My wife and I have a 100+ year-old Baltimore row house that we bought in 2022 because we loved the…read morebrick wall and historic charm of the place, but we were having all kinds of issues with the floor and other parts of the home. We paid someone to replace the floor in 2022, but after a year, the LVP started peeling. They wouldn't stand by their work and instead offered to charge us for something they should've fixed at the time. Matthew from ACE Plumbing looked at the floor, identified the problem, and pointed out other (now obvious) issues leading that were leading to the feeling that the home was kinda falling apart. We initially asked for just the floor to be fixed, and other contractors only quoted us for the band aid solutions we thought we needed. However, Matt dug deeper and discovered rot in the siding, a leaking roof, and deteriorating walls, among other challenges. We chose Matt and ACE Plumbing over four other contractors because he was communicative, always available to answer questions, and proactive in giving advice that would save us trouble in the long run. Since we don't live in the home, Matt and his crew kept us up to date with photos and phone calls. As issues came up, he informed us of the process needed to resolve them. Throughout the entire process, we felt we were in the hands of professionals. Matt was able to describe the problems with our beautiful but old house, outline our options for a fix, and provide a timeline that worked for us. Another benefit was that Matt didn't just contract out the work we paid him good money for. He was on-site, getting dirty with his crew and taking videos to answer our questions. He wasn't just a glorified receptionist shuffling tasks to groups of unskilled workers. Professionalism was the hallmark of working with ACE Plumbing, and I would recommend them to anyone who wants to get the job done right!

These plumbers pulled our toilet to clear the clog, then put a camera in the system and found that we have a collapsed pipe. Heidler put a camera in but said it was too dark to see. The current plumber said it was too dark because the clog had not been removed. He also said that we are their second client this week where they were called because Heidler failed to correct the issue. When we called Heidler and told them that the toilet was backing up again, we were told that their work is not guarenteed. After seeing this review Heilder contacted us and refunded our payment.

Do not recommend unless you want to pay top dollar for bottom barrel install. We moved into a home…read morewith a Shaw's 2016 heat pump install and will be spending ~5k to address the poor quality of the air handler install. The previous owners of my home were quoted 13k for this install. Code violations, did not follow manufacturer's instructions and no permits pulled. Permits have been required for changeouts in Talbot County since 2012. Shaws declined to view the install and consider making things right. Another local HVAC company saw this install and said "holy shit I wouldn't have put a sticker on this." - Our unit is only ~ 1 inch above grade and is supported by patio pavers. Both unit, ductwork and condensate pump are sinking into mud causing moisture and mildew problems. - Manager said he has never heard of codes requiring mechanical equipment to be at least 3 inches above grade. Attached is a screenshot of the 2018 international mechanical code (current building code for town of Easton, MD) regulation for clearances above grade. - Manufacturer's instructions included 4 inch condensate p trap, due to unit being installed only 1 inch above grade they installed a shallow trap (~ 1 inch) which manual says explicitly not to do. Picture attached. - No permits pulled. I believe that the unit would not have passed an inspection. - Duct work is touching dirt. - A crawlspace company that had no skin in this game noted our install is "in the bottom 10% of installs they've EVER seen in this area." - Our condensate pump was buried in mud despite unit saying "Indoor Only". Shaw's manager said that our crawlspace should be considered indoor, but at the same time also said that there was no secondary condensate system because it was not considered an indoor environment. Be prepared to get the angle that least benefits you if you use this company. - No secondary condensate drainage, secondary pan or no overflow detector which goes against manufacturers recommendations. The real kicker in this situation is that Shaw's refused to come out and view this install and to consider making the situation right. There was one other company that we had questions for after we moved in and they came out, assessed the situation and made it right. I would not recommend an expensive install with this company.

We have been dealing with the frequent brown water in Bowie and having a local plumber has been wonderful as he immediately knew exactly what filtration system we needed for the sediment. He is thorough and patient with his explanations. We needed a quick turn around time on the estimate for our filtration system to apply for a rebate program and he delivered, and within the week we had our visit, estimate, and now our finished project completed. I was insistent on using James again after we had a tub leak emergency ~2 years back and as first time homeowners were very panicked for a $$$ bill. The service that was provided when we had a leak from our other bathroom by a national chain was expensive and they didn't even resolve the issue! For our tub leak James quickly discovered it was the tub overflow not being connected fully and a small part was needed. He thoroughly checked inside our wall for damage, gave suggestions on drying the area and let us know he was just a phone call away. I had lost track of his contact information but found it again and I'm so glad I did! I don't usually take the time to write reviews unless I've had a really negative experience and want to warn others, but in James' case I wanted to make sure to recommend him and his team for any plumbing project! We will be sure to use their company for all our future needs and have recommended him to several local friends as well. With his company also offering general contracting projects I will definitely be trying that out as well, as our old "flipped" house has a lot of hastily done - likely DIY- by prior home owner upgrades that were not done completely or well (as seen by our tub and shower leaks -.-), and my home needs some knowledgeable contractor help!
