I credit her to being the only reason I was able to chase my 1.5 year old around until I went into labor during my 36th week. She also got baby b to flip so they were both head down when I went into labor. -While the pregnancy hormones were loosening up all of my joints, she straightened out a neck injury from a car accident several years ago that was causing numbness in my hand. -She adjusted my twins shortly after birth and helped very much with reflux and gas. One of my twins needed a little more help getting control of his upper body, after a rough birth. Not only has she spent extra time getting him sorted out, but she has been working on the funny shape of his skull, and I am confident that he will not need a shaping helmet thanks entirely to her. - when the whole family came down with a cold this fall, Dr. Palmer adjusted us all and lessened the severity and duration of the illness. We decided to do a mix of Belavi Facelift Massage and reflexology for my first session. The Belavi is a mixture of gentle facial products combined with a facial massage. In fact, the facial massage is hard to describe. It felt more like a lift. At the end, my face was tone, clean, free of congestion and overall felt and looked "lifted." The reflexology at the end was extremely relaxing and my legs and toes were free of cramps. I absolutely will see Anna again - her hands are like magic!

I received more hand-on attention at Dynamics than I've ever received before. Lots of places show you exercises and let you go thru the process pretty much on your own. Not here. The patient is the focus. They respect patient privacy (intake interview in a closed room rather than out in the treatment area). Good adherence to covid 19 guidelines. This is a small facility but it was not over scheduled and I was never near another patient. Karen and Megan are consistently pleasant, skilled and on-task. I've been to local PT practices where the therapists spent more time flirting and talking about their weekends than with the patients. One facility allowed an employer's toddler to run around the treatment area and did intake interviews surrounded by other patients. None of that nonsense here. If I need physical therapy in the future I will be happy to return to Dynamics in Haymarket.

Two star rating, because the massage room appeared to be clean other than the stray dog hairs I removed from the sheets prior to getting on her table. I could hear all of the shuffling, voices, and closing doors in the hallway, as her space is in an office building right off of the main entrance. Diane didn't ask me what my problems areas were or what I wanted her to work on prior to the massage. Instead she spent about 10 minutes feeling reflexology points on my feet. Diane said that she sensed an issue with my digestive system based on the point on my foot and asked if I've had issues. I told her I don't have any digestive issues and that my problem areas are my shoulders and back, but she was so concerned about a potential polyp I might have and not know about that she barely worked on my shoulders and back. When she did touch my shoulders and upper back the pressure was a 1/10 despite asking her to apply firm pressure to try to get some knots out. It was unpleasant to lie on the table slathered in massage oil only to have her lightly stroke my arms, legs, and feet. I would have been better off working my lacrosse ball into my knots in my back and shoulders and taking a bath at home with Epsom salts- and that would have been free! At the end of the massage she placed hot towels on my back and left me there to "relax." This was the highlight of my massage, although the five or eight minutes were part of my 60 minutes. For somebody who has back pain or tightness, the hot towels would be beneficial at the beginning of the massage to help loosen up sore muscles. My lower back ached when I got up from the table. I've been for upward of one hundred massages and this is the only time I felt worse afterward. Diane didn't make any effort to customize the massage to my needs. It's very apparent she goes through her routine, in which you only receive about twenty five minutes or so of her actively massaging you. If you have any soreness or problem areas, save your money and see a more capable LMT who will work on your problem areas as you express them instead of ignoring your assessment of your own body and using reflexology to identify bogus problem areas.

Referral to the STAR group (lead by Katherine Braun) was a total bingo. Initial evaluation by Katherine was comprehensive and thoughtful, and I was helped by her printouts of beginning exercises to do at home. Ongoing therapy with Allison was personalized, effective, and encouraging, especially when I needed it most. Alison made videos of me doing several exercises I did at the facility, so I could repeat the exercises at home. That helped a lot. Allison is a professional gem. Am back to tennis! The entire professional and administrative staff is wonderful and supportive. This group deserves the outstanding respect they have earned, and they also have my deep gratitude. So I had had previous experience with this kind of treatment. The time I spent at Star was the best. To begin with, the facility is pleasant, with large windows, and very well laid out so that three or four therapists can work freely with patients with different levels of need. The atmosphere is welcoming and exudes a sense of community, working together to produce comfort and high performance. Sam Dozier, receptionist and Therapist Aide, greets people warmly, tirelessly arranges schedules to suit your convenience, and throughout your time there offers compassionate support. I worked alternately with Kyra Corradin and Aysha Ehsan. To sum up, I found them to be kind, caring, and focused. They are professionals with a special understanding of the power of movement to refresh and restore. Although work in the sessions is directed to particular areas of the body, the target is the whole person, not just a sore neck or knee. Kyra and Aysha began each session by asking how I was feeling that day with an interest not only in physical issues, but also in my spirits and general outlook. Their goal was to make me feel better through movement specifically directed to areas needing attention. If I indicated pain in a particular area, they would begin by massaging that spot, literally demonstrating the common expression, "I can feel your pain." I always did feel better after my sessions. However, both therapists strongly emphasized the importance of taking personal responsibility for learning and doing prescribed exercises at home. I thought they were great teachers, very good practitioners of their trade, and good at motivating me to carry on the lessons ourselves.
