A more reassuring and collaborative approach would have made a big difference. Shortly after, I was informed that the service would cost $160, which was significantly higher than the quoted estimate I received when booking. This was not clearly explained beforehand, which added to my frustration. During the application process, I felt the service was rushed and lacked attention to detail. The color was slapped onto my head --within about 15-20 minutes--and it felt careless at times, as I ended up with color on my sweatshirt and hands. The overall experience came across as unprofessional, and it gave me the impression that the service was being hurried, possibly due to the time of day. Afterward, I was taken to the shampoo station. They were so fun to talk to and also really listened to everyone's visions. My husband's mom isn't a big makeup wearer but wanted to get a set of fake lashes glued on and didn't know how, so they even did that for her using their lashes for free. She was pleased. Kikki offered airbrush or regular base for makeup which was nice to have the option. I have a small tattoo on my collarbone I wanted gone for the wedding and Cielo covered it up perfectly. Seriously you could not see it. Ben killed it with the hair and was touching girls hair up close to the end for the girls who went earlier. Finally, working with Liz as the point of contact at Refined Beauty for booking was wonderful. She communicated throughout the entire process, updated my contract when we had a few changes to hair/makeup count, answered all my questions, made my wedding day MU&H timeline for me, checked in after my trial to get my honest thoughts and then checked in before the wedding again to confirm everything. I asked if I could reschedule, but she stopped communicating with me. Then I received a phone call from her. I asked if there was any way we could work through using my deposit because she does beautiful work and I was called rude and yelled at for the 8 min conversation. I booked my $100 deposit with her 13 months + ago. I suppose I expected some sort of communication on how I should prep myself for the appointment, but there was no communication, she says she has 100s of clients and she can't keep track of everyone and that's why she doesn't book a year out. Next time, tell me that when rebooking a me a year out! I should have never been rebooked for a year out, nice of her to try and reschedule me however you can't pick and choose when you're going to be accommodating. A year ago was the best time to manage the situation. I should have been canceled and ,when ready, set up with a new consultation with deposit. Can't two people agree that miscommunications happen and how can we have happy business owners and happy clients? I made sure to wait 24 hours then speak, I'm left with ill feelings after her phone call to me. Her pushy tone and belittling words unsettled me. It was poor "people practice". They get some background information to make sure that you don't get any bad reactions and she checked with me through the process to make sure I was comfortable. The process took about an hour in total but it went by quickly as I chatted with the lash artist and she talked me through everything that she was doing. I was also given some aftercare tips and informed about eyelash growth cycles and I walked away feeling really good. You also get a eyelash tint with the eyelash lift. The bed they have you lay on is quite comfortable, they have you take off your shoes and jacket before getting on the table. No complaints there but it was a bit cold in the studio so I was quickly cold and looking forward to the session being done so that I could put my coat and scarf back on. One other thing I am also not a fan of is that they have no dividers in between their beds or anything. I am personally used to any beauty appointments being one on one and in private rooms or at least having more distance between me and the other customers. This studio is small, so if you are like me just be aware that you are close to other customers getting beauty services.
