I had in mind nasal Imitrex as pill form is useless if you get nauseous & vomit. Student physician says pill form will save me money. I have private health insurance with drug coverage. Student physician needs authorization from MD, who says Imitrex in a pill is useless for those with nausea & vomiting & gives me the nasal spray I want. On another occasion a MD who consulted with my 10 year old recommended a decongestant. Again was offered help for my pocketbook which was not only not requested but didn't work. Also physician's directions for medication didn't match Pharmacist's. Half a century on the planet & any other practice has student physicians they ask, "Would you mind being seen by Student Doctor X today?" and I always give consent. Would it be too much to ask UMass to do the same? At this rate UMass may be losing me as a patient.

You could safely assume a competent MD would would try reasonable methods (diet, exercise, etc) to address medical issues before demanding your patient take meds, but I guess if the MD knows all - there's no debating the subject! Marilyn goes way above expectations for my patients, to support the parents and the child and to be available to help throughout the entire process. She has in depth knowledge of programs throughout the US and internationally. She frequently visits programs, she knows the owners/directors and she even knows the clinicians enough to know which one will be the best fit for your child at the program you have selected. Dr. Engelman is great at connecting with your child and getting to know your child, allowing her to select programs that will be a good match. She is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, caring and is unrelenting in advocating your child's needs.
