She helped every step of the way, from planning, to suggesting vendors like the DJ and officiant, to helping with set-up and adding her own little touches to the tables. On the day, Lindy helped calm me down when I was nervous, kept everyone in touch among the two parties when we were getting ready, but while she worked she stayed so under the radar, quietly and almost unseen just cleaning up and making sure everything was running smoothly; I cannot sing Lindy's praises enough! The venue itself is sublime - rustic, beautiful, intimate but open and with plenty of space for any party. We had around 50 guests which is way below capacity but the way Lindy and her team arranged the tables made it feel just right. For a fairly cold evening (January wedding), the fire pit and the two heaters they provided were most welcome! We even had a most welcome and blessed visit from site cat Ninja who was a big hit! Everything was just utterly perfect, all our guests said this was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. I'm not sure it's exactly like riding a bike--but Karen made me feel completely at ease from the start. Kiwi, my horse, was incredibly patient and gentle with me. I swear she knew I needed a little extra TLC! It made the whole experience so enjoyable and stress-free. I even got to do a tiny bit of trotting, which was such a fun bonus. Laser tag, climbing wall, arts & crafts and pony bucks for the store - she was living her best life! Tips: bring a handheld fan - the days are hot! And a cowboy hat (you can buy them there at drop-off). And bring a fitted twin bed sheet! The wagon mattresses were dusty. Plus a blanket or sleeping bag. Jeans and boots for riding . $100-$125 in pony bucks (or less and you can monitor their spending... money goes fast on snacks, drinks, fans, souvenirs, etc.)

Prior to camp, we arranged a simple system where he could signal me through a snack purchase if he needed help. Early on the third day, he used that signal. I called the camp and did not receive a response. After approximately eight hours, I called again and requested to speak with the camp director, I was eventually connected with the camp director, who indicated there had been an issue earlier that day involving my son and wrong medication being given. After insisting, I was allowed to speak with my son. He was clearly distressed and informed me that he had been given the wrong medication that morning. Instead of his usual over-the-counter allergy medication, he was given a high-dose antidepressant not prescribed to him and not intended for a child his age. According to the information provided to me, staff at the health office realized the error and attempted to have him self induce vomiting with a spoon, (he was instructed to stick the spoon down his throat), which was unsuccessful. They then contacted poison control for guidance. At no point during this process was I notified. After speaking with my son, I decided to pick him up immediately. When I arrived, I found communication from staff to be limited, and I was unable to get clear or detailed information about the incident despite asking direct questions. I requested to speak with the camp director, who eventually met with me. During that interaction, I found his demeanor to be notably nonchalant given the circumstances. The situation--a child being given the wrong medication and the parent not being notified--was presented in a way that did not reflect the level of concern I would have expected. When I attempted to ask for clarification and express concern about what had happened, the conversation became extremely tense. There was a clear difference in how seriously the situation was being viewed, and the discussion escalated into a heated verbal exchange. Given the lack of clear communication and the response to what I consider a serious safety issue, I made the decision to withdraw my son from the camp that same night. Following the incident, I contacted the camp multiple times. I was initially told that a refund would not be provided, though I was offered a credit for a future summer. After further communication, I did receive a refund. I also attempted to reach out to members of the organization's leadership to share concerns about the incident. This experience was extremely concerning, particularly given the seriousness of a medication error involving a child and the lack of timely parent notification.

After reading a magazine article (.http://www.ridingmagazine.com/riding_onlinemag/articles/2011_05/delrio.htm) I visited Del Rio. and have been here since July. Pluses Owner lives on site. They feed 3 x a day and use good quality hay. My horse is a MO Foxtrotter that needs a gaited trainer. All licensed trainers are allowed on site. My trainer, who knows more than I do, thinks this place is great. Closeness to home from Oceanside is 15 minutes. I dont want to have to travel far or I would consider Del Mar. Property is gated. also very important to me. ( the facility next door had 3 horses escape and killed on the road) Very nice turnout with grass. Some stables had no pasture and this was key for me. I want my horse to be able to eat grass(. the most pleasurable thing a horse wants to do is eat grass) and this keeps my horse happy and calm. In the past month, 3 boarders with multiple horses moved into homes with stables, so there is space at Del Rio. the boarding rates are very fair. Minuses. no trails. You have to trailer 10 minutes to Guajolme or Margarita River. Del Rio does have a stream on property for water training and they also have a mountain that is steep and for me, a bit scary but great for that type of training. Currently. about 2/3 or boarders are Western and 1/3 english. As I see in most facilities, everyone is very nice. I've visited most of the barns in this area including Vista. Compared to the other places, you should put Del Rio on your list to see.

I DO NOT recommend the beginner riding lesson program lead by Vicky. I am an experience rider with…read moreover 10 years of experience who was looking to get back in the saddle after a few years off. I got an intro pack of 4 lessons with my 2 novice friends. There was almost no instruction. We were asked to get the horses from their stalls the first day, not even knowing the layout of the barn or what the horses looked like. After some convincing we were lead to the stalls by Vicky's helpers (these are children 12 and under working for discounts on their own lessons or volunteer?). These helpers are not very knowledgeable, because they are only children learning themselves. Luckily being experienced, I was able to instruct my 2 friends on picking hooves and other essential grooming/tacking procedures. Not sure what happens when I'm not there... grooming equipment also well past expiration, see photo. There is one college aged girl attempting to supervise the tacking process, but one lesson is untacking while the next is tacking up and there's no way she can be everywhere at once. Which means more than 10 horses/people/saddles at a time. Impossible task for the poor girl. Vicky no where to be seen. I also found myself having to whisper basic instruction to my friends during the lesson who were struggling and getting no good help. It's impossible for one trainer to manage 6 beginners, but she wasn't even telling them the basics! Her approach was harsh and confusing. One of the young students even cried during one lesson. It feels as though Vicky is trying to make as much money as possible before her swiftly approaching retirement. There are an insane amount of horses in the program, and you never know which you will be riding that day. This can be difficult for someone just starting out and doesn't understand the different personalities. Most lesson horses are privately owned and are being used for discounted boarding rates. If you are an experienced rider, you will likely be given the difficult to manage horses. Probably with bridles that's they arnt used to. If I were the owner of one of those horses I would be appalled. Lastly, one of the 4 lessons we were told there would be less intersection because the horses were used in a show the previous day (very unprofessional). All around terrible. Pretty facility tho!

I was able to purchase online and text a number to schedule my rider Unfortunately, our first lesson was rained out for a few weeks. Despite the circumstances I was still given a courtesy text about the rain and rescheduling for the next week. Excellent and timely communication--a big plus for me! Our first lesson was with Vicky and she was great! After arriving about 20 minutes early as requested, my daughter and I learned why they need to brush the horse first along with a few other things that was good to know. Helmets are available for use as well. Vicky was excellent in communicating with my daughter the entire time and listened when she spoke--another plus for me! The lesson was short enough to keep my daughters attention and long enough for her to ride and have fun. I feel we will continue our lessons here and look forward to working with some of the other trainers! Grounds are beautiful and the horses look happy here.
