Working with Relics Rentals was one of the best decision that I made when it came time to planning my wedding. Not only were there rental pieces of excellent quality but there service was fantastic. As soon as I started working with Mary I immeditately felt that I was going to be well taken care of. I had a few ideas as to what I was thinking for my centerpieces but then gave Mary a few words that I wanted to describe my wedding and she took those words and ran with it! Within 30 minutes of getting off our first phone call she was already sending me photos of centerpieces that I may like and she was spot on. Looking at pictures from my wedding I wouldn't change a single thing. The rental pieces that I received from Relics were absolutely stunning and perfect. On top of that Mary was the absolute best. She was attentive, listened to my needs, made sure that all i's were dotted and t's were crossed. She didn't skip a beat! This place is pretty amazing. Extremely reasonable prices for the increasingly popular vintage/rustic/shabby chic wedding. Also a lot of props and other rentals for photo shoots/other events. The staff is knowledgeable and willing to work with you and your styles/tastes. They have really nice, rustic chalkboards and a cool perk is that they are willing to do custom writing or if you want a design, they can for it for you. You can even send in a design you want! And if you own items from your own rustic wedding, they even consider buying them from you to add to their inventory. Love this place! Would recommend for any event. It's just so nice to have unique furnishings and decor without having to buy and store items. Also, I can rent new items for every event and each one is styled nothing like the one before. The woman I dealt with here was incredibly snippy and rude. The pictures on the website don't make size clear - so you may order an easel thinking its 6 feet tall when it is actually 6 inches. The descriptions on the website (at least right now) are unclear and size is not given. In order to know what you are renting, you need to visit the warehouse downtown Milwaukee - which is not exactly easy given the unreliable hours and staff. The worst thing is if you just want to rent a few things that cost under $150, you can't reserve them because "it's not worth the effort" (said the woman I spoke with). In order to reserve anything for your wedding, you must spend more than $150. There is a lot of cool stuff here but there is nothing here that you can't get else where for the same price or cheaper. Vintique in Oconomowoc is wonderful. Friendly, helpful staff that are willing to work with your special requests. Their website is up-to-date, accurate and specific details are given. I recently used Relics Vintage for my wedding, and had the worst experience ever with a small, local business. The reason I initially chose Relics was to be sustainable, dress up my table decorations, and support a small business. When I first set up my appointment in March to look at what they have to offer, the owner, Jan, was not there, but an employee who didn't know what to do with me. She gave me some sheet to fill out, without showing me anything I was interested in from my initial email. I had to ask too many questions, and the employee didn't have many answers. After spending about an hour there and realizing I might just be having a bad day, I did decide to go with Relics. Also, at this time, I was told that I could SCRAPE THE PLATES CLEAN and not wash them once they were used, and since I wasn't hiring a formal caterer, I thought this would be a bonus. It's now August and I am getting my RSVP's set, and I emailed Jan before my second payment was due to tell her I need to add 20 of everything to my order of plates, utensils, goblets, etc. She replied back with an updated order and told me my card would be charged. We also adjusted my pick up of the items to be two days before my wedding. The day before I my pick up of all items, I emailed Jan asking her if someone would be able to help load up my sister's car, since she was going to be picking up my order and is also 6 months pregnant. I never got a response from Jan. My sister and fiance went to pick up all items, only to learn that Jan doesn't check her emails everyday, and that if I wanted help that I would have had to pay for it (though it was never offered). Jan was there for the pick up, standing at the loading dock not helping. Her employee, helped a little (only when the bottom of a crate of plates was about to fall out). Most of the dishes were in unlined milk crates, with broken bottoms. There wasn't an inventory sheet in each crate, and it was then I learned that all the dishes needed to be RINSED CLEAN, not just SCRAPED, like I was originally told. Jan was incredibly rude and not at all helpful. It's now the day before the wedding and we are setting up at the venue, only to learn that I DID NOT RECEIVE THE ADDITIONAL 20 OF EVERYTHING I ORDERED, but had already paid for. I am now short on each table, and I also found 3 glass goblets were broken (because they were not packaged properly) and a bunch of utensils were either rusted or tarnished. I immediately called Jan and she was "shocked" that her employees did not pack my correct order. She also gave me some lazy excuse as to why the utensils were tarnished, and that many people like that look. When I asked her if she would like to eat off a tarnished fork, she had no response. I told her she needed to bring me my order in an hour to the venue location because I have people coming over to my house later, and tomorrow is my wedding day. She said she could not do that because she was stuck in traffic. I continued to text her pictures of things that were broken and not right (BTW it's her cell phone number that is listed) and told her to bring everything to my house so I can see it, and not drop it off blindly at the venue. She stopped responding to me until she said that she dropped it off at the venue and everything was in it's place. When I asked to see photos she did not respond. So I had no idea what to expect until I walked in on my wedding day. And I had NO SILVERWARE OR GOBLETS ON MY TABLE. Because Jan did not listen to me and do her job right the first time around. Also, Jan only brought the additional 20 of everything I paid for that was not in my order. She did not replace any of the things that were broken upon arrival to the venue, nor did she offer to replace or refund those. When we went to return all of the items to the warehouse, Jan was there and was, once again, standing on the loading dock being lazy. I asked why she never offered me a refund, and she yelled that there was no way she was going to give me a refund, even though she caused me an insane amount of stress the day before my wedding and was the one responsible for messing up my order. She also offered to give me some "free things no charge" to use for the wedding, but I had to tell her what I wanted and she would bring them with her. The reality is there was no time for that, since I was busy setting up my hall and getting ready for people to be at my house. If that was her idea of "compensation" it's bogus and unrealistic. Her idea of compensation and customer service was also delivering the items to the venue (though I asked her not to) 4 hours after the fact (instead of within 1 hour like I asked her to) and without any photos (which I also asked her for). She started comparing herself to Target or some jibba jabba and it was all so frustrating and annoying I had to leave. So this review is to warn you that this woman has zero customer service skills or EMPATHY. read more
