Called to see if I could get my state inspection on my car done and thankfully they had time for an inspection. I had my kid with me so I had to wait inside in lobby . They had drinks water and coffee and some snacks. Restrooms were very clean and lobby area was comfortable and spacious to sit and wait on chairs or sofa . Then I was told this fantastic synthetic oil would only last me 5k miles. Picked up my car and nobody told me where it was. I had to walk all around the building like a goofball. Found it in an obscure location at the rear of the complex. But here's the kicker: opened my car only to find all of my glovebox contents strewn all over the front seat. I've never seen anything like it. If they were that careless with taking care of my stuff, I don't have much confidence in how they treat the parts of the car that I can't see. I hit a curb earlier this year, I know, and I needed work done ASAP. A buddy of mine referred me to Reliable Auto, and going through them for repairs was solid. Repairs were well done and guaranteed, and my insurance company said they were easy to work with each step of the way. The work was also handled ASAP which I also appreciated, and that is why I can give them 3 stars. My husband went here for an oil change and had to wait almost 4 hours. You can't schedule the appointment for the oil change which is fine, but he started to see people who came after him get their cars at some point. He had asked them to install the front license plate for him since we had just moved to TX from a state that did not require the front plate. A few hours in, someone asked him if he still wanted to get the plates installed...the ones he asked them to install when dropping the car off. He said yes, it took them another hour to install them, but the job got done and they very kindly didn't charge us to install the plates, so we forgave them forgetting about him for a bit. Fast forward to this past weekend when I took my vehicle to have an oil change. I asked if they could install the front plate, and they said it would be no issue. Husband picks my car up and the plates weren't done. I called and asked if we could bring my car back for the plates since they weren't done, and then the person told me they could, but they would be charging us $81 to do so. I kindly advised them that there was no charge when my husband did his oil change a few months ago, and then I asked why they hadn't called me to tell me all of this beforehand now asking me to bring my car back again for an $81 service to put plates onto the car. No apology. He said the cost was $81. I asked why the discrepancy when we weren't charged for this last time. He said he was just telling me what the technician said. I asked him if he could ask if this could be done without charge as it was done previously along with an oil change, and he said no, the technician would not do so and explained the process to install the plate and that there was a risk of them damaging the bumper. I told him I would be more concerned about damaging the bumper of a newer car with cameras (my husband's car) vs my base model vehicle, but asked why the inconsistency. He said that this technician is not willing to do it without charge and we must have had one previously that was OK with it? I'm not turned off by them not doing the service for free. I'm turned away by the inconsistency, the coldness, the lack of communication throughout the last two experiences we had with them, their explanations, and their lack of care. Also, $81 to put on a front plate? The dealership down the road was going to charge $35, but when we already had the frame and mounting they did it for free. I understand that it isn't a simple screw-in job, but $81? It is good to know they take care of you when you're giving them thousands of dollars, but for the small things they overcharge and lack the same level of service. read more

It was my first time at Reliable and as soon as I walked in, I was impressed. Everything was SO CLEAN. The waiting room, the bathrooms, everything. They even spread out the seating so people aren't so close with COVID. It's a relaxing waiting space with comfy chairs and WiFi. As for the service... AWESOME. The people at the front desk were friendly, and the repairs were reasonably priced. I got an overall car health check, oil change, and new air filter all for under $110. This place is a total scam. My husband I were new customers, went separately and they charged both of us $800 to replace all four break pads. We weren't happy, didn't really trust it, but we did it. $1600 out of pocket. Now it's winter and my husbands heater stopped working and since it's going to be less than 20 degrees this weekend, he decided it needed fixed. He knew exactly the part that it needed, brought it in and said "hey this is what is broken and needs fixed". The part cost $17 on Amazon. They charged him $99 for diagnostics even though he told them what was wrong, $200 for the part, and $200 for the labor. Over $500 once it was all done, all for a $17 part. We will NEVER use this place again as they are out to steal money! That is a total scam, especially on hard times with covid. How can this company rob the people of Kyle like they are? read more

I took our Camry in for them to find a brake fluid leak, that's all. I was told that I would be contacted once they had found the issue. It was getting late and I had not received a call. So I called them and was informed that rotors and pads were bad and oh yeah, they found a leak. oh and the price tag for these repairs over 1300 dollars!! This guy was insisting that we had a conversation over the phone wherein I authorized this. Apparently I just didn't recall having this conversation. At least no work was done and I got my car back without charge. I knew the brake pads were pretty new and the rotors were good. I came to Reliable Automotive after having a good experience in the past. My check engine light had been on for a couple weeks and I had the code read at another shop, so I had a good understanding of what the problem was. After making a 7:30am appointment, I left my car and had to wait until almost 3pm to even get an update on what was wrong with my car. I called multiple times throughout the day and was met with rude indifference that there was still no update. When I finally received an update, I was told two moderately reasonable issues that were quickly fixable, they just had to order parts that weren't going to be in for a few days. When I went back that evening to pickup my car (still not fixed, it just took that long) I was told there was a "big problem" and that after another test (after I got off the phone with them) that it was "likely" that my head gasket had blown and that I'd need a new head gasket OR a new motor. I never got an alert that my engine was getting hot and never had any messages on my dashboard that anything was wrong. Of course, for whatever reason, the new head gasket was going to be impossible to find/repair so it was going to be a new motor that I needed. I immediately got my extended warranty company on it, and shocker they wanted to know why a new motor was required. After many phone calls back and forth, a $120 diagnostic bill, less than kind customer service, and unnecessary stress, I took my car somewhere else (they let me leave the shop with my car even though I "needed a new motor"???) This other shop (phenomenal) did more tests, including a pressure test and determined that no head gaskets were blown and I in fact did not need a new motor. They saved me from a $10k unnecessary car bill, plus whatever I would've have to pay for a rental... out of pocket. I am very disappointed in the unethical practices going on at this shop and sad that it's gone downhill since my previous experience. I will not be returning. read more

Scammers. I'm a young woman with a nice-ish car and they tried to take advantage of my naivety. Luckily I have men in my life (boyfriend and grandpa) who were able to help me avoid being scammed. I went there to get an oil change and get my brake pads checked out just in case, but my car only had 40k miles on it, so it's unlikely anything should be wrong with the car (it's also been up kept well over the years). I go there, drop it off, and get a call saying my brake pads can't be replaced without also replacing all the rotors because it's a "special" car (it's a volvo and there are volvo dealerships everywhere. It's not that special). So I was going to be charged $1200 for everything! From only expecting to be charge $100 at most, this was shocking to me. They then told me that my brake pads were fine (something they didn't tell me initially when they were first trying to charge me with new brake pads), but they said the back rotors were warped and the front ones had hotspots. I had no idea what that was, but I felt rushed to approve the order to get them all replaced by the following day as if my car wouldn't work without this. My boyfriend said it doesn't make any sense, so I told them no. A week later, my grandfather, a long time engineer and mechanic, checked it out and said my brake pads are fine and my rotors are fine. The back rotors have groves in them and therefore have morphed the brake pads, so if one day I need to get my brake pads replaced, I will also need to get my rotors replaced. Other than that, everything was working fine with PLENTY of wear left. So basically, they saw a slight issue on the rotor (groves from rocks getting stuck in the brake pad) and either have no idea what they're talking about or they're scammers trying to take advantage of naive women. read more

Brought my car in for a power steering leak. I saw the leak was coming from where the return hose and pressure hose meet the steering gear. I asked them to take a look at it. They told me it might just need to be tightened. They call me back an hour later saying both hoses need to be replaced and it will be $500 or higher. I was suspicious so I took the car home and saw the bolt holding the hoses in was very loose. I tightened it down and the leak stopped. Thanks for trying to scam me out of $500 or more. read more

Tim squeezed me in for an alignment and oil change without an appointment and I felt that they took really good care of me and my vehicle and did not try to up-sell me on a bunch of unnecessary stuff. I did opt to replace the air filter, but it was needed and for the convenience the price couldn't be beat. The place is brand new and super clean. The quoted and final costs seemed very fair and reasonable (and they have coupons out there online). There's a good chance that I'll be back when the time comes.
