Edison and his great team just completed a nearly year-long job on my home in Long Beach. It started last Spring 2025 when he shepherded me through the HEEHRA grant process and helped me replace my 50-year-old HVAC system with a state-of-the-art variable speed heat pump from American Standard. But since the original construction of my home had a poor central AC vent design and no kitchen exhaust vent, there were major temperature differences throughout the house. Super El Niño got Southern California cooking like a George Foreman grill, and Reliable Home Comfort holds the service contract on the AC at our business in downtown LA. They insisted on it. That was over a year ago. Since then the unit has died about once a month - which, if you think about it, is the most reliable thing about them. Here's how the subscription works: it breaks, a tech shows up, "fixes" it, pretends he cleaned it, and tells us how hard they work. Never the same tech twice. None of them bring tools. One borrowed my screwdriver. Another borrowed my ladder. I'm paying above-average prices to rent my own equipment back to myself. Last breakdown, I call to schedule. We open at 2 PM. The receptionist, with all the warmth of a DMV ticket machine: "We only do mornings." Earliest slot? Two weeks out. For an estimate. Not a repair. A f*cking estimate. Fine. I wait the two weeks. Nobody shows. No call. No text. Nastya at Boom Beauty Time fixed eleven weeks of damage in one appointment. These people, operating out of Compton from what I can tell, couldn't make it to downtown in fourteen days. That's not a commute. That's a migration. So I climbed on the roof and opened the panel myself. Pictures attached. Wire nuts everywhere like a piñata went off. A bare red wire just hanging out. The board looks fried, and instead of replacing it, somebody bypassed it with a 5-amp breaker labeled "LIL POPPER," zip-tied to nothing, dangling in there like an air freshener off a rearview mirror. Pretty sure it came off Alibaba. Shawty's working the front desk with the young crew now. She's still in mourning since Spirit went out of business - no more budget Miami runs, no more Motel 6 by the beach. She keeps her last boarding pass in her wallet like a widow keeps a ring. The heat did not help the grieving process. And naturally Aiden was there. Spider-Man Crocs. Juice box held like a cigar. He's out of his forklift-video phase - it's HVAC repair videos now. I showed him the photo. He paused his video. Studied it. Then hit play and turned the tablet away from me. In Aiden currency, that's one star and a restraining order. The mystery got solved later. I called the number on a card one of the techs left me, hoping he'd come through on the side. He quit. Says they pay pennies and treat the techs like sh*t, so nobody stays. That explains everything. One star. Not for the techs - for whoever signs their checks. Pay your people. And ERS Towing, relax. You've been demoted to second-worst. read more

This company has gone way down hill. When we contracted with Edison Rossman, the owner, everything seemed above/board and correct. Now, about a year later, technicians do not arrive when their own texts say they will, are dressed unprofessionally and cannot communicate clearly, they don't know what they are there to do, and the company has untrained, unprofessional staff--including Ashley and Viri--in the office, who yell at and argue with customers. On top of this, Edison will not respond when customers call to express concerns. Do not use this company unless you want to be disrespected and work with people who apparently do not care to honor their own maintenance contract. read more

I replaced my 20 plus year old American Standard furnace and ductwork last year but kept the existing A/C unit and coil. This year, I decided to be proactive and replace the leaking A/C unit (R22 - Obsolete). When our 1930s gas floor heater finally broke down, we wanted a new system that included AC, now that every summer gets hotter than the last. We got several quotes for ductless mini-splits, but Edison at Reliable Home Comfort was the most thorough in his evaluation and had competitive pricing for a more reputable and efficient system. When we expressed concerns about placement of the units and drains, he did not hesitate to come out for a second visit to review options and offer solutions. The RHC crew was able to remove the old floor heater and install the new system in 3 rooms in a few days. They were timely, friendly, provided helpful updates, and took steps to cover the floors and clean up each day. When one unit suddenly stopped working, RHC was quick to come back and fix the issue. The unit itself worked fine, but the condensate pump couldn't handle the distance of the drain across our awkward house layout. After RHC took time to reroute the drain to a closer location, everything worked great and passed inspection. We're excited to finally have AC in this house and happy to be rid of the scary old gas heater. We're also glad to know we can rely on Reliable Home Comfort for any future maintenance. We hired Edison Rossman of Reliable Home Comfort to install a new HVAC unit in our home. Of the 4 companies that we interviewed, Edison was the only one who told us that we needed a 4 ton unit based on our sq. footage, the others told us that we needed a 5 ton unit probably based on the unit we had at the time. Edison was able to give us quotes for several different options and was very patient as I kept emailing him and calling him with different questions. I have a "long, skinny" house in Huntington Beach, CA, that was built in 1979. The 2-story house has a flat roof and no attic. I purchased the home in late Dec 1999. The house was usually cold. A few years later I replaced the old gas furnace with a new one, but it still wasn't warming the house. The reason the furnace was not doing a great job heating the house was not because the equipment wasn't functioning, but because there were only four vents -- two upstairs and two downstairs -- with extremely limited ducting hidden in one soffit (dropped ceiling) in the entry area and another soffit (dropped ceiling) at the landing area at the top of the stairs. After many years of just wearing extra layers and using a space heater in the bedroom, I finally had the opportunity to replace the furnace with a mini-split system. Research showed that the Mitsubishi system had the best reviews, plus the company offered financing and incentive (in the form of a longer warranty) to purchase the system through a Mitsubishi-authorized dealer. I had one "very satisfied" referral from a neighbor to a company who installs a lot of these. A sales representative from that company came out and went over the physical logistics and challenges presented by having to run individual lines from the "compressor" (which would go outside on the patio) to each individual unit in four different areas ("zones") of the house, and we came up with a strategy. This company submitted a bid. It was a lot more costly than I'd imagined, because I hadn't factored in the logistics. I decided to get other proposals to make sure I was getting a competitive price. I went back to the Mitsubishi website to get referrals to factory-authorized licensed dealer-installers, and arranged to have two other companies come out to give me a quote. One of those two additional companies was Reliable Home Comfort (RHC). The owner of the company is Edison Rossman. He made an outstanding first impression. He was timely, professional, respectful and he took the time to really evaluate the job and to listen to what I wanted to achieve. He spent a good bit of time exploring the property, measuring the entire house and the four specific zones to be able to run the load calculations, as well as to be able to input the data in the Mitsubishi "diamond builder" software to determine the appropriate size units needed. I really liked Mr. Rossman and thought he would do a very good job. His pricing was competitive with the other two companies, and he provided the load calculations. He didn't end up getting the work because his company hadn't been in business as long as the other two competitors, and the co-owner of the house was concerned that RHC might not have the experience needed on such a complex and complicated install. I felt bad explaining to Mr. Rossman that we had decided to engage another company (not the initial one who had been recommended by the neighbor), but he understood and was extremely respectful and did not respond in a mean or bitter way. Our job ended up being even more complicated and there were challenges that the owner of the company we did hire had not anticipated. It took a lot longer to get the job done, and it took three tries to get the work to pass inspection by the city. So now, hindsight being 20-20, I can tell you that RHC is the company I wish we had hired. The owner is very hands-on and he truly listens and is committed to obtaining technical training, to providing excellent customer service and to being extremely responsive, professional, respectful and polite. He does not employ aggressive sales techniques or exaggerations in order to get the work. It is also a big plus that Mr. Rossman is a veteran who served in our country's military. There are a lot of very positive things to be said about this company and I encourage you to invite this company to bid on your job.
