January 2018When I was searching for a company to provide care for my two pet boys, I was nervous and apprehensive as had previously never had a need for a professional pet sitting service. I interviewed about half dozen companies before I made my decision. During the process of looking for a pet sitter, I couldn't imagine that we would be able to find a company that would love and care for our pets with the same level of detail that we provide as a family. When the owner of Distinctive Petsitting, Inc., Lisa, arrived at our home in January of 2017 to meet our pets and interview us, I knew right away that her commitment to the responsibility of caring for our pets was superior. The excellent level of care and thoughtfulness that we have received from Lisa and her pet sitters has proved to be the hallmark of our experience on a weekly basis, as well as through more intense periods of pet sitting when we are out of town. We have two very elderly pets with special needs: A 14-year-old male pug with arthritis who is nearly blind and deaf and a 16- year- old male cat who has high blood pressure and is nearly blind as a result. The quality of the care provided by Distinctive Petsitting, Inc. has been established and stewarded by Lisa through the standards and protocols she has created. For example, the application and review process for prospective pet sitters is lengthy and unusually detailed. The process that she has created for hiring ensures that her pet sitters are honest, conscientious, observant and thoughtful. Distinctive Petsitting employees are respectful of both the clients and how the company is represented through each visit. Just as important, the process that Lisa has created for how the pet sitters will care for all pets is based on an understanding of the routine that the owner has for their pet(s). Distinctive Petsitting learns and follows that routine to perfection! Clients are informed about what will be done during each visit and then apprised of what happened during the visit. After each visit from Distinctive Petsitters we receive a memo note on our kitchen counter that details everything that occurred with each of our pets. We learn if our pets were happy or not, sleepy, playful etc. For the dog, specifics of the walk outside are noted in detail - for the cat, the litter box is 'scooped". If the pet sitter encounters or observes something that is unusual or troubling - we receive a communication immediately by text or phone. I am not only a Distinctive Petsitter, but I use this company for my own pets. Believe me, that's the best thing that can be said about a pet care company by someone that directly knows the way things actually go behind the scenes. I am a very particular pet parent, and I have total faith in my Petsitter, Krissy or anyone else that might sub for her. In fact, the things that go on that clients don't see would amaze them! We take pictures; we sit around with each other sharing cute stories about the pets we see; we often stay much longer than scheduled simply to spend more time with our beloved pet-clients; and we always give extra care to the pets and the client's home. Not only do I love my Petsitter, but I get to witness first hand the way Lisa runs her business. Lisa truly cares about each and every client, and, of course, she is a true and avid pet lover, herself. Just recently, she took in a poor stray kitten a neighbor found. This kitten is now loving life as a spoiled addition to her family with the other office kitties--no cat has a better life than the office cats that receive love from not only Lisa, but the entire staff! Lisa always goes the extra mile to get clients what they need when they need it. I've worked for those people that only do something if it directly benefits their bottom line, but Lisa is much more focused on giving the absolute best care to the pets, pleasing clients, and building a long-lasting rapport with people and pets, alike. Her dedication and constant availability amaze me. I know I always have her support at any moment should I have a question or issue out in the field. There is nothing like getting to spend your days working with pets, but, after spending years working for various companies dealing with pets, I have come to the firm resolution that I will never work for a company I do not believe in. Lisa and her entire team are fantastic! From the moment we met Lisa, we knew we'd found a quality service and people who are truly passionate about what they do and the animals they care for. I was genuinely impressed from the initial contact, the in-home consultation, and pet sitter introduction. But, what sealed the deal that we'd found our forever pet sitters were the updates while we were away during our first experience with Distinctive Petsitting. Anyone can layout a great plan, but the execution is what's really telling. We'd previously used another company that talked a good talk but found the situation once we left town to be unnerving, leaving us constantly worried about our little guy (who's a dog) while we were away. I ended up not hiring Distinctive Pet Sitting because of the attitude and poor customer service from the owner, Lisa Howard. I never in my life was treated or spoke to in a manner that she spoke to me in. I was trying to understand the process when hiring Distinctive Pet Sitting for the first time. The more questions I asked the more annoyed she got and I never could get a straight answer. She was very condescending and seemed very annoyed when I didnt want her sitter to come over 3 times per day ( I had someone else coming over midday). I had to do this for financial reasons. She kept repeating that I was going to leave my dog crated for 12 + hours a day. Well, if she would have listened instead of jumping down my throat she would have understood they wouldn't be crated for 12+ hours per day. It was if she was annoyed that I wasn't adding more services to the visit and paying her more money. I cancelled the initial in home appointment as a result of her attitude. I would not feel comfortable with her having anything to do with my home or pet while I was away. If this how she is to deal with when I haven't even met her, I would hate to deal with her if something bad were to happen while I was away. After I politely canceled our appointment, I received an email from her... she was clearly angry I did so. Her email went on and on about how I wasn't providing proper care for my animal. I didn't even respond. It's not worth it to deal with Lisa. I found a pet sitting company that is easy to deal with, flexible, and overall amazing!!!! read more

Everything about Distinctive Petsitting is worth sharing. They truly provide exceptional service that leaves me feeling completely at ease whenever I am out of town. At the first initial meeting, when we met our sitter Mary and the owner, Lisa, I was blown away at the attention to detail -- they took notes of everything I said, in particular of the critical twice-daily medication schedule one of our kitties needs. They quickly gained my confidence in their ability to maintain the feeding routine of our kitties, especially considering the heart condition our kitty has and the time-critical component of his medication administration. I know Mary treats our kitties as her own, as is evident by the detailed notes she leaves after each visit. Angela is always friendly and available to assist with scheduling or payment issues. Lisa has spent lots of time patiently answering all of my random questions on the phone and discussing the kitties, especially since newly introducing a puppy into our home a few months ago. I recently moved and one of my biggest stressors was finding someone to come in the middle of the day to love on my boy, Munson, while I work 12-13 hour shifts as a nurse. I found Distinctive Petsitting via Google. I love that fact that someone was actually in the office to answer the phone and have had nothing but wonderful service from them! Not only do they do a meet and greet with you and your animal, but they also have the assigned care taker and someone from upper management come to the meet and greet. Having an assigned care taker is one of the best things because it shows they understand a new person each time could be stressful. One of the other things I love is how much time they put in to get to know your animal. They get ALL information they could possibly need--not just the bare minimum for when they are scheduled to be there--but EVERYTHING just in case of emergencies and they need to take care of your animal--medications, feeding schedule, etc. And they come on the weekends, which is a wonderful thing! Distinctive Petsitting has been caring for my puppies for more than 6 months and I could not be happier. Lisa, the owner, is responsive, caring and accessible. Blair, their coordinator, seems never to get ruffled no matter how many last minute changes I request! But I really want to rave about Jimmie and Amanda who come visit and play with my Yorkies, Sky and Max. They walk them, play, snuggle and have even worked with my very finicky Max when he won't eat. I have been home unexpectedly when each of them has been there and I can see that my pups love both of them! Gotta give credit where credit is due! Distinctive Petsitting is incredible. I used Distinctive Petsitting when I was living in Vinings and I just moved a week ago to a location that's 23 miles away. This is clearly outside of their territory, however, because pets always come FIRST, they are willing to help me out -- not just by driving the 46 mile round trip, but also during the holiday season??
