Need to get some late night adult drinks?…read more This is your jam! My wife wanted a little something after volunteering at our lodge when we were done with Bingo Thursday night. At 8:30 pm. she said, I wonder if there is a liquor store open? Some people laughed. I said, "Let's check YELP." After a few filter adjustments, boom. We found a store open till 10:00 pm. nice. It was nice to relax a little more at the lodge and not stress about getting to the store asap. After relaxing a little too long, we made it to the store just in time... and so did a bunch of other people rushing in as the last few minutes before closing wound down. The employees must be used to this happening as they were pleasant and polite the entire time. And now I have a new late night spot. It pays to use the YELP APP. It can really save you time.

Sometimes I come in here just for a whiff of how good the store smells…read more Never mind that the flagship store on 820 SW Alder is a true Portland icon, it's been around some 100 years selling pipe smoking essentials that create that fragrance that I lust after and the store in the Alphabet District has been in business for 12 years. Both delight me with their alluring fragrance. Both have one of the finest selections of cigars you'll find anywhere. Additionally, both have an extremely well appointed section of reading material both foreign and domestic. One last thing. If you need to wrap a small gift, consider buying one of the beautiful cigar boxes they have for sale, wrapping the box in a satin ribbon and voilà! Easy and elegant gift wrapping. 2017 - Review # 4

Since, someone else has already given a 2 star review, I will do the same, even if I think they deserve less. I'm not a Karen... just a nice guy who wants some normal treatment. The customer service here is super annoying, especially in the era of coronavirus. I get the rules in place, but they were quite rude about how far we were supposed to stand and how many people were allowed to be inside. Look, if you're scared of getting covid19, just close your shop. Otherwise, treat your customers with some respect. I am willing to appease to your restrictions. Some normal cordiality is the least of expectations. We're not talking about Charles Dickens here. Also, I think part of good customer service is empathy, which they lacked. They were treating me like I'm some Oliver Twist. My driver's license expired in the middle of coronavirus, and I had no means of getting it renewed because the DMV, a state-level government agency was closed. Sometimes, it's okay to use common sense. I'm in my early thirties. Just take my money. I want to give it to you. I'm not a damn minor. I would likely not return due to shitty service and shitty attitude. They don't have that great of a selection either. I was straightforward and honest about my expired license. It's no one's fault I couldn't get it renewed. It's their fault for providing shitty customer service. In fact, if they just politely refused by apologizing, I would have been better off. But they were quite rude about not taking my money, as well. I was polite. I'm usually polite because I grew up in a Vietnamese family. We are polite.

The employee was very knowledgeable and my friend bought a box along with several other items to a tune of $287.00 and we left well served. I went back to take a few shots for a glowing Yelp review and was treated like a homeless bum who took a crap in the middle of the store. A red eyed shrew could learn from this one's breath taking abrasiveness. After several decades of living, I have never been treated is such a rude manner. The employee here threw me out after I took a picture of the store interior for what was going to be a great review. I explained that I wanted the photo for a better shout out than their current 3 stars that they have on their Yelp page, but that didn't matter. She kept up the blistering abuse, even after I deleted the photo and apologized for taking an unauthorized photo her, (even though it was a photo of the interior, she just happened to be in it). It's obvious that this person has been abused by the paparazzi. Sadly, I can't give them a negative star rating.
