Every time I'm there the lifeguards are super busy cleaning. They even have a soap machine on wheels that goes through the locker room and thoroughly cleans everything. Second, they have a very modern pay system where cash OR card is available to pay. Third, the staff is very friendly and readily available to answer questions. Furthermore, they switch lifeguards regularly and have several staff on the clock at a time. To me, this means they have a alert and able bodied staff ready to take care of any swimmer that goes awry. Finally, don't forget: 1. Your lock for the locker room 2. A towel 3. To take your shoes off at the door 4. Flip flops to wear around the pool deck and locker room 5. To shower before you leave the locker room. (The lifeguards will tell you to go back and shower if you forget)

I was constantly being monitored and being made to feel I wasn't doing my job as a parent! AND you have to be in the pool with them and pay for yourself; you can't just stay up in the bleachers and watch your kids! You can't even go to the restroom alone for one minute without being confronted for leaving your kids unattended! In past times, it was the lifeguards job to keep the kids in line at the pools, but instead they are relying on the parents to keep up with the kids at all times! And the place is old and falling apart! Chugiak pool is FAR better and friendlier staff!

I'm going to come to the front desk and ask for Amara. I don't need Tyler coming at me 20 minutes later, saying I'm late for an appointment with him.

This review for The Alaska Club for specifically for the East location…read more My doctor recommended I take the PREP Program which gives you an in-depth guide on how to get started on your weight loss and how to use the machines. It cost about a $1 a day for 60 days, then you decide if you want to stay with the club or not. I started in December 2019 until mid February 2020. You are guided by an RN who monitors you and a specialist at the gym who works on making you a plan and shows you how to use the machines. The PREP program is located in sections throughout all the Alaska club gyms around the state of Alaska. The main PREP program is located at the East location where you will need to attend for the first month at least twice a week. The program is really good and very helpful! I can't express how much this works and how much help you get. I wish I could remember the names but the RN and the Gym specialist were wonderful and were eager to see you succeed. Now, one complain I hate was my that this was doctor recommended and I had been monitored by my doctor for sometime. My blood pressure tends to read high on EVERYONE's machines. it's actually not that high, it is high but not to a point where this issue I am about to complain about irritated me. The RN was concerned, I told her that is was her machine. she said that if I can't get my blood pressure down that she doesn't feel comfortable with me exercising. My issue is that, before you take peoples money, maybe screen first for concerns. I basically had to get my doctor to tell her to leave me alone and I basically decided not to finish the program the second month at the East location. I understood her concern, but when you only have 60 days and you don't feel comfortable with me exercising and I already paid but my doctor was the one who cleared me, I see an issue with that. My suggestion is that before you take the money, maybe run the screening then is there is any issues have them taken care of then you can take their money. Anyways, I've recommended a ton of people to this program and hopefully they have decided to join or try it. Now, my second part of the review has to go to the the people who sign you up. You can see my review about South club, and I fully stick to that review. I first got information from Brandon who gave me details on cost, I needed to join the South club because I live on the South side of town. No pressure, no issues, no sales tactic or pressure with "this deal ends today" shit. I finally decided I was going to join the Summit club, I signed up with Steven, again there was no pressure, no issues, no sales tactic or pressure with "this deal ends today" shit. He helped me decide and compare prices and it was easy! There was another young black man who helped out as well but I forgot his name so you might have to check with Steven. This gym is awesome and I would actually prefer to have a membership here at this club. Your sales team is wonderful, you PREP program is great and helpful! It really sucks that I have to drive to this gym to have had to speak with sales but I drove to this location because I knew I wasn't going to get bullshit or sales. This is a big plus! I know people complain a lot about The Alaska Club, but if you have issues, I would just run to this club and see if they can't help you. I asked the front desk and was told they were closing things for reupholstering, and that someone would check on the timeline and give me a call. No one ever did. I followed up--no response. I left a voicemail to the general manager directly and never heard back. Then today there was water leaking from the ceiling in the pool room by the wall. I noticed when it dripped on me and saw there was already a big puddle on the floor. There were multiple holes/cracks in the ceiling and evident water damage. I told the front desk, one person followed me to have me point it out, then left. Forty-five minutes later nothing had been done no signs, bucket, cleanup, etc despite a bunch of extra staff around for a Nordic spa event. Staff were also talking about the steam room in the locker room being down but the one in the Nordic spa was working. It really feels like all the attention is on the new Nordic spa while the rest of the facility is suffering. Overall, just really poor communication and lack of upkeep.

The price was right and the lady I talked to on the phone was really nice. We set up a time for our excursion. I was running a little bit late and let them know. They dropped off the kayaks at the drop off area. Which is about a quarter of a mile to the shoreline. These two 5'4" ladies had to attempt to drag the kayaks all the way down to the shoreline. The best part is the return., A family from Texas helped us get the kayaks to the pick up place. And the guy who met us to pick up the kayaks didn't offer to help, watched us the entire time and told our friends to load up the kayaks in the back of his truck. Customer service poor although everything else was awesome

We ended up drove to Mirror Lake one hour earlier than 1 PM our appointment time but Chris was accommodating and delivered I will 2 double kayaks around noon and pick them up one hour later. We had a great time there. We saw another customer who were waiting for their equipment to be pick up the same time. We highly recommend Chris for any of your equipment rentals With very reasonable prices and excellent customer service.

Not only did the owner deliver the snow shoes to my cabin, but he also threw in some complimentary bear spray because he could tell how nervous I was about encountering wildlife. When I wanted to add another pair of rentals for my husband the following day, he drove his van full of kids to meet me off the highway to deliver them with the threat of a big snow storm closing in fast. We were able to leave the rentals in our cabin upon checkout, and he picked them up for us. Incredible convenient. I can't recommend this company and the sweet owner enough!

The hotels were suitable and the B&B near Palmer had the best views - as did the Lakeview Inn. The one thing I would recommend is advising us to eat locally and telling us exactly what time to make dinner reservations in advance (where / what time). It was impossible to get a cab in Seward.... We loved all the activities we picked - ATV, glaciers 4 ways (airplane, hiking on it, boating to it, ocean cruise), cultural tours, kayaking, fishing, gold panning, Denali hiking, train etc - it was endless animal sightings, whale watching and learning galore! I would highly recommend for any curious travelers who don't like just taking pictures of pretty places. We are looking forward to our last day of salmon fishing! Please book with these kind folks.

Mom and I took the small group, adult only, 10-day Grand Discovery Alaska. We started in Anchorage,…read moretraveled around and up to Denali then back to Anchorage where we jumped on the Dome Train to Seward. It was a whirlwind trip filled with A LOT of information, sight seeing, adventures, activities, tours and sitting in the van. Our driver/guide, Cullen was Great! One of the first things he told us right after he gave us his cell number was ... "You are going to do more in 10 days than most locals do in 20 years." He was not joking. We really crammed a lot into a short amount of time. Every day was a long day with most days not eating dinner until 8 or 9pm. There were 6 travelers plus Cullen. Our group was small and we were able to change and alter some plans easily (if we wanted and could.) In some cases, we weren't able to change things just because of timing. Thankfully, AAU / Cullen made reseravtions at all the eating places so we didn't really have to wait but a couple minutes when we stopped to eat. Every where seemed to be short staffed ( like everywhere else in the US ) and slammed with guests. So, having these reservations taken care of ahead of time was much appreciated so that we didn't really have to wait once we showed up. At one place, Cullen called our orders ahead and they were ready when we showed up! That really helped cut down on waiting / eating time so we could jump on the road quicker. Cullen even stopped at a roadside Jerky truck for us to pick up snacks! The one thing we (me and the group) were not aware of is that Cullen was not going with us for our time in Seward. When he dropped us off at the Embassy Suites on our last day with him, we felt a little lost and uncertain how things would go. This is mostly because Cullen literally took care of all arrangements and kept us 'on track' so we were in the right place at the right time. He also gave us great advice for a number of locations and activities. For the Denali Eielson Bus ride, he was adamant that we be the first ones in line and to sit in the front. He was not wrong! We got the best views of everything including the young grizzly 'chasing' the caribou down the road. (Actually.... the griz was running from the 3 busses and a caribou just happened onto the same trail/road as the griz so it looked like the griz was chasing the caribou when in fact both were running from the 3 busses.) If you get Cullen, ask him about his Moose encounter. This guy has 9 lives and I think he's used 8 of them already in his super adventurous life. If we could change or add one thing, it would be to have a little more time in Denali to relax and take in the area. It was Go-Go-Go all the time - jumping from one thing to the next and getting in really late in the evening that we didn't have time to enjoy a short hike in Denali (like the Savage River) or a campfire by the lake which would have been nice. Overall, we really enjoyed all the activities, sites and options that AAU included in their itinerary. I'm still downloading and sorting through pictures. Once I get them organized, I'll find a few to add to my review.
