The girls at the reception desks are extremely rude and condescending. There's no care or concern in their tones and if you do get upset and raise just a smidgens of your tone they're transfer your calls between one another and telling you that you, the customer, "didn't have to be rude." I have only been a patient of Dr. A. Purewal's since January 9th of this year but I can say that he has given me more insight to my pain and appropriate testing than my previous doctors had in almost 3 months time. It was a little rocky at first due to insurance and scheduling issues but once I saw him, we had a plan. I had am EMG pretty quickly which revealed the root cause of my pain and was scheduled for injections - again this process was rocky and took longer than I think it should have - but a manager-Jessica- called to personally apologize for the delay on their end and assured me that she would take care of it- and she did! I couldn't get an Appt for the injections until 2/16 but they were able to get me in to see Dr. Purewal pretty quickly when I had a severe flare up of my pain. I've had a good experience thus far but only criticism is that when I call, I speak to someone who is not in the Havertown office - they say they take messages for the doctors but I haven't had good experience with getting return phone calls. Yesterday at my visit- Dr. A. Purewal's medical assistant (Abenay) restored my faith in the company. She is a breath of fresh air. She is so thorough and was a HUGE help to me. She does exactly what she says she will do and is very professional. She is a 5 star employee and it is rare to find a caring and sympathetic person like her these days. I'm hoping that I continue to have positive experiences at this office despite the rocky start. I was referred by my primary doctor due to ongoing back pain. I made an appointment in the Northeast Philadelphia office, that was 3 weeks away (not ideal when you're dealing with chronic pain), gave them my insurance information & attempted several times to obtain a cancellation appointment to get in sooner. I received a confirmation voicemail 2 days prior. Then I received a voicemail cancelling my appointment about 16 hours before, stating that they do not, in fact, accept my insurance. When I attempted to return Tyana's call, I was bounced from voicemail to voicemail, never to receive a return phone call. No one was willing to assist me. My primary office called and was told that they do accept my insurance. I have NEVER dealt with such an unprofessional office in my life! Now I wait another 10 days to see a different doctor, still suffering with pain. I would seriously warn anyone looking for compassionate care to stay far away from Relievus!!! read more

I was referred to Relievus by my Primary Care Physician and so I expected a professional medical experience. First impressions are important and after sitting in pain in an uncomfortable chair in the Relievus waiting room for over one hour I was beginning to wonder if I had done something to make my PCP dislike me. I'm not a fan of medical providers who overbook, but to make patients who are in pain sit and wait in uncomfortable chairs for over an hour just shows a lack of compassion. I had a very professional, pleasant and productive visit a pain specialist once I finally got to see him. After the visit ended and I reentered the waiting room, I was horrified to see how paced with patients it was. Has Relievus heard about COVID-19 ??? A couple of days later I called to schedule my medical procedure - that may have been Strike 3! I wasted almost an entire day leaving messages that would never be returned, except for one - which turned out to be with incorrect information, according to my health insurance provider. So still nothing scheduled - giving me a chance to decide whether to give Relievus another chance or to get out now before I catch COVID-19 in their uncomfortable crowded waiting room. It's such a shame that Relievus is not more professionally run since the concept is great - having all of the pain management docs and other professional staff in one place. I am leaning towards starting over searching for my own docs and traveling a little further into Philly for a safer and more professional medical treatment. read more

Doctors spend maybe ten minutes with you (if you even get to see a doctor, many times I scheduled with my doctor only to have a physician assistant come in at the last minute instead - bait and switch anyone?) and then they spent most that time peddling their own products like CBD oil and insisting you buy it from them. Extra fun fact: it's not actually even their product! The CBD is made by some place called Michigan Herbal Remedies, which sells it way cheaper, and I don't have to give one more penny to this disgusting "pain clinic." read more

Absolutely horrific. I was a patient here for years, and had a great relationship with my providers. But ever since they incorporated into "Relievus", things seem to have gone massively downhill. I've noticed a lot of strange things that started happening; for example, they stopped taking my vital signs, which they had always done in the past and which can be critically important (that's why they're called "vitals"), especially for people on pain medication. And in regard to my personal care, I suddenly began to be treated with utter disregard. Fortunately, I found another doctor, and I feel safe and cared for again. The set up of the phone service is exasperating! When you call the person answering Rarely pronounces their name in a manner that you can understand them & most will not repeat it. In addition they don't listen! They speak over you & again just exasperating! If you need to speak to your doctor or have a question for your doctor it's another run around. If you're lucky you'll only need to make five to six calls in order to find a competent person to assist you. From the moment of my first contact with a Relievus staff member to schedule my appointment until the day that I initally met with Dr. Uplekh Purewal and the rest of the medical staff in the Northeast Philadelphia office - that was almost two years ago - I continue to have a very positive experience. Always being met by caring, professional staff members that take a holistic approach to patient care. I was so sick when I first met with Dr. Purewal - the pain was unbearable. Within the first three months, I met with Erica, the Nurse Practitioner and Dr. Purewal. I responded well to the medication prescribed - followed with diet, exercise and physical therapy programs. At the time of each appointment, I continue to find the educational series of programs played in the waiting room very useful and informative. Even when there is somewhat of a wait to see the Dr, I never mind because new there is new information played and I know that I will never be rushed once I am in for my appointment. I learn such valuable information sitting in the waiting area watching the educational series that educate me further on various pain management procedures and stem cell therapy. The website is wonderful! I have even overcome my intense fear of injections thanks to Dr. Puri who has been managing my care for over the past year. I have been with Dr Pryzbylkowski since 2014 when he was with Penn but when he moved to Relievus I decided I wanted to stay with Dr. Pryzbylkowski, so much so that I learn to spell his name! In December I had a trial for a spinal cord stimulator and it was fantastic! I'm awaiting an appointment for surgery with a neurosurgeon. Dr. P has been consistently on top of my needs and following up when things get "mismanaged" by the back-up staff. Yes, that is why I could not go for the full 5 stars. If I need to call-in or talk with the receptionist I have problems with my appointments or refills being done correctly. But Dr. P has advocated for me, helped me wade through potential errors in scheduling and refills. My pain started when I was only 8 years old and has a bad accident in a shallow swimming pool. I've been through decades of doctors not believing me, I'm now 51. I'd been told I was depressed, overly anxious, drug seeking but I really only wanted to walk without debilitating pain. I've been through 2 failed back surgeries, physical therapy dozens of times, chiropractic care, supplements..... all I wanted was some validation and initially I found that with Dr. Pryzbylkozski. I have seen other people waiting in the waiting rooms really distraught with pain and yet others who are able to do things I could never do even at 8 years old! I've seen patients who are grateful for the care they receive at Relievus and others who have slammed doors, screamed at staff, and flung water across the room. yes, pain can bring out the worst in us but ultimately, if we want care we need to be caring and patient with others too. I'm not thrilled with all things at Relievus but it has been so much better than places I have been to over 40 years in 3 different states. I am getting better, I feel cared for, and I have a doctor who has my "back" in more ways than one. read more

Fantastic Doctors and staff! I spoke in length to Brooke on the phone, regarding a serious issue I was facing, and she was able to contact Dr. P and it was taken care of literally, within minutes. She was able to put my mind at ease. This facility goes above and beyond for their patients and I feel that I'm in very good hands here. I'm only giving this place 3 stars, and those are for Dr. Lee because he is the only caring person there. The rest of the staff Are rude to patients who are truly hurting. Mrs. Rhee ignores her patients, she ignored the fact that I was having a bad reaction to medication she gave me after abruptly taking me off my pain medication I've been on for two years.. it was giving me terrible migraines and made me itchy, and it didn't matter how many times I called to make her aware of this situation that I needed something different, the staff would just answer for her and tell me to make an appointment. Even though I was just there. So in other words, if your not there submitting your insurance and co-pays, she wants nothing to do with you. So I was left feeling embarrassed having to keep calling with no results. Dr. Lee re-administered my pain medication 4 weeks prior to my visit with Mrs. Rhee. She disregarded that and took me back off of them. Not only did I have a terrible reaction to this medication, it does absolutely nothing for the pain I'm constantly in. What she gave me was equivalent to putting a bandaid on a broken back. Trying to compensate what my body was used to with aleve or Ibuprofen, only tore up my stomach. I ended up discharging my self as a patient there in hopes to find a new pain management. I didn't even know they went threw the process of discharging me, nobody called me back about that either. Instead a week later being today august 23rd I get a letter stating I've been discharged. Thanks for telling me. I've no missed calls or voice mails or messages in general. They don't care what happens to you. Which is truly sad because Dr. Lee was such an awesome doctor. read more

Dr Purewal put my father at ease. He is a caring, intelligent physician who can speak clearly and concisely to the point and has an excellent bedside manner. It is not easy to communicate with a complicated 88 year old patient with back issues that can only hear out of one ear but Dr Purewal handled it better than any other physician that we have visited. His staff is overwhelmingly welcoming and the office creates a pleasant atmosphere from the moment you enter the waiting room. Relievus really goes out of their way to focus on the patient being the priority! If there was the ability to rate Relievus 6 stars they deserve it!!! read more

Have only been at Relievus for a couple of visits. The first one I saw Dr. P and was releaved that I saw a physician and not a PA as was my experience at the first pain location I had visited. However, since my first visit I have not had my vital taken nor seen Dr. P., only his assistant. I am tied of searching for a reliable and helpful pain specialist. I hope that my next few visits will be as good as my first at Relievus. They do seem to be looking out for my best interest. read more

Doctor refused to consider my wife as a patient because of her list of problems, except that he offered to do facet injections. Scheduled facet injections. Had appointment to talk to doctor 4 days before the procedure, he didn't even show up in the office. Next day, surgical center called to give final scheduling information, asked her height and weight and list of allergies & meds, etc... revealed that the doctor office had not given them all the information they were supposed to. 4 hours later, doctor office calls and says surgicenter won't let her be treated there because of her BMI. WHAT???? IN THE THREE WEEKS SINCE SHE FIRST SAW YOU NOBODY BOTHERED TO VERIFY THAT THE SURGICENTER WOULD LET HER BE TREATED THERE???? Office staff is very inflexible and cold. I was suggested this place for pain management. I called and made an appointment for my local, Toms River NJ, location. We set up an appointment, ran my insurance card and discussed them sending me paperwork and their procedure. My appointment was set for 9 days from when I called. They mailed me the paperwork and told me what I needed to fill out. Fast forward to the day of my 10am appointment. They call me at 8am saying they don't accept my insurance (although they already ran it and said they did) I asked them how much it would be to just come in anyway. For me, I drive an hour and 15 once a month to see my current pain management doctor. Relievus gave me a price then proceeded to tell me they would only be able to help me with 3 visits. I'm not even sure why only 3. The guy then called me back and told me "she" (I don't know who she is) said they could not help me at all. I would not recommend this place as it is unreliable and they don't let you know until a couple hours before your appointment. The number you call is a hotline and they send you to other locations. So if the hotline can pull this.. no doubt in my mind that they would do this to someone else for another location. You cannot mess with peoples medication. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Jalali's since he was at Hanneman. I followed him from Philadelphia to New Jersey and I am currently a patient in the Sewell, NJ location. For years, I would sit in his waiting room and wait sometimes over an hour to see Dr. Jalali, he was worth the wait. His friendly front desk staff always made the time pass by including the patients in to their conversations, or by picking up conversations right where we left off from the month before. The summer of 2017 is when everything about this office changed. South Jersey Spine and Pain was bought by Relievus, and suddenly the friendly upbeat professional environment became cold, extremely unprofessional and unknowledgeable. I needed to know the new NPI number so that I could obtain a new referral under Relievus, and the new front desk staff had no idea what the NPI number was. They gave me a phone number for the billing department, who did not answer the phone and I could not leave a message because the voicemail was full (this NEVER happened with South Jersey Spine and Pain's billing company) When I informed the girl at the front desk that the voice mailbox was full, she threw her hands in the air and said "what would you like for me to do?" If the old staff from South Jersey Spine and Pain were still there, they would have gone out of their way to be sure that I had the NPI number so that I could have my referral put through. When I was unable to get the NPI number in order to get my new referral, I was told that I had to reschedule my appointment until I had a referral. They agreed to give me a script for one month, and then refused to give me back my co-pay. The medical assistant that came out to give me my script, is one of the only staff members from South Jersey Spine and Pain that is with Relievus. Her name is Kelly, but I've overheard her on multiple occasions tell patients that her name is Pam (not sure what that is about). I was so relieved to see her when she gave me my scripts, and I had a few questions for her about the script. It immediately became very clear that Kelly adapted very quickly to the Relievus way of doing things. She was very rude to me (as she had been with other patients) she kept telling me that she did not know the answers to my questions, and when I was in mid-sentence, she walked away from me and slammed the heavy wood door right in my face. I walked out of that building feeling so lost. Dr. Jalali sold his business to Relievus, but with that he also sold his dignity, and his care for his patients. Relievus claims that patient care is their priority, yet the physicians are triple booked and they are only in the room with you for 5 minutes. How are you focusing on patient care when you are just writing them a script or trying to force marijuana down their throat? By giving them a T-shirt? The office that I once spoke so highly of has now become a clinic with a Keurig. Shame on you Dr. Jalali and Dr. Park, for letting such a wonderful practice and staff be the victim of your greed. read more

My doctor has been very professional & helpful. I don't have concerns there and perhaps that's most important..but, the mistakes that the staff makes could be as important. They gave me info regarding my procedure/prep that was inaccurate causing me to go off of my normal medications for 6 days unnecessarily (therefore causing me to go through days of being very uncomfortable for no reason.) Ironic that their mission is to deal with pain. The main office seems to be pretty together but dealing with the local office was horrible. Each time I called, they called back with the wrong information, info that had nothing to do with my original question. It wasn't just once, many times, regarding my prescription. They're moving currently to a new facility, I want to offer some understanding for that but I just don't get the attitude when they were the ones who messed up. When I brought these things up I got a blank look like it was me. I was inches from going elsewhere but I did have my treatment and it seems to be working so I'll stick with a good Dr. and hope things get better on the admin portion. read more
