to cause problems for this guy. I don't even know who he is but he does not need to be working with animals, and if you take your dog here, you have a right to know.
