I recently had acupuncture for a recovering ankle/foot fracture. I was well past being in a cast…read moreand the doctor had given me the clear to walk on the ankle and use it normally, as well as some physical therapy instructions to do at home in order to regain full mobility of the joint. I was still experiencing quite a bit of swelling and some pain and discoloration/bruising in the foot at the time I decided to try acupuncture. Clair, the owner of Omdpeace Acupuncture, lives near me and insisted that acupuncture would expedite healing of my ankle and increase circulation overall. Of course I was hesitant to try it because I'm not a fan of needles. But I conceded because I was really tired of my ankle slowing me down. During our appointment, Clair applied the needles quite quickly, so that I barely even noticed a small "prick" sensation. Once the needles are applied to the correct points, you don't even feel them. She worked quickly and was very professional. I was left to rest (with needles positioned) under a heat lamp (which improves circulation) for about 45 minutes. Clair applied a towel over my eyes which had scent applied to it and made it very relaxing. Acupuncture carries a stigma of not being "real medicine" however, I assure you, it has directly contributed to the healing of my ankle. She also did some slight cupping and blood-letting around my foot (which actually made an almost immediate impact in how swollen and uncomfortable my foot felt). After the cupping, I could literally feel my foot/ankle cooling and an increased sense of circulation. My foot/ankle is actually completely healed at this point. I have full mobility and can apply pressure to it and I have even jogged a few times on it with no pain whatsoever. I feel that the Clair's acupuncture contributed directly to an expeditious healing. For the future, I definitely feel that I'll be using acupuncture for overall wellness and circulation (especially after weight training or working out) as it promotes your body's own circulatory and lymphatic processes. I would definitely recommend Clair for acupuncture and it's myriad of benefits on your body. It is also an added bonus that my insurance covered the procedure.
