Reflections Lake is definitely appropriately named. While you're in Alaska, you may want to stop here for a rest stop opportunity and reflect on life. I know I've done that before and did just that here at Reflections Lake.
It's definitely an eye opener to come here. Not just for the scenery, but to reflect on how life is and how your personal life had gone or is going at the current flow of life. Nature does have a profound way of helping you deal with life's ups and downs and having this option here in Alaska is definitely a positive. I arrived here after driving about 45 minutes from the city limits of Anchorage, AK driving northbound to Denali National Park. For the most part though, the experience here at Reflections Lake was very much a private priority for me, especially when I had reached the marathons / ultras plateau already in my portfolio of long distance running events done to date. The lake almost provides that mental escape that I needed to drift away and be one with nature. It helps to be yourself and just try to identify what's right with the world and the problems that I have had in the post gradually dissipates to more manageable chunks to deal with. The lake itself is very beautiful and scenic. It will make your mind sing songs that will just help you remember what's important in life. Life is short and we all try to live the best day possible.
The constant messages that Reflections Lake provides me that day really was overwhelming. Even when I was on vacation here in Alaska, I took time out from the road and took a rest break. Reflecting here after 30 some decades on this planet has brought me here, to this place. It was great to stop here and just sit for a spell and ended up spending a good hour and a half before returning to my rental car and ahead north on Alaska Highway 1. You can't really miss it though, since there's road signage along the highway, so if you do miss the turn, there's a place where you can make a proper turn around and get here. The overall experience here at Reflections Lake is eye opening and restorative. It helped me open my eyes to the positive and made me a better person by sorting out what I needed to do as an individual. Goal setting and just bring that positive mental attitude is always the mainstay of any realignment. Reflections Lake was there for me and hopefully it will be there for you too, when you need it the most. The best part of the experience was that there is no admission or parking charge to enter Reflections Lake. This place makes me smile.
There is a small parking lot here for everyone and anyone to park here. Walking to the lake is a short hop and a skip to the water's edge. Best bet is to come here during the spring and summer months, although the winter scapes can be priceless too, it's better off in the spring or summer when it's way warmer. There are hiking trails in and around the lake to explore nature, as well as, restroom facilities nearby if you need to. Thankful for the restroom facility though. You never know when you would need it, especially on a road trip! There are also facilities that you can use if you were planning on doing a luncheon while hanging out at the lake for a few hours. Might have been good to bring along some snacks and melt the afternoon. Away here at Reflections Lake, but I had to be somewhere later that night. Thankful as always that I made the decision to come here and regroup, spiritually and mentally. It's always nice to hike the trails here, which is what I did before it started to rain on me that day. Oh well. Fact of life, I guess. If you are in the area and want to check things out, do come down. Off the Glenn Highway and you shouldn't miss the turn off. I'd recommend it wholeheartedly!
5.0 stars for the overall experience. Nature at its best!
