Leo is quite simply an absolutely exceptional craftsman. He utterly transformed the dated, 30 year-old bathroom in my mother-in-law's condominium. The bathroom had a very strange layout (with a telephone booth-sized shower and then a separate ancient jetted tub spewing out mold), with incredibly claustrophobic pinch points and very limited floorspace. I interviewed many top-rated contractors, and I knew immediately that Leo was my top-choice. Even from our initial meeting, I was struck that he picked up details that the other contractors were missing (like how we would need to skim-coat the walls, as when we removed the shower, the replacement drywall wouldn't match the textured walls in the rest of the shower). I was thrilled when he was able to take on the project. There are so many reasons I could mention why Leo is the best contractor I have ever worked with. First, he is a true specialist in bathroom renovations--he is not just a general handyman or contractor who will build a porch one week and a bathroom the next. Leo is a *master* craftsman, and his vast experience with bathroom renovations (knowing what works, what doesn't, and how to address the inevitable unexpected discoveries that are made after demolition) was evident throughout the process. Second, he almost never sub-contracts, as he has mastered the plumbing, electrical work, tile work and dry wall skills necessary to do almost any bathroom renovation. You aren't at the mercy of subcontractors that are juggling multiple other jobs (and whose quality may be dubious, and in the very least they will introduce delays in your project). Third, he is honest to a fault. His estimate was incredibly comprehensive, and very reasonable (especially considering the extraordinary quality of his work). He kept very detailed records to account for all supply purchases--he definitely is not a contractor who nickle-and-dimes you once work begins. The bathroom renovation was 99% complete by his originally estimated timeline, and we were only a few hundred dollars above his original estimate, and that was entirely because we expanded the scope of the project after work commenced (I lost track of the numerous special touches in the bathroom that Leo added without charging any more labor, such as the cool backlight of the shower niche, or the electrical outlets with build-in nightlights that I hadn't even conceived of). Leo even noticed that the builder-grade kitchen sink in the condo was causing significantly reduced water pressure in the sink faucet, so he went to Home Depot and replaced the kitchen sink faucet with a dramatically better one (not charging for the install). He truly, truly cares about his client's happiness, and he was even more detail-oriented than I was (which is saying a lot!). Finally, he is an excellent communicator, regularly texting photos of the progress in the renovation (as the condo was unoccupied at the time of the work). If we ever renovate a bathroom in our house, Leo is the only contractor I would ever consider. If you are considering a bathroom project, just do yourself a favor and hire Leo--you absolutely won't regret it! read more
