Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic - That's the most that hand would close. Occupational therapy helped, but the middle finger still won't close all the way.

A routine surgery gone bad…read more I had three trigger finger surgeries performed by Anderson. The first one on my thumb was hugely successful and led me to have the other two fingers done some years later. Surgery was scheduled with the 'new' hand guy and performed on the right hand with no apparent complications. After removing dressing I notice the incision was not sutured so that the sides lined up resulting in a pucker in my palm and even a misalignment of the line that goes across the palm. I bright this up with my surgeon and he brushed me off saying it would 'flatten' after some time. Ok, so two weeks later I go for the left hand, same procedure. I was in the room and they were prepping me for the surgery. The doctor came in the room and injected me with the numbing solution, and I commented, "last time your assistant cleaned my whole arm with butadiene solution prior to injection." This created a bit of a stir as they scurried to clean the area after they made the injections. Surgery was performed and I went on my way. Fast forward 10 days. Recovery was going ok, although right hand very stiff but left (most recent) all of the sudden became very stiff and painful. I went to their office the next morning and from the parking lot they told me that they were too busy to see me and that only my surgeon could see me do come back tomorrow. Disappointedly I left with my swollen and very painful hand. I returned the next morning in worse shape. The surgeon didn't even get me into the exam room and told me to admit myself to the hospital. He said I had an infection in my hand and it needed to be cleaned out and I needed strong antibiotics. The hand had become quite inflamed and very painful but that was just the beginning. Surgery was very invasive adding three more incisions, rooting around and flushing around the tendons and then not stitching back up but letting the wounds heal from an open state. I met with infectious disease staff and they recommended strong antibiotics while they tried to sort out my specific infection. Two days after surgery, the surgeon visited, and performed a probing and painful examination of my hand with no gloves. Two days later I was released from the hospital with a very painful hand. I went back for follow up with the surgeon and he said give both hands time and recommend occupational therapy. 20 sessions later, I can't make a tight fist with either hand, have lost grip strength, and the tendons are so tight they lift in the palm of my hands when I do close my fists. Very uncomfortable every day. The misaligned sutures never 'flattened' out and the trigger finger surgeries were a total fail. I'd never recommend having it done to anybody. I don't think my hands will ever be the same, but Anderson got paid in full and showed no concern whatsoever after I walked out the door.

its ok. I never have time with my actual Physical Therapist instead they put me with the "techs"…read more There is only 2 boys I usually see and they have them running around doing everything. I believe they're understaffed but they have so many physical therapist I don't understand why they aren't hands on and giving their patients more time instead of passing it off to the techs.

I have been going to Carol since about June 2020. I was referred to her by my Plastuc Surgeon for…read morelymphatic drainage massages after 360 liposuction. That was my 4th surgery for revisions after having a bilateral mastectomy with immediate DIEP flap reconstruction due to breast cancer. When I started going to Carol my torso area was hard a brick! I was behind the 8 ball in a major way with getting my massages done (about 8 months) due to excruciating wide spread joint pain from fibromyalgia. By the time Carol got her hands on my I was twisted & knotted up MESS! Did you catch that...I WAS... Carol is AMAZING!!! I travel about 50 min to get to her & do it happily! She is worth her weight in gold! She is HIGHLY skilled & how she connects with your body using her fingers, hands, forearms & elbows as her guide will blow your mind! We are now working on scar tissue. NO internal fiber can escape Carol's hands!! She is like a medal detector. Once she gets a "hit" & her "radar" goes off, she gets DOWN in those nooks & crannies & will set you FREE!! Before Carol got her hands on me I could not, without joint pain, twist my torso area, lift my arms above my head, bend over or lift my legs. Now...NOW...I can get into yoga poses I could only DREAM of before!!! Oh yeah....she gives homework assignments. Mine was to do yoga. I communicate with her just like I would my Drs. I don't add to anything without first consulting them. I wanted to start Palaties but she advised against it because palaties is designed to strengthen muscles & at the stage I was in at the time, that would as she explained would strengthen the disfunction I was already dealing with which is the exact opposite of what her goal was for me at that time. If you are suffering in any way in your body, PLEASE reach out to Carol. Help IS out there & she CAN help! Your body will THANK YOU! You owe it to yourself to get your life BACK & to get BACK to the things that pain keeps you from. You will KNOW when you've been TOUCHED BY CAROL!

Not sure I understand some of the complaints. The front desk staff in Alexandria knew who I was…read moremeeting with with and gave me the appropriate forms prior to meeting with him. I took in my X-Rays and had a very detailed conversation with him about the areas of concern that I had. He did an evaluation, used heat packs and did a very good job of adjusting my back and neck without pain. A massage in any chiropractor's office is targeted, and they are generally referred to as Swedish or Therapeutic. Who goes to a Chiropractor for a massage? I have Massage Therapists for massage and a Chiropractor for adjustments. Would never occur to me to go to a Podiatrist for reflexology or a Dermatologist to get my eyebrows waxed! All in all Dr. Mac is very professional and obviously many years of training. If you are looking for a good Chiropractor who won't beat you up, he's the guy.

Came in with kbg deal, 3 massages for $30. It was not what I expected. This place is not worth it,…read moreeven tho it sounds like a good deal. 1) you can't park in the parking lot in front of the building, if you do you will get a ticket. 2) Dr Mac's name is not listed on the building directory. But all you know is that you are looking for suite 200. You get on the elevator to the 2nd floor, and it takes you right in front of suite 200. Then it gets awkward. You sit there waiting in front of a receptionist who isn't really the receptionist for Dr Mac. There's just a bunch of random stuff going on, nothing related to massage or chiropractic care. 3) your "hands on massage" lasts 5 to 10 min. After that he will use a regular vibratory massager to massage your back (which is something you really could've done yourself at home) 4) if you've got knots in your back, proceed with caution! This guy digs his fingernail into your back to "break the knots" (where do they do that at?!) 5) next he will try to assess your alignment. He may tell you that one leg is shorter than the other. He will use some type of hammer like tool to knock on random joints in your lower back and butt (which really doesn't do anything at all) 6) on to the actual adjustment- its not very thorough. I've had other chiropractors do a much better job. You leave there feeling like there was so much more that could've been cracked. He will say that he only does light force adjustments. 7) He promotes his package deals, especially the diamond package at $900/year. 8) He will tell you that your vitamins are not good enough, in order to sell his own vitamins 9) Not once did I see him wash his hands. 10) he is only at this location 3 times a week. 11) After the 3rd visit, he will give you an analysis of your health, which is a bunch of bs. 12) I could tell you more, but i think you get the point. Bottom line: save your $30 for something else.
