They were absolutely phenomenal! They tailored the experience around our interest and experience (and maturity level to some extent). The guides took hundreds of photos and videos so we're could remain present in the moment and get the most is out the experience. They were all so much fun. She was a wealth of knowledge and such a fun person to spend the day with. Everywhere we went, she seemed to know everything. She interspersed personal anecdotes allowing us to get to know her better and to understand more about the area. Everything was included in the price of the tour. Lunch (of your choice - not just preset options), a beer at the brewery, and admission to the nature center were all taken care of. There were also snacks and water available in the van. We got lucky with a small group (4 people including us!), but the van only holds 13 people - much better than the giant coach busses! V, our guide, was informative and helped take pictures of my family! They pick up and drop off at your hotel. Not too sure about the water bottles though. After you are done drinking the tap water, you have to return the bottles for them to recycle. Although they use a dishwasher, it seems a bit strange for me to share bottles with other people.

I can say I am VERY glad we did, it is well run-safety always an issue with helicopters and winds, white outs and such. Once in the air and feeling the winds move us around between tight snow capped cliffs; I felt some anxiety. Where we left from (headquarters) was chilly but no snow, where we landed in 18" of new snow from over night...hello. It was like a different world, kind of in a basin with snow capped mountains all around..beautiful! The dogs are leashed to their dog houses and were very excited we had come to allow them to run! Our driver was Dallas Seadey the winner of this years Iditarod as well as 5 other times! How cool is that? He granddad was in the first race ever so it's in his blood. Dallas was so friendly, down to earth and a treasure of information. He and the dogs are in sync. It was cold, believe me, but I wouldn't have missed this for anything!

I will admit to some trepidation as I am not in the best of shape (think too "round" and too used to sitting), but it worked out great! A perfect mixture of the fun of driving ATVs in the wilderness with stops to explore nature and learn the natural history of this special place. Started with Oliver picking is up at the hotel in Anchorage. In a brand new and spacious van. He is prompt, smart, and very engaging. A delightful conversationalist for the 40 min drive to the launch point. We were then provided excellent, new, or seemingly new equipment (gloves, gators, helmets, and ATVs) and then given a safety briefing, and operations review of the equipment. And we were off... A wonderful morning of trails through woods, through stream beds, up to glacial lakes. We saw bald eagles, 1 moose, some sheep, and felt like we were in a truly special place. The guides were careful to make sure we had a fabulous (and safe) time. On the way back, we came to the aid of a stranded Alaskan who had lost a belt on their ATV, and we brought him back out. It's difficult to imagine a better morning introduction to Alaska. Would recommend it to anyone...no, no everyone!

The Brand new ATV's were so much fun to drive in the Alaska Countryside! The guides do a great job of stopping and sharing knowledge about everything you see along the way! Everything is Included! Not only do they include lunch, snacks and water for the entire journey, they also outfit you with all the necessary outerwear you might need. As a larger guy I was a little nervous as most places don't carry my sizes. Not only could they accommodate me easily they even had sizes up to 5x. If you are on the fence about this tour definitely pull the trigger. They will take great care of you and this tour will be the highlight of your trip!

First we have done ATV in Mexico and in Hawaii on some amazing backdrops. This by far was the best. The machines were perfect and so was the equipment. They had great gear that kept a lot of the mud, dust and water out. It can't be avoided completely but they do everything in their power. I was hesitant about having to wear a helmet but have to say it is a must. As you fly through the trails at catch an errant tree limb this takes it like a champ. We loved getting to the glacier and then getting the option to polar plunge in the glacier. They made it easy and encouraged it. The food and snacks exceeded our expectations and we had the perfect amounts of stops. We saw 3 moose and two of the three were a mother/baby pair. So cute for sure. We saw eagles fly over head too. This was just amazing and the staff made us feel a part of their family. The sand dunes were a blast in these machines. So many good things to say.

Beware when booking at this lodge and how they handle cancellations…read more We booked a room at the Alaska Glacier Lodge because we wanted to do dogsledding and they offered a package for a room and credit for a heli tour. The main attraction was that the helicopter tour was owned and operated on the property so you don't have to go anywhere. We got a call 3 hours before departure that due to wind, the helicopter tour was canceled. We were made to understand that the lodge and tour are operated by the same company and would expect to be protected from being completely ripped off by the hotel. We were being reimbursed for the helicopter tour but not for our room. I understand weather can't be controlled but now we don't have a reason to stay at this hotel. With that being all we were there to do, and there was nothing else TO DO, there was no point for us to be there. The manager Liz was not sympathetic to this last minute cancelation and refused to give us a refund. We weren't going to waste one of our last days in Alaska so we decided not to unpack our car and drove to Girdwood where I luckily found another company that was offering dogsledding helicopter tours. Hopefully they can come to a better understanding that most people are staying at this lodge for their helicopter tours, as it is the only thing in the area to do.

First of all, it was the only company that replied to my emails, and I sent emails to all the helicopter companies. From the first point of contact (Thank you Doc), to the friendly staff (Thank you Nora) to the awesome pilot (Thank you Jeff) it was very professional but down to earth. I felt comfortable right from the start and appreciate the effort put forward by the team to pull off my surprise birthday charter for my husband. The team was in constant contact with me to ensure me that things were set up and ready to go on the day of our charter. My husband believed that we were going downtown for dinner and to have our pilot greet us at the door and say, "Happy Birthday" to my husband when we entered the building was just perfect. I chartered a helicopter to fly us to Whittier and drop us off, and the sites along the way were just breath taking. I can't thank the team enough for being so gracious and genuine. I plan on using them again for our Anniversary. You can take their regular charters or charter a flight to fit your special occassion, because this company will do their level best to make it a happy occassion and I can't thank them enough. We arranged our wedding with these guys to get married on Knik glacier, just outside of Palmer, AK. Our party was a total of 11 people (including us & photographer). We used two separate helicopters; 1 dedicated for my husband, myself, and our photographer, and the other helicopter shuttled two different loads of 4 people to the landing location to meet us there. After the ceremony, our party of 8 flew back to where we originally took off in Palmer, AK, while my husband, myself, & our photographer did additional landings nearby. Our party took the limo back to Anchorage, and my husband and I ended up taking the helicopter back to Anchorage to meet everyone for dinner. First off, Jarius was AMAZING and unbelievably helpful & patient with answering each and every stupid and petty question I had. He helped us plan everything to the last final detail, and was just a real pleasure to work with. Both of the pilots that flew that day (Jarius & Josiah) were the best, and really went above and beyond to make our day special. They picked a GORGEOUS location for the ceremony, right where two blue glacial rivers met and big green luscious hills nearby in the background. On the way back, Jairus landed the helicopter in a glacial pool and did a cool fly by when my husband and I were standing on the edge of the hill. Josiah was awesome, and was picking out cool & scenic areas for my husband and I to check out while we were exploring on the mountain. The people that work at Tanalian are really what makes that business so special. They are truly good hearted & go above and beyond to bring out the best. We had the best time for our wedding, thanks to them.

We started with the UTV trail ride, which was an absolute blast. The course took us through water crossings and a variety of on and off trail terrain, making for an exciting and unforgettable ride. The staff were outstanding from start to finish. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience fun, safe, and memorable for our whole family. The entire experience was well-organized, smooth, and unforgettable from start to finish. Everything was easy to follow and stress-free because of her attention to detail. And huge kudos to Hannah, our musher -- she was absolutely awesome! Specifically: - POOR AIRCRAFT CONDITIONS - INEXPERIENCED INSTRUCTORS - UNETHICAL BUSINESS In April, Blue River confirmed my request that my dog can fly with me as I qualify for my PPL (see attached) so I moved up to Palmer, AK from TX and setup near the airport to start intense training in June. I showed up on June 15 for my first day of training, and it's been a disturbing experience. As a brief summary: POOR AIRCRAFT CONDITIONS - I observed missing exterior screws / bolts, large dent in flap, bent aileron and non-functional shoulder / seat belts on N4714F. This plane was available to students to fly. This is being reported to the FAA. INEXPERIENCED INSTRUCTORS - My assigned instructor, LILIAN, indicated she was from TN and only 1 month into flying in AK, and she seemed to have a mini panic attack about flying with a dog. UNETHICAL BUSINESS - Now that I'm here, Blue River is saying my dog cannot fly with me (see attached). They also charged me for June 15 even though the instructor, Lilian, was too nervous to fly. I have left 2 messages with the front office staff for the owner, JAMIE, to try and resolve things but no return call. I have now wasted over a month and several thousand dollars coming to Blue River, and they are entirely avoiding returning call or addressing any of the issues. BLUE RIVER IS SIMPLY A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. Be Safe Out There.
