Then there was complications with the furnace that was unsafe for use during winter weather. Months went by again with numerous requests to fix the problem with no return phone calls, until again threats of legal repercussions were made. Since then Brandon continues to make false promises of correcting his installation error, setting up appt dates, and then not appearing to complete the job. It's clear that he is waiting for his installation warranty to expire after getting your money! Unprofessional ass! Steer clear! Shoddy work, doesn't care about how he leaves your house a mess after install, doesn't take the time to answer service calls on HIS work, makes false promises on service appt dates, and lies/places blame on others for his mistakes.

After a searing weekend, the air conditioning companies were busy servicing many failed systems. On…read morea Thursday afternoon in mid-July, with two weeks of guests expected to arrive on Saturday, and more 90+ degree weather expected, we needed help and an assessment of why our 12 year old system was blowing warm and hot air into our house. We decided to try Choptank Heating and Air because it is located nearby in Preston. Expecting either a long wait for service or the bad news of having to replace our air conditioner, we were delighted to have Brandon stop over within 30 minutes of our call, diagnose and replace a failed capacitor, and head on his way within 15 minutes. There was no sticker shock-- his price and honesty will have us returning to him for regular service and telling our friends about him. In fact, he will be heading over later to give a "second opinion" to a friend who has just bought her first home and who has been told she needs a new air conditioner for $8,000. Even paying for a Choptank service call should be money well spent.

Do not recommend unless you want to pay top dollar for bottom barrel install. We moved into a home…read morewith a Shaw's 2016 heat pump install and will be spending ~5k to address the poor quality of the air handler install. The previous owners of my home were quoted 13k for this install. Code violations, did not follow manufacturer's instructions and no permits pulled. Permits have been required for changeouts in Talbot County since 2012. Shaws declined to view the install and consider making things right. Another local HVAC company saw this install and said "holy shit I wouldn't have put a sticker on this." - Our unit is only ~ 1 inch above grade and is supported by patio pavers. Both unit, ductwork and condensate pump are sinking into mud causing moisture and mildew problems. - Manager said he has never heard of codes requiring mechanical equipment to be at least 3 inches above grade. Attached is a screenshot of the 2018 international mechanical code (current building code for town of Easton, MD) regulation for clearances above grade. - Manufacturer's instructions included 4 inch condensate p trap, due to unit being installed only 1 inch above grade they installed a shallow trap (~ 1 inch) which manual says explicitly not to do. Picture attached. - No permits pulled. I believe that the unit would not have passed an inspection. - Duct work is touching dirt. - A crawlspace company that had no skin in this game noted our install is "in the bottom 10% of installs they've EVER seen in this area." - Our condensate pump was buried in mud despite unit saying "Indoor Only". Shaw's manager said that our crawlspace should be considered indoor, but at the same time also said that there was no secondary condensate system because it was not considered an indoor environment. Be prepared to get the angle that least benefits you if you use this company. - No secondary condensate drainage, secondary pan or no overflow detector which goes against manufacturers recommendations. The real kicker in this situation is that Shaw's refused to come out and view this install and to consider making the situation right. There was one other company that we had questions for after we moved in and they came out, assessed the situation and made it right. I would not recommend an expensive install with this company.

They did a fantastic job and went out of their way to ensure my carpets remained clean, which I did appreciate a lot. However, what I appreciated the most and where Drew went above and beyond is earlier this evening I noticed my upstairs carpet was wet. I ran downstairs and noticed a 8-10" water ring on my ceiling. I called Drew and without hesitation he said he'd be over soon, and walked me through shutting off the main and draining the system. He arrived within 30 minutes and said, "There's no way I can leave you without water overnight." He then immediately started addressing the issue. The immediate response alone shows they truly care about their customers so I highly recommend Drew and Matters Plumbing. Thank you again Drew!
