I am new to the area and booked massage services at Dumfries Massage Spa. Renee runs this business out of a neighborhood home where she has a separate business entrance for the which made it easy to find her spacious and professional spa room. Renee gave me a great massage where she respectfully treated a sensitive area on my back with reduced pressure which made the full experience very enjoyable. My friend brought me a gift certificate for a 60 min massage. I've called and left a message no one returned my call. I sent an inquiry on Sept. 18th in order to schedule an appointment. They did not respond via email until Sept 28th. I was told they had limited times and days. So after conversing back and forth via email she provided a date and in which I responded would work. On the same day I confirmed with her and she never responded back. I sent an email confirming the appointment was still taking place on the morning of my appointment. In an abundance of caution I went up there the day of my appointment just in case and no one was there. I'm assuming because they have already been paid for the service that they feel they don't need to be professional which is really unfortunate. So beware if you buy a gift certificate for someone for this business. read more

Great massage, I was having some issues with tightness/soreness in my shoulder and arm. I felt immediately better after the massage and within the next day that whole area was a lot looser and the soreness was gone. This was my first massage and I was made to feel very comfortable during the process as I was unsure about what exactly I was supposed to do lol. My only complaint, not really a complaint but I didn't see an option to tip when it was time to pay by card and I didn't have cash on me so I couldn't unfortunately. Renee was an incredible therapist. She was considerate of the pressure and made sure to focus on the areas that needed help. She was honest with me about exercises I could do to loosen tension and even offered to show me how to use the golf ball on my feet. I've never had a therapist pay such careful and generous attention to my neck. She found my problem areas in shoulders, neck and lower back quickly and spent a lot of time working out the knots. One of the best massages I've ever had! Renee almost immediately found the knots and used just the right amount of pressure to alleviate the pain I had been feeling. She was incredibly skillful. My only complaint was that I should have booked a longer service. The location was small but great use of the space and the setup was very professional and comfortable. I could hear the bass and drum from a church service in the same building but Renee acknowledged that when I arrive, offered to reschedule and/or do everything should could to minimize the sound. I opted to keep the appointment and she played spa sounds to help cover the sound. She was extremely accommodating and even with the slight distraction it was still a great experience. Renee is amazing! I had a problem with my shoulder and my hip. She was able to locate and isolate the exact area that I was having problems with. She is extremely professional and attentive. It's a great feeling when the massage therapist actually listens to you! Before her, my shoulder would start to hurt again in a week or so, but now it doesn't hurt at all! I found this place while searching on Yelp for a place to get a good massage. I've had terrible luck and after reading the yelp reviews, I decided to give this place a try even though there were only 2 known reviews at the time. I am SO happy that I did! Renee is amazing and she's everything that I have been searching for. This is an independent business and to me, its so wonderful not to be hounded with pressure to join a membership, or having to re-book appointments months in advance for a particular massage therapist. Not to mention the website makes it super easy to book appointments. I also like that the prices are clearly stated so their are no surprises or extra hidden fees - you know exactly what you are getting and for what price which makes it super easy and stress free. The massage quality itself is top of the line. It's so hard to find a massage therapist who just 'gets it' and Renee does. I don't know if she gets it from experience or from her schooling, but I feel like she is just a natural at what she does.
