Releve has been our home away from home going on our 3rd year now. I have 3 kids 2 girls now 10 they were 7 1/2 when they started and 1 boy who is now 13 started when he was 11 1/2. We truley found our place here. Elijah saw the boys crew perform at a showcase and had to check them out. He came with no dance training but feel in love from his first class he has now been on the boys crew for 2 dance seasons and this year has moved on to protege. My girls had their first competition year last year and have joined two teams this year. All the teachers have been great with the kids. We have taken almost every style at this point. The teachers have been great helping elijah get comfortable taking other styles beyond hip hop which is helping him really enjoy tap, ballet jazz and contemporary. My girls have made wonderful friendships as have i. It is hard for anyone to meet new people i am initially a shy person than its all over im loud as can be, but i have learned at releve to initiate conversations. Somedays im able to do more than others, but the parents at releve make it so easy to start a conversation with. There are kids of all ages and experience. Like with anything it takes time to build bonds and get to know people, but once they are built these kids have so much fun together. We love releve and i love the fact they understand school comes first and they will work with you to make sure the kids are balancing school and dance well. I highly recomend releve, if you bring your child try more than one class and dont be afraid to ask a mom questions or just say hello. My daughter who is now a college sophomore at Emerson College in Boston is studying theater and performance and we both truly agree that the valuable training and also the fun & joy she received at Relevé had a huge part time in choosing the college where she is earning her BFA in theater and performance. The singing, dancing and acting skills she acquired here were taught by professionals teachers who love what they do and make each class so unique and fun!! I have tried and danced in several different studios, but this studio is by far my favorite. Not only are the classes amazing, but the family atmosphere is so incredible and makes me feel very welcome. The studio director and owner, Jodi, cares so much about her students and even has two little ones of her own attending as well. The teachers all care about you and your growth and are careful that you don't get hurt when dancing. Especially Ms rachel who pays close attention to her students bodies and notices when her students are hyperextended, or if you have dropped arches, or anything like that, and tells you what to do to ensure you don't get hurt or even how to correct it. At Relevé my children and I are part of the family not just a number or even just a name! The teachers care and are helpful and not just because it is their job. The studio is alway evolving like adding new classes like the new Bollywood class on Wednesday's. Parents bond in the waiting room and look out for each other's children. Had to make a new yelp account as Jodi and her husband would harass me and block me and my family on social media as she already had in the past with other students. Which by the way - is extremely unprofessional and petty! I'm going to be very honest about my review and not only do I feel this way but MANY other students do as well. I have basically grew up at Relevé studios and spent multiple years and the studio and can say exactly what the studio has turned into. First let's start with some of the good. Adrienne, Makeida, and Mallory are absolute angels and we're one of the many reasons I stayed longer than I should have at this studio as well as some of the students who went/go there who have became life long friends. Now with bad. The studio is disgusting and had a smell to it from the second you walk past the doors. The area is very sketchy and some of the teachers - as well as Jodi are extremely rude and unprofessional. If you or your child is not a toddler and attending this studio, go somewhere else. The teachers such as Chantel P. and Katy R. C. have no problem yelling at your face or embarrassing you in front of the entire class. Not only have they done it to me personally but to multiple students in multiple classes. In addition they would make fun of other studios who would do better than them at competitions, setting a poor example for the students and overall having a crazy dance mom vibe. So many student have left due to their unprofessionalism, favoritism, and bullying. They are only nice if you're the daughter of someone working there. Many students have left in the past due to such reasons and have gone to much bigger and better places further enhancing their acting and dance careers. Our daughter danced with Releve for several years and although the teachers were fantastic the owner Jodi has proved to be a lousy role model and has publicly demonstrated what we would refer to as "dance mom" out of control personality. She is unbelievable inappropriate nor does she have an inkling of how to positively role model for students. Our daughter gives 100% all of the time. She may not become a professional dancer but her agent feels she is very talented and has already been in several movies dancing, Ironic isn't it. She tried out for their team a few times and was never allowed on the team. we now understand Jodi didn't want her o the team for whatever reason. Funny how she tried out for another company ( a much better studio all around) and is now on another studios dance team and really doing amazing. At a recent performance I was unable to be there during the rehearsal week to assist her with her hair and make up. Another parent offered to help her during my absence. This required our daughter to dress in their dressing room. The other parent made certain that all that needed to know knew yet when Jodi stormed in and I mean stormed into the dressing room she verbally assaulted our daughter then when I approached her she snaps at me saying to a paying customer mind you that "I push all her buttons" What ever that means I truly have no idea nor do I care. I have spoken to Jodi maybe twice or three times in the 3.5 years our daughters danced with this studio. It's really ok not to like a person but how dare her treat children in this way. I emailed our concerns immediately to her though her office since I didn't have her direct contact info and the response I received was generic and clearly not an apology it The other parent that arranged to help our daughter said she too was furious and taken aback by Jodi's lack of professionalism and spoke to her as well. She apologized to her and told her she didn't have the facts and that she would seek our daughter out to apologize to her. Never happened. So in the end we have of course moved on. I am happy to share my email that was sent to them and the response which wasn't even from Jodi. In response to her request to filter??? The answer is no! Your staff are not the ones that handled a situation wrong you did! The worst part was you never ever tried to make it right with an apology. You tried to publically embarrass and shame our daughter and fortunately, our daughter was raised knowing she matters and gratefully she has integrity. Our daughter has gone on to a graduate from one if the finest D1 schools dancing her way through with a 80 percent scholarship. She currently uses this horrible situation as an opportunity for her to know what type ok of teach never to be. This review should haunt you as your irrational, crazed dance mom behavior will never be forgotten from once was young influential young girl. It is tragic to loose a child, no doubt but then one shouldn't go to work if one is the owner who control her outburst. I lost 14 pregnancies and as a teacher of students with special abilities I never lost myself at the expense of a child. read more

Releve dance studio is a great place for your child to take dance classes(modern,tap,hip hop,jazz,ballet,etc). The teachers are great in teaching new choreography to the students and give positive feedback. My two daughters take dance classes at Releve and they love it. This is the second semester for my 2 1/2 year old and she loves loves going to her dance classes. Her teachers Jenelle and Katie are amazing. The only thing I wish they would change is maybe the viewing screens which are really small and I wish they would be more strict on parents actually going in the class with the children because I have noticed it really distracts the little ones. I just really feel the need to write this... I had been with Releve studios for three years, took a year break to compete with my high school's dance team, and am now going to return for my fourth year as a dancer with Releve. I can honestly say that Releve Studios has deeply affected my life, and so much of the person I am to day is because of this studio. The term "releve" means to lift up, and that is exactly what the studio's purpose is. I felt myself lifting and growing as a dancer, and all around as a person. Not only are the teachers well trained, professional, and completely care about each and every student, but the owner & manager are always present, and friendly to all. Everyday I look forward to entering and seeing Catherine - the studio manager's - smile and warm personality. Although I haven't been there in a year, I still sincerely consider Releve as my second family, and it holds a place very near and dear to my heart. Every student looks out for another, and grow as one. The variety of levels and classes provides a comfortable environment for each dancer to learn at their own individual pace & level, and grow each and every year. All teachers have a unique style, and I have nothing bad to say about ANY of them. Jodi, Releve's owner, I have grown to know and become close to all these years, and I will never forget something that made me think the WORLD of her. I tried out for the studio's competiting team, let's see...for three years! The first year I auditioned, I didn't make it, and to be honest was disappointed because I thought I would. I have been with Relevé Studios for 10 years! Okay first of all Relevé Studios is the most professional environment to work and dance at. Jodi and Shon Little are professional studio owners who care deeply for their customers and staff. The studio is a kid friendly environment studio. The studio policy is to up lift people. Starting from dress code which is to be in dance attire and no vulgar costumes for shows. The staff goes through so much training and meetings to ensure the child's growth. Reading some of the reviews I know for a fact it is "fake reviews" because they were written by competitive studios who never attended Relevé and are fake accounts. My two young boys have taken tap and now hip hop classes and ALL THEY TALK ABOUT is "When do we get to go back to hip hop?" They take a lot of classes outside of school: Freerunning, robot-building, sports, but they are most excited about a DANCE CLASS. I believe this is due to the constant atmosphere of positive support and high-quality at Releve. My daughter attended Releve studios for a year, so it is a long enough time to observe, so I can share my thoughts. I am not as excited about the studio as other reviewers. First of all, it doesn't feel like a family. A welcoming family. Previous studio my daughter went to, parents smiled at each other, talked, receptionist knew everyone, the owner knew everyone! Here receptionist is busy at her computer, parents who go to the studio for a long time chat, others are cut off. Again, I am comparing with my previous experience: there receptionist would ask if you want to sign up for the rehearsal, here nobody bothered to see why I didn't sign up. The payment policy doesn't seem to be fair either: you pay for the month, so if you take a class on Monday (and most holidays are on Monday), then your per class pay is more than if take a class on Tuesday. You cannot make it up. Only if you missed a class, you can make it up. You cannot see your child, there is a big screen TV in the waiting room, but it is split into four screens for each studio, so the kids are like ants and you have no idea what is going on. There are "viewing days" when you can observe your child last 15 minutes of class, but they are not advertised, so I only found out about it half a year after we started, and since kids are not used to having parents watch them all the time, they often start acting up. I am talking about younger kids, 5-6 years old. So from what I was able to make since I couldn't really see the teacher, she is focusing more on advanced kids, so the ones who need a bit more attention, more repetition, they get lost. I am like that myself, I can never get choreography from the first time I see it. I need to practice slow several times, but then I do get good at it. My daughter is the same way, so she complained to me every time that she is not sure what to do. I had to go over basic dance moves with her at home. But I am not a professional, I pay money for a professional to teach my daughter! So now we are at a point where my child doesn't like ballroom dances anymore. Sad. read more

My fiancé and I came here for lessons for our first dance at our wedding, we were lucky enough to meet Miss. Elena and she was AMAZING! She took two goofy non dancing types and gave us a fun dance that was the highlight of our whole wedding. I also came back and got lessons from her for my father daughter dance and she was so sweet, kind and professional and made our experience such a pleasure. My daughter has taken 3 different classes here and loved them all. The location is great (and huge!) and parking is ample although a bit of a walk. Their recitals and photographs do cost more than other studios but it's worth it because Releve always does everything first class. Not just for kids... but adults too. As an adult I wanted to learn a few dances to be able to enjoy a night out on a date by going dancing instead of just the movies. Releve Studios is great place to learn anything from Salsa to ballroom dancing. I plan to revisit and prepare for those wedding dances when the time comes. I have been going to this studio for 5 years now. I am on the competition at relevé as well. When my family moved we were looking for a new dance studio for my younger sister who wanted dance not to be super serious, and a place for me where i can work hard and improve. My sister and I tried some studios around our area and some were too much for my sister and too little for me. Once we found relevé my sister and I both loved it. They have a wide variety of different styles, ages, and levels for everyone! Relevé also expanded my love for dance. I remember after my first ever class I just fell in love with dance. I kept practicing my recital dance (which is an amazing show held every year for friends and family to see what you've been working on in class.) Since then I decided to try out their competition team. I love how they have different teams for how much commitment you want to put into dance. Every single year I have seen major improvement in my dancing skills. This makes sense because all the instructors at relevé really get to know you and help you improve on what your having a harder time on. For example, I am not super flexible and the instructors showed me stretches to do at home to help me work on my flexibility. The instructors there also are very safe. Sometimes in dance you can get injured and I have never been seriously injured from dance because of how safe they are and knowing your limits. I also love how Relevé has a dress code that's not a sports bra and booty shorts. I always feel really comfortable when I'm dancing and wont need to worry about any judgement. This studio is beyond amazing. Every single person there has a big heart and is super caring. I have not just grown as a dancer but also as a person. My daughter has been dancing at this studio since 2011. She started out taking one class, and eventually progressed to being in the Dance Company. She loves going there. She loves her classes, adores her instructors, and she became very good friends with other dancers in the studio. In turn, I became friends with the dance parents, and it is rewarding for me too. From my perspective, as a parent, and after trying out different studios, the reason Releve Studios is a good fit for us is because it offers a good combination of different types of classes, strong and compassionate instructors, very responsive and caring owner, and a manageable expectations and schedule, where my high schooler can manage both her school work and her dance and still find time to be with her non-dance friends. The owner, Jodi Schilling, knows pretty much most, if not all, of her students, and she cares about their progress, whether they are in Dance Company or simply taking a class or two. I like that the philosophy of Releve is to promote team work, compassion, friendship and support of each other. These are the qualities that Jodi encourages in her students, and this is the feedback that I get from my daughter. Given that this means dealing with a group of tween and teenage girls with a sprinkling of teenage boys, it cannot be easy, and yet, all I hear from my daughter is positive words. I've taken a few of the classes offered at Relevé (Adult Tap, Ballroom, and Hip Hop) and for a white guy with two left feet, I have to say I was excited to find a place that had the patience to teach a slow learner like me. The absolute best dance space I have seen since moving to Los Angeles 10 years ago. From the moment you walk in you can sense the warm yet professional atmosphere set by Jodi and her staff. Via their outreach program Releve is also the in house dance instruction provider to my daughter's elementary school. Jodi and her top notch staff have given such a great dance foundation and appreciation to all of the kids at her school across all the grades. As head of the youth division at a talent agency I always recommend Releve Studios to all of my clients who are looking for dance training and I shall continue to do so for many years to come. Releve was a big disappointment for our family. We signed our daughter up for ballet and were very happy when I found out her instructor was actually the owner of the studio. But what we ended up with was an owner who was there maybe half the time, otherwise the had subs or mixed classes together and I don't even think any instructor even bothered to know her name. The viewing screen in lobby was a joke as you can not see your own child unless they are the one right near camera and even then, you have to be standing up, right at screen to see anything. In 4 months, my daughter learned very little and was never excited to go. I kept her in to try and finish semester and see if it got better, but it kept getting worse. What I concider really bad is when I called to see about getting her out mid-semester, they were more than happy to let her out and credit me what i already paid. Though I appreciate the convenience, I thought it very strange they didn't even ask why, or what they could have done. Like they didn't even care, like we didn't matter. Total waste of money. Wish we would have tried parks and rec instead! read more
