My favorite place in my trip to Alaska! Great place for both children and adults! It's a big place and they have so many different animals here. Tour guide was very informative and well done. Learned so much, it was interesting feeding reindeers. I loved touching the rabbits and baby reindeers. Live bee colony was unique. They have a cute little snack shop with various drinks and pastries available. They even have a little play area for toddlers which was a nice touch. If I had more time, I probably would've gone back again.

The Reindeer Farm is located in Palmer, Alaska. Our family got tickets to their annual "Fall Family Fun Event." Tickets were only $15/pp for a 2hr session and SO much was included. It was a cold but sunny day for a fall event. We were so grateful. We came late (of course), and ended up having a little over an hour to enjoy the fun. We had to be pretty swift and orderly to be able to make it to every section. My 3yr old did a pony ride, bouncy horses, go-cart/4wheeler ride. She fed reindeers and cows. We did a horse carriage ride as a fam, played games, walked thru a reptile enclosure, walked thru a haunted house, and lastly the pumpkin patch. I believe the only thing we didn't do was a tractor driven fam ride. Next time! There were several places to grab food and snacks. I could not believe the food truck I've been looking for all summer was there! Perfect, perfect, perfect! Plenty porta-potties and even bathrooms with plumbing. All staff and volunteers encountered were super welcoming and helpful. I loved that you had to exit thru their gift shop (reminded me of the lower 48). We didn't get anything but I loved that they took every opportunity to make that mula! I respect it! We would absolutely visit again.

Reindeer and friends, don't pet the fluffy cows but you can pet the highland cows! Nice for all ages and a beautiful view!

Our tour guide, Mike, was great. Made everyone in the group feel included. Loved being able to get up close to the animals. Such a great family time

Sign up for the VIP tour! It was the highlight of our Alaskan vacation! The owner of the farm provided an experience that will not be forgotten. We got to feed and interact with several animals and learn there history of how they came to the farm.

    Pioneer peak and the grinch.

It was very cold, but we were bundled up. The animals were friendly and looked well taken care of. It was a beautiful setting as we expected but the extra treat was the grinch. The actor was so enthusiastic and funny. He got us all laughing and really set the mood in a cheery festive way. Santa was also great. Would definitely recommend for out of state visitors but wear very warn clothes.

An amazing experience. Dana was our tour guide and she was generous with the animal feed. She was knowledgeable, patient, and fun to listen to. Despite the wind and chill, the kids had a great time with the pacing, information, and hot cocoa. All the animals were interesting and engaging. So many new memories for all. Plus, the most beautiful backdrop with the snowy mountains.

Fun little activity in Palmer -- it was so nice to get to see the animals up close, they were cute and obviously well treated! Staff on the self guided tour were helpful and knew all the animals' names. Views of the mountains from here are gorgeous. Did the self guided tour, if I went back I'd probably want to do one of the fuller tours where you get to do more!

What a fun few hours meeting with and petting animals. The helpers that they have are friendly and knowledgeable. I do wish they had a few more as there are animals I was curious about that had no one. Perhaps is because it is an animal that are not pet. While you can let many of the animals and technically only two you cannot it looks like it is not recommended for many as well. It was a great experience all in all even though we didn't pet. It was super interesting seeing these animals close up and personal. This place is definitely worth the $15.

DO NOT MISS THIS!!! I am so glad I decided to go to this reindeer farm. It was an hour away, but totally worth it! I wasn't sure what to expect, but what a delight! The family who owns the farm is so nice. Make sure you do the guided tour for just $2 more. You will learn so much about the farm and reindeer themselves. They are the sweetst animals! Camden was a great guide. We started the tour in a barn, and were given some history about the farm and reindeer. Fascinating! Then we were taken to each area of the farm and given information about each animal, and the opportunity to feed and touch them. They were all so eager to be petted. Our tour lasted over an hour and was very informative. You can then hang out as long as you wanted. A lot of baby reindeer made the day so great. May was the perfect time to visit besides the bitter wind. Easy to find, and so worth the trip.

Can't say enough good about this place! Perfect experience for our family and our guide was the best! Highly recommend for any age group! Take the VIP tour!!!!

What a fun experience! We spent most of our Alaska trip down near Seward so this was an incredible opportunity to see some of the other land animals in AK. Dana was our tour guide on the VIP tour, and she was very humorous and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed all the opportunities to feed the animals. We finished the tour with a hot coffee in the cafe. Highly recommend.

It was great! The grandchildren enjoyed it and the haunted house was fun for the little ones. I will definitely take my grandchildren back. Would like to experience it in the summer.

That said, this is a very modest zoo. There is only one small gift shop, which some may appreciate since the focus stays on the animals, but it also means there are limited amenities overall. If you are expecting a large zoo with multiple exhibits, food options, or lots of interactive elements, this may feel a bit underwhelming. One important thing to note is the terrain. There are several steep hills and loose gravel paths, so visitors should be cautious, especially with children, strollers, or anyone with mobility concerns. Good footwear is definitely recommended, and I would avoid running or rushing through the grounds. In the winter, the zoo offers lights so you can visit after dark, which is a unique feature and adds a different atmosphere. I also recommend downloading the virtual map ahead of time, as signage is somewhat limited and it helps with navigation. Overall, it is a pleasant, simple zoo experience that highlights local wildlife

Which, speaking of - the animals here are incredibly beautiful. I was surprised at how interactive and active the animals were. The coyotes howl back, the reindeers are clacking antlers, and the wolves will stalk you along the fence. Entry for Alaska residents is $16. There is a small gift shop and coffee shop with good hot chocolate.

This was...an experience to say the least…read more 1) The Wilderness, Wildlife, and Glacier tour was insanely overpriced. Get a rental car and do it yourself, you'll save a ton of money. We did the add on glacier cruise, could have booked it cheaper on our own. Again. Just do these things on your own. Trip started in Anchorage, drove us to the wildlife conservation center. We had about an hour there, so basically only time to watch the bears. We never even looked at the other animals just due to lack of time. Then we drove to the Portage Glacier Lodge for lunch that you pay for yourself, on our way we stopped at two spots to take pics, again places you could just stop at. Food was insanely overpriced. Then to the cruise, the cruise itself is an hour long and seeing the glacier is cool, but the ship and crew were the most rinky dink operation I've ever seen. 2) our tour guide locked the keys to the van inside the van. She did not even call to get help until over an hour after discovering the keys were locked inside. We had to wait at the lodge for almost 2 hours before someone came to bring her the spare keys. During this time no one communicated with us regarding a plan and we were just sitting there waiting. Tour guide "Captain C" was nowhere to be found. She then drove us quite erratically back to Anchorage, I presume out of stress. The pics she took aren't great, not like the ones on other reviews and are mostly blurry. 3) Book with a better group. This was a waste of money.

Best tour we could have hoped for on our first day in Alaska! (did the Wilderness, Wildlife,…read moreGlacier Experience from Anchorage tour) First of all, Grace, our tour guide, was beyond amazing. Not only was she very knowledgeable, pleasant, a good driver, but she also treated us all amazing: she remembered all our names, took photos of each of us on our phones with the views in the background, did a little trivia game at the end of the tour, and took wilderness photos on her camera and shared them with us within 2 hours from the end of tour. And they were great! Secondly, the stops were really fun. We spotted a moose mom with her baby in the wild, saw a few bald eagles, some sheep too. We also had a tasty lunch at Portage Glacier Lodge on one of the stops. Thirdly, the rainy weather didn't affect our experience as all because of Grace's non ending good mood & cool headed nature. Even though the glacier cruise at the end got canceled due to awfully strong winds, we did other stops and had fun. Be flexible and have fun! (the last photos of the animals up close are by Grace, all credits to her!)
